When she had made her way over to the castle to see what was going on, she hadn't expected to join in with the spelunking groups. But it was important to clear the tunnels of the wurms, and from what earlier groups had said, the environment was dangerous down there. So Ash had volunteered her services as a healer, to help keep the teams safe.

Luckily, they weren't descending very deeply. Her group was mostly going to stick to the tunnels closer to the surface, where the builders of Castle Dormont had already worked to reinforce the caverns. Having no knowledge of building or engineering, Ash didn't want to test her luck with trying to add additional supports or reinforcements. She did not want to be responsible for a cave in.

Remembering her own encounter down in the tunnels, she made sure to say to her group, "I don't know if they have eyes, but their sense of smell is really strong. They're attracted to blood and they can burst out from anywhere, so if you get any open wounds at all, let me know right away. Even if it's just a scratch, it's better to be safe than sorry."

And with that, Ash followed her group down into the darkness.

Kirito didn’t know Ashiore or Kyupin when we agreed to join the makeshift group when they were announcing that they were looking for more members later. As an adept gamer, he was used to these dungeon romp, though he definitely denied the girls’ insistence to venture below the shallow part mostly because Asuna didn’t want to take the risk.

He had reservation about Asuna's hesitation, but trusted her decision. Although the two strangers on their team seemed to have a lot more experience in the game than the Japanese pair, they weren’t likely going to survive on trash items they were wearing. Not to mention they hardly have to skill to fend for themselves if the group was split somehow. Although he enjoyed cheap thrill, he was much more interested in playing the game properly and avoid dying like most noobs do in MMORPGs.

“You seem to know a lot about these Wurms, Ashiore, have you encounter them before? I literally have no idea about any of this since I just joined the game two weeks ago. Sightless blood sniffing wurms though… that’s kind of scary, like land shark scary. I hope we don’t hold you guys back too much,” Kirito said as he looked at Asuna and ran his hand down her upper arm.

“So what has the game been like since the launch date? I wasn’t in America at that time so it kind of sucks that I missed the early periods when everything was still new…” he asked Ash as they made their descent into the dark and earthly confines beneath the castle.

As they stepped into the underground tunnels of Castle Dormont, Asuna was more than a bit cautious. It was interesting that even though it was now just a game. With no worry of real life death. Yet here she was was... stressing about the survival of the team during this quest. It did not happened to do her during the Mycolossus. There she happily fought without worry. Maybe it was Kirito's presence. He reminded her of how it was. When every swing of a weapon meant you could die. It was over though and she had to let it go. How silly, Asuna was worried that Kiriot never let go and now here she was having that exact problem! It was why she had suggested to go with the less dangerous section.

Kirito was curious about these monsters they had to face. He was acting pretty modest here. He matured some. The girls they were partnered with were both stronger as far as this game was concerned then the SAO veterans. What a weird feeling this was. Still, it actually felt good to not have a huge spotlight on her face. There was enough of that in real life for her.

Afetr awhile down here Asuna felt a bit disappointed actually. The wurms, giant blood sucking dinosaur worms or something like that, were not putting up much of a fight. Maybe it was because there weren't that many to begin with here. Asuna could not help blushing with her over concern for a bit. Luckily she didn't think anyone caught it.

Kyupin tried to keep her open looks of wonder to a minimum. Was she in a group with a couple? They seemed cute together. The small touches between them, the comforting gestures and prolonged eye contact... Kyupin wanted to compliment them on a great relationship, but what if they weren't dating? That'd be too awkward. For everybody.

So instead, Kyupin focused on the caves they'd descended into.

There was little to do with the two sword fighters slashing up Wurms left and right, but Kyupin let loose an arrow or two when she could. "I feel like I should be the one apologizing," she joked softly, her words half-truths. "It's hard to aim in here. Dark and cramped." She gestured around them at the cavern they strolled through, then nocked an arrow and watched it cut through a Wurm. It didn't fall immediately, but a second arrow guided it into death's clutches.

It was getting easier to do this - to kill and to hurt. Kyupin frowned down at her weapon, her bow, and tried to stomp down the doubts bubbling inside. She was doing this for a good reason. To help people.

Inhaling deeply, Kyupin trotted after the others, keeping an eye out for any distant blood-hunting worms.

Ash made light conversation with the others while things were still peaceful. "Only once, I've sort of had to use some of these tunnels to escape. I wasn't much help either during that time, all I could do was heal." She smiled self-deprecatingly. "Looks like I'm still doing that."

But it looked like things were picking up. She thought she could see Asuna and Kirito moving quickly and slashing at the wurms, Kyupin occasionally firing a shot when the opportunity arose. But it was so dark, all she could really make out were flashes of motion and a little bit of color that she strained to distinguish.

Well, there was an easy solution to their light problem. Clenching her fists, she sent tendrils of magic to the moss around them, trying to replicate the glowing that she had seen in the other tunnels. A blue-green light flickered in the caverns, dim, but enough to see by.

That'd have to be enough. Trusting the light to hold for at least a while, Ash turned her attention back to healing.
