    The Journey

After splitting off from the rest of the entourage, your party, which consisted of @Claire Thalassa @Zelrius @Vina Skysong @Blake Elgis @Magi Heart @Blithe Bombón @Romulus and a handful of the Princess soldiers embarked on a bumpy journey to the eastern-most part of the mountain.

Your party was led by one of the officers appointed by D'vangelline herself, who went by the name of Ser Destry. Despite his elderly status, there appeared to be a great fire in his eyes to complete his mission for the princess. If you had spoken with him on the wagon-ride, he would have told you all about the battles he has been in and revealed that the pride of his life, and the only family he had left were his young grandson and granddaughter. He also mentioned that he will always take the safest option in any mission he is a a part of.

The journey took roughly two days (3285/1500=2) to get to the region assigned to your group. Since the mission was time-sensitive, a scout was sent ahead of the party to figure out where Falderen's outpost was located. A player traveled with the scout to make sure there was a clear line of communication with the rest of the party. This player routinely relayed information to @Claire Thalassa on where to go.

As your party traveled by wagon, the faint outline of something resembling a road you have been traveling on eventually ended. The way onward was nothing but craggy and untamed terrain that your wagon could not continue on. Destry had the group travel the rest of the way on foot. The long trek felt even longer every time your party had to stop to rest, east or sleep. When your group reunited with the scouts on the third night, they mentioned all the information they were able to gather by arriving the day earlier.

"The enemy's outpost in this region is at the top of that cliff. We spent the entire day yesterday looking for ways to get up, but uuh, you're not going to like it. There are two options and both of them are pretty bleak.

    1. Sneak: We can either carefully move along side the ledge of the cliff without alerting their sentries. It'll be pretty bad if we get caught though.
    2. Run: We won't alert the guard if we went up through the cavern within the cliff, but there are some poisonous fog. We didn't really go in, but we can speed through without being noticed by the cliff-side sentries at least.
So what is it going to be? We have to make a decision soon and get up to the top before the night is over."

Before the group had a chance to react, you had a feeling you were being watched; was it just your imagination or was it something more?

    Goals:
    • Figure out a way to get to the outpost at the top of the cliff.
    • Find out if the prison is in your location

  4. Claire had no qualms about pushing through the grueling pace that Ser Destry set. She ended every day exhausted to her core, but knowing that they were getting closer to the prisons with every day gave her enough energy to keep going. The scouts ahead were doing invaluable work with keeping her updated on which direction to go, and she did her best to relay that information clearly to their team.

Now though, it looked like they had to make a decision. The outpost was right there, just barely out of reach. One last hurdle to overcome. After listening to the scouts' assessment of their options, it didn't sound like a difficult choice.

"I'd rather not take our chances with the cavern. Poison gas is awful to deal with, and the scouts don't know what could be hiding in there. If we're smart about it, we can sneak past the patrols and not lose any time."

She looked back at the rest of her group, waiting for their opinions.

Something still... itched, for lack of a better word. She didn't see anything nearby the rocky cliffside they were gathered at. Regardless, Claire could have sworn that something was watching them. Tightening her grip on her polearm, she resolved to keep an eye out. If anything was going to try and stop them from fulfilling their goal, it was going to have to go through her, first.

  7. Zelrius just kind of hung out in his corner of the cart, not really saying much during the journey, but occasionally speaking to Destry, someone who was quite intriguing. See, the golden haired man didn't much care for what he had to say in specific, but more, the implications of which. He spoke as though as he had lived a life before, years and years of wars, a family, perhaps a lover who has long passed. But that was impossible, wasn't it? This kind of gaming tech had only existed for a few years at most, and Terra maybe not more than one. To be honest, he had no idea how long Terra was around, but he couldn't imagine it was too long of a time. So, how was it that the NPC had such memories, an life long lived, and so forth? Well, there were a few answers to that question, ones the man would have to come up with on his own.

He was lost in these thoughts and many more throughout the following days, speaking to his compatriots to remain sociable, but not really connecting with them in any meaningful manner. It was odd, as he glanced around the cart, having little in common with these people but the game. They were genuinely nice people, or seemed to be atleast, and weren't bad wagon-buddies all things considered. He just, didn't find much to say to them, only able to crack a joke here or make light conversation there.

Though now the conversations seemed to shift, from the every day small talk to real plans and ideas. It started with Claire's own statements, prompting him to ask questions to Destry and get caught up on what they were discussing, having missed it when in his own thoughts. His eyebrows lifted at the mention of the two paths, the answer seeming quite obvious.

"I am Skeptical that everything will be Glitter and sunshine," He began, in response to Claire's own words. "However, I agree that poison gas is not in our best interest. We're trying to not lose more people than we already have who were captured. It'd be one hell of a hoot if those who were supposed to rescue either couldn't or got captured themselves. So, lets sneak, last thing we need is some unwarranted attention." Still, that answer seemed too obvious and didn't sit well; He'd have to have a conversation with his partners to settle things out.

Magi never climbed a mountain before. Not even in girl scouts. Luckily they were not actually scaling the walls or anything. So this was where Eldhi and the others were? The King of Astorea was here too... Astor. Magi Heart had torn feelings bout him. She never actually met him up close. Only maybe from a distance. Wendy had always felt that someday she would ask him why? Why he fought the wars he did. Why he chose to hurt people and make a kingdom and stuff like that. All of these complicated political things, even if it was just a game. Didn't it hurt to actually do something like start a war with others that were not evil? Falderen never seemed evil to Magi... nor did any other group she had encountered for that matter. There was no 'villain' in this game for everyone to unite against.. so maybe they were just forcing the role on different targets. That concept scared Wendy actually. She decided to just forget about it right now. Saving the prisoners was what was important now.

The group was trying to decide if they wanted to sneak around or go through a poisonous cave. Magi was pretty sure both were going to tough.Everything in this game was hard. It always felt cranked up to the highest difficulty in her mind. Seeing the others around her made her feel not alone though so maybe she could handle this. If there was ever going to be a time to get her act together and be what she came to this game to be. Now was it. After all, she wasn't going to be here after this. This game had gone too far on too many things for the young magical girl.

    "I-I... um..."

Magi did not want to interrupt the adults or those she saw might be adults anyway. Yet she still spoke after a moments hesitation, and once she did it pretty much flowed out.

"I think we should take the fastest way we can. The longer we take the weaker we get right? And the more horrible things could be happening to the others. I might be able to protect us from the poison mist. I have created barriers for being underwater before so this might not be much different if we move quick. Getting caught by the soldiers would make us have to fight and it would hurt us and more of them than we have to! I... I want to avoid that if we could... please."

She usually was not so forward with her opinion during missions in this game. However this was a rare exception. Even if she backed down some near the end.

  13. The journey onwards made it clearer to Vina that they were on a serious mission. When they were in the wagon she was friendly and sociable, trying to get closer to the people with whom she would be working together to hopefully find the players who had been trapped. Aside from the knowledge of what each of them could do and how it would fit into the plan there was also Vina's natural desire to be friends with basically everyone she came across, so this was a perfect opportunity since they had several days of travelling to converse and get familiar with one another. Of course this also included the soldiers and the one who was in charge of this mission, Vina being curious what the life of a person living in Terrasphere was like. From her perspective it was a virtual world, one of the most thorough and detailed games to have ever been created, but these people seemed no different from the people in real life, and for them this world was real. She wasn't too fond of the stories of battle that Destry recalled while she spoke with him, but she showed interest nonetheless and she was happy to listen to him brag about his grandchildren.

She became a bit more silent once they continued on foot, if only because she had to reserve her energy for the journey. Now that they could no longer use the wagon it became clearer that they really were travelling impressive distances for this mission, and Vina didn't want to slow the group down because she had been too much of a chatterbox. Normally she would've been more focused on enjoying the journey, but the idea that they had come here with an actual goal, and that goal was to save people who were in actual trouble, was making her careful enough to keep her silence as she instead focused on the road ahead. When they sent a scout ahead she didn't volunteer, mostly because she figured someone who had masteries better suited for movement would be more appropriate.

Once the scouts returned and explained their options Vina waited for some of the other to offer their suggestions before she gave her own input, nodding towards @Magi Heart to show her agreement with the girl. "We have several people with supportive abilities here, so maybe it's worth trying out the cave. If Magi can create a barrier and I use my magic to boost the resistance of our bodies we might be able to get through." Vina was aware that Naturamancy was more for healing than buffing (she'd considered getting Illumancy to boost her supportive abilities even further) but since Naturamancy WAS the magic of life she was pretty sure boosting one's resistance to poison and disease should be something she was capable of. "I haven't had the chance of trying out that specific spell yet, but I'm pretty confident in it."

  16. After everything had gotten situated, Blithe had settled herself down in the wagon to prepare herself for the long trek, only to shoot back up again. She had been ready to chat with the others and get to know her team, but once they offered a scouting position for one of the players, she offered herself up. So, quickly saying bye to the team and assuring them she'd be okay (even if they didn't care or not), she headed off the scout up ahead to watch the road.

Her traveling consisted with keeping contact with @Claire Thalassa, and she actually kept herself quite cool for most of the messages she sent to her, taking an air of seriousness as this was a pretty intense situation. Every once of a while a couple words of French were thrown in, but the task that Blithe was given was one of utmost importance. She remembered when she and the scouts arrived at the enemy outpost, keeping herself up beat as she helped search the area for a way to get around. Fortunately she was allowed to sleep for a little bit, but she still found herself tired when the rest of the adventurers arrived. Still being able to manage a wide grin as she walked on over, she grouped up and listened to the plan she had already gone over more than once in her head.

As she listened to the others vote on which way to go, she thought over it, and honestly- She wasn't really a huge fan of the cliff idea. What if they fell? What if they got caught? The cave was poisonous, yah, but they did have multiple supports on their team as @Vina Skysong pointed out and @Magi Heart brought up she could create a barrier. So, after they were finished speaking, she also spoke up, putting one hand on her hip and use the other to express herself more as she spoke, "I've thought over it for more than a little, and I say we run through the mist. You guys said it yourself, we have a good amount of supports that can power up and boost our resistance. It's our best option here, n'est-ce pas?"

  19. Blake dropped the carefree attitude for once, letting herself focus on the situation presented to her at the moment. The scout had spoke with the player, that then spoke with Claire, before the information came to her. Apparently, the place they needed to go was somewhere on that mountain, and they had two paths: They either went through a cave filled with some kind of poisonous gas, or they would have to sneak their way past the camp. Their objective? Find some captives and free them. Seemed fine, honestly. They just needed to pick a way for it.

She then took a good look at the people on her team. There was Vina, Zelrius, cake girl, magical girl and white-haired girl. While they had a lot of supportive power, all of them did lack any rogue masteries to make them sneaky, which would make their mission a lot of harder should they get caught. And the poisonous gas was going to be easy to deal with once the supports got going with the healing and buffs to the party.

So, Blake clapped her hands, before speaking to the group. "I highly suggest we go for the cave. None of us seem like the type to be easily unseen or sneak around, and getting spotted would only make things worse. Buuuut, we have a lot of supports, so dealing with the poison is going to be easy!" She then went towards Vina, smiling, before gently petting her on the head. "I can trust you to protect me, can i~?" She then chuckled, before starting to throw jabs and straights at the air, preparing herself for when they decided to go.

It seemed the majority of the group voted to run through the poisonous innards of the mountain rather than sneaking through the sentries on the cliff. Although he was the one who gave the groups their option, he looked rather concerned, since it was technically the riskier choice of the two. Shaking away the hesitation that was starting to cloud his judgement, he immediately took out a piece of cloth and tied it around his face, making sure his nose and mouth were covered.

Then, he gestured to the group to follow him and sneaked to an inconspicuous spot at the foot of the cliff where there appeared to be a tiny entrance that the group could crawl through. After what seemed like an incredibly lengthy crawl, the group entered a large and cavernous space where any sound they made returned to them in eerie echoes.

Considering that there wasn't a single light source to illuminate their environment, the scout lit up a torch. It was then that the group could see the thick green smog that lingered in the air along with white specks of god knows what. The longer you remained still, the more your skin started to burn. It was time to run.

Navigating the dark surroundings was already difficult as is, but the slimy rock, squishy fungi, and hungry cretins made it even more challenging. The problem compounded even more with the fact that it hurt to breathe and your skin felt like melting from being exposed to the smog. There was not even enough time to heal.

"Hey, we hurry, hurry, we gotta get up to the 2nd level, the smog is getting lighter the higher up we go. Crawl if you have to, just get out of this floor."

Although the guide was rather quick at first, one bad step on a rock made him fall down and smashed the back of his head against a crag below. You can see blood beginning to pool around his head as his torch slowly burned out. It was completely pitch black now. Someone is going to have to find a new light source and lead the party to safety.

The air stank of something foul, and the ground began to get random bits of slippery and muddy as the team moved on. Something didn't feel right to the wannabe nobleman, not exactly being able to place his mind on why it was that every step seemed to recede; like taffy being pushed in. It was unusually squishy, but ridiculously tough at the same time, which only added to the man's anxiety.

Zelrius wasn't thrilled about having to run through the Poison caverns, but was willing to live with it. Afterall, Democracy was the best of systems, and if the majority of his team insisted that they gun it through, then so be it, or so that's how he thought. The man acted with very little caution in the game, willing to take higher risk always for better reward. The worst thing that could happen to him, in his mind? A Simple death, in a video game, and how bad was that? As far as he knew, not at all, reasoning that even in death, he got to visit that pretty Morgue Lady.

So, with that understanding in mind, and only a nod to his team, the man waved a hand over to signify direction, now placing his left hand over his mouth and breaking from a fast-paced walk into a cool jog, an attempt to save energy but get through quickly. Though his light run slowed way down into a cautious meander, his eyes widening as the guide died, and his fire slowly petering out, a symbol of loss hope to the golden haired man. He glanced back to the entrance, looking to his team, unsure exactly how they were going to light the way now for this. Still sticking to his willingness to take Risks, the man wanted to set an example, heading off one step at a time into the dark caverns. Though even a few steps in, he could begin to feel the burning sensation, his teeth grinding as a sort of coping mechanism.

Claire was probably as dissatisfied with the group consensus as Ser Destry was, but she kept quiet. No use getting in an argument about it now that everyone's mind was made up. Following his lead and wrapping her scarf around her mouth and nose, Claire headed into the caves.

Rush through it quickly looked to be their only option. The air within burned all the exposed skin it touched and Claire grimaced as her thin scarf did little to help. Damn, this was not good.

The scout ahead urged them onwards before- Shit! So not only was the green poison gas trying to kill them and the cave completely full of strange vermin that probably wanted to eat them all, but the rocky uneven ground made even just walking a hazard. She grimaced and dashed over to the scout, trying to check whether he was all right. Unfortunately, crouching down meant that she was exposing herself to the denser gas, and she couldn't stay for long with her eyes watering and her lungs practically screaming at her to stop.

Damn it! If he was still alive-

There wasn't time left. She couldn't hold her breath any longer and she almost felt like the smog was scraping her skin off her bones. Hating herself for it, she stood up, and began running for the direction where she last saw the exit.

Magi was surprised but also really relieved that everyone actually started to agree with her! That meant that they... believed in her? Well, not just her but also everyone together! This was incredible! If they all worked together and were able to rescue everyone like real heroes and, and... wowzers! For a moment Magi forgot how dire of a situation this was.

"Okay! We'll use our teamwork and save everyone! ... I will make my barrier now. Please try not to get to far from me. My energy drains while I keep it up."

She looked to others who would be able to support. Even though some of them may not really be into or get love and justice right now, they all did want to save their friends. Regardless of how bad this may be... Magi Heart was in a party that shared her wish for this. Time to put on her Magical Girl Protag face and do this! Otherwise she would not have the nerve.

"Yellow Heart Power! Protect our pure hearts!"

Next thing she knew. The older general guy that was with them was already moving along with others... um... maybe she took too much time with the magical girl posing and such? Oh boy...

"W-wait up! Magi Heart can't protect you if you are so far ahead!"

She ran after them and was actually pretty quick to catch up. That rogue book she gained in the shroom place was useful! Even though it was actually her mobility that did it, she did not realize that. Her barrier glowed with a yellow light as each member would be doused in it.

Blithe almost regretted their decision as soon as they entered the little crawl hole. She was small, so it didn't really bother her much, but being in such a tight space while crawling made her uncomfortable to the tenth degree. When she finally popped out of the crawling space and into the large cavern, she almost let out a small shout for joy before the poison gas started stinging at the little skin that was showing.

It was like a war flashback to before she left and they were laying siege on the castle. The same burning feeling on her skin, scratching at her throat and making her feel both like she needed to close her mouth but also open it at the same to empty anything inside of her she had eaten that day. She immediately started bounding around on both feet to keep herself moving, grabbing a hair clip from her hair to set over her nose as she watched the scout- Oh non.

Dead. He was dead. At least, he seemed to be, and there was no real point in letting them all die by staying back as well. She looked at him for only a moment before looking forward, eyes watering as the burning sensation that filled them. She blinked a couple times to wish the tears away, then bounded like a deer after the rest of those that had already run ahead. She herself was surprised at how much energy she held within, but nonetheless, carefully made her way through the poisonous darkness. She would have tried to sing a song, but the poison gas choked her whenever she opened her mouth even a little.

It’s been quite a journey for Romulus, his experience against the bandits that attacked the entourage is something he won’t forget, especially his strange encounter with the flying gators. Who’d knew such complications and perversions of nature would actually exist? If the system wasn’t there, he’d assume they were just dragons or that sort. So far nobody got hurt and lost only one of the wagons, which was attacked first. He did whatever he can, whatever he could do to help and fight on without even thinking of his own safety. So far everything went swimmingly.

On the next day, he and his selected party were assigned to one of the officers sired to Princess D’vangeline who goes by the name of Ser Destry. A respectable elder much like himself as he to was one but only Ser Destry looked quite younger than Romulus was in Real Life. According to the officer, the enemy’s outpost was on the top of the cliff and they were given two options: Either to sneak by or make a run for it through cavern that’s rigged with the poisonous fog.

@Claire Thalassa was the first to speak up and preferred not to go through the poisonous gas with @Zelrius agreeing with her.

Majority suggested that the entire party run through the cavern and were confident in their support abilities which will be used to protect the entire party from any direct contact. So they did. Ser Destry lit up a torch as the entire party made a ran for it. Romulus however was able to keep up as he climbed left and right and would only hesitate if anyone of them gets left behind.

But soon enough the torch would blow out and the cave would be left pitch black, so Romulus had to rely on his sense of touch and audition. They were in the blinds but surely enough when a light source would come, the first thing he’ll search for was his entire team or those that would have get left behind and support them up. Magi heart seemed to have been lagging a bit behind So Romulus picked her up and carried her in a bridal’s position as he ran up to catch with Ser Destry.

“Save your strength for when you save your friend” he said as he sprinted as fast as he can.

Vina giggled at Blake's request for protection, the white Felis noting that Blake was of the two of them by far the better combatant. "I'll try to keep you alive and healthy if you take care of our physical needs~"
    _____
With everyone having decided to go to the caves (or at least, enough of them that they had the majority of the votes) Vina went with the others, although she blinked when it was revealed that the entrance to the cave system was a small hole they'd have to crawl through. She hoped that the cave system wasn't all small tunnels.

Once inside together with the others Vina winced as she could feel how the poison was already beginning to eat at her, the dangerous fumes a lot stronger than she had been expecting. She was beginning the chant with which she would boost the resistance of everyone when the scout, who was already going ahead, suddenly slipped on the treacherous floor of the cavern, Vina letting out a surprised sound as she heard the loud crack and saw the light dying out. She wanted to hurry over to the scout and see whether he was all right, but just like the others she could feel how the poison didn't give them much time, and if she couldn't see where she was going she was running the risk of befalling the same fate as the scout.

Fortunately Magi then created light with her barrier, but Vina gasped before she remembered that it meant breathing in a mouthful of poison, leaving her coughing as she hurried over to the scout, seeing all the blood. A moment of hesitation befell her as she wasn't sure whether she could carry the scout fast enough while keeping up with the rest of the group, but then another part of her asserted itself and she picked the scout up, hoping that he could still be saved even as she tried her best to keep up with the rest of the group. Vina was quite fit, but she wasn't a physical powerhouse, so carrying someone did slow her down somewhat. Feeling her skin burn wasn't very helpful either.

Blake was happy that they got to do what she wanted. It really pleased her to have things go her way for once. From being forcefully pat into submission by a midget to not being able to properly walk for hours due to her tail, she thought that she had finally got the hang of this world. And it actually was quite nice, since with that she was able to go deeper into her masteries, unlocking awesome skills and buying good armor. The kimono was nice, but it wasn't really very safe. But now, focus. Get to the cave and run. That's their plan. And she nodded to Vina, more than ready to use her strength in their favor as one can ever be.

But then they actually went into the cave. She was expecting some bad feelings, since the poison and all. But her skin felt like fire, and her throat seemed to try to colapse on itself as soon as she got there. Needless to say, she wasn't the best when it came to holding her breath, so she started to run, holding her hand against her mouth. Every gasp for air felt like breathing acid, but she had to go further. She would not be left behind, not at all. But then, she saw the guide go spiraling into the ground, and it went pitch black, except for a small area around everyone, due to Magi's barrier. More reasons to run to the exit as fast as they can.

But on the way there, she found Vina struggling. She then remembered what Vina said before they went in: "To take care of our physical needs..." She was going to hold true to those words. She speed up towards Vina, before hastily grabbing the scout from her shoulders and speaking. "Go ahead! I will catch you in a few. I can resist a bit more of this poison. Not your case in the slightest!" She then started to cough up, and some dark liquid started to come out from her mouth. It seemed like blood, but it was a tad dark to be certain, never the less, she still had the will to shout. "Go! Now! You need to make out of here as soon as possible!" She then put Mr. Scout on her own shoulders, slowing her down a bit but no as much as it did to @Vina Skysong, before starting to run as fast as she could.
