  1. The job was done, and the bitch was death for once it seemed that he was going to be able to get a job done with anyone trying to change the dance. It seemed that Luna was the one that had finally put her down, just as the girl had some that trademark darkness that all Lucia people had. The little God touched girl was out of range form any possible backlash from that might land. Gluttony was on the ground, and they would be able to kill her later, he was going must but Comet a drink when this was all over. The girl had shot better than him for this job. Pulling himself upon the wooden remains of a build and twisting off the cover for his flask, and not the other normal flask he kept around. No, this one held the King’s ale, and it was still one of the strongest things that he had the grand pleasure of putting down his throat. Smoother than water for the most part and he still wasn’t too sure how that was possible, but that was a mystery for another day. He sat back and watched there was a bit of pain, but the job was done, and they had won.

However, it seemed he was wrong because a sound works its way through the silence, as the sound, he remembers from the watch. The sound of flesh being ripped appeared by strength alone. How in the name of the Gods was she able to still be moving, then she broke the world. Turning his attention to the sky to see the sun itself had been hidden from them, she had the power to take away the light itself, but the action seemed to be costing her in the long run. That was not a scream of the pleasure of satisfaction that came from her it was one of pain. She had attempted to break reality, but the reality was fighting back it seems. There were no ways she would be able to hold all that back the game will fold in on her and wipe her out there was no reason to stay any longer.

Getting to his feet and walking along the remains of the wooden building. He could see the treelined, and there was a way out he could be away from the mess in a matter of minutes. Even as he saw the display that Cain put on, the man always had a talent for theatrics. To bring down the stars using hope as he called it to illumine the field, they would be looking at him. It was the best time for a person to leave. So that is what he did he started to walk away he had done his job. So, he walked along the ruin and fired a grapple arrow at the thickest tree he was able to see. Giving a good pull to test them before he started his walk on the line. He had a bird to feed and even if the thing was alive again he completed his job he had put her down the first time. If Shana wanted to hire him back for the rest of this, then she should get in touch quickly. Pulling his flask out of his pocket as he drew closer to the forest. It seemed that they were still going to fight he appeared that even Ezra was back in the battle guess Cain must have revived her. Well, that was going to be a shame she was going to die here.

“So was that all she meant ?”

“Shut it; I did the job. I held to the code.” He walked on the end of the rope in sight and the forest so near that he could almost see his freedom but his steps were coming slower. That Damned voice was playing talking in his head a voice that had been so quiet up until this point now decided to open its damn mouth.

“That you did, what about the first? Doesn’t it apply to her?”

“I told you to shut it; you never said anything before now. Why do you care now?”

“……… Because you do.” And Aalam stopped balancing on the wire, his flask cold in his hand as he looked back at the battle that was going on. The breath in his lungs stole from him by those words; he was on the forest’s edge he could leave right here and right now. But those words keep bouncing about his head. “Because you do.” Damn it, damn it all to hell, shoving his flask back into his pocket as he turned around on the rope and charging back towards the battle. Pulling out his shield breakers the last four had made and nocking them into his bow. “Damn it, Damn it, Damn it all to hell.” Reaching the edge of the ruin and jumping off as he found his shot, he was going to make sure that she stayed down this time. For the split second, he had his shot, and he let all four loose into the demon slamming no to the ground and rolling forward as he came to his feet. "Damn it all."

  2. Facing death had been something she prepared mentally for, but didn't want to ever face. She escaped it many times. Believed herself incapable of being taken down. Yet Anath, this wicked creature, could destroy her with ease. Her devastating wounds and the numbness of it all and what little energy she had left made death seem easier than believed. Not in her mind, but for her weakened body. Falling to Anath's anger without much more than a slack jaw and gaping mouth rather than retaliation in the form of violence or words or anything... Comet knew she had to deal with her fate. She hoped there'd be a way to come back. At the same time she never wanted to confront her teammates again for she had failed them all.

They couldn't taken down Anath because of her. It was all her fault for not being able to stand on both legs at her worst during combat - the proper thing to do in such a situation. If she were to be revived, then what? What could she have to offer that would prohibit any further damage? They'd be better off letting her stay down, she decided. Internal tears wracked her cracked soul more vulnerable now that she'd let down her guard. For the better, or so the large step to becoming herself was supposed to be. It seemed disgusting in the moment. This self-hatred showed on the pitiful corpse all curled into itself.

Not a bit of Comet expected Cain to say those words. To bring her from the grave. Though on the inside the pink-haired woman continued to die inside, he wouldn't let her escape the fight so simply or so soon. In a way she admired the man's capability to remain at least visibly indestructible. Very unlike her. Very much a source of power that washed over her. Prompted, the young woman dragged her sore body upwards. Sore from a multitude of both explainable and unexplainable things. But Cain brought these destructive feelings and turned his back to them. He made her come back with a sense of desire to help once more as if completely capable to do so.

She'd like to ask how, or why, or what was going on in his head that provided an escape from all they were forced to endure despite Terrasphere being nothing more than a game. Though her dry throat refused to allow any words to pass by quivering, chapped lips she forced them. "Cain, thank you." Comet bowed her head as a shyness enveloped her at once. Part embarrassment, part gratefulness, all wonder and admiration. To bring her down: that, she knew, would take more this time around... The pink-haired woman straightened, gripped her bow, and found hope in the darkness of her own mind that aided in her ability to come back better than before. Preferably not just temporarily.

  3. Tear-stained. Maddy was crying.

The Knight could hear the ret rattle in her voice, the catch at the end of her words. She wanted to reach up and pat her shoulder or maybe hug her back, but she just couldn’t get her body to work for her. Her brain kept firing off commands, but she was a limp noodle within the Blight Druid’s grasp, as weak as a newborn lamb. She hated the idea, ground her teeth as it waltzed across her grey matter.

Over there wasn’t the best description, but it was better than dying. It was better than here’s a foot, there’s an arm, and we haven’t found her head yet. It was better than dead. After all, Lucia wasn’t here to bring them back from the edge, to anchor them to these flimsy mortal shells that needed blood and oxygen day in and day out. Ezra coughed, a wet splatter decorating Maddy’s shoulder. Was there still internal bleeding?

I think we’re fucked, she said weakly, wishing she could turn her head and look around. She could faintly hear Cain’s music, somewhere in the distance, and the piercing sound of arrows being fired from afar worked its way into her consciousness. How could she help? How could she stop things from spiraling down the shitter? She was supposed to protect these girls, Lucia’s girl, and she had failed. She had died and left them vulnerable.

The admission stung worse than a cat-o-nine-tails against her tender flesh.

I don’t…I can’t save anyone, she whispered, the same catch hanging at the end of her statement. She was useless, meat for the slaughter, a single point that wanted to stand in the way of fate only to be rammed and made to roll over. Made to submit to the demon Baal and his (her?) servants. But demons only rose to power from contracts…

Ezra exhaled a slow breath, winced, and closed her eyes, a soft prayer, a plea, sent forth on the breeze.

The battle raged on. The party recovered. Their fear, beaten. The sky, torn open. Yet, the slaughter continued. Anath's laughter never stopped. Changing from delight to pain, to insanity. All together. Laughter. Laughter. Slaughter. Laughter. Assured of her victory. All that mattered. To pay these mere (im)mortals back the humiliation they made her suffer.

Amidst all that, was a single girl. Called back from the brink of death. Praying. Not a prayer born from hope, but rather, pure despair.

Another chuckle. A silent one only for Ezra to hear.

"Oh my, oh my..." The broken Deadknight heard a voice ringing in her mind. Unlike Anath's this one seemed a lot clearer, yet, at the same time were words spoken that she had never heard before. Nonetheless, somehow, Ezra could make sense out of them.

"Such a turn of events. Truly. Fucking. Fantastic. Who would have thought, that this would allow for momentary freedom? Aaahhhh how I'd love to chat and tease. You know, for a moment I considered to answer with 'Baal speaking.' but I'd feared you would hang up on me!" Just... what?

"Anyway, clock's ticking and time is running out... or was it time's clicking and— Ah! You may call me _̴̕͟͡_̨_̷̵́_̴҉_̸̸̛́҉_͢͏" The second the demon(?) mentioned its name Ezra got assaulted by a splitting headache. It was just for a moment, but painful enough to make her entire body ache.

"Ah, of course, I suppose I got my hopes up too high. Alright, let's just go with 'O, The Betrayer'. Now, I know what you want and it won't come without a price." Whatever casual atmosphere Ezra may have had up until now when hearing The Betrayer was now completely gone, as a sinister feeling overcame her. "Wait a second, did she just do a nine?! Asdfqwer. AHEM. In return for my help, I want your life and a simple gesture. Betray someone. Kill an ally you consider close. I shall grant you the strength to do so. It goes without saying that our deal is to be kept a secret... now, do we have a deal?"

  5. A flicker, a moment of lost concentration and suddenly the world shattered and fell apart around her. At first everything had been fine, her arcane energy had been ripping Anath apart and scattering her into the breeze. But now, she'd reformed and stolen Cain's heart, clutching it in her hand as everybody was scattered in this strange, void. It was almost like a world between worlds, somewhere that couldn't and didn't exist. It was honestly all hard to process at once, but the time to process would come later.

First of all, Cain would need that heart back. Need his life back. She didn't have much to give him, but something, anything, would have to be enough. With a sickening, painful wrench of her hand, she tore the flower from her eye, where it had rooted. Clutching it in her right hand, both the flower and herself were consumed in a green and violet vortex of energy, before it suddenly burst outwards, revealing a crystalline heart where the flower had once been. And with a push, it vanished, slamming into Cain's own beating heart, fusing with it, green tendrils of life giving energy wrapping around it and connecting to Cain's chest.

But now, somebody had to do something. This had to end, nobody was going to come and save them. In this world, she felt both powerless and immortal.

    Who needed Energy anyway?

A violet, lilac and crimson aura flared to life around her as she drove her arcane energy higher and higher, pumping out more and more of it around her as she clenched her fists by her side and clenched her eyes, tightly shut. More power! She needed to give off more power!

It grew higher and higher, denser and denser, as her skin began to burn and peel away from the sheer intensity of the energy she was putting out. And the world, the void, started to distort around her. She needed more, to tear apart this gap in reality and ensure Anath paid for what she'd done!

"COME.....ON!" She growled, coughing as she almost doubled over, flecks of blood escaping her mouth and littering the ground beneath her. It hurt. God did it hurt, but she had to keep going, until her body gave out and broke apart.

It was the least she could do after all.

"AGH! AAAAAH!" And it rose higher still, climbing above simple arcane poisoning. Her eyes began to bleed as she continued to push out, more than she could safely push out. It had to be enough!

    It had to be!

"If.....anybody is there.......then you've got to see this....!"
Maybe in this world, gods were real after all? Lucia had mentioned them before. She just needed something! A hand! A push!

@Luna Avalbane could feel it. Despite all the pain. All the hurt. All the agony. The despair surrounding them. There was love. The warm embrace of a mother. The gentle humming of a melody to calm down one's own baby child.

There were no words. But a presence. Luna could feel it. She was filled with happiness and joy. Something, someone, was watching over her. Giving her strength. Her wounds started to soothe, her energy returned. The white-hair knew she could keep going.

She could push further and further.
    Higher and higher.
Transcend the limits of mere mortality.

Luna was now a star, burning brighter than anyone else, as she continued to gather more and more energy, until, once again, she could feel herself breaking down as the human vessel could only hold so much power.

  7. Betray…someone?

How? How could she do that? She was a protector, a guardian, someone that would eagerly and gladly stand in the front lines and take a beating so those she cared about wouldn’t have to. But now, she would turn on them, rip out their hearts and offer it to this…voice in her head? No, she knew what it was.

Would she give up her life and the life of another to a demon?

    She couldn’t!

Madison, Ezra whispered, her eye having eclipsed with a black radiance that saw nothing. Everything was dark, shadowed, and there existed only the voice. Nails against a chalkboard, but she could understand the words. And she knew the promise she was making, knew the contract she was signing.

I’m going to undo all your hard work. Don’t hate me, okay? Just…get me back to Lucia. I don’t want to stay in the other place longer than I need to.

O, The Betrayer. I’ll give you my soul. And only mine. Slay Anath and make sure my friends get out of her alive and unharmed.

  8. Well that was an odd feeling? Had her mom logged into the game or something? Or hugged her in real life? Because it felt like her mom was here, with her? And as far as she knew, her mom didn't play this game, or really play games in general, being too busy with the store and everything.

Still, she felt strong. Stronger than she'd ever felt before. And in this one moment, this one fleeting moment, trapped in the gap between worlds, between reality, she was the strongest in existence.

    Stronger than even Anath!

More power bubbled forth, almost before she could summon it forward. It burned and it scraped at her skin, clawed at her eyes, boiled in her lungs, but it was hers to control. It was nobody else's power but her own. And all of it, every single speck and drop, was stronger than anything she'd done before. It was like space and time bent and shifted, shattering around her.

"Anath!" She called out from within a swirling maelstrom, which seemed to almost glitter slightly as skin and hair pigments were stripped from her body and caught the glow of her own power, all of her veins glowing visibly purple, deep and striking.

"For all of the people you've hurt! For all of the pain, the suffering, the death and betrayal!" God did it burn, but somebody, something, was standing by her side, lending her all of the support that she needed. And with so much riding on her shoulders, how could she not triumph? She grit her teeth, walking forward slowly as her aura of power started to compress into an orb around her.

"I reject you! I reject what you are, what you've stood for, what you're standing for, what you will stand for! I reject those that stand with you, those who bend to your will! I reject the things you've done, the things you will do!"

A cough slipped through her lips, blood flying free and mixing with the compressed orb of power, tinting it slightly red, like a marble wrapped around her, encasing her.

"You will never, EVER, succeed whilst I exist in any world!" Her eyes flashed, lilac flames pouring out of them, in place of blood. Her energy shifted, a pair of translucent wings at her back, meters long and feathery, though they weren't solid. They weren't real. "I wish I could say that I can forgive you, but for what you are, all I can offer is justice and peace."

And like that, the marble cracked as she drew it inwards, those energy wings flickering and suddenly spreading wide, as if she was about to take flight. "YOU LOSE!"

And the marble shattered, bathing the world in blinding light that, if it were reality, could be seen for miles, as Luna unleashed everything she'd gathered. It burned at her body, licked and demanded that she keel over and die, that she can't withstand it. That her organs fail.

    She refused.

After roughly half a minute, Luna collapsed to her hands and knees within the middle of the tempest of power. Her clothes were torn and tattered, her form bloody and her breathing labored.

    But she'd survived.

Or well, almost. Slowly, starting from her fingers, her hands began to glow the same color as her arcane power, a vibrant purple. A flicker of her UI showed her. 0 HP. Nothing left. But yet, that presence was still there, calming and comforting.

A wet cough and a slight chuckle slipped past her lips, as she took a moment to look around. Still not enough? Well, there was only one thing for it. If her body was dying anyway, whether from the strain, the damage or arcane poisoning, then she only had one thing left to give.

The glow spread, creeping along her arms, up her neck, over her face and along every strand of her hair. It spread down her body, along slender legs, around every toe. And she pushed, climbing to her feet as she felt herself fading. It didn't hurt.

    Why didn't it hurt?

She didn't care, she found, as she turned her attention inwards, detonating all of the power that she had left, including her entire physical form.

    The result was....devastating.

But Luna didn't live to see it.

"Hmpf..." Ezra could feel slight dissatisfaction from O. "Consider yourself lucky. The contract is made. Your body, soul, life, and fate, are henceforth mine and mine alone. Until we meet again, my dear Apostle." And, just like that, Ezra's heart stopped beating. No, something was holding it in its iron grip. She could feel her life slowly fading as she heard one more whisper. "Though, I can not vouch for the life of the white-haired one." If Ezra wasn't willing to betray her comrades, this sort of betrayal would do, too.

    ...

Anath continued laughing. Uninterrupted. Monotone. On repeat. Forever, and ever. Assured of its victory. Beyond sanity. Their convictions were weak. The Original Sin knew it was victorious.

"..." Yet, suddenly, it stopped. The moment Luna started to sparkle in a fashion to even put a Twilight vampire to shame, Anath went silent. "No..." A low growl came forth. "Noooooo!" The World itself started to shake. "NOOO! NOO! NOOO! YOU'RE TOO LATE. TOO LATE! TOO LATE I TELL YOU!" And with these words, each and every single immortal warrior -except Luna- could feel how they were being sliced. From the inside. From the outside. Their organs. Their skin. Their flesh. Their eyes. They got showered in tiny little cuts.

And somewhere, between all this pain, was a sweet voice that whispered: Just close your eyes and let it be done.

    Just. Close. Your. Eyes.

And all pain would be gone.
    This Nightmare would end.
    Just surrender your Soul already.

The feeling continued. The voice kept whispering. It continued. Continued. Continued. Continued. Continued. STOPPED. The pain was, suddenly, gone.

But Luna still needed more time.

"AAAAAAHHHH! How dare you! GET AWAY! VERMIN." In just an instant, the various shades that had been eyeing them from all around, hiding, sprung into action. They were biting, scratching, clawing the very air itself. Yet, their hollow expressions were still void of any hope instead, it seemed like they were possessed.

"HOW DARE YOU ALL? WHAT IS THIS BETRAYAL? I AM YOUR MASTER. BOW BEFORE ME!" But it was meaningless. And somewhere, in between all this madness. Inbetween another set of reality tearing cracks originating from Luna, a chuckle could be heard.

Or maybe it was just a trick of the mind?

"DIE! ALL OF YOU." A sound not unlike butchering raw meat could be heard in quick succession. Layed a hundred times on top of each other with not even a millisecond delay. The shades vanished.

    "Now... NOW!"

    Now it was too late.

    "No!" Luna kept on sparkling.
"Please!" Anath begged - a hunch of despair in its voice. Pitiful.
"Don't do this!" But Luna continued.

Not like it was a hard decision.

    [MERCY]
    -->[KILL]

"NOOOOOOO!" A stereotypical villainous defeated nooo came forth as Luna basked the world in light. Bright enough to paint everything into just a single color.

"Curse you... El. Curse you... immortal ones. Curse you... LUNA!" Yet, they could still hear Anath's voice. Albeit weaker.
"I will return... WE will return..." Broken.
"One day, when more seals are broken..." Defeated.
"I will find you... and make your Immortal existence... a living hell...."
"As long as Baal exists... we, too, are immortal..."

Their consciousness was fading until the white turned into black and everything was silent.

    You did it!

The voice was the first that may some have heard. Joined in by the uncomfortable ground and a murdering back- and headache that rung them back into reality.

Upon opening their eyes they were greeted by a shining sun! The perfect summer weather.

    You absolutely, totally did it!

It was a teary voice. One filled with happiness rather than sadness.

Madison, who was lying on the ground just like everybody else, could feel a small weight on her as Shana hugged her.

I'm forever indebted to you! With all this... evidence... and the Cult's plan's gone south it will be some time before they recover!

Finally, Shana removed herself from Madison as her eyes went wide for a second before removing her tears.

Ahem. Right. I hired you to do the job. You did the job.

Shana's voice changed to be that of a more monotone, not caring, girl. A professional, huh?

As you should be aware I can't really pay much, but it has to do. Not to mention there seems to be a bunch of junk lying around. Though I'd be careful about it...

With these words, Shana nodded as she looked the group over. Very well realizing some are missing.

I... hope your friends will be alright. Maybe we will see each other again.

    Were they alright, thou?

Luna and Ezra were missing... .

Shana was about to take her leave.
