Personality
At times, others may perceive Cass to be someone who tries too hard to be someone they are usually not. Due to the player’s desire to ‘let go’ and be who they think they should be, actions are often a tad bit exaggerated. Cass tends to put flourish into things that usually should not have them and puts herself into the spotlight at inopportune times. In short, she has an idea as to who she wants to be, but struggles with properly and naturally being that way, lacking the timing and subtlety that someone who always lived their way in such a manner.
Though, honestly, she only has an idea as to who she wants to be, but she is not very consistent with it. Towards people she likes, she can be amicable, loyal and forthcoming, but might also play inappropriate games with and pranks on them. While she always tries to have a somewhat polite and civilized tone, the actual words she uses and actions she deploys can be what people might refer to as ‘savage’. All in all, she struggles with expressing herself in a world where she has a lot more freedom from consequence and anonymity, and it shows.
In real life, Elaine is much more restrained and withdrawn. She does not talk much to people on her own accord, though she can hold a conversation when approached. There is just not a lot that she wants or needs to say. Most of her colleagues consider her a doormat emotionally, and she does not really mind. That does not mean that she is necessarily meek. If she knows that she is right and has authority, she will display it in order to do her job, but only when she has to.
Positive: Brave, attentive, polite, positive, curious, supportive
Negative: Stingy, spontaneous, obedient, lacking drive, mischievous, grandstanding
Biography
Sometimes, what someone is good at does not align too much with what they truly love. Elaine was born to a gun enthusiast and, much to his pride, she took after him in many regards. She liked guns, she liked going hunting with her father and she grew up to be good at shooting those things as well. But she only liked it, she did not love it the way he did. Sadly though, she never had the guts to tell him that, and forsake the things that she actually wanted to try. People often called her a tomboy, just because she was becoming more of a son than a daughter, but she did not mind, only lamenting that she could not go for singing or dancing practice.
That kind of just accepting what she was offered continued on. Being a good student and in good form, she followed her father’s advice and tried to join the police force. It was not her dream, but she did not have any dream vocation of her own, so it was better than nothing. This lack of desires of her own allowed her to even fool herself into being ambitious, eventually becoming a lowly officer and rising up slowly. Given that she did not really want to become a leader or anything, she instead just specialized in what she was good at and eventually was given the opportunity to train to become a counter-sniper.
Such a position fit her, everyone told her. Her disposition, her attentive, yet quiet nature, and talent with a gun. But she did not love it at all. Instead of changing anything about her life, though, she took up videogames as a hobby and to relieve the stress that came with the job. Just fantasizing about living in a different world gave her joy. There was also often a plot that she could mindlessly follow, or cathartic ‘violence’ that made a good counterpoint to her decidedly not being to indulge in such in real life. She also tended to divulge in slight cosplaying, though she never showed anyone, just creating outfits to play her games for herself.
One day though, she received a mail inviting her to play a certain MMO. At first, she did not like the idea too much, as there was no clearly set goal. However, as she researched the game a little and checked out the newbie area, she made contact with someone who not only gave her some tips, but also explained what the game’s freedom actually meant. Doing things that normally would go against her education and equivalent real-life laws – that thought had a certain thrill to it. It being anonymous and consequence-free helped a lot, and because it could not involve guns by design, she reckoned that doing such things would not bleed over into her work. At least, she truly hoped that it would be the case, as she committed to the game.
