Personality
Claire can seem rather standoffish at first. She prefers to talk less, fade into the background a bit and observe her environment. But when she gets has a goal in mind, it can be to the point where she becomes so singularly focused that she forgets that other people exist. If she wants something, she's persistent and will stop at almost nothing to get it. If she has to work herself to the bone to achieve it, she will. If she has to do nothing and wait for the heat death of the universe to achieve it, she will. She does have moral standards and lines that she won't cross, but they don't usually include things like other peoples' feelings.
In a very sharp contrast, she is very detached from things that she has no involvement in. It's nice that other people have things that are important to them, but if it doesn't concern Claire specifically, she's unlikely to keep that in mind. She has no intention of risking herself for things that other people want, a tendency only strengthened after a certain disastrous mission that resulted in her first in-game death.

Biography
Leah is a recent down-on-her-luck journalism graduate. She hasn't been able to find a job yet, and has been subsisting on meager freelance projects with grueling terms. She watched with envy as classmates majoring in Compsci and IT got jobs at the Independent, at the FT, at the Guardian. And meanwhile, here she was, sitting in her flat and languishing as she got rejection email after rejection letter after 'We'll call you back'.
But Leah had a plan in mind. Interest had been growing in the mysterious phenomenon of Terrasphere. If she could find out more and write an exposé about the mysterious game that had the entire world perplexed, then surely she'd be set for life with her career.
