Personality
In this time of his life, Tomomi has become a remarkably passive person. The flow of life is something that he has let take course, and he rarely gets emotional about things anymore. He generally is happy to
be happy to everyone around him, and enjoys pleasant conversation with anyone. He enjoys friendship with as many people as he can make friends of. He doesn't judge people for their mistakes or flaws, but will speak of them openly and bluntly. He rarely means to insult people when he does as a result.
Tomomi feels that people's individual problems are never as bad as they seem to be, and that any two sapient people are capable of talking problems out. Tomomi likes small hobbies, without one in particular. Anything to keep himself busy is entertaining to him. He doesn't have much interest in food that isn't tear-inducingly spicy. He has a great fondness for animals, who happen to be rather amiable with him in general from his experience.
He really doesn't change too much in character. He does try to be more outgoing and graceful in this game to be unlike himself, but Haru is a terrible roleplayer and, honestly, is in the game itself as a way for him to relax by exploring the scenery more than the people in it. He finds himself to be quite empathetic towards the NPCs in this world, treating them the the full and utter respect and warmness that he would show to any person he would talk to. Thus, an NPC and a Player aren't that different to him in this game, and he will end up striking conversation with anyone he meets.
Positive: Calm, Carefree, Friendly, Generous, Optimistic, Warm
Negative: Blunt, Lazy, Melancholy, Scatterbrained
Biography
Tomomi was born in an isolated city inside the Collin County of Texas, during the middle of a cloudy Halloween night under two caring parents- his father, who ran the local branch of a relevant and booming phone service providing company, and his mother, who came as an immigrant from Japan. The father and doctor joked of misfortune besetting from the day, and everything seemingly went downhill from there.
He always had a hard time with disease. Tomomi had a weak immune system, and caught ill frequently. He often asked doctors what his condition was, to be cursed with disease so often, and was responded to often, "Your body is just weak. That's how you are."
Tomomi missed classes often and was avoided by his fellows, either out of concern for his health of fear for theirs. He came through remarkably well in grades, however, just through simple dedication. He graduated at the normal rate of most students before turning his full, unflinching effort into a regional college, earning himself a Doctorate in infectious disease and microbiology at the age of 25 before turning to his true focus of reseearch: himself. Through study of the odd condition of his body, Tomomi was not quite a discoverer of miracles, but it was certain that, in his few years of research, almost every corner of the sciences were able to thank the man in some way or another.
His work, however, had to cease. At the age of 31, Tomomi collapsed in the middle of a project. It was discovered that, in addition to his lack of concern over his own rest, he had begun deteriorating from a rare disease with no known cure, thought to be terminal. Furthermore, he had
known this, and kept the knowledge to himself, away from any medical professional. When questioned about this, he simply had this to respond with:
"I could have done better."
It was over after that. The man slowly deteriorated over years, and at some point began to be unable to move much of his body. Day after day after day after day after day after day he spent in a bed in a little white room with an overlooking view of a courtyard. Somewhere in this time, he simply gave up on everything. His entire life, the only reason he worked so hard was to try to save himself. That in of itself was why he had neglected to tell a doctor about his condition- instead, he had attempted to find a cure himself in his desperation to work against the world. Such a thing simply could not be done now. Remarkably, Tomomi found peace in his newfound laxhood. He now has, as projected by the doctors, exactly one year left to live and he's never been happier, making friends with all the workers in the hospital he resided in.
Tomomi has found particular entertainment in the Full Dive headset, regardless of how shoddy it was with the ever-present Safety and Regulation Laws. The place let him feel free and normal thanks to the wonder that is modern technology allowing the illusion of the ability to walk, however half-realistic it was. A day after he received news of the final length of his remaining lifespan, he found a curious message on his phone from a distant, sparse contact of his who he could loosely call a friend.
"
Terrasphere..? If this is what I do think it is, I'm going to have a good year ahead of me!"
