By no means does Sunny dream of an utopian paradise in her natural settings; reality hits her too hard in the face to ignore her tangible surroundings. In fact, it is hard to imagine the practical worker as much of an idealist. She is far too pragmatic to be chasing castles in the sky.
Upon discovering video games, however, she has found her own personal Shangri-La. She swiftly discovered that the world of virtual reality is a fresh start at life - a chance to be anyone who you want to be. In this world of vast possibilities her personality began to morph into something hopeful.
With the means of testing different roles, Sunny becomes an idealistic dreamer in the world of virtual reality. A sense of individuality washes over her and she hungrily, almost greedily, embraces it. She drift, wanders, and escapes from the materialistic demands of the outside world.
She retains characteristics that, at times, duel with her individualistic, rebelling streak. The need to keep things private remains along with her meticulous, hardworking nature.
Being busy in the real world means that she can take on far too much at one but she's far too stubborn to take a break. Video games and streaming supposed are supposed to be relaxing, albeit she often overloads herself on either pleasing viewers or questing partners. If not for Terrasphere's sleep deprivation sensors, Sunny would never get any sleep.
Positive: individualistic, insightful, sentimental, meticulous
Negative: private, idealistic, escapist, stubborn
Biography
Sun-hee Choi was born to an average, working middle class family in Seoul, South Korea. The family eventually moved to the United States when she was around six years old. Throughout her entire life a strong sense of family bonds was instilled into her.
When Sunny received her first video game she was hooked and it turned out she was fairly good at it. Through video games she found herself able to make her first friends since moving to the States. Things were starting to look up; her family was able to move into their own house and she was interacting with more people.
A friend in her school suggested she tried streaming to help her practice actually talking to people and not just typing via online chat. Sunny was hesitant but eventually caved. Behind a screen it was much easier as she never bought a cam.
As video games were like a private paradise to her, she took the moniker of Shangri La. From each game she kept her character’s appearance the same. When she received her first donation she couldn’t believe her eyes (although she continued to work a part time job along with school).
Before she knew it her stream began to gain speed. With the money she was able to buy dive gear and further her streaming career. Somehow her charisma as Shangri La and capabilities as a gamer drew people in, causing her to become quite the popular streamer.
After high school, Sunny continued to stream as much as work and college would allow it. Recently, a fan sent her an email with an attachment. Naturally, she had heard of Terrasphere but was hesitant to try to, especially with how much she had on her plate.
By the time Sunny downloaded the game it had been blacklisted. Streaming it would be impossible unless she wanted to risk authority tracing her IP.
Of course, she’s kept the persona and appearance of Shangri La as she finds herself in a brand new utopia.
