_____Such an unlucky first task it would seem. The male’s hands rested within his jean pockets as he looked out at the grass lands before him with sea green eyes. He did not exactly look ready to be hunting a Tuskarr, or anything for that matter. He was dressed in light armor, a vest and pants with a cloth sleeve to his left arm to hide his tattoo. He was not exactly out of shape as some muscles could be seen while he moved into the field where his prey was last noted to be seen around. Reaper was however annoyed he could not use his dark magic, the ill reputation it held could not only damage his efforts to become a fake hero, but taint the food supply. ”That leaves me with my Aracanamancy and rogue masteries… Not exactly the best for hunting large beast but maybe I can find a way to make it work out a bit in my favor.” _____Reaper slowly shifted his weight to adjust to the previously unseen rock he stepped on that would have off set him if he kept walking. It was not unknown that he would be working with someone else on this task, but the sooner he finished it and returned, the sooner he could do something more up his own alley. Sure enough his information was not false as the large boar emerged from behind some bushes not yet aware of his presence thankfully. Reaper seriously hoped he could end it with one swift strike but the size of the beast and his level of magic would not allow it. _____His frame slowly lowered and moved backwards, the longer distance between him and the boar the lower chance it would hear the chanting and the more time to charge him if his first attack was not enough. His lips parting and releasing the faintest chant he could manage to further avoid detection, it would no doubt take longer to charge and required a great deal of his focus. If something suddenly happen it could lead to some dangerous backfire, but what could possibly go wrong. @Alphabet Chocolate Thrown die: 26 ((Total so far: 26/180))
Alpha grinned as she lingered in the shadows, waiting for an opportune moment to strike the Tuskarr. It'd been a long while since she had taken up a bounty (Jack, her typical bounty partner, had been mysteriously absent this past while) and it seemed like this would be an easy one. Just as she was about to launch herself from her perch and stab straight into the Tuskarr's back, however, she was surprised to see a silhouette pop out from the bushes before her, stalking backwards at a stealthy pace. "Uh," she mumbled, confused. "Hello there?" Before there could be much of a greeting or introduction between this peculiar stranger in her midst and herself, she came to the quick realization that he seemed to be chanting something from under his breath. Eyes widened in recognition, she dove out of range as a blast whizzed past and struck the Tuskarr head-on. A small bruise bloomed on the pig's hind and, with fiery eyes, it aggressively charged around the field at random, in search for its attacker. It was confused and enraged and, in this situation, dangerous. Without another word, Alpha hopped over to the cloaked man and tugged him by the sleeve. "Let's get to the trees!" she whispered, panicked. But, unfortunately, that seemed to have drawn the attention of the rampaging boar which immediately turned to look straight at her. "Shoot!" The Tuskarr charged, tusks ready to gouge her body as the distance was quickly closed. Without another word, she dashed around in an attempt to throw the beast off her trail but to no avail, as it seemed to grow closer and closer. She breathed, realizing that she wouldn't be able to dodge this attack. And then she stood. Perfectly still, almost as if she were a breathing statue. Finally, it went into her reach and, just before the tusks could touch her skin, she grabbed a handful of the boar's flesh and somersaulted over the pig, thrusting her dagger through its back as she did so. The Tuskarr let out a squeal of pain as it charged straight into a tree with Alpha panting behind it. Shakily, she began to sprint towards the cloaked man while the pig was distracted. "Are you okay?!" she yelled out. Thrown die: 92 +30 (Rogue - Expert) 148/180 @Reaper
_____Just what Reaper was not looking for, his bolt discharging early, getting dragged slightly and now in the line of focus for his pray. Was it seriously that hard for others to kill without being noticed? His breath breaking with a hushed growl of annoyance as he stood up and reached both hands out to his sides. It seemed he was going to have to play the close combat fight, that alone made him angry. ”Lavender sparks cross across fields of golden embers, strike true into the heart of my enemy and leave none to question our power.” _____One thing Reaper needed was to work on his chants, mostly improvised with some flare as the orbs of purple energy reformed at his palms. He was still standing in the open and honestly did not feel a drop of fear, his death faced him so many times in his old line of work that it seriously felt odd not to be facing death. Left hand swiping forward to send the first orb towards the boar while right hand moved to his center while left also moved to focus on his remain orb. ”Let trail by arcane magic strike true.” _____Another half made chant on the rush as the orb turned into a beam aimed for the target’s head. The area had the least food value so if it was blown off not many would have reason to complain. Reaper himself was not one to wield weapons so blasting the head or heart was his only real two good options. If his magic failed though he had a gamble option that heavily relied on his seeming partner. Sadly the two would not have number advantage for long as a second Tuskarr began to approach from a fair distance. ”I seriously need to reconsider doing things in daylight when people who make a lot of noise are up. _____A hushed passive aggressive comment to keep himself calmed down as he focused on the tuskarrs or tuskarr if the other had been killed. If both still lived he would need his gamble and the odds would further rest in the enemy's favor. He never tried teleportation magic, and to make the first attempt under pressure was asking for failure, then add the fact he would be trusting this girl (if it even was a girl) to kill the target in the brief moment of confusion. @Alphabet Chocolate Thrown die: 20 ((Total so far: 168/180))
Alpha listened to the man's chants with a tinge of foreboding broiling in the pit of her stomach. It wasn't often that she heard words spoken with irritation and anger clawing at the surface. The way the man had carried himself seemed almost unnatural and surreal; fearless in the face of danger. Even Alpha herself, in this high stakes game with such realistic settings, flinched in the face of pain or toiled over attacks from the enemy. It wasn't often that she'd see a person like this (with some exceptions including Merkaba among others that she had met). She watched as the purple orbs of energy circled around the cloaked figure's palm before converging and, within moments, forming a beam of light which splintered through the hog's form and ripped through the flesh of its shoulder. It was obvious that the man had attempted to aim for the head but, judging from the condition of the boar's neck and upper body, she supposed it still did the trick. She was about to call it a day, ready to head out from the gruesome scene, before she saw a weak twitch from one of the hog's limbs. It was barely moving yet still alive and Alpha couldn't help but feel a mixture of pity and empathy for this nearly-dead creature. The wound had been lethal, yes, but it seemed that the pig had survived through some sort of miraculous will and determination to survive. It wouldn't last long. It was merely extending its life by minutes only to face certain, agonizing pain from the brutal attack. Alpha did the only thing she could do at the moment. She glided through the field, weaving through various obstacles without fail as her eyes were set unblinkingly at the Tuskarr. Her blade was drawn and she reached her target quickly, going as speedy as possible. Just as she reached the pig, she lifted her arm and sliced into the creature's jugular, tearing apart the veins as, finally, the creature fell limp and its eyes lost its lively shine. She frowned. Hunting animals was commonplace for her but it didn't mean she didn't respect them nor did it mean that she didn't care about them. She began to pet the boar's mane. The only sound she made was that of a whisper: "Sorry." Thrown die: 88 +30 (Rogue - Expert) @Reaper DC Complete!
_____Reaper guessed he must have just been seeing things, his focus back on the dying enemy as the girl seemed to spare it from suffering. It was slightly annoying to Reaper who enjoyed watching the life fade from the eyes of his enemies, but shifting around he started to walk away. The girl could go turn in this husk of meat, it was no longer really worth it to Reaper as he looked to the sky and began to leave the area wondering what was next on his list. Hand moving to open his UI to look over contracts he had casually. ”Still a couple of hours until the noble leaves for his supposed illegal activities, even if I got there now I would have time to kill. The contract to spy on the baker is still in effect so maybe I can go there while I’m waiting from the other person.” _____With that Reaper moved to open the next part of his UI allowing him to teleport short distances and away from the woman without so much as a goodbye. It was just how Reaper was with other people, not someone who stayed to talk or deal with them unless it was part of his many contracts, and most those people did not live to see the sunset or rise after he introduced himself. ~Reaper Exit~
