When you are conscious once more, your cheek is pressed to a hard wooden floor. You smell dust. Fur. Something that is perhaps blood, old and faded.

As you pick yourself up, you wonder where you are. Though your memory is hazy, you recall that you were enjoying the Dark Harvest festivities in Pormont’s open fields. But right now you're in a cottage. When you open the shutters, you see other houses, worn and quaint. Beyond them are golden plains that stretch up into ceaseless rolling hills. And ever present is the dull, shrouding fog.

You feel the sudden urge to step outside. As you open the door, the fog curls around your legs and rushes in, dousing the world in cold. You see others leaving their houses, figures whose details you can't quite make out. Are they like you? Did they feel the call too?

And standing, proud, in the middle of the circle of houses you've found yourselves in, is a gallows. A platform of strong and sturdy wood, an arm that casts such a long shadow under the paltry dawning light. But it's the noose that catches your eye, a thin loop that sways in the gentle, weak breeze.

Though it beckons, the noose is empty.

    At least, for now.

    The Werewolves of Caylus Plains

    Instructions:

There are (usually) two sides in a game of Werewolf: the Villagers and the Werewolves. The Werewolves want to kill all the villagers. The Villagers want to survive.

At the start of each game, every player will be assigned a role. Quite a few of the roles have special abilities that they can use to help out whichever side they're on. Abilities can usually only be used in certain Phases: either the Day Phase or the Night Phase.

During the Day Phase: Except for the first day, all players will vote on who they want to lynch. During the day, you may talk amongst yourselves, make theories, persuade people to see things your way, and so on. There are no limits on what you say. You can tell the truth and reveal information that you gained through your special powers. Or you can lie outrageously: claim to be a role that you're not or falsely denounce others. It's all up to you. The vote to lynch is made publicly. Once a player has been chosen, they are killed and removed from the game. Night Phase then begins.

During the Night Phase: No posting will be done. Werewolves will awaken and will vote to kill someone. Afterwards, roles which have special abilities during the Night Phase will be prompted for their actions. Once all special actions have been completed, the game proceeds to the next Day Phase, where the final results of the Night Phase will be shown to all players.

This is not strictly canon. Deaths will have no consequences here. Think of it as a weird shared dream that your characters won't remember once it's over.

Not all roles will be assigned during this game, as that depends on the size of the group. The only thing that is guaranteed is that there are Villagers, and there are Werewolves.
    • Villager: You're weak. You're afraid. But you can be certain that there are quite a lot of you. At the very least, you know you outnumber the wolves, until you don't. Villagers win when all the Werewolves are dead.
    • Werewolf: It's hunger that drives you, or maybe just simple bloodlust. During the day you stand among the sheep and talk, but when night comes, it's time for slaughter. During the Night Phase, Werewolves vote on which player to kill. They win when they whittle down the numbers so that they make up half of the remaining players (e.g. if there are 2 werewolves alive, they win when there are 2 werewolves and 2 villagers remaining). Werewolves know who each other are.
    • Alpha Werewolf: You are better than the rest, and you know it. But you are kind. You'll lead your pack to victory. The Alpha Werewolf acts as a normal Werewolf. However, the Seer will not see them as a Werewolf if they are examined. The Alpha Werewolf wins with the Werewolves.
    • Seer: The bloodied moon speaks to you, and it speaks only truth. During the Night Phase, you may choose a player. You will be told whether that player is a Werewolf or not. The Seer wins with the Villagers.
    • Sorcerer: Like attracts like. Seek your double. You know what to do. During the Night Phase, you may choose a player. You will be told whether that player is the Seer or not. You will not know who the Werewolves are, nor will they know who you are. The Sorcerer wins with the Werewolves.
    • Hunter: When you awoke, you found a small crossbow on the floor, along with a single, silver-tipped bolt. You know you're not going down without a fight. The Hunter acts as a normal villager. When they are killed, regardless of how, they can choose to kill another player. The Hunter wins with the Villagers.
    • Witch: When you awoke, you found two vials with you. The blue one contains poison, a dose strong enough to kill a man. The red one is a healing draught, which can save a life. You have enough for one dose of each. Use them wisely. During the Night Phase, you will be told which player(s) may die during the night. You may choose to save them (including yourself), or keep your potion for later use. You may also use your poison at night to kill another player. The Witch wins with the Villagers.
    • Guardian: You may not understand why you're here or exactly what's happening. But you do know that you will do your damnedest to keep the others safe. During the Night Phase, you may designate a player to protect (including yourself). This player cannot be killed during that night. You cannot protect the same player twice in a row. The Guardian wins with the Villagers.
    • Outsider: There's something strange going on in this town. Or maybe there is something strange about you. The Outsider is a special additional role that modifies their existing one. If they are targeted by the Seer or Sorcerer, the Seer/Sorcerer will be given a false answer (e.g. The Seer will get a positive result for Werewolf if they target an Outsider Witch, and a negative result if they target an Outsider Werewolf). The Outsider wins with their original role affiliation.
    • Cursed: An ancient rage runs deep in your blood. Perhaps this is what will unleash it...? The Cursed villager is a regular, simple villager. Up until you are bitten by the Werewolves. At that point, you become another Werewolf instead of dying. If not bitten, the Cursed wins with the Villagers. Otherwise, the Cursed wins with the Werewolves.
    • Fool: ...This is all a game. This is all just a terrible, hilarious game, and nobody else understands. The Fool has a special win condition: get lynched. Not bitten by the wolves, not shot by the Hunter, or anything else. If they are lynched, they win and everyone else loses. End of story.

Edit: Added some more roles as the roster has expanded. Remember that not all roles will be given out.

    Day 1

You gather yourselves, looking around the circle of houses that you find yourself in. You take your eyes off the gallows in the center, but something tells you that you will be drawn back to it soon enough.

Take this opportunity to familiarize yourself with the others. The meager daylight will not last long, and before the night sets you must all return to your cottages to sleep the night through.

Well. Some of you, at any rate.

    Special Event

You have a special task to accomplish on this first day. You must vote for a Captain! The Captain is a special role, taken in addition to your assigned role. In case of a tied vote to lynch, whoever the Captain voted for will be chosen. If the Captain dies, they choose their successor.

    Rules:
    • You are free to react to the day's events and revelations, talk to the other characters, or accuse someone. You do not have to tell the truth, and can lie about anything as much as you want. It's up to you to convince the other players.

    • There is a 500 word maximum for posts.
    • Until you use the section in the template to name a player, your vote is not final and will not be counted. You can change your mind until you use that section in the template. Do not edit the post in which you cast your final vote.

    • There is no strict posting cooldown, but please be considerate of other people.

    • If you would like to interact with someone, tag them with @Name

    • Please do not talk about your role elsewhere on site, or on Discord, or otherwise. Keep to the spirit of the game! And do not contact other players privately. If you'd like to speak or make deals with others, it must be done publicly in this thread.

    • If you cannot post, PM me your vote or message me on Discord, preferably through PM. This is not anonymous, and your vote will still be made public.
    Code:
    Post Here

[center][d]Vote: Player name[/d][/center] (Only when you are ready to make your final vote. Delete this otherwise.)

Note: Sorry about the confusion with getting 2 roles, guys! The one labeled 'Final Role' is the one you should be going with now.

  3. Corvella made sure that she wasn't drunk or anything of sort. She did remember that she was drinking a few, though. Instead she found herself in the middle of a small cottage alone, like she was brought here unconscious. Looking around, she found nothing else worth mentioning. She then decided to walk out of the cottage, opening a wooden door that leads directly outside, revealing a circle of houses around her. This situation do look familiar, but hazy her memory was, she could not think of anything.

Then her eyes stopped on the noose hanging in the middle of the circle. Corvella shivers and began to shout out to anyone else that might be here "Anybody here? Hello?" Trying to grasp the current situation, she walked around and even knocked on some of the cottage doors.

  4. Off to Dreamland? Or...
    img "Yaaaaaawwwwwwn!"

Two pink eyes opened as a girl just entering her teens awoke. Her eyes blinked as she rubbed them and she saw she was in a village. A village? Wait where was her house! Jojo!? Did she forget to walk him today?! Wendy jumped to her feet and looked down to see a magical girl outfit on. Oh... oh right... she was um... in magical girl mode. Why couldn't she remember her name for the character?

"I'm still in Terrasphere... um maybe? Hey! I remember that! Cool beans! Gosh Wendy, what would..."

Wendy shook her head, it did not feel normal. What was she doing just a few minutes ago? Sleeping? Wasn't she in field with that big cat person and the tall archer lady? What happened after that? Her head felt really light, almost like she was walking in a dream. VR could do some nifty things couldn't it? Wasn't she drinking not too long ago? Wait....

"Drinking's bad for you and I'm too young anyway! Gee whiz, I... I-I don't want to end up like Roland! I'm so happy he got over it!"

Wendy felt as if something was off. The village, the day, herself... she just could not put a finger on it. As she wandered about she decided to cup her hands around her mouth and call for anyone nearby. She was starting to feel scared all alone in this ghost town...

    "Hello! ..Anyone?!"

Wendy needed a little help because she seriously did not know what to do right now.

  5. Gwyn might have gotten a bit carried away with the drinking, but she was overly competitive by nature after so many years of so many different kinds of sports. Switching to something that could be done either solitary or with help and good company like rock-climbing had been good for what temper simmered low and hidden between her ribs. The drinking had lit the fire once more and she had craved a good fight without risk for once. Well, beyond the risk of alcohol poisoning.

She lifted herself off the rough, wooden floorboards and huffed at the dirt and dust clinging to her clammy skin. It was oddly humid and she stood on uneasy legs like a newborn foal. Definitely went overboard with the drinking. The light set off an awful pulse through her skull as she pulled open the door, but it was a secondary concern. Where was she? At that thought, how had she gotten here in the first place? When did she pass out? Sabine and Gwyn shared being a bit of a stupid drunk, but sleepwalking definitely wasn't in her usual purview. Facing the low hum of danger that made her hairs stand on end was.

The sight of the gallows put her concerns to rest like a lame dog past their prime. That... did not bode well. She could hear the creak of tightly bound and twisted fibers and it sang to her in a way so unlike the creak of her climbing equipment. It beckoned with a dirge, like the twang of her bowstring.

Corvella's voice cut the silence as the woman knocked on the door of a cottage nearby and a small bit of her relaxed at the sight of someone familiar. Another joined, an eerily peppy and bright thing considering the wall of fog and the spaces between the cottages that felt like miles. The day did nothing to quell the absence of comfort in this place.

"Anyone else got a hang-over from hell? Or know where we are? Guess that's the more pressing question. We're certainly not in Kansas anymore."

  6. Mizuki woke up, heterochromatic eyes opening and focusing until she could see the wooden floor that she was laying on. It took about a second for her to realize that this wasn't where she had fallen asleep, most definitely not a place she had been before. Of course here in Terrasphere most buildings had wooden floors, but as she had become more accustomed to life in this game she had also become more used to recognizing things by smell, and the smell was already enough to make it clear to her that this wasn't a place she knew.

She quickly pushed herself off of the floor as she looked around, eyes narrowing as she took in the sight of the cottage around her. It looked like a normal cottage for this world, but the fact that there was nobody else was very strange, especially since Mizuki was quite sure that it wasn't her own actions which brought her here. Magic? She couldn't remember the circumstances in which she had fallen asleep, so she could either have been drunk from the festival, drugged, or someone had used magic to make her pass out. For now she couldn't actually sense any strong magic nearby... which didn't actually make her feel any better about the situation.

Opening the shutters on the windows she looked outside, through the fog noticing that there are other houses which look very similar. However there's something strange about them, just as there's something strange about all of this. The Caenis's tail went up in irritation as she opened the door, waiting for a couple of seconds before exiting through one of the windows instead. It wouldn't really make sense for someone to bring her here only to then spring a trap on her when she opened the door to get out, but just because it didn't make sense didn't mean there weren't people who'd do it anyway. Instead she used the fog through her advantage as she stealthily made her way towards one of the other houses, studying it as she used her investigation mode to help deal with the fog and improve her sensory input.

Unfortunately the other house didn't give her any information either, until she heard someone yelling. Two people, actually. And there were more gathering in the midst of all these houses which together formed a circle...

"Going by your shouting you also don't know why you're here." Mizuki commented as she stopped hiding and instead approached @Magi Heart, pointing towards the gathered people and the noose in the middle of this strange place. "I don't know what's going on but I think it would be best if we spoke with the others who got here... And maybe find out if any one of them got here willingly." She didn't have much hope in that regard, but she still headed for the little circular clearing with the noose in the middle.

  7. The last thing the young girl could remember was her one-sided battle in drinking all of the Ale, before the others could, to save the others. A heroic attempt that ended in... a headache? No. Not quite. Her head was clear and she could definitely think straight, not that the influence of alcohol ever reduced her judgment in the first place as she was a hero after all, BUT even Seigi understood that right now, right here, Stranger Things were going on.

Maybe she... no, never. The hero girl was too awesome to die. Even if she were to die she'd simply refuse. That easy. So, instead, the most logical conclusion Seigi made was that this was in fact, a dream. Her dream! A super lucid dream. Maybe she passed out from all the drinking and now this?

The girl didn't have all too much experience with alcohol in the first place so maybe it was totally normal to have such a realistic dream once someone became super drunk? Of course, Seigi hadn't been drunk at all!

Nonetheless. Whatever this was. Sitting around in this cozy cottage wouldn't change anything. Thinking too much was kinda annoying anyways, too. Act first, then think. That's how it should be done. So, as Seigi heard some voices from... outside? She quickly went through the door to meet with the others!

The gallows was conveniently ignored, because why would a hero's dream need that anyway, for a second as Seigi caught the last few words of a Wolfy girl! Woah. She looked just as fluffy as this other-other Felis she met quite a while ago. Not even her loyal side-kick was so fluffy! Clearly, something she had to bring up to Val once she got the chance.

"I can answer your confusion!" Seigi simply butted into the conversation as she talked directly from behind @Ueno Mizuki "I am having a lucid dream right now and you're just figments of my super wild imagination!" Yeah. Simple as that?!

  8. "Huh...? Where am I...?" The girl mused, looking around her and finding herself lost in a bleak home that clearly wasn't her own. It couldn't be her own- she didn't have the money for player housing yet. In fact, she didn't have skills to open a shop anyway, besides at the faire.

Wait, the faire! What happened to the faire? And what about her flower stall? Nope, her memory was too foggy, and it wasn't from drinking or anything like that. She hadn't had a sip because it felt too dangerous for her at this point. She had other things to focus herself on, and she was happy with that...

When she wandered to the center of the housing circle, she couldn't help wondering why the area reminded her of someplace from a game. Well, besides the fact she was still a Faerin, and as such clearly in the game she'd been in before. Seeing others, including a familiar face or two, Harveste rushed to the one person she knew for sure, though heard words from another she'd met vaguely at a booth when she was handing flowers out on one of her 'off shifts'.

To @Seigi's words, the girl mused rather awkwardly, "But how do you know you're not a figment of my imagination instead? Only I would imagine someone I could manage to beat at arm wrestling considering I'm a weakling. Even if it was obvious you were going easy on me to make me feel better about that." With a giggle, she ran to the side of @Gwyn ap Herne, tugging on her blouse. Familiar faces made anything less scary, didn't they?

"And I've met Gwyn before~ We did a biiig quest together~ So... Only I would dream of someone I know, right? Though I'd rather be dreaming of someone else in particular..." The throbbing of her head said she wasn't dreaming, though. That, and the others seemed as confused as she was. Gwyn even noted a hangover. "So, to be sure... Everyone here was at the faire last the know, right? Sounds like you were at the drinking contest, right Gwyn? For me... Last thing I remember was that i was working on growing some four leaf clovers to give out to wish people luck at some of the luck-based games..."

  9. Strange. This was Alkaid's first thought when she raised her hand to see Terrasphere's usual palm UI open. She didn't remember falling asleep at the Faire, nor being whisked away to the unfamiliar surroundings she now found herself in.

In truth, this was not her first experience with something akin to visions. As a natural aftereffect of drawing power from what was only known to her as "elsewhere" in-game, she could've sworn to seeing flashes of outlandish locations, however, that was exactly where the line was drawn. No feeling, no lasting images.

Coughing up a hefty amount of dust, Alkaid tried to gain her bearings as she looked around the cottage she was apparently lying down in. The first thing to hit her was the smell, faint yet rancid, which reminded her of wet dog. And although the cottage looked comfortable enough with a nice fireplace and a cozy bed, something about it just didn't feel lived in -- like a condominium whose owner had left some time ago.

Wanting to escape the smell, Alkaid looked through a window to see figures outside standing in some sort of town square and carefully made her way outside, unsure if this whole scenario wasn't some kind of trap. A fact that certainly wasn't helped as she looked around and saw the Kafkaesque fog. After listening in for a second, Alkaid became a bit more confident that she was seeing actual players, though, and piped in, "Last I remember I was at the faire too, yeah. Although I don't recall signing up to star in some creeper's take on Silent Hill."

She then nodded to the gallows at the area's center. "Especially not with that."

Already she could see it as the perfect horror set. It's base hidden by a thick fog. A body hanging limp from the noose, only momentarily revealed by a beam of moonlight as a wolf howled in the distance. She shuddered at the thought.

"That said, I can't say I'm as familiar with anyone as some of you seem to be with one another. Any of you have someone you'd recommend to get a headcount and keep tabs on everyone in case monsters pop out or something? I keep thinking this is some kind of event, but I haven't seen any like this yet."

  10. She listened to @Alkaid Zexis and her input on the situation. Harveste hadn't seen this 'Silent Hill' before, but she'd heard about it enough to know that the relationship between the two situations intimidated her further than she could handle. The shivers made her body tingle, mind trying to throw away the thought.

"I have to admit, I wouldn't likely sign up for something that involves something so creepy either... The entire framework is pretty macabre, as it should be... But isn't it a bit too real...?" She thought of walking closer to the gallows, but opted to stay put where she was.

It was too much. It was all just too much.

Not long after, to her relief, the subject changed a bit- it changed to the idea of who should be the leader of this group of misfits, who should be in charge of keeping an eye on their numbers. Such a person would surely have to be reliable... But Harveste only knew a couple of faces here- and it wasn't like she knew either of the two she recognized all that well.

"Of the few I know... I'm well aware Gwyn is reliable. We did the Brisshal Completionist together, and she really helped me out a lot during the entire thing. She's really insightful, from what I've seen of her... So I'd definitely trust her with the job, if she wouldn't mind doing it." Smiling up at the tall vixen of a familiar face, the smaller girl smiled. "What do you think? Would you be up for it, Gwyn?"

  11. With a heavy sneeze that seemed to travel to the brain, Comet rubbed her blurry eyes before lifting herself from the ground. The surroundings weren't as important as the headache knocking against her skull. However, when realizing she hadn't passed out of the festival, the rapid beating of her heart began. The quick and steady drum paired with varying amounts of pain throughout her body had Comet sick to the stomach. Fighting back heaves the pink-haired woman pushed her way past the door of the house. Blue eyes warily scanning the surroundings, lithe limbs shaking with unknown anxieties, a sigh of relief pushed past pale lips upon spotting a pretty face. "@Corvella !" she managed to speak albeit surprisingly softer than expected. The blonde had been her savior once and therefore the same luck could occur again. Comet stuck to this thought as an uneasiness washed over her regarding the overall creepiness of the odd location and gloomy atmosphere. She slipped an arm around the other's without much thought.

Attention had been brought to @Alkaid Zexis who's suggestion wasn't half-bad considering the frightening situation. "Having a headcount is a good idea. Let's keep each other safe. Isn't that most important?" with a flip of the hair she raised her voice from a faint call to a concerned shout for others to hear. And, hopefully, agree with. For Comet yearned to have control but frankly would go with any decision that meant surviving in a crowd of potential player killers. All that mattered? Herself... and maybe Corvella, too, whom she owed her temporary life. "Even if we're strangers, that can be easily fixed. We should get to know each and stick together." This practiced voice of gentle assertion and genuine care entwined itself with Comet's tone; pretty face twisted into a forced expression of simple kindness.

  12. Megan lazily rolled over on the wooden floor, her snores tearing through the wooden shack like a sawmill. A sudden change in her breathing accompanied with a long gasp for air indicated her state of restfulness. "Ngggg five more minutes..." she moaned while curling into a ball while shrugging her hat off and using it as an impromptu pillow. The various shouts and speeches did not seem to rouse the young magician from her slumber as soon she once again began to snore peacefully on the wooden floor.

    edit: Megan abstains to vote.

Heads up! You've got 24 hours to vote for your captain. You are certainly still free to talk amongst yourselves, but I'd recommend keeping posts short and mostly dialogue in that case, so you can still continue conversations. In 24 hours, or sooner if everyone has their votes in, I'll begin Night Phase and whoever has the most votes will be designated the captain.

Note: You're free to nominate yourselves!

@Comet has voted for herself to be Captain.

  14. Shortly after, Corvella recognized familiar faces, mainly @Comet and @Gwyn ap Herne, at least she isn't here alone. While nothing here makes sense, at least with someone taking a charge some decisions would be easier to make. "How about Gwyn? I can trust her with decisions."

    Night 1

Having won two votes, @Gwyn ap Herne is your Captain. If ever there is a tie in a future vote to lynch, the Captain's choice will be sent to the gallows.

    -----

You while away most of the day. The fog is impenetrable, the fields devoid of anything useful. Perhaps you chat with your fellows, trying to figure out what is happening.

But as the sun sets, you all feel a strong compulsion to return to the house in which you woke up. The interior is the same for each of you: a single rectangular room with sturdy strong walls, with a single open window. A wooden table in the corner, a ragged straw-stuffed mattress to one side, and not much else.

Before you go to sleep, you see thin beams of moonlight streaming into the room. Were you to look out the window, you would see a vibrant, full moon watching you back.

    It's beautiful. It's so beautiful.

    -----
Night Phase has begun. I'll be messaging all players who have actions to take during the night, and the next day will resume when I have gotten all your results in.

    Rules:
    • No posting until the next Day Phase has begun.

    • Please do not talk about your role elsewhere on site, or on Discord, or otherwise. Keep to the spirit of the game!

    • PM me on site or message me on Discord when you are prompted for actions, preferably through Discord.
