Personality
Valdrada uses her game character as a chance to act out. She's had enough of following along with whatever people say just because they're older than her, so she will refuse to go along with orders that she doesn't like. If there is clear reasoning that she can agree with, then she doesn't have a problem with following orders. She is quite logical and thinks through things carefully to make decisions.
Due to not having much chance to interact with others, especially not many people her own age, Val is painfully awkward. She is desperate for friends. Despite her good head for tactical thought, she's much more naive socially and can be easily manipulated by someone who knows what they're doing. Due to being praised for her intelligence for much of her life, her sense of self-worth is mostly tied to her accomplishments, and she gets discouraged easily when things don't come easily to her.
Positive: Thoughtful, Curious, Studious
Negative: Anxious, Awkward, Rebellious
Biography
Valerie lived a normal life for most of her childhood, until she discovered a chess board when she was 6 years old. She handily beat her two older siblings and her parents, and that was the beginning of the end as far as she was concerned. Her parents became obsessed with making her a Grandmaster, and chess essentially took over her entire life from then on.
She won the title of International Master at the age of 12, but that wasn't enough for her parents. She only had a year to reach Grandmaster to break the world record for youngest female Grandmaster, after all! Her schoolwork suffered because her parents pushed chess so hard, she found it difficult to make friends because all she was ever supposed to do in her free time was practice, practice, practice, and she felt like her sister resented her for how much of her parents' attention she held.
Her only way out was Terrasphere. From the day she saw that advertisement on television, she'd been hooked on the idea of a fantasy escape. She begged her brother to let her use his VR console, and was finally able to forget about the immense pressure that her parents and teachers put on her and just enjoy having fun.
