Whose up for a bad time?

What could be said about a warm summer night? The luminescent masterpiece painted across the vast, blanketing canvas? The cool breeze that gently embraced your psyche, soothing it and replenishing your inner workings for another day? He was rooted deep into the smooth jazz that was a warm summer night; he was a plant in dire need of it's nutrients. With eyes narrowed, let out a deep sigh and engulfed the calm yet ever-so-positive vibes.

"Nothin' more beautiful than the night sky." His hands rested comfortably in his pockets "It doesn't bring you disappointment. It won't break your heart. It doesn't stab your back and it most certainly leave you to die." His eyes narrowed "Nah, me and the sky got something beautiful going on tonight. Maybe it's love at first glance? Who can really be sure. I just know if it doesn't stop flirting with me like this, I might just have to act on it." Lowering his head to now face the tower yet again, he came across a woman constantly being rejected by the travelers crossing her path as she relentlessly stopped and spoke to them.

"P-Please! You don't understand! W-Wait! Just-- augh, hold on a minute! Hey, where are you going?! Come on, please?! Don't abandon me like thissss!" Eventually giving up, she fell to her knees; lightly sobbing as Simon approached her shortly after. "Y..You! You can help me right?!" She clutched tightly onto the fur of his azure jacket, a look of desperation on her face. "You have to help me!! Please, I have nobody else to turn to!!" Simon lightly placed his hands on her own "Woah now, let's keep it chill...what's the haps here?" As his soothing tone managed to set her at ease, she inhaled and exhaled before continuing in a shaky voice.

"I don't have the money to pay adventurers in triple digits, I.." She remembered what he said, breathing again before clinching her fists "I don't have much...I'm not the greatest adventurer as you may have noticed." Looking down, she bravely continued "When I was up on Floor 3, I was abandoned for not being able to keep up the pace. Which is fine I..I'm used to being a disappointment. I just lost a necklace that means the whole world to me; I don't know what I'll do without it." With the last ounce of courage remaining, she popped the question "Will..well..do you think you could go up there and retrieve it for me? I won't be able to pay handsomely but what I do have I'll try my best to compensate."

Honestly, Simon had been in better spirits than normal. Without the night sky to guide him, he probably would've followed the same path as the others and kept on moving yet..this girl's desperation..it reminded him so much of his younger brother when there was something he really wanted to have. Keeping that in mind, there wasn't any way he could say no was there? Just as he opened his mouth to speak, he was interrupted by an all-too-familiar voice.

"If there is a chance to make someone smile, I'll lay my life down trying."

    "You again..."

As he gaze befell the new arrival, he was met with none other than Hinabi; an adventurer he'd just recently traveled with prior to this encounter. "What's it with you and the ladies, man? You a womanizer or somethin'?"

"If there is a chance to make someone smile, I’ll lay my life down trying.” Hinabi smiled faintly as he approached, seeing the male from before rose a slightly wider smile before the comments of the man caused a frown to cross the Runarl’s face. His left hand rising to show the wedding rings on his ring finger as his face grew dark. "My love only was for one women and my child before I lost them. I simply wish to see the smiles of those who have yet to lose as much as I have sir.” A dark tone as he moved towards the dungeon.

He was dressed the same as always, His old hooded cloth worn to hide his Falna on his back, the sign rope around his neck to hold the cloth down against his back while he waved his support bag and moved along. Staff pressing to the ground with a light tap every other step as she enjoyed the night breeze. "If I can make a suggestion sir, it might be best to wait until day to enter the dungeon. This place has a rather rude night crew walking the halls, from personal experience I can say that.”

Left hand pointing to a few of his scars he had gotten when the group he had been with thought staying the night on the first floor was a wise idea. A light sigh as he recalled having gotten no cut from that support job because they claimed him being so slow was why they had to stay the night. The forgot he also was the one who gave them a good fifteen minute running start with his magic wall when their camp got overrun. Looking to the male he awaited his choice, Hinabi would do his best as a tank day or night.

Insensitivity, while expected of him, was not something he particularly cared for. Just knowing that if he'd lost Zazue to some unfortunate event, he wouldn't want some random stranger kick dirt in his face about it. As his own expression dropped a bit, he spoke in a somewhat apologetic tone. "Oh..jeez, that's not groovy at all. My condolences to you and yours, my man." With that dark tone out of the way, he looked towards the tunnel.

As Romeo suggested that they return in the day to traverse the dungeon, Simon rubbed his chin lightly before pondering such. At this time, the young troubled girl stepped forward, attempting to shake off the initial blush from meeting the Runarl. "U-Uhm yes; yes I think he's right. D-Doing this during the night time, despite how beautiful the sky looks, wouldn't do you any good but get killed." She looked towards Hinabi "H-He's already lost so much..." She gazed down at the ground once more "..I would hate to see him lose anything else..and on my behalf of all things.."

Simon couldn't stand it when people acted in such a manner, it bothered him to his very core. Reaching over and grabbing her right shoulder, he looked at her reassuringly. "Dig this, Casanova over here isn't losing anything to nobody." Confidently he smiled "He and I have danced with monsters in the past, this'll be cake for us." She nodded, calming down once more. "Alrighty then pal, we'll go with your suggestion and come back tomorrow during the day. I'd say about mid-morning so we have enough time to get out before it gets dark." As he took his hand off her shoulder and slid both back into his pockets he turned around and gazed back at the night sky.

"Don't be late you two, we don't want to waste any time if we're travelling to Floor 3." She gasped "W-Wait, you mean I'm coming with you?!" He chuckled "How else are we supposed to point your necklace out? Anyway, if you'll excuse me.. I've got a date with the beautiful summer night's sky." With that, he was off; taking time to relax before the trouble that would surely come their way.

    @Hinabi

In your next post, just go ahead and time skip until tomorrow. I'll have the NPC enter with Simon or if you wanna have some chit chat with her in your post go on ahead. I think this'll be my last post for tonight.

  4. Emily’s pendant

Early morning was a bit of a hard time for Hinabi, since his Familia was rather far out of the way he had to spend the night in town under a tree. Though he did not mind the scenery, but figured his goddess would lecture him for being out the entire night no doubt. As the morning approached he had woke to get to the tower early then planned. His sign still slung around his neck while he moved his staff almost like a spear user would for combat. He might not want to raise his fist against others again, but he wanted to keep it in his muscle memory should he truly have to break his own oath.

After a few thrust and downward slashes he would slam the staff to the ground and look to his two rings with a pained gaze. "if only you could see the kids these days… It truly might be the era someone cleared the dungeon like you had wished for…” Staff rising upward before thrusting it a few times while pacing forward like he was fighting a wind spirit. Right arm quickly spinning along with the staff before he stopped a few inches from hitting something he heard from behind him, his gaze slowly moving as he looked slightly worried.

"Sorry about that, I seem to be a bit to alert and worried when people get to close it seems.” Staff lowing to his side as he looked at the figure with a gentle smile and closed eyes. He did not know just who it was, but he was still too tired to focus on someone’s defining details at the moment.

  5. Raime wouldn't react at the staff moved towards his head. The undead monster, for that was what the summon was, was somewhat incapable of pain. His main benefit to the sorcerer and summoner Nezuel was mainly his tankiness and his ability to get from one place to the next quite quickly...despite the rusty armor he wore. Of course that would all change on a whim from his summoner master...yet do do so at that moment and in response to a staff almost hitting Raime would be quite suicidal and unnecessary. Some might consider the odd nature of having a summon out at such a time of day or summoning him before entering the dungeon...yet to understand his actions one would have to understand the spell...and that was something Nezuel would keep to himself. Suffice to say that as long as he didn't actively engage Raime he could keep him around for quite some time...if things needed to be settled quickly, however, he could be persuaded to finish things quickly.

"I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't assault my friend" the high elf Nezuel would say, his blood red eyes glancing across the Runari. He was near the dungeon and had a weapon...adventurer then? What was he here for...perhaps this could be used to my advantage. Such were the thoughts going through the High Elf Nezuel's mind as he inspected the man. Perhaps he would kill him...but that would make no sense and serve no purpose. He had a staff...was he a mage? Perhaps a monk. Certainly those professions wern't the only ones to use the blunt instrument...but it did make things seem more likely. He could have had Raime stab him through with his sword...if normal mage logic applied. Judging by the rust on the staff he wasn't exactly highly ranked, new perhaps. "Its quite alright." the mage would say, after all Raime was undead and a burst of decaying air was hardly the way to start a first impressions. "though I have to wonder why exactly you are on high alert in the first place. Nezuel" There was no reason to act hostile over a simple almost accident.

Whose up for a bad time?

"Baby.. our time last night with magnificent." Stretching, he sat up on his bed, letting out a hefty yawn and stretching once more. "I never knew I'd see so many colors in one sitting. Don't forget the way the light shined as you and I made the greatest of memories together." Smiling widely, he stared at a picture he'd taken of during his "session". "Yeah.. people can say what they want about love but I'll never find anything as sensational as you, beautiful." Holding it up, the identity of the picture was finally revealed "The Summer Night Sky.. I'll never find anything like you." He made his way to the window, his eyes widening as he bore witnesses to the most gorgeous sunrise he'd ever laid eyes upon.

"I wonder if it's too late to start believing in Polygamy.."

    ...

Fast forward to Simon making his way out of his humble abode; his eyes to the sky as he headed toward the tower once more. "Baby, if you keep staring at me like that I might become unfaithful.. but only this once, and you can't tell The Night, okay?" Seemingly awestruck by yet another vivid painting plastered across the light blue canvas, he'd seemed to be having a pleasant go of things until he was abruptly interrupted by the sound of a crash.

"Ooof!..Ohhh.. I can't do anything right, can I?" Turning his head towards the familiar voice, he soon approached the person in question. "Emily?" She looked up, a mess of things below her as Simon squatted down to aid her. "O-Oh it's you again! I didn't expect to see you first of all people, I thought I'd see H--.." She was immediately silenced by his hand "Stop.. I do not want to hear anymore." She nodded lightly as he let go "B-But he's so handsome!" Sighing, Simon grabbed onto her things and continued down the path.

"W-Wait, Simon, hold on! Don't just leave me like this! I'm the one who gave the quest in the first plaaacccee!!"

    ...

"So if we run into some trouble, you'll protect me right?" Emily looked over to Simon, nudging him slightly "Is this why you were left behind? Because you're utterly useless in combat?" Her cheeks puffed up as she took a defensive stance "Hey! I know how to fight like the best of em." She stood for a moment, pretending to take jabs at the sky as if she were a professional boxer "One two, left right, ohhh and Emily for the win! Aahhh and the crowd goes wiillld! Emily just defeated the toughest boss in the entire tow--" She paused to notice Simon staring at her awkwardly. Embarrassed beyond belief, she scratched her head and continued as Hinabi soon came into focus.

    "Hina--"

    FWWWSSSH

Before she could blink, Hinabi nearly slammed his staff into whomever had been behind him. A light blue hue emitted from Simon's palms as his eyes narrowed. "Him again.. damnit, why'd that guy have to show up?" As it eventually faded, Simon stood clearly in front of Emily as he approached the two individuals before him. "Nazuel, great of you to join us...again." As Emily laid eyes on the red eyed elf, her jaw dropped as her cheeks flushed with a cherry red. "H-h-h-he's...drop dead gorgeous!!"

    ...Damnit Emily...

"Is he coming on the quest too? Oh please please please tell me he is! I won't go another step unless we take this.. willing traveler.. with us!" Giving a more exhausted sigh, Simon slammed his palm against his forehead and turned toward the Tower. "We don't have the time for this." He began walking "You three coming or are we just gunna sit there? Come on, time is of the essence people!"

    God damnit, Emily.

Hinabi rolled his eyes behind his eyelids before following behind Simon. His staff lightly tapping the ground every step as he spoke faintly. "That elf sets me off… Dark magic is never something a mage should pursue…” His words held little proof to be honest, but that was what he felt when around the elf. Foul magic arts that caused him to growl inside and think about the other dark mages he had to deal with in his life. But leaning back slightly he looked towards Emily. "Glad to see you joining us this morning Emily. Sorry we could not do this without you, none of us … or i know at least i was never good at finding jewelry.” He chuckled fainting showing his sharp teeth for a moment before closing his mouth.

Hinabi had little else he could do at the time other then tap his staff and hum lightly. It was always good to be in a good mood when you entered the dungeon, calm in both mind and body. The living building would break you down much faster if you entered any other way. "So then, who is ready to enjoy a relaxing maybe suicidal trip to the deeper floors of the dungeon?” His tone made it clear he was joking but he was trying to liven everyone up and get them alert, being to relaxed also got you killed after all.

  8. From the way the Runarl seemed to respond to Nezuel he figured he wasn't a fan of either him, his ways, or his looks and their effect on Emily. He could hardly help himself...if people disliked who he was then there was nothing he could do about it. People were molds, weapons, bayonets shaped by the choices and outcomes of their lives. They were molded by the world to become something to mold the world itself, to keep the wagon spook spinning another turn and another season. He could understand the man not liking him for who he was but not respect him for his decision.

Upon his ways, however, he could see a slight glimmer of hope and the understanding of the layman. It would be obvious to all of those that met Nezuel while Raime was present as to the nature of his abilities. Yet at the same time Magic was not something that you chose...unless you had acquired a very rare grimoire then the magic you had, which having magic at all was rare, was magic that you had been born with. He had been born with the dark magic he now used and refined...or had it chosen him. Too many times had he had to justify his ways to those like the Runarl and the question was simple. Was it better to be born with the disposition to do evil and make something better of yourself...or to have been born with the disposition to do good and stay good...which was the better accomplishment, to stay to your nature or overcome it?

Naturally his looks and the effects is had upon the quest giver were but another weapon for him to use. When magic and arms fail then a pretty looking face and a silver tongue should suffice. Even if both of the adventures didn't want him on this expedition he believed it was up to her to make the final decision. 'I would love to accompany such a beautiful woman as yourself, m'lady." He'd say, approaching her and offering his hand as he lifted her own to his lips for a kiss upon the back of her hand. With that he and Raime would enter the dungeon with his new companions...even if they were only temporary.
