Athena Familia Goddess: Athena Epithet: Preserver of Peace Type: Community Oriented, Dungeoneering & Quests Home: Temple of Athena Locale: Slums, border of the Trade District Overview The Temple of Athena is an imitation of the Parthenon that was erected in her honor. Ionic pillars support a massive ceiling, everything in crafted with marble and granite and every room has a purpose, with many built to house members of the familia that cannot afford a residence of their own. Athena's residence is scarcely decorated with furniture, for the moment, everything in minimalist in order to cut down on costs and to create more room for whatever purposes they have. There is however, a central hall that could house a banquet but is often used for training. Where a statue in Athena's honor would normally be, instead stands a brazier that is always lit to illuminate the building from within. Athena Familia is a relatively new familia that Athena established in order to uphold and preserve peace in Orario. Ever since her father, Zeus, set into motion events that might destabilize the world she has taken it upon herself to descend to the plane of mortals and influence the world in a positive manner - specifically by maintaining peace and order. Her focus is not actually centered in enriching her familia, but rather, it is the common good of Orario and by extension, the world which matters to her. Making her familia wealthy and influential is simply a means to an end for the goddess. Fortunately, Athena is the kind of goddess that excels at administration so even this late into the game, she's convinced she can raise a familia that will become a force to be reckoned with in time. She will not simply accept the strong into her familia, as strength is not the only standard she measures potential members by. A powerful duelist is one thing, but she doesn't enjoy war games and battle for it's own sake, but simply for the advantages that her familia gains from engaging in it. She therefore favors war-like undertakings if begun with prudence and if the chances of success are favorable. She expects her members to be wise and just, not merely strong in battle. If they cross the line, Athena will punish them accordingly and personally. Serious offenses can be met with expulsion from the familia or even being stripped of their falna, in extreme cases. She can accept those leaving other familia, but they must meet the same standards she expects of the members of her familia. Athena will often conduct three tests to those that seek membership to her familia - barring special cases where a test is not necessary as the aspiring member has already proven themselves. The three tests are as follows. Trial of Strength: Wherein Athena gives them a physical labour to accomplish, or one that can be performed with magic. This could - but may not always be - a trial by combat against her or a seasoned member of the familia. It could be a quest in itself. They do not have to win or succeed, but merely prove their worth. Trial of Mind: Wherein the mental acuity of the aspiring member is tested. This is very important to Athena, more than strength, as she is not a goddess of warfare first and foremost, but one of wisdom. One does not have to be intelligent in the scholastic sense, but exhibit wisdom. More than the other two, this trial is especially weighty to Athena. Trial of Spirit: Wherein Athena tests one's morality and willpower. The test can vary differently, or may not even be needed at all if the goddess has already seen for herself the nature of an aspiring member. One does not have to pass all three trials, but passing at least two is mandatory - and one of these tests must be the Trial of the Mind. Failing Athena's trials however, is not a final sentence. Applicants may return after a two weeks, if they feel as if they've improved. Athena will of course, educate them on what she perceives their weaknesses if they do fail. P.S. In rare exceptions where a character would absolutely pass Athena's trial based on how their character profile reads or their threads so far, I am willing to forgo the initiation part to expedite things. We can merely run a flashback/backdated thread if you wish to make it official. There is however, one other guideline, though not a hard rule. Athena may not accept applicants under eighteen years of age into her familia unless they demonstrate great maturity. She believes that while people are allowed to determine their own path in life, one must possesses a certain degree of maturity before she would even consider imparting Falna upon their person. Becoming an adventurer, in her opinion, is a life-changing decision and those without experience should not take the final step into becoming one because they lack the knowledge and wisdom to know what they are getting themselves into. OOC: Let's see.... yeah like 99% of this is Lilian to a T. Her biggest problems lie in her youth and what comes with that. Frankly this is the only god I ever see her even considering to work with unless Kessler goes and fulfills my challenge to make her all evil lol. The tests work great for a character that has a shonen protag like desire to improve and prove they are worthy of caring on the title of Hero. This will go excellent for her character development either way. Sign her up!
Do you wish for me to start the thread or shall you? Be warned, as much as I want more members OOC, I will endeavor to go out of my way to make the choice based on what happens in-character. This rule applies to everyone. (I am a sadist)
Hi, I know we talked on Discord, but you're still free to start the thread whenever. @Reina Pendragon
Celsius is uncertain about joining... henceforth, I deem that the initiation procedure is in order! It may help him open up to the idea of working with other Adventurers more often, and as a person in whole.
