Every Inch of Perfection [Closed]

Discussion in 'Trade Quarters' started by Korra Quinn, Oct 22, 2016.

  1. Korra let out a mellow chuckle hearing Parvati's urging. The talk of singing a story though made Korra chuckle sweetly nodding along as she began to rub her chin in thought. Though since it was Parvati's request, Korra wouldn't hold back, even licking her lips, she quickened the tempo with a dexterous hand, the sound of the strings quickened but remained mellow and relaxing as Korra leaned into Parvati's chest. Her posture, quite like it usually was when she leaned against Kirin, but Korra was clearly much more pleased with this placement as she started. "Sometimes these memories pull us under; we get lost talking and days go by~ But we're not getting any younger, and now it feels like war time has dragged us in this time. So we stay awake like we always do, when we try to recreate. And though nothing's changed; when I'm next to you, It just doesn't feel the same~"

Her song was mellow, but she'd cast a sweet glance up at Parvati briefly before continuing on pulling her knees up to be more relaxed as she continued idly. "I would never change, while our past is written in our bones it's who we are~. I just can't control where my mind goes, when it goes too far. So we stay away like we always do, when we try to recreate. Although nothing's changed; when I'm next to you, It just doesn't feel the same~" Her song was sweet but something good for relaxing as she watched the fire and the meet cook. If Parvati didn't push her away, she'd try to nuzzle into the other girl, platinum white hair brushing over the girl's skin as she got comfortable. The farther she got into the song though, the more complex the melody would become providing a warmer atmosphere.

Parvati let the young woman do whatever she wanted as she sang. She blinked at the sudden melody, it was like nothing she ever heard of before. She was fully engrossed in the song, talking about change and being beside someone. It was somewhat...she couldn't describe it, it was incredible beyond words to her.

She jolted back to reality when Korra nuzzled up to her. She blinked in surprise at the sudden gesture. Should she do the same thing? She didn't know what it meant, but she would do it if it was the correct thing to do. So she snuggled back, lightly, as not to disturb the bard from singing her song. Such gestures confused her, especially ones that came with touching. Ah well, she'll learn over time.

  3. When it seemed Parvati wasn't bothered by her affectionate snuggling, Korra ended up trying to rest her head against the woman's chest along with a bit of her weight as her voice began to slow even as the tempo quickened gently. Parvati seemed to notice the feelings of being beside someone though, it made Korra flash a mellow smile knowing she had songs that were 'powerful'. Giving it some thought, the Tempo grew a bit more relaxed from it's previously excited speed to make a more mellow atmosphere, one that suited Korra quite well as she sang in a softer voice. "Honey, I can be what you want me to be, giving you everything-- scale every tree. There always seems to be fireworks in my heart setting off, though I wish that they hadn't tried forcing us apart~ I promise I'd try to let this go but I can't breath-- If only they knew how much I'd fight for everything you need. Turning the space and time around us to waste, I know I'm losing you, I can see it in your face~"

It was a love song, though one that talked about loss, it was a song she'd heard from an adventurer in truth. The thought of it always made Korra a little sad, but it was also the motivator that pushed Korra. It was in writing this song she recalled the vivid tale of the man hanging onto the hand of someone who died in the dungeon trying to help people, leaving nothing to make the trip back with. Grabbing onto the hand of someone who was fading away. "Don't leave~" The chorus was simple at least, a simple two words repeated with a gentle melody between the repetitions, but it was one of Korra's stronger and more touching songs. She managed to get half way through before realizing the food was likely done, not wanting it to be overcooked, she slowed her notes with a warm grin up at Parvati. "Hungry yet?" She asked softly waiting for the girl to notice the food as well.

Parvati listened to the next song that was sung, tilting her head to one side slightly. It was a love song, that she was used to hearing when some bards sang in the streets for money. Indeed, she was used to it, but she never heard a love song sung in Orarian language before. It sounded....sad-ish.

As she listened to the song, she began to think of home and her future. Her mother said to bring home a man, but she hated men. How was she going to fulfill that request? And even so, she needed to slay a dragon. But perhaps she could as Korra for one of Kirin's scales, cheat a little. It's not like she wanted her mother's property anyway, but it would definitely be a slap to the face to her sisters, which she would relish.

She snapped out of her thinking when the song stopped and looked down at Korra, whose head was against her chest. She gave a slight nod. "I am. You sing well, story singer." She smiled softly as she sniffed the air. The smell of cooking was starting to make her mouth water, how had she not noticed? Ah well, they were going to eat anyway, might as well enjoy the moment while it lasted.

  5. Korra flashed a warm grin at the girl's compliment, there were many who thought the same about Korra after all, even if she was silly and cheesy, few could deny her ability in the art of song and music. It was for that reason entirely that she ended up attracting Kirin from the start after all. Though being complimented always made her think back to the same question that had drifted through her head. "You know, there's a legend-- That pure maidens with beautiful voices enough to move the world around them would be able to appeal and attract unicorns." She said with a mellow smile slowly setting her lute aside as she spoke. "It begs the question what kind of girl do you think would be capable of appealing to and attracting something like Kirin?" She asked looking up at Parvati with a mellow smile.

"Kirin isn't a unicorn though-- If that's the case, what kind of a creature does a girl like me really attract do you think?" She posed the question, though a glance at Kirin's ancestry would perhaps make the answer obvious. If Parvati was insightful enough to keep up with Korra's musings up til this point, Korra would flash a very wide and bright smile as she continued. "Do you think that only applies to creatures though?" She asked tilting her head adorably playfully teasing that there might be a little dragon in those drawn to her or her song.

"We should eat though, mm? It should be tasty right about now." She said reaching out for one of the skewers, trying to offer it to Parvati with a very bright smile, trying to take one herself to sink her teeth into it. The mellow spice and the faint sweetness of the meat was nice and welcoming, though the juice occasionally stained her chin forcing her to wipe it occasionally, she had a toothy smile between bites knowing this type of meal was no doubt one of her favorites.

  6. @Korra Quinn

Parvati tilted her head to the other side when she heard the legend. "There is no such thing where I am from," she said, "I have no knowing what a unicorn his, but perhaps this creature will come for Artemis..." She shook her head. "Perhaps not. She's not quite right, my sister..." She still had some unpleasant memories concerning her sister, but she would have to admit she was purer than the rest.

"I have no knowing what kind of girl you are, sadly, but perhaps its a good one if you are able to get such a shining creature?" she offered, not moving from her spot. She paused as she asked if it only applied to creatures. "Again, I have no knowing. Though for you maybe...something warm and helpful?" She shook her head. "Who knows."

She smiled as the meat was brought to her. "Thank you," she said, taking the skewer and biting down on a chunk of meat. She gasped at how hot it was before blowing on it and trying to take a bite out of it again. Her eyes lit up. "It's good," she commented, blowing on the meat and chewing on it. She, too, would wipe away drippings of juice every now and then.

  7. Korra chuckled a little hearing her consider whether or not her sister could call such a creature, in response, Korra shook her head slowly. It took a pure hearted person, someone overflowing with innocence and naivety to summon such a mythical creature of purity. People with darkness in their hearts or spirits would never be able to reach them, instead there was a chance they'd be hostile or call Bicorns instead and get body parts eaten. "If the unpure try it, they'd call monsters instead, the kind that nightmares and sad stories are made of~" Korra explained knowing the Bicorn legend well.

Though when Parvati seemed so adorably confused, Korra chuckled softly knowing that if she explained the drive for dragons to mate was strong enough to make them attempt to mate with other species, the girl might freak out. Instead, she maintained a happy silence while eating her skewered meat happily and contently. It was good, no doubt, they worked hard to make it well after all, of course it would turn out amazingly well.

After finishing her skewer off though, Korra gently handed Parvati a small bowl, it looked like it was made from clay, but there were scales inlaid into the exterior to make it harder to break from impacts. The scales were molded into the clay to keep it sturdy, but when she handed it off, she gestured to Kirin trying to fill the girl's bowl with broth before doing the same with her own as well. The broth was warm, but the smell of greens from it was strong despite it being meaty. Giving it a warm smell, she sipped the broth happily tasting the onion, the potato and other marrying elements. It was still warm, going right to her stomach making her warmer in the outside air. "Haaa... It is good isn't it?~" She asked with a bright smile.

"Ah, that so?" Parvati asked, "Then my other sisters will not be so good." Parvati privately admitted that she was just as impure as the rest of them, but she wasn't going to say that out loud. Out of all of Indila's daughters, Artemis was the most pure and childlike. It was a sad fact, but one that she accepted nonetheless.

The Amazoness was handed a bowl and she murmured, "Thanks you," as the broth was poured into her bowl. She blew on it a little before putting it down to finish her meat on a skewer. Once that was done, she put the stick down and once more grabbed the bowl, blowing on it again and taking a sip. "Mmm~" She sighed happily after taking several sips of the hot soup. "It's good," she said, smiling happily.

  9. Korra only chuckled back nodding along knowing what Parvati might be thinking about when it came to her family. After all there was no end to people who tried to imitate Korra's magic in the past and ended up experiencing tragedy. It took a rather unique personality to be someone like Korra who could reach out to dragons. "That's right~ Though it's best if people don't arbitrarily try my magic to prevent that type of occurrence~ It's far too much of a crap shot." She explained with a mellow chuckle.

Seeing Parvati blow on the bowl though, Korra tried once more to lean against the girl as she continued, trying to grab another skewer, occasionally dipping it into her bowl idly between eating and taking sips of broth and stew. "That's because we made it together right?" She offered a playfully romantic phrase before taking another bite, though as she leaned against Parvati, she began remembering her playful offer to teach her about sleeping outside. "I have a nice bed I keep with me always for sleeping out here, so it stays comfortable and closed up from bugs and the like too, did you have anything like that?" She asked raising her brows as she leaned against parvati's side once more.

  10. @Korra Quinn

Parvati just sipped her soup as Korra talked. She couldn't help but smirk and let out a snort of laughter at the line, "we made it together." It was honestly a little cute, how she said that. It was like a partner trying to be funny, something she appreciated in the supporter. It was nice just being with her, rather than a man.

"Ah, bed? Lucky," she commented as she tried to take another skewer, "I slept with nothing. Had to brave storms and cold when travelling." She grimaced at the thought of spending outside in snow. Not a pleasant thing to feel. "I am better now, though. Used to this country now." She gave her a smile as she took turns biting into her skewer and drinking the hot soup.

  11. Korra couldn't help a sweet chuckle at the girl's comment on having a bed being lucky. Korra slept outside after all, few would relate that to being lucky, a bed inside would no doubt be luckiest to most people, but Korra nodded back in agreement. When she said she slept with nothing though, she couldn't help a playful smile trying to nudge Parvati with a bright grin. "Nothing huh? Not even clothes?" She teased with a warm smile, but settling down from her playful imagination she took a deeper sip of meat from her bowl, holding it to her lips for a larger sip between bites from her next skewer.

Hearing Parvati being envious of her bed though, Korra didn't hesitate to explain with a mellow smile. "There's room enough for two in it you know? I made it that way on purpose." She admitted offering to Parvati with no ulterior motives at her core. While she did enjoy the thought of sleeping with her, sleeping and closeness was as far as those warm thoughts flickered. "Most people see it without even casting it a second glance though." She said with sweet and cute laughter finding herself to be very clever and resourceful when it came to her bed. "Want to see?" She asked in a teasing tone.

  12. @Korra Quinn

Parvati choked on her soup and began coughing up her lungs. "I- No!" she said once her coughing fit was done, "I slept with my clothes on. I like my clothes on me, preferably." She was blushing hard at that comment too. Unlike most Amazonesses, she preferred to not reveal any skin whatsoever to the world. To think about sleeping naked...well, the idea mortified her.

"A-Ah..." She tried to regain her composure after the comment, still somewhat flustered. The fact that Korra was insinuating things did not help one bit. "I-I am-" She mentally slapped herself as she coughed again. "I would...like to see it," she admitted, "But perhaps I do not need to sleep in it to find it comfortable? If you allowed that, that is." She realized what she said made no sense. "N-Never mind, ignore my words..."

  13. Korra couldn't help a very kind bout of laughter as the girl struggled to find the proper words. Almost tearing up, Korra gripped her stomach with a brilliant smile finding fun in the girl's worries. "It was just a joke-- You're so cute!" She couldn't help giggling to herself still, the flustered amazoness was just too darling after all. Though given enough time to calm herself and rub her sides after laughing, she eventually shook her head a little. "Hey hey--" She started reaching out for Parvati's hand, trying to give it a gentle squeeze, though if her hands were full with food, she'd aim for the girl's leg trying to rest a hand on her knee or thigh instead. "--Relax, hehe, it's not so bad sharing right?" She explained mellowing out after such a cute experience.

Downing her bowl of soup with a cute slurp though, she stood up reaching towards Kirin who was still holding the left overs. Pulling her saddle bags off of him, she brought it towards Parvati with a grin. "This's it though-- Clever huh?" She said holding it out for Parvati to feel. The bag itself from the outside looked like harsher fabric, but the interior was a soft and abundant linen that normally protected monster stones or injured adventurers. There were a few layers of linen lining the interior to keep it warm like sheets and quilts. "The Saddle itself is the middle part, and you just tie the front and back ends of the saddle together and it closes making a little room." She explained with a happy chuckle feeling really smart.

  14. @Korra Quinn

Parvati couldn't help but get flustered when she was called cute. Cute? That was a first, considering the reputation of Amazonesses being tough. Not that she didn't mind it, but she just didn't know how to react to the whole thing. It was exciting an uncomfortable at the same time, something she wish she could change.

Korra had grabbed ahold of her hand gently as she spoke softly, looking at the Amazoness. She looked into her eyes to see...something. It was difficult to tell what was going on behind those eyes, but they looked rather pretty in her opinion. "Hm, I guess," she relented, not sure how to handle the personal space issue.

Thankfully she didn't have to think about that anymore as Korra showed her the saddle that double as a nice soft bedding. She blinked in surprise at the saddle bags before smiling. "That is very good, better than good, actually," she said, "Where have you gotten that? I could send one to my mother, she loves to horse ride."

  15. Korra flashed a bright smile seeing Parvati's reaction, one by one keeping track of them with a bright and content smile. It seemed after all that the more the girl reacted, the more hope it would give her. Offering Parvati more soup and another skewer with a warm grin, Korra went back to relaxing against the girl as she drank her own second helping as well. This cute date was going better then she'd originally anticipated it seemed.

Though hearing Parvati ask where she got it though, Korra chuckled happily shaking her head in reply knowing that it wasn't something she bought. "I made it when I was younger. I made it as a tent first since I didn't have a place to live, then when Kirin started being a good boy, I turned it into a saddle. Now that I'm older, it's more of a bed then a tent though." She explained the history of the bag, knowing that it had turned from one thing to another throughout the course of her life, but followed her dutifully from start to finish. "I could make you one if you want, but the insides comes from Kirin, he'll need to grow more fluffy hairs to weave for it." She explained with a mellow smile.

Trying to open it up though, the inside was dark but comfortable and warm, sliding herself halfway inside, she rested her body against Parvati while they finished their meal. It wouldn't be until the end that she'd try to part the bag a bit wider with a smile. "We can camp out tonight together, if you like it, maybe we can do it more often mm?" She offered with a bright grin.

  16. @Korra Quinn

Parvati contentedly ate her food as she listened to Korra explain how the bedding was originally made. "Mm..." She swallowed her mouthful of food to make a comment. "Tent? Is that the..." She struggled to find the right word for it. "...The...thing with flaps as its opening? Sorry, I have no knowing of the correct word." She flashed her a sheepish gring as she returned to her food.

"I do not having mind for that," she said as the supporter offered to make one for her, "It would help when I once more travel." She flushed a slightly red color when Korra said they could camp together. "...I...Well, perhaps we can," she relented. She still had her room at the place she was staying at, but maybe thing would be more comfortable if she slept with someone else? She didn't know.

  17. Hearing Parvati struggling with the word 'tent' Korra couldn't help a playful chuckle thinking of how best to explain it. "Mmm... Tent, it's like a house or room made from cloth, when I was a child, I would use branches or sticks to prop it up. Back then it was big enough to be a small house for me though." She explained with a warm smile, nostalgic memories coming back to her as she remembered those times she was experimenting with how to make cheap housing after seeing her original home collapse from disrepair. Korra didn't know a thing about real houses but she improvised well enough.

Hearing her relent and give into sharing the bag though, Korra's grin brightened further. She wolfed down her last skewer before draining her last bowl of soup as well, clearly excited to make things comfortable. Her attitude was clearly much different compared to Parvati's when it came to such a thing, Korra's excitement might even be infectious as she gave her bowl a shake and began putting her skewers into the fire so they wouldn't attract other things. Kirin though naturally kept waiting for the leafy pot it was holding to be emptied and cleaned so it could eat those entrails.

  18. @Korra Quinn

"Ah, I see," Parvati said as she was finishing her bowl of soup. Well, you learn something new every day. In Parvati's case, it was a single word that she felt was commonly used in Orario. Two years of trying to learn the language didn't give her quite enough information to speak correctly like another Orarian, but she took what she got.

She began to eat her second skewer full of meat, taking note that Korra seemed to be excited. For what reason, she did not know. Munching contentedly on a peace of meat, she watched the girl finish eating and tossed the skewers into the fire. She would've done the same too, if she wasn't in the position she was in now.

  19. After clearing things up for herself, she would wait happily, contently even for Parvati to finish with high expectations. It was only sleeping, only closeness, but this type of thing was very special for Korra, the amount of trust required for something like that was weighty after all. Feeling trusted like that, trying to prove herself was important. "That's right." She said with a soft smile pleased she could help even if it wasn't all that useful.

While Parvati continued, Korra would simply pull her lute back out with a sweet hum once more. Though she hummed, she didn't sing as she struck a few melodious cords idly. It was the groundwork for a song she spent her life trying to perfect or write, and though it's melody was complex, Korra hadn't even touched on what words she should use for it. While she played the song though, Kirin's response obvious as the creature grew more alert and interested when Korra played this particular song. She'd lazily lean against Parvati feeling at peace with the world in that sort of position. "This should be how life is right?" She added with a sweet murmur finding everything about these few moments to be very delightful.

  20. @Korra Quinn

Parvati finished eating her skewer and tossed the stick into the fire. "Mm?" She didn't get why Korra said, "That's right," but whatever she meant by that, it didn't really have to do with the Amazoness, right? She didn't know, but she was completely fine around the girl. It was nice getting to know people that weren't men, that was for sure.

Parvati moved the bowl to Korra before stopping about midway. She cocked her head at the song before she began to relax. What a melody this was! Though it had no words, it drew her full attention as she waited and listened for her to continue. "Mm, if life were content every day, it would be a joy," she said in response to her rhetorical question.
