Odin's Expedition

  1. Marzipan had quickly come to the front where the queen was. She didn't know what to do but hold the ants back. She gritted her teeth as she looked at the queen ant that was writhing on the ground. They would be here any second and she was not going to die here. Nope, not yet, not when they were so close to victory.

"Hey," she said as the prince asked for someone to go into the ant and destroy its soul stone, "I'm small. I can probably go in there and-" Too late, someone else had went inside the queen ant's stomach and was making their way to the soul stone. Some time later, the monster disappeared, leaving a collapsed girl on the ground. She rushed over to look at her. "Hey, get up!" she said, looking over at her wounds.

The pain, the adrenaline, the anxiety that coursed through the ant queen’s primitive mind all culminated into the fevered thrumming of its eight-chambered heart. Within the hot flesh of this wounded creature, only this all encompassing sound that she wouldn’t merely hear, but feel through her skin would register to her sense of hearing. As she sloshed her way through the creatures tissues, she would feel muscles spasm, an almost crushing pressure and heat that was almost unbearable.

Formidable as the creature’s chitinous shell might be, it’s tissues were no less durable than that of any other mammal of flesh and blood. The adventurer’s blade would carve through tissue, causing a fountain of lifeblood to trickle forth before the tiny incision would bloat and burst into a shower. A bloody trail, that was what Kosaka would leave in her wake and once her knife found purchase in the creature’s heart, it would lurch violently, the force was such that it would force the catfolk out - and just in time too.

Any moment later and she would have been crushed within as the creature trashed and turned, anything close to it would’ve been grievously injured or outright killed, but the men under the prince’s direction would hasten to Kosaka’s side to pull her away from the front line. A blast of cold water sprouting from a mage’s hands would wash the girl free from any fluids that might still be clinging unto her and healers would tend to the girl’s battered body. Heatstroke, was a rare cause for death in Orario given it’s temperate climate, but it was a serious consideration for the dagger-wielding girl now.

She’d had her moment of glory.

But it seemed that the prince, though he would pay the girl token concern - false or genuine was beyond anyone to determine - would not linger by Kosaka’s side for longer than he had to. Instead, the heir of the royal line would move away stand at the forefront of this new territory which was laid open to them. With a distant look in his eyes and a hand on the hilt of his weapon, he would regard at the grassy plain like some conqueror out of a storybook. What thoughts were in his mind were a mystery, but it looked like he had designs of this new frontier.
