Korra heaved a sigh looking down at the damage she'd caused in thought. There were a pair of goblins with holes through their bodies. One in it's neck and the other in it's shoulder while the other was speared through the chest. The things that killed them were Bolts, from a Crossbow, Korra's new weapon, though the design was somewhat peculiar. Rather then a wooden stock you might expect, Korra's was made from metal lattice framework instead giving it a more compact and slimmer appearance without the heavy weight of wood. The arch was a strong layered band of metal while the sides were lined with simple parts not any more complicated then a water wheel. It was a design she was unfamiliar with, but one she was recommended from a nice uncle she met at the store she frequented for her tools. Pulling back the bowstring, rapid ticking could be heard it was drawn back, and the arrow was easily settled back in it's slot and didn't easily move around with the shaking of her hands or arms. She gave it a few good waves again to try and loose the arrow 'accidentally' but the machinery was not easily disturbed. It was clearly a reliable tool, but she couldn't make heads or tails of the mechanization that made it easy to draw back with her strength or made the arrow so steady when slotted. Even the weight of the crossbow was bizarre to her, it was light, even though she still required to hands to keep it steady it wasn't cumbersome for her who was prepared for a heavy duty weapon. "This is really neat... I wonder how that old man made it work." She voiced her confusion knowing that taking it apart wasn't something she would ever do. God forbid she didn't know how to put it back together and broke it. Pulling the bolts out, she slid them back into her small armored quiver at her thighs that protected her bolts. Truly all she had to do was comment on needing a weapon and that man bent over backwards to try and provide her with the best. It made her exhale a dry laugh knowing that he was probably elated with the chance to sell her equipment that he ended up going too far again. She was one of the few who had no need for weapons before now after all. "I think they'd do better coated with something though... I wonder." She murmured wondering what she could smear the arrow heads with. @Parvati Roshan
@Korra Quinn Parvati had entered the Dungeon like she always had, grunting as she made her way down the stairs. She was prepared for another long day of collecting soul stones to make ends meet. She grimaced as she thought about how she was struggling to keep up with some adventurers. It wasn't her fault that she would rather practice her magic than go dungeon delving, but her pride had been hit when a disgusting man came up to her drunkenly and said that she couldn't face him in the Dungeon. He passed out on top of her before she could even answer and she left the vicinity in shame, the friend of the man's laughter ringing in her ears. She stopped at the bottom of the stairway and sighed. Well, at least she could practice her magic on the monsters here. That was a thing. She began heading deeper into the caverns, intent on finding at least some kind of monster. One came out of the wall as she walked, a goblin. She didn't want to deal with it at the moment, but it spotted her and immediately made its way towards her. She growled in annoyance began chanting. “Flames that flicker in the darkness, surround your enemy and dance to the beat of their heart!” she chanted before aiming her spell at the goblin, "Flame Dance!" The goblin found itself surrounded by flames that it couldn't escape from no matter where it went. Once the flames had burned the creature, she immediately charged forth with her scimitar and slashed at the goblin's throat. Several slashes later, it disappeared and left a soul stone. She immediately pocketed it and continued on her way. While on the way, she managed to see a figure that looked vaguely familiar. A closer look revealed it to be Korra, the bard. Her eyes lit up in recognition and she immediately went towards her. "So we meet again, story singer," she said as she came up from behind her, "Out hunting today?" She smiled at the girl, wondering what she was doing down here.
Parvati's voice made Korra's head turn up as happily as always. It was the dungeon but that didn't stop her from showing a bright and affectionate smile. "Oh? Fancy seeing you here huh? Did you come down for some adventuring?" She asked with a warm musing grin as she tried to approach the tanned amazon as happy as she was during their first encounter. Though she held onto her new weapon behind her back, her new lute was even set on her back different from the one Parvati had seen her play, the quality of this one was clearly much higher, the strings were stronger. Unlike her other tool that was an heirloom this one was meant for combat and fighting. "Not hunting though, I'm a supporter remember? Just testing a new tool." She explained gesturing to her crossbow as she looked down it once more as if still trying to get accustomed to it. It was difficult for the bard who didn't really want to fight or dirty her hands with combat. Recently though she'd been finding it harder and harder to cope with supporting and doing nothing but relaxing and urging Kirin to fight. Having a crossbow would at least allow her to support from afar as a combatant too but it still was a very uncomfortable experience for her. "I don't like this sort of bloody affair though. I much rather relax on Kirin and collect the stones like usual but it's getting harder to be such a passive supporter these days. I won't be much help on the lower floors doing that." She said with a soft sigh as if it really bothered her. Korra certainly didn't like to act, the role of the princess was the one she desired the most, she didn't want to let that go. For the sake of protecting people closest to her though she was forced to take up a weapon of her own. Unfortunately even thinking about it was deflating though, her motivation drained out quickly when she thought of having to do it herself again. "If I was just a little stronger I could reach out to others-- like Hydra or Jabberwock, then I wouldn't have to force myself so much." She said with a heavy sigh knowing that Kirin was ultimately a creature of peace. Fighting simply wasn't something it was ever truly built for, because of Korra though it found itself fighting more and more rather then carrying the weight as she'd once intended. "Someday they'll hear my song too, but that's a long ways away." She said with a sad chuckle to Parvati looking down at her Crossbow with a burdened sigh once more. Kirin was naturally with her, looking down at her with a measure of concern. This adjustment would take the mellow girl some time to adjust to, but she would adjust if she had to, of that there was little doubt.
@Korra Quinn "I did," Parvati answered a smile playing on her lips, "Come here for money, magic stones." The smile on her face died away as she remembered why she came here. She wanted to get stronger, but how was she going to do that? ...Well, practice did make perfect, after all. But she had to be careful with her magic, otherwise she would experience the mind down some adventurers experienced. And it wasn't really in her nature to be as careful as possible. "Mm, so you like to sing instead of fight? I can understand, I prefer magic to anything else." She went over to clap a hand on Korra's shoulder. "Do not worry, you would ease into it, as they say," she said encouragingly. She blinked when the supporter mentioned calling out to other creatures. "Perhaps they will hear your song, story singer. I do think it will be enough to reach them." She let out a hum as she pondered on something, taking her hand off of Korra's shoulders. "...Story singer, perhaps we can go together? Two is better than one and we can both practice, yes?" She looked at Korra expectantly. After the couple of meetings she met her, she knew that Korra wouldn't say no to that.
Korra chuckled just a little at the girl's comment about coming for money and magic stones. "Are you strapped for cash? What do you need gold for?" She asked confused since Korra herself didn't need money to survive. Just hunting and foraging was enough, and all of her tools were cheap and easily acquired. "If you're struggling to earn your way, you really should just stay with me more often. It's cheaper and easier then all of that housing and fancy nonsense. After all 'home' is where the heart is mm?" She offered happily. Talking of fighting made her sour once more though, she couldn't help a burdened sigh again at the thought of having to be a part of the fray once more. "Singing is just secondary, I do like music, I have a talent for it even. What I want was always a lot simpler though." She said looking back down at her weapon giving it another gentle shake as if she wasn't sure she could trust it yet. There was just too much about tools she didn't truly understand yet, too much she didn't think she could trust. It was a worry that would stay with her for a while. In the end, she flashed a smaller smile at the thought of the other creatures hearing her song though. "Someday, when I'm stronger I'm sure they will too. My magic isn't powerful enough to reach them yet though. Kirins are peaceful by nature, it wasn't hard to reach him, but Hydra is very aggressive and combative... Jabberwock even more so, a creature of fear; the stuff of nightmare. I won't be able to reach them for a long while." She admitted knowing she had a long way to go before that happened. Maybe when she was level 3 she could reach out to Hydra, but Jabberwock, she couldn't even begin to understand how much power she'd need to calm a malevolent creature. Parvati was right though, there was no way that she would turn down something like that. Being together was naturally more lovely as long as the situation wasn't deadly. Hoisting the crossbow over a shoulder, she tried to reach out to wrap her arm around the girl's neck happily nodding along. "Of course! I'd love to join you. If you liked it we could even make an official party." She tried to tease with a playful wink as Kirin huffed at Korra's antics.
@Korra Quinn Parvati blinked in surprise at the offer before shaking her head. "I am too attached to comfy living to considering staying out with you," she said, "If I like staying out, I would say yes. But I do not, so I say no." She didn't know what the phrase "Home is where the heart is," was, but she assumed it would have something to do with places and things. Oh well, she'll figure it out someday. "How powerful is your magic now?" she asked, feeling a twinge of jealousy. She was in the presence of an expert, she realized. One that was able to summon rare creatures with just her song. It was only now she realized that she was possibly more powerful than she had thought, with her magic capable of bringing the world down to its knees, possibly. She didn't know, though, and she berated herself for making the assumption. Korra was a nice person, she really was. The Amazoness shouldn't be thinking those kinds of thoughts. She smiled at the supporter and nodded. "Yes yes, let us form this party," she said, "We should head onwards while day is up, yes?" She didn't shake the girl off when the supporter's arm was wrapped around her neck. She didn't think it was a threatening gesture and she shrugged it off as just the girl being friendly. At least it wasn't inappropriate.
Korra couldn't help a mellow chuckle at the woman's words about being attached to comfortable living. "Oh? Is that so? You don't have a place with your familia then? I have a room at my familia's house." She explained remembering the room Bri offered her in his weird tower. It was meant for his familia members, but Korra found such a setting somewhat suffocating without it having women around every corner. Instead outside was better until she found people who she'd need the room for. "Want to borrow mine?" She asked tilting her head in question. When asked about how powerful her magic was, Korra's expression grew coy an playfully smug in answer. "My Magic should be somewhere around S rank by now maybe?" She answered as if unsure herself. Korra always had strong magical prowess after all, it was from that magical potential that her ability to call magical beasts derived, but also where they gained strength to mature and grow. It had to be strong to be able to support even something docile like a Kirin because of it's draconian ancestry otherwise Kirin would still be the size of a small pony. "I guess I didn't really explain who I was too well those few times before. Among all those who registered with the guild this generation, I'm the strongest at the moment." She admitted with a sweet laugh as if it were amusing rather then something to take pride in. After all, Korra found a great deal of amusement in her prowess compared to the adventurers she was meant to be supporting. "That's probably only because my Magical power gets stronger the closer I am to others though." She explained knowing that the more she pursued women the more quickly her magical power surged and it's potential rose. "That's right though, we should get a move on." She tried to pat Parvati's butt to get her going in the front with a happy smile. "The adventurer should be the one in front right?" She tried to tease happily even as she brought her crossbow back down from her shoulder and gripped the handhold tightly. She grimaced faintly at it once more, but bared with it as she tried to advance with Parvati on foot while Kirin followed up with Korra at her side. If she simply stuck to her usual method and mean, she'd not get enough practice with her new tool which would defeat the purpose.
@Korra Quinn Parvati shook her head. "I do not. I cannot stay with them. They are too..." She struggled to find the right word to describe them. "...Manly, I think? I do not like men at all." She let out an angry huff as she remembered how rowdy Zeus' familia was. She didn't mind the atmosphere, it was the lewd men that was a problem. "I will be fine my own. You do not need to give me a room, story singer." The twinge of jealousy was stronger this time. She tried to shove it down because Korra was not her sister, she was an acquaintance with strong magic. Very strong magic by the sound of it. "I see..." The Amazoness said as she struggled with her feelings for a moment. Normally whenever she felt jealous of her sister's, she would do anything she could to bring them down. They did it to her too, so it didn't really effect her much. But Korra? She was not her sister and she didn't think she would be like her sisters at all. She jumped a little when her butt was patted and shot her a glare. It was only for a brief moment, but it happened and she tried to pretend nothing happened as she nodded and went ahead. She kept her scimitar down as they traversed the Dungeon, not yet feeling threatened by a monster. She heard a strange noise up ahead and raised her scimitar as she moved forward. It clattered on the floor when she saw a goblin coming out from the wall like a baby would come out of its mother's womb, except this baby was screeching and grunting. "W-W-What...?" The goblin fell onto the ground and made her way towards her, still stunned by what she just saw.
Korra shook her head firmly not wanting the woman to be lonely or put off. "Oh non-sense, how can I not worry? We're not strangers to that extent that we can't help each other right? Plus, if you stayed there too, it wouldn't be so unbearable for me. It's nice and quiet even." She offered again, affectionately persistant but not as forceful as her word choice might make it seem. She simply tried being as persuasive as she could. The twinge of jealousy wasn't something lost on Korra though, flashing a weary smile, Korra tried to hug Parvati a bit closer until their sides were touching. "My magic is so strong partly because of you even... you know? You're as much a part of my strength as anyone else is-- maybe more so. A lot of people don't let me as close as you do..." She explained, attributing a portion of her success to Parvati hoping that makes her feel better. Though she continued with a small mellow smile, seeing Parvati's glare, knowing it all too well, rather then dissuading her though, she tried giving Parvati's rump another gentle pat instead, though it would upset someone normally, specially after being put off by it the first time, Korra tried to follow up with a cute smile and flushed cheeks. "I need you, you know?" She explained happily. The goblin coming from the wall of the dungeon didn't surprise her though, she'd seen it so many times before, the dungeon really didn't have many tricks when it came to these ambushes. Though she was glad that it was only goblins on these earlier floors, she lifted her crossbow with a furrowed brow knowing it wouldn't be good for her to use. Trying to aim with both hands, whens he loosed the bolt with a 'THWACK' it landed in the creature's shoulder causing it to cry louder and flail. The penetrating power was strong, pinning it down to the ground it had been laying on, but she missed her target clearly making her frown as she looked down at her weapon. "Tch... this thing is so complicated." She complained with bothered mumbles pulling the string back with the latch. As it slid back into place, a rapid ticking sounded from the winding of the string. She was very clearly not adept enough to use it in live combat yet which was why goblins happened to be her target.
@Korra Quinn Parvati snapped out of her shock when the bolt whizzed past her and hit the goblin dead on. She quickly picked up her scimitar and charged into battle. She slashed at the creature several times, moving backwards to dodge its attacks. A gash to the face, an arm ripped up, she delivered more slashes before moving back. She glanced back at Korra briefly for a moment before turning her attention to the goblin that hit her in the leg. She kicked it back and proceeded to knock it over, getting on top of it to slice its throat. It flailed for a few moments before she dealt the blow and moved aside. The creature writhed for a couple of moments before disappearing and leaving behind its soul stone. She picked it up and looked at Korra. "Still learning?" she asked, "I did not know you had a weapon, you do not seem like the type to have one. But perhaps I am blind and you had always had one." She shrugged. "I have no knowing." She glanced at the walls warily as she went back to her, unsure if the walls would spawn even more monsters. By this time, she had forgotten Korra's transgression that concerned touching her butt, instead more focused on what the Dungeon had to offer.
Korra only shook her head with a sigh while Parvati hacked her way into the monster, her good intentions falling on deaf ears? It was disheartening but not a sadness she hadn't dealt with in the past. Getting through to people was difficult after all, particularly when they has a reason for feeling sour, though Korra didn't know how to go about mending that wound, it would take too much work to do overnight despite wanting to with a great deal of her heart. Shaking her head though, Parvati wasn't blind at all, this was a fresh weapon, one she was ultimately unfamiliar with. "I don't know it well, I don't like weapons, I don't like fighting or killing-- I can't just keep sitting back and relaxing though." She said with a grimace thinking back to how she'd already explained why but she continued even though it made her demeanor sour further. "I had more fun being the princess who other people fought to protect, but if I keep doing that, the bottom levels will just get harder for everyone else." She said with a heavy sigh, her experience and knowledge prevented her from being joyously ignorant. "What about you? Is your magic improving at all? I haven't really seen you use it-- I don't think you've seen mine either?" She asked with a cock of her head wondering what kind of magic Parvati used anyway. She wasn't particularly sure why Parvati was so easily stimulated and roused by magic, but it might help her understand if she saw it.
@Korra Quinn To be honest, she didn't know what to say about her being a supporter, but she could talk about wielding a weapon. "Ah. It takes time to practice with a weapon, just as the same with magic, I think," Parvati said with a thoughtful hum, "Some take many years to master, some much quicker. But it comes with time, you will learn." She paused as Korra asked her about her magic, feeling that twinge of jealousy again. But then again, she hadn't shown just what she was capable of yet. "No, I have seen yours. With Kirin, yes?" she said while staring at Korra's profile, "My magic...mostly attacks and burns. Perhaps I could show you on the next monster we see?" In all honesty, she wanted to show off what she had, just to prove that she can use it effectively. It was a nice thought, in her mind. She glanced down at the long cavern, squinting as she tried to see if there was anything out there. There was nothing so far. "We should go. And I will show you my magic, yes?" she said as she started to go down the hall. Her facial expression was determined as she tried to find a monster and use her magic on it.
Korra only wore a sad smile when Parvati talked about it needing practice, a heavy sigh came from her lips as she nodded back. "I know-- the problem is I don't enjoy it though; I don't like this kind of thing." She admitted, she was learning begrudgingly rather then willingly. "I wish there were something else." She couldn't help one more heavy sigh as if this were a burden she were having trouble shaking off. For the free spirited girl 'things she didn't want to do' were very burdensome. Though seeing Parvati talking about her magic, Korra chuckled shaking her head. "Kirin is just one of my spells, the spell for calling-- I have one other a spell for healing if you wanted to see." Korra offered with a mellow smile not sure if it would make Parvati deflate again, but Korra's identity was that of a caster more then a warrior after all. Hearing about Parvati's magic being burns and attacks though, she hummed trying to once more sling her arm around Parvati, this time trying to rest it at the girl's hip then around her neck. "Burns and attacks? What kind I wonder~" She tried to tease gently as she walked with Parvati. Seeing how impatient she was though, Korra tried to give the girl's hip a gentle squeeze of reassurance. "I bet your magic is spectacular. I can't wait." She said with a happy and genuine smile, walking with Parvati to try and find the first goblin they could for her to test it on. "We'll probably make a great team right?" She offered with a happy smile trying not to sour with all the damper things happening.
@Korra Quinn Parvati didn't know what to say about her not enjoying fighting. She was much like Artemis in that regard, her simple minded sister not wanting to fight whenever they had to spar as per her mother's orders. Fighting was something she grew up with, so she didn't know how the supporter was feeling. But she firmly believed she would get the hang of it after a while. "Hm, healing?" she asked, "Save it for when very injured, I am still fine as of now." She couldn't help but think about healing magic. Maybe she should try her hand at doing it, though she didn't have anyone but herself to practice it on. Not only would it be useful, it could possibly be something she grew to enjoy. She jolted back to reality when she felt something wrap around her hip. She immediately ran out of Korra's grasp, walking faster so as to not feel that sensation then. "Yes yes, we will," she said to answer her question about teamwork, "As long as touches are not bad, then it should be fine. So please, no touching my ass, yes?" She glanced down the hall to see three goblins standing around for no reason whatsoever. This was it, her chance to flaunt her magic. She cleared her throat and began to chant, throwing out both her arms in concentration. “Flames that flicker in the darkness, surround your enemy and dance to the beat of their heart!” she chanted, her eyes narrowing on one of the goblins, "Flame Dance!" They immediately began chattering when flames surrounded one of the goblins and closed in on it. The other goblins finally noticed the two of them and advanced on them, leaving their comrade to be burned. Parvati readied her scimitar as they approached.
Korra nodded back, her healing was just yet another reason why she leaned more towards support rather then mixing things up with other fighters. Combat surely wasn't her thing even down to her magical talents. Though she followed along happily with Parvati wondering about the girl's magic until she suddenly darted forward. At a little loss for words, Korra was briefly stunned before looking down at her hand then back to the girl's hips. It was different right? The butt patting was one thing but walking arm in arm wasn't right? Devastated was the word used to describe Korra's adorable expression of despair at the thought of hip touches being bad, that happened to be one of Korra's favorite places to hug, though not her most favorite fortunately. After a brief moment of recovery she sighed heavily shaking her head as she tapped her crossbow against her shoulder. "Yes yes... We'll have to talk in detail about these bad touches though you know?" She asked with a cute pout. Though when she cast her magic, Korra let out a sweet 'aw' and clapped her hands together a few times happily observing it from beginning to end. It looked interesting, it was particularly colorful and full of flare too which was something Korra often adored about magic. It was one of the things that made it so beautiful and mystical. Though once Parvati readied her scimitar, Korra cocked her head with a measure of curiosity. "Mm.. Can you control how fast it swallows something up? It surrounds things and closes in from around them right? Wouldn't it be more interesting as a support spell?" She asked with a raised brow, it wasn't advice, no, just trying to expand parvati's horizons and maybe help her think of things form strange view points. With Parvati getting ready though, Korra couldn't help grimace once more knowing she had to get used to fighting herself as well. A heavy sigh came from her lips again as she pulled the stock back up to her shoulder pointing the crossbow to one of the two advancing goblins. She fired sharply to try and aim for it's mid section again but once more her shot drifted awkwardly through the creature's leg once more pinning it down to the dungeon floor making her sigh. She was far from the one shot one kill category.
@Korra Quinn Parvati had ignored Korra when she talked about discussing inappropriate touching. She did not, however, ignore her when Korra began to question her about her magic. "I do not know," she admitted as she charged forward and slashed one of the goblins, "Perhaps I can, but I do not know." Her efforts were more focused on the enemies before her rather than answering. She didn't have to worry much about the goblin with its leg shot, so she could put her efforts in the remaining goblin and its friend that had been swallowed by the circle of flames and was now approaching her quickly. She made a gash on the goblin's head and arm while it clawed her own arm. It wasn't really much, just a scratch really. But it only served to anger her as she dealt it one more blow before slicing at its throat. It writhed in pain as she focused her attention and both the burned goblin and the goblin whose leg was shot. The latter hobbled towards her slowly while the former charged forward with a shriek. The Amazoness wore a frown as she met the burnt goblin's attack with an attack of her own, landing a slash on its head and sliced its ear off. It growled as it tried to attack her, but she backed off a little before it could do so. It charged towards her and she jabbed it in the gut, pulling it down to open it up and little before it was pulled out. Another shriek and she managed to hit it on one of its, causing it to hold its head in pain. She kicked it aside as it disappeared and focused on the final goblin. Already the adrenaline was coursing through her veins as she charged forward and began to attack the thing. It was mirrored her movement blow for blow, trying to protect itself as she savagely attacked. It slipped up when she went in for a feint before slashing at its throat and tearing downward, making it cough up blood. She backed off and glanced at Korra to see her frustrated with using the weapon. It was a little cute, in her opinion.
Another devastating blow, a crippling blow, were she not already a strong and confident woman Korra would be vomiting blood right now. She would persevere though, sucking that into her heart once more as she heard Parvati's answer making her hum. "It seems like it would be really amazing to protect someone or split monsters up. Like building walls of fire right?" She said sounding excited about that prospect because it seemed like something amazing to use fire for those things. Seeing Parvati fighting though, Korra pulled back her crossbow string once more, the sharp clicking of her bow being wound back up was a refreshing sound for the bard woman. She liked the sound of reloading but using it was unsatisfying for her even now. When she glanced back at Korra it wouldn't be much different, Korra sighed heavily thinking about her ability to perform with the tool. It was perhaps not completely sub-par but she couldn't say it was good either. She'd need something more before it would be useful, she was far from a sharpshooter in any regard. Though when the fight finished, she sighed hoisting it back onto her shoulder with a small pout. This adventure was arduous! She thought in her head glancing back to her bow, the only saving grace was having Parvati close by but th egirl was preoccupied with her own skills as well. "I haven't seen a mage using a sword though-- that's unique. Do you have sword techniques too?" She asked tilting her head in question wondering if the girl had other things up her sleeve. It was interesting to see Parvati's skills but the use of the blade was unorthodox in Korra's eyes. A Mage wouldn't use something like a blade to fight after all, or that was the typical methodology for adventurers. It was always some kind of magical foci or ranged tool sort of like Korra's own weapon. It was unique seeing something so offensive and face to face. "What other things do you know how to use? Were you trained for anything else?" She asked cocking her head thinking this might be a reason Parvati's skills aren't developing as well. While Korra hadn't experienced it herself, she'd seen others fight with weapons outside of what might have been their normal style but she'd never experienced the awkward nature of it herself yet. With a perked brow she couldn't help wondering if Parvati might be forcing herself to do the same because of her past. "Have you ever thought of using a Focus or something else?" She asked glancing the girl up and down once more trying to decide where was good and where was bad.
@Korra Quinn "Ah, I do know sword techniques," Parvati said, smiling a little, "Mother and sisters taught me. I also know how to use spears, bows. And...what else? Perhaps a knife too? Ah, and something like a club. Mother encouraged us to master several things." She sighed. "It is not uncommon. In Telskyura, it is common to train very little ones to fight. I believe the thing saying that little ones are put in front of a baby monster to find killing or be killed is somewhat accurate. At least, Mother taught me from an young age to fight." A frown began to form on her face. "She thought magic was strange, men's work, I believe. Kept saying that magic is a waste of time. I found it not. Magic, I can express myself. I can fight differently than my sisters and I am proud of that. I want to be different from them, not relying on my weapon. But I'm still too used to it." She sighed. "Perhaps I need more practice on my magic, perhaps I should do it down here where the monsters are strong. That might help." The Amazoness couldn't help but cock her head to the side. "A Focus?" she asked, "What is that?" She was genuinely curious about what a Focus was. After all, if it helped with her magic, she wouldn't hesitate to use it. She looked at Korra expectantly, somewhat excited for whatever the girl was going to say to her.
Korra couldn't help being a little surprised, Parvati seemed to have a background similar to Kessler even though they were from different worlds. Being trained so harshly and vigorously made her feel like a slacker, but even as a slacker she wasn't exactly looking down on herself with her magical prowess being so strong. "That's very... Erm... versatile?" She asked knowing this wasn't exactly the part she was hoping to hear, the girl didn't really mention anything that could be used as a competent focus or magical tool, they were all warrior weapons or hunter's weapons. Not a single Mage orientated tool. Hearing that magic originated from males though, Korra couldn't help a sweet chuckle, batting her eyelashes she leaned forward with her arms behind her back feeling proud. "Such a silly theory, Magic originated with women you know? Shrine Maidens, Bards, Alchemists and Scholars-- It was a great equalizer for women once upon a time that allowed them to compete with human men who had larger builds and more physical prowess. Over time though the lines blurred and everyone began using everything though right?" She offered with a happy grin wanting Parvati to feel proud. Hearing her ask about the focus though, Korra leaned back, sliding her Crossbow down to her waste, she folded the stock into the arch to put it away before pulling her fancier lute from her back. Unlike her happy and playful family heirloom this one was a more serious and high quality tool, one that was used for fighting or supporting. "My Lute is a Focus, a 'magical weapon' you know? It helps with casting and makes spells stronger and more potent. It's because I summon Kirin with one that he sticks around for so long instead of just calling him with my magical power alone. It makes magic easier to use more often." She said offering it to Parvati for a second, though the girl probably wouldn't know how to use it, letting her hold onto it wouldn't hurt. "There are a lot more different types though, like books, staves, rods, wands, lanterns, skulls, and dozens of other tools." She admitted with a confident nod, Parvati would have to find one that suited her best though.
@Korra Quinn Parvati shrugged when Korra commented how versatile her fighting ability was. What did get her attention, though, was the fact that women were more often than not magic users. "...Mother never said that women has always used magic," she said in a deadpan voice, "Nor do I learn it in school. Even tutors know nothing about it." It just boggled her mind that women were the ones that started magic. Maybe she needed to recheck her history lessons. Parvati listened intently as the supporter began to explain what a Focus was. "A magical weapon..." She looked down at her scimitar with a frown when she began listing the types of Focuses that were the most common. "Would sword count? Perhaps not, I have no knowing if swords can be used as Focus." Once she left the Dungeon, she was going to find a Focus that would help her with her spells.
