Korra couldn't help a soft chuckle at the girl's words, she seemed sequestered away from the outside world stuck in her country with their beliefs and outlooks. "Hehe... To an Amazoness that might seem right, your people don't usually dabble in magic so you probably encountered more men who would use magic against you right? Among humans-- Elves specially, women were usually the magic users and used it to compete with men. Other races aren't exactly as strong as Amazons you know?" She explained thinking that Parvati might be confused or think she was lying. Parvati asking about swords though made Korra hum, it wasn't usual, but it wasn't as if there weren't precedents for it either. The problem was finding one-- they weren't common items that could be bought in the shops but were typically legendary tools wielded by kings or demon lords in stories. "There are some ceremonial swords or blades that are I think-- Those types aren't really easy to come by though. Commoners like myself would never lay eyes on one throughout our life usually." She explained with her arms up as if there were nothing she could do about it. It was the same as possessing Excalibur or Brionac, the chances of finding such a blessed or damned weapon were slim. Few adventurers would even be allowed to keep it after finding it making the chances worse even. "I'd recommend something you could hold in a hand, like a skull or a necklace something you can use with your sword?" Korra explained, for her it was different, Korra didn't need to switch between weapons in the fray, as long as she had the lute for healing in big battles and the crossbow against waves she would be fine. Parvati however would probably need a focus in one hand and sword in the other.
@Korra Quinn "Ah, so that is why many elves have magic," Parvati said, putting away her scimitar and crossing her arms at the thought, "They are stubborn in their ways, cannot make trade with many well." She shook her head. "But I understand now, our ways are not like the world's ways. And I myself am different than what the world made me." She looked down at her sheathed scimitar with a frown before looking back at the supporter. The frown deepened when Korra said that ceremonial swords would probably do the trick. "Mm, magic swords. Cannot get it now," she grunted, "I will stick with this sword." She cocked her head to the side at the mention of a small charm working, however. "Necklace? Hm...suppose I could do that. But what kind?" she mused, closing her eyes in thought. She opened them again and shrugged. "I will think of what to Focus on, story singer. But now, Dungeon, yes?"
Korra clapped her hands together proudly nodding back glad that Parvati seemed to understand. "That's right! Yes~ Just like it takes some time getting used to our culture, your culture is something we're not very sure of too." She admitted with a happy nod. Though seeing the girl sheath her weapon, Korra could understand her misgivings. A magic sword was hard to come by, had she been a fighter it would be her holy grail as well, but making it to that point was difficult. Talking about the necklace though, Korra nodded knowing there were some people who used that type of focus. "It's a charm people would wear around their wrist or fingers. Sometimes it would wrap around the whole hand a few times in a fancy tie. I've seen it a few times at least, but I've never used one." She admitted knowing that those charms weren't her style. Talk about the dungeon though made her nod back in acceptance. Trying to slide her Lute onto her back once more and unfold her crossbow again, she reached out towards Parvati only to hesitate. With a sad smile she looked down at the girl with uncertainty. "Is around the waist not okay still?" She asked not wanting to do so without asking again since Parvati hinted it might be a bad kind of touch for her.
@Korra Quinn "Yes, very true. Not many not Telskyurians come in, but we can leave any time. It is no wonder that I have no knowing of your culture, just as you have no knowing of mine," Parvati said with a curt nod. If the country ever did open up to its neighbors and share some things with them, she would be shocked. The very idea was inconceivable to her. "Hm...might need to be used to it," she mused as the bard talked about what kind of charms could work as a Focus, "Perhaps I can find something in the store. But I do not know, perhaps I won't." She shrugged. "Will not know until it happens, as they say." She saw Korra's sad smile and went over to her, putting a hand to the supporter's cheek. This Telskyurian gesture was the equivalent to a hand on the shoulder, but she didn't know about that gesture quite yet. "Do not worry, story singer. Everything will be alright. We have each other now, yes?" She paused at the mention of her waste. "Do not touch me down there. Upper body is fine, other than chest."
Korra nodded back glad that Parvati understood, but the thought of her not having met Parvati if she hadn't left was a little sad. It was just another reason to appreciate small coincidences. "We could go look for one together if you want I know a good place, It's where I go to tune up my lute even." She offered with a happy and wide grin knowing she knew magical focuses much better then she did weapons. Though hearing her talk about everything being alright, she couldn't help a gentler smile. With a nod, she turned her head into the hand happily resting her head into it briefly as she answered. "Yeah, that is true. Stronger for it even." She explained happily suggesting that they were stronger for having each other. Whether or not Parvati thought it was true, Korra knew she was getting stronger from these kinds of close contacts and relationships even if they didn't follow through as she'd wanted sometimes. Being told about where she could touch though, Korra frowned briefly until she finally got an idea. With a sly smile she tried to wrap an arm around Parvati once more around her mid section happily trying to rest her palm against the girl's bare lower belly. Feeling clever, she nodded back pointing ahead with her crossbow using one arm to wave it as she gestured towards the tunnel happily. "Alright then! Let's continue on now that we have that worked out!"
@Korra Quinn "Ah, do you? Show me the place some time later?" Parvati asked, intrigued by this place Korra was talking about. If it specialized in Focuses, she would want to go there as soon as possible. But first, the Dungeon. The Dungeon waited for no one, after all, and she needed to practice her magic. "Hm, stronger together, we are. Is that not why adventurers come down here with other people? They look out for each other, yes? I will be sure to look out for you too, story singer." She gave a curt nod in response. She meant every word of it, especially since they were in a place that would warrant such connections. Her hand fell off the bard's face and she nearly jumped in surprise when she wrapped her arms around her midsection. ...I did say she couldn't touch my butt and breasts. This should be fine, she thought to herself as she sighed. "Yes yes, let us go, story singer. We wait for no one, after all." She tried to wriggle out of the bard's grasp so that they could move forward.
Korra nodded back thinking back to that nice old man who tuned her Lutes from time to time. He wasn't exactly a member of her family but was someone she trusted enough to tune her equipment since the process was tedious for her. "Of course~ It's a little dusty, but he does good work. The owner's an old wizard but his wife used to be a druid, so if it has wood in it you'll get a nice treat since the materials are so sturdy, you could probably use one of her staffs to beat something to death without it breaking." She tried to tease, she wasn't sure if they were truly that strong, but her Lute was strong enough to clash with some low level monsters because of it. Her talk about adventurers teaming up made her grin a little knowing that she wasn't quite right. Korra tried to gently pinch Parvati's side in response as she explained in a gentle tone. "I get stronger with company after all, though I think there's not any more room to fit that power any more without be getting a sturdier body." She teased with a happy and content smile. Though when Parvati jumped, she let out a melodious laugh glad that the girl didn't fight it. Moving forward though, she considered gripping a secondary arrow to speed up the firing, but it seemed somewhat wasteful. Instead she pulled the arrows from those downed monsters she'd shot before and slid them back into her scaled quivers before setting off with Parvati once more. Kirin keeping up with them in a slow trot playing a more supportive role.
@Korra Quinn "Hm, I see. So magic is put into Focuses? ...No, wrong. Sorry, I do not quite understand the process," Parvati said as she tried to understand how Focuses worked, "But weapon is good and strong, yes? Or they might have to give to a not fighter." She shrugged. "I do not know. Maybe later, perhaps?" She sighed as she looked on ahead in the cavernous halls of the Dungeon. She wouldn't be surprised if things became a little bit easier from here on out, due to how strong Korra was. She frowned slightly as a twinge of jealousy went through her again. Of course, Parvati wanted to get stronger too, but she wasn't sure how to go about it, other than practice. Maybe these Focuses Korra spoke of would help increase her magic mightily. She didn't have any doubt in the woman so far. They trekked down the Dungeon's caverns and the Amazoness was getting impatient to find a monster that she could take on. Where were they, anyway? The thought of other adventurers coming down here to do the same thing as she was doing crossed her mind briefly before pushing it aside. She'll deal with it when it happens. Finally, after what seemed like forever, there were two goblins before her. Immediately she held her hand out in a stopping posture before beginning to chant, "Thunder, I call you to come and shower your opponent with your light! Thunder Strike!" One of the goblins found itself being surrounded by lightning, who managed to hit it's companion, before lightning struck it. It spasmed and shrieked as it was hit, which made her smile. This was what she lived for and she relished every second of it.
Korra cocked her head a little in answer to her words not quite sure what she was talking about, but Korra knew a little bit about the process from watching them work. "Magical craftsmen make magical focuses, so naturally they use some magic to make them into magical weapons. It lets them harmonize and gel with other people's spells easier to make them easier to use. After that it's usually engraved or faceted into something else so the spells have a good flow through the tool." She explained pointing back to her lute that had patterns carved around the wooden surface that contained the strings and the metal piece that bridge the wooden gap. Following along with Parvati, she happily followed along trying to cling to the girl until they came across monsters. More goblins made her giggle a little in wait to see Parvati's next spell curiously. Seeing the lightning strike though, Korra rubbed her chin in thought looking at the pair of spells Parvati cast. She wasn't sure what to make of the girl's abilities. "Mmm.... Strange~" She mused wondering about Parvati's skills, it looked like they didn't have a rhyme or reason. "Your magic doesn't seem like it has a theme does it?" Korra asked rubbing her chin, though that usually meant one of two things. "I wonder, did you have both of those spells from when you were born? Or did one of them come from the Falna?" She asked wondering thinking she could help Parvati understand her magic a little bit better if she knew the answer. There was usually a theme that skills and magics kept to, but seeing something so different coming out from the same person, there were only two or three reasons why such a thing would ever really occur in Korra's experience. Though she wasn't exactly a sage when it came to magic, she felt confident about these things. She didn't miss the look of happiness on Parvati's face when she cast though, it made her lift a hand up to gently pat her cheek gently trying to be reassuring. "You did well though, see? You have strong magics." She explained hoping this would make Parvati feel a bit more confident and happy rather then angry or jealous. After all, everyone was so different, there was no reason to compare anyone to anyone else too much.
@Korra Quinn "What is strange?" Parvati asked as she got out her scimitar in preparation for them charging towards her. And charge they did, though one of them moved slower due to the shock it just received moments before. "I have no knowing-" She slashed at a goblin, causing it to reel back in pain. "...No knowing if I was born with magic," she finished, "But perhaps I was. First magic was fire magic, I do not know where-" She was interrupted by a goblin and she kicked it in the ribs. "...Know where lightning magic came from." The Amazoness narrowed her eyes at the two goblins, giving an experimental jab. Of course, one had to charge right at her. It met the metal end of her scimitar, inserting the blade into the heart area. It died and left a soul stone. One down. One more to go, she thought to herself as this goblin charged at her too. She backed off before beginning her chanting. “Flames that flicker in the darkness, surround your enemy and dance to the beat of their heart!” She thrusted out a palm at the goblin. "Flame dance!" The goblin was surrounded by flames, but that didn't satisfy her much. Remembering Korra's words about utilizing her fire magic, she concentrated with all her might and suddenly turned her palm into a fist. The move was instantaneous as the flames closed in on the goblin in a flash. Her eyes lit up when she saw she was able to do her little magic trick. "Yes!" She charged forward with her scimitar and dealt it the final blow as it was still reeling from being burned. The monster gave one last moan before disappearing and leaving behind its soul stone. She began to pick up the stones, her eyes shining with excitement. Everything went well, in her opinion. She wouldn't have gotten the idea to control it if it hadn't been for Korra, but she was more than happy to bask in her happiness over her control of her Flame Dance move.
Korra chuckled a little letting Parvati deal with the goblins while she decided on exactly how she should word things. "It's about your magic~ Usually there's a theme or a center right? Some people are just really good with fire, some people use music like me, some people have only enchantments; There's something that kind of explains what someone's magic is right?" She tried to explain with a sweet smile, lifting a hand and gesturing with it as if it would somehow help Parvati understand if she made gestures that matched her words. "Your two spells don't seem to have one, not one that I can understand at least." Korra explained turning her body to try and shoot her crossbow at a wall that was breaking. The goblin that was mid birth had been shot through an eye, but it was only because the thing hadn't moved much while being birthed out leaving the corpse stuck in the wall. "That means fire magic might have been what you were born with, and lightning could have come from the falna? Or, maybe your magic is elemental and you'll be able to learn other magics from Water or Winds too? I think it's something that you'll find out by growing and experimenting?" She offered wishing she could help more. If it were a good theme she could use to get to know the girl's magic, then she'd be able to help more, but it was difficult to tell with only two spells. She wasn't really certain what Parvati's style was or how it blended, but Parvati would probably know herself better then Korra in that respect. Trying to pry the bolt off of the goblin's head, Korra smiled brightly seeing how proud Parvati was about learning a bit more about her magic. It made her chuckle inwardly after dusting herself off and returning the bolt to her armored quiver with a shake to loose whatever happened to stick to it. "See?~ I knew you could do it if you tried~ Now you might be able to cast it on someone like yourself, then just not close it. Let a pillar of fire swirl around you as you stab things right?" She offered happily thinking up ways for Parvati to use her magic that were outside the box. "There might be a way to use your lightning different as well~ It's good to try new things and see how they work right?" She offered trying to pet the girl's head affectionately.
@Korra Quinn "Magic has a theme?" Parvati asked as she cocked her head to the side while standing up again, "...I see. I am unsure what this theme is for me." She sighed. If she knew what her theme was, maybe it would help her out with her magic a bit more. She didn't know, but she knew that it would certainly help if she did know about it. "Perhaps I should practice differences, to understand it better, yes?" The Amazoness blinked in surprise at the suggestion to surround herself with fire while attacking. "...I suppose so, but will it not burn me? I cannot help but think that will be the case," she said, looking doubtfully at the supporter. She had a feeling she wouldn't be able to control her fire magic well if she surrounded herself with it. Maybe it would even explode on her. She didn't know and didn't want to know. "Well, story singer, we should both practice together, yes?" Pause. "Though perhaps we are already doing the that." She chuckled a little at her last sentence she spoke. She then turned around to look down at the cavernous halls. "Let us away, and prepare for fights." With that, she began moving again, in search of monsters to slay.
Korra nodded back knowing that everyone usually had a theme to how they grew, it wasn't just an arbitrary process, there was a pattern people often followed or a niche they had that made them special. One that skills, magics usually aligned with, Korra herself was one that revolved around gathering people and collecting others, even Kessler had one that was a bit hard for her to understand, but the man himself seemed familiar with it. Eliah's earth magic was the same, so finding someone as versatile as Parvati left Korra at a bit of a loss, it could be any number of things! "When you learn more spells I'm sure it'll come into view and you'll understand a bit more! You just have to work up to that point right?" She offered happily. Though the thought about controlling it made Korra lift her head in thought. "Is that so? Couldn't you just call the flames and not let them close in on yourself?" She asked since it seemed like Parvati's magic made a ring of fire that slowly swallowed something up in flames, she thought if she just made the ring around herself but didn't swallow herself up she should be fine. It might not be true though, Korra's own magic was rather easy to use, she just thought about what to fix or heal and it was done, she just thought to bring or move Kirin and it did, there wasn't a lot of practice needed for her magic since it was so simple and relaxed. "Hehe, well, one step at a time then." She said happily wrapping an arm around Parvati's mid section once more pointing down the tunnel happily ready to continue on dungeoning. Though the thought of practicing brought her a lot of comfort and warmth as she rubbed the girl's stomach while they walked. "Right! We'll keep practicing until we're the best!" She said happily ready to charge forward once more, though she didn't like fighting, she did like having Parvati beside her. That was a bonus at the very least, it let her keep going, it kept her motivated even if only a little bit more then before. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- After a many more encounters, Korra was a bit more comfortable. She was clearly still dissatisfied but she could at least place her shot where she wanted without flying wide to either sides. Her reloading speed was a bit more comfortable too, perhaps not in line with a normal archer, but as someone who wielded a crossbow, it wasn't so strange or slow. Looking at the goblins she'd taken down with arrows, she glanced back to Parvati with a heavy sigh. She was getting used to it, but still found herself disliking it. "Soon I'll be strong enough for Hydra." She mumbled under her breath while retrieving her arrows. Trying to maintain a chipper outlook, she didn't rush and instead kicked a few of the remains that hadn't faded into dust. Kirin was a lot bloodier then the start, not his own naturally but from spearing the occasional Kobold that appeared. Kobolds were too much for Korra to shoot down and she worried about Parvati's ability to melee a Kobold urging Kirin to take the things down whenever they appeared. Those speed demons were far too much for Korra to take down alone, it was for that reason she relied on Kirin for anything heavier then a goblin until she was ready.
@Korra Quinn "Mm, yes, I do have to work hard," Parvati murmured as she thought it over. Indeed, she had a long way to go concerning her magic. Who knows when she'll reach her zenith? The Amazoness immediately shook her head at Korra. "No, bad feeling. I cannot explain, but bad feeling about using it as it surrounds me." She sighed. "Anyway, story singer, let us leave and go." ~*~ Time had passed and Parvati found herself growing tired. Of course, she used her magic a bit more frequently as they fought their way through the Dungeon, but she didn't know why she was feeling so tired. She never had a mind down before, having only practiced her magic back at home until she felt a little exhausted before stopping. She was feeling a little dizzy now after using her Thunder Strike spell on a another goblin. She didn't know why, and it frustrated her that she didn't know why she was feeling so week. Her scimitar trembled in her hand as the goblin charged at them. Her movements were sloppy as she fought back, trying to push herself past the limit.
Korra wiped her forehead happily, while stress was building up for her, it was no more then a frantic sprint around. Her weapon was a crossbow so she didn't have to work herself too hard, but she shared exhaustion with Kirin that made her sigh heavily. It would no doubt get worse when her other hopefuls are mixed in but at the same time by then she hoped to acquire skills that would support her creatures through her. Seeing Parvati growing Lathargic as well though, Korra cocked her crossbow back once more, drawing things back once more with the rapid clicking of the mechanization sounding off once more before she turned it up to loose an arrow at the goblin she was fighting. Korra's aim wasn't yet spectacular, but she aimed for the torso of the smaller creature to ensure a hit at the very least. The bolt would slide smoothly into it's target, being driven into the goblin's torso thrusting it back for Kirin to stamp down on it fiercely. Korra couldn't let Parvati get injured for nothing after all. Perhaps if she could ensure the girls' clothes were the only thing damaged, Korra would be a great deal more lax, but things were dangerous int he dungeon. "Be careful hun, you don't want ignis fatuus happening suddenly. You're good at magic but you don't want to die from such a newbie mistake." She explained reaching a hand out to try and support Parvati gently seeing how dizzy she was acting.
@Korra Quinn It took her a while for her brain to process what Korra said though. Well, it was true she didn't want to make any beginner mistakes, but she had no idea what a beginner mistake was and which ones she was making. Her thoughts kept going in loops, repeating the message the supporter gave to her. "...Ignus fatuus?" Parvati asked wearily, "What is that?" She had never heard of the term, and it even sounded more foreign than the language she spoke to all Orarians, which confused the tired girl. She wasn't in that much of a mood to think much about it, though. Rather, she still wanted to continue, despite how tired she was.
Korra continued to try reassuring touches, patting her head or stroking her cheek, things to keep the girl awake and alert rather then dropping into mind down status. It was perhaps something Korra might have ulterior motives for, but it was someting that she thought would keep Parvati from passing out. "You're experiencing Mind down dear-- If you keep exerting yourself you're going to lose consciousness from Magic drain. If you keep trying to force it out, what will happen is Ignus fatuus, Death by Magical self-destruction. Magic requires concentration, and if you can't maintain that when casting, you'll self destruct." She tried to explain thinking that Parvati would push herself too far if not pushed. Trying to help Parvati onto Kirin's back thinking that this might be as good a place to stop as any, she flashed the girl a gentle smile. "You pushed yourself a little hard just now right? It's okay though, you can count on me to get you back to the surface and things~" She explained, her head full of ideas like helping Parvati change or taking care of her while she was dizzy. Such fun! This was something she kept to herself though as she tried supporting Parvati and make sure that she wasn't going to slip off of Kirin's back.
@Korra Quinn "...Oh..." That would explain why she felt so tired this time around. She probably felt tired at other times too, but this one stood out to her because she purposely tried to use her magic and pushing past her limits. Maybe it was because she wanted to show off how good she was at magic compared to other Amazonesses? That probably had a factor in it. "Thank you for the help, story singer," Parvati sighed as her shoulders drooped. She grimaced at the thought of being helpless like when she ran into that male Runarl. Not a pleasant thought, remembering it. "I will stop using magic...for now. When does it go away?" she asked, her voice showing her how exhausted she was.
Korra let out a soft laugh, taking the time to try and reassure her with soft petting as she gave some thought about how to explain mind down properly. "Well, it's like normal exhaustion? You just need rest until you can get your mind straight. Some people pass right out on the floor, some people kill themselves trying to push past, it's never a good thing though, it's always troublesome and leads to bad ends." She tried to offer an explanation as best she could without having a scholarly background. Korra wasn't exactly a magical professional but this was simply what she knew from stories and warnings from other people, it was never good to push past limits when it came to magic, but to safely form a foundation and move steadily one step at a time evenly. "A big part of magic is restraint and understanding you know? It's not like working out muscles where you get better by pushing yourself. It's not like the body where we'll be able to see results and demerits right?" She offered hoping that would calm Parvati down, though a happy smile made it's way to her face as Kirin began carrying them through the tunnels preparing to go back dashing through small groups of goblins here or there to push farther faster. "You did very well though, even mastering one of your magics right? The rest just comes with practice and learning your limits." She said in a tender tone hoping Parvati didn't take the experience too hard.
@Korra Quinn "Oh..." Pause. "So...all I need is to rest?" she asked, looking at Korra. She didn't really mind the petting since it wasn't in an indecent place as of yet. "Then...I will rest," she sighed. Truthfully, she still wanted to test the limits of her magic more, but if this mind down killed her, then where will she be? Probably leaving the supporter alone, that's what. Parvati took the time to watch what little scenery went by as they headed away, knocking into goblins and just generally going at a brisk pace. She didn't exactly know how to rest when it came to magic and minds. Maybe not thinking would help? But that in and of itself was hard. She sighed as she leaned onto Korra for a moment, closing her eyes. Her fuzzy, exhausted mind didn't think about the implications of her gesture.
