Risk Level: I In the fields outside of Orario. Rumor has it that a strange rabbit like creature has begun to appear before those who go off the main road. The area is normally safe but this creature is some sort of new species and it has been said that it has a unique rainbow like fur that is known to be on creatures that have somehow gotten a hold of a shard of distorted chaotic matter. It has not attacked anyone as of yet but those who wish to investigate this issue should show up here and make a attempt to capture or even slay the critter so that travelers gain some peace of mind. The field is free of any travelers today. The last carriage had passed several hours ago en route to Orario. A calm breeze is blowing and it is a quiet afternoon. It's one of the last warm days before a cold spell marks the beginning of the winter months ahead. A few large rocks jut out of the grass here and there and no other animals both dangerous and non threatening seem to be around. Could the mysterious little creature being called a Wabbit be wandering about today? The DM controls the Wabbit. Post in this thread only if you intend to attempt the quest. You may leave whenever you wish. Post order is the order you join the thread. While more than one may attempt to accomplish this quest, know that only the one who acquires the shard will get a reward, post in HERE if you complete the quest. This quest is failed if the Wabbit escapes the field. DM will state if that occurs. Stats and character talents will effect success rate as well as IC tactics used. You may kill or capture the Wabbit. Both will yield the same reward. It may be harder to kill than you think... Time limit has been removed.
Marzipan had heard of the strange rabbit like creature that was just outside in the Orarian plains. Honestly, it was because of a couple of jabs due to her being a Hume Bunny by other adventurers. It was driving her mad, in all honesty. Why the heck should adventurers make fun of her own race like that? That wasn't right to her and she got into many a fight because of it. Now she was here, out in the plains, searching for the rabbit that was causing her a lot of trouble. She scoffed as she began searching through the fields, intent on at least capturing the rabbit. She wasn't sure how easy it would be to kill the thing, though. Rabbits were fast, after all, not counting Hume Bunnies because darn it all she was a proud warrior of her race and she just hated it when people compared her species to a common rabbit. "Okay, where are you, you stupid little bugger," she muttered underneath her breath as she scoured the fields. Her mind was still clouded by thought of being humiliated by other adventurers due to race. She was more than mad about it and she planned on taking it out on the rabbit...once she managed to find the darned thing.
Marzipan's hunt would yield little as nothing that resembled the Wabbit appeared. Even more time would pass without any luck. After several hours of searching. Marzipan, if she was still alert, might have noticed a small head popping out from behind one of the eastern rocks that sparsely littered the plains. The bunny's ears were bright red and blue. It's nose twitched as it looked back and forth quickly and stared it's big bunny eyes at the hume-bunny girl. Seeing Marzipan in the distance with it's enhanced vision. It's head would vanish back behind the rock. WABBIT IN THE AREA!!! Marzipan was getting irritated the more time she spent looking for the wabbit. She had taken the job so that adventurers would stop mocking her about it, but the search seemed to prove to be fruitless and it frustrated her to no end that she couldn't find the damn thing and deal with it once and for all. She plopped onto the ground with a huff, crossing her arms and tapping her finger on her arm as she thought. The hell was she supposed to do now? She couldn't go back empty handed, but she was getting tired searching for the wabbit and not coming up with anything. Maybe someone had already gotten to it, she didn't know. Her ears twitched as she heard something and she began to look around for the source. She saw a red and blue bunny ears that quickly darted away. Her eyes lit up. "About damn time!" She leaped to her feet and started cautiously approaching the creature as not to disturb it. Hopefully she would be able to get a good look at it before it ran away.
_____Shigure was not out here intentionally to catch the small rabbit, in fact she was only passing the area on her return trip from training outside the city when she noticed the Hume bunny girl looking for something and decided to watch from a hiding spot. She was not much for making much sound as she sat on the rock to the west side, her tail flicking slowly with amusement as she dried the sweet off herself with a towel. She was returning to see if Hades needed anything of her, but when the rabbit poked it's head out Shigure's tail stood up on alert. Her expression turned a light blush before she moved off her seating. _____Her figure quickly falling to the grass as she got on all fours, her tail flicking quickly to one side before a brief delay before it would move again. the time between her tail movements soon sped up before she began to sway slowly, her eyes focused on where she last saw the bunny before she began crawling around the outskirt of the clearing. She was in no rush unless the rabbit looked her way, as she would react simply by diving for the closest cover she could find and waiting it out for some time before checking if it was safe to move again. _____Her mind was already thinking of what she would do if what she saw was real. if that was a multi colored rabbit, she had never heard of one before. Such a creature being taken to Hades would not doubt earn her some praise, that was her only reason for staying to catch the rabbit. If the girl got in Shigure's way she would soon find out despite no weapons on her figure, she was keeping everything but her katana in the bag on her back as she ducked under a cover to the left side of the Rabbit's last known location.
The Wabbit was able to pick up the smell of Shigure nearby, however it was unable to spot her. Only that she was to the west. The approaching Marzipan was also unknown but it did see her look at it before it ducked behind it's rock. Deciding that they were nonthreatening at their current distances and dealing with a near constant desire to stay active due to it's steadily rising chaotic energy. The Wabbit left it's hiding place and began to proceeding doing what so many spotted it doing... running around randomly at incredibly high speeds. The Wabbit left the rock and headed east, leaving a trail of multi color sparkles behind it into the air. It's hops were varying heights which increased the oddness of the sight. Some were barely off the ground while others were high into the air making enormous leaps around the plains. It turned to the south, then west, then north, then south again. It continued to make random turns this way and that afterward. It hopped around like this for a while. Uncaring about it's surroundings... WABBIT IN THE AREA!!! Marzipan cursed under her breath when the rabbit began darting about the field. This sucked, this whole thing sucked! She watched as the speedy little critter ran around with her brows furrowed. She had to admit, the little bugger was fast. How was she supposed to catch it at this rate? She didn't know. The Hume Bunny plopped down onto the ground as she tried to figure out how to get ahold of the wabbit. She didn't have any traps with her, just some food and water and her weapons. She briefly wondered if rabbits could eat bread, maybe she could lure it out with her lembas bread. The idea was immediately discarded when she realized how foolish that was.
_____Shigure blinked a few times, unable to register just what she had seen. But as she watched the Rabbit move much faster then she could even at her top speed, she grew hostile towards it. To think such a creature would be able to outrun her, it needed to be crippled or killed for such. Shigure swung her bag off her back and began going through her smaller bags kept within. Her hands pulling out her bag of spikes as she grinned coldly before running into the open. _____She would keep both hands near the small bag at her waist, each time she passed a cover or taller patch of grass she would discard a few of spikes in the area before moving to the next. She made sure that some she left nothing, while others no more then ten of the small spikes that would no doubt help in this rabbit hunt. Shigure wasted no second thought as she ran towards the Hume-bunny girl and jump over her while she was seated. She seemed to enjoy the action, she stuck her tounge out while directly over the rabbit girl before she landed and kept running around randomly setting her traps. _____By the end of the few minutes she was breathing heavily, but had a good thirty spots randomly across the field with her traps set out. Her memory of each spot was not the best, but she could guess the spots she would have left them. Falling backwards as she took a moment to catch her breath and look for the rabbit. She would have to go back to her old hiding spot to get more things from her bag later if this did not work as well as she had hoped, but for now it was a game of 'I spy a rainbow bunny'.
The Wabbit stayed out of reach of Shigure while it moved. This however would not avoid the spikes for too long. Landing on them with all it's weight the little creature got them stuck into it's paws. The Wabbit slowed down and eventually came to a full stop as it's feet throbbed in pain. Falling onto it's back. The Wabbit seemed to be kicking the air trying to remove the nails. It rolled about helplessly, leaving lots of rainbow sparkles in the grass. WABBIT IN THE AREA!!! Marzipan couldn't help but yelp when Shigure suddenly jumped on her back and used the momentum to leap over her. She didn't notice the tongue sticking out as the female leaped over her. She remained on the ground, blinking stupidly at the cat folk that scurried off to who knows where. The heck is she doing? she thought to herself as she watched for a moment before shaking her head. Right, the wabbit. She stood up from her position and began to look around for the wabbit. She lost sight of it after the thing decided to run off someplace, so she had no idea where the little bugger was. With a grunt, she began scouring the fields for some semblance of the rainbow rabbit that was getting on her nerves. While in the tall grass, she felt something sharp prick her feet. The Hume Bunny let out a yelp at the sudden sharp feeling and lifted her feet up to see what she stepped on, brushing away the grass to get a closer look. It seemed as though she had stepped on a spike of some sort. Frowning, she eased the spike out of her shoe and tossed it onto the ground. Whatever that came from, she would probably have to be more careful in the future. She then returned to looking for the rabbit, trying to find its location.
_____Shigure was not in a good mood because of the rabbit's speed. Slowly walking over towards the creature as it tried to kick the spikes out. Left hand moving to pin the neck and limit air flow before she picked it up with such manner. She glared at the creature before turning to the bunny girl with a slightly odd smile, the action still not her cup of tea as she spoke. " Nyaa will be taking this, try to stop me at your own risk." Even if Shigure had to listen to Hades order to not kill anyone the goddess said nothing about threatening them. _____Tightening her grip around the rabbit's neck until she could visible start to see it's eyes fading before she would loosen the grip to keep it alive just enough. She had no plans to kill it swiftly, or kill it unless Hades had no use for the rabbit. Turning towards her bag she began to walk away. Her ears twitching to keep some focus on the bunny girl incase she opposed Shigure taking the rabbit away or treating it in such way. If nothing was done to stop her she would use her small bag that once held the spikes to keep the Rabbit's legs together, and stuff it into her bag before slinging it over her shoulder and walking away.
Wabbit Caught! Chaos Shard Acquired! The creature Shigure had captured became wild in her hands. It struggled helplessly and it's head began to twist in unrealistic ways. As Shigure tried to leave with her prize, the wabbit shook and flexed more and more until it... burst. A burst of sparkles would cover Shigure and blow into the wind before dissipating. The only thing to remain was a single multi color prism in Shigure's hand. It's power was unknown and whether to return it to it's rightful owner was also up to the her.... if she even knew who seeks these strange shards to begin with. Shigure has acquired the thread shard! Please exit thread on next post. Marzipan may attempt to take shard if desired. Thread extends if shard is contested. NOTE: Must report to the quest thread to gain reward!
Marzipan was still looking around for the rabbit when she stumbled upon it kicking its feet to dislodge some spikes out of it. Before she could move towards it, however, the cat folk from earlier came forth and began squeezing the life out of the rabbit. She stood there in surprise as the cat folk girl said she would be taking it. Then the wabbit burst into her hands and left a shard. She just saw the thing disappearing, but she couldn't see what was in Shigure's hands. At least the people won't be teasing her any time soon. With a grunt and a shrug, she began to gingerly make her way through the tall grass, once more accidentally stepping on a spike. She pulled it out and tossed it aside before continuing onward.
