Slow and Steady: Part 2 (solo/invite)

  1. FLOOR 2

It has been three days since her last foray into the dungeon. Cecilia arrived on floor two with the intent to get a better and less interfered with training session. The events of last time were still on her mind and she had sworn to herself and Brian that she would give the culprits that acted with such treachery a very painful repercussion for such deeds. Still, she was uncertain of their strength and perhaps it would be better to let the guild do something about it. It really depended on who found them first.

The floor really was not all that different from floor 1. Weak monsters and adventurers a plenty. This would irritate someone who was trying to go solo like Cecilia was, but she knew that progress took time. She just hoped it didn't take too long because her father was becoming more adamant about the military thing. If she didn't become Odin's right hand her hopes would be destroyed by getting absorbed into the military. Well, maybe not destroyed but it would not make her long term goals any easier.

Room after room. Hack, stab, cut, grab drops, rinse repeat. Cecilia didn't actually want to be a adventurer. It was pretty monotonous. This dungeon held some secrets probably... but she was unsure if it had any real impact on completing her ambitions. So far... it was just a bunch of sticking blades through goblins. Still, no pain no gain. She simply had to do more and get things done. The deeper the floor the more dangerous, and thankfully the less simplistic and mind numbing it would be.

"Sixteen. Already better than last time at this rate."

Cecilia gathered the soul stones from the room where the last battle occurred. Her sword needed a good cleaning so she began to wipe it down with a cloth. She wasn't sure why she always did that. It would just get covered in monster fluids again. She had a bit of a habit that she just couldn't shake though.

  2. Cecilia had finally reached the path to floor three. This was where most would never dare to go alone. Taking a moment to recover, Cecilia checked her supply and storage bags. Things were going well. She felt a slowly growing exhaustion but she was fairly certain that she could proceed. Should she? Before she finalized the decision. A voice called out from that very path. It was the voice of the girl that was part of a pair that Cecilia met during her last trip.

"Hey thair! How is it going? Done thuh other guy git out okay?'

The girls accent wasn't something she remembered from before. Maybe her focus was on Brian and missed it. Cecilia gave a smile and a modest wave of greeting. It was good that some people still cared about others. In her social circles, people were pretty much just assholes. The noble replied with a friendly but direct tone.

"He is perfectly fine now. The Guild is still hoping to figure out who caused the assault... "

The girl shook her head as her partner came up from behind. She made a look of great concern as her hands went to the hips of her white robe. Now that Cecilia had another chance to meet her. The girl was probably some kind of healer. Her partner was the obvious heavy lifter of the two.

"Darn trouble makers out thair ah tell ya!"

The girl nodded as she agreed with herself. The large warrior just stood silent.

"We plumb give 'em a wallop ifin' we fahnd 'em! Ya tay-uk care now gal!"

The white robed adventurer gestured to her big comrade as they headed on their way out.

Cecilia couldn't help but rub her chin in thought at the two from behind. They certainly did not seem to stay in one place for too long. Probably for the best down here. Bracing herself, she went down to floor three. Making the earliest part of the floor her spot to kill and collect at.

  3. Floor 3

The third floor was finally a place with fewer interruptions for someone who just wanted to train without pause. Indeed a pause was much less frequent here than on the earlier floors. Cecilia's blade dripped with goblin blood as they came three and four at a time. Now there were a few throwing stones as well as swinging shoddy weapons. She could see why it was foolish for most to come here alone. Cecilia was not the majority however. This increased intensity was just what she was seeking for her self improvement.

Deflecting goblin swords and trying her hardest to avoid the barrage of rocks that were coming from the goons. Cecilia moved quickly and struck fiercely. Unfortunately she had to rake a few more rock tosses than she thought. The bastards were throwing whenever she attacked a goblin for too long. Their strategy had improved as well. The only solution would be either to take the blows or keep moving while her sword was in motion. Tired of rocks... Cecilia opted for the constant motion plan.

The only reason she was even surviving, unbeknownst to her, was her passive skill that caused enemies to react with less confidence. The ability would only get her so far at her current level though. Using a recovery potion in between killing goblins. Cecilia noticed her stash dropping a lot faster now. It may be time to head back...

Cecilia slowly made her way to the route back to floor two. Her weariness had grown substantially and she felt her accomplishment today was solid enough. She wiped off her sword which was utterly coated in blood as she ascended the stairs. Cecilia couldn't help but wish that healer girl had shown back up. She could use a better source of recovery than these slow working potions.

  4. Floor 1

    Back to floor one.

Cecilia wiped sweat from her forehead with her hand. This day had been more draining than the last. That was actually a good thing. The weight of the soul stones and other drops was pulling on her belt increasing the amount of strength she needed to head back to the exit. Her potions were down to only one last bottle. A look of exhaustion, but also one of accomplishment was on her face.

There was no sign of the attackers from last time nor did she bump into that robed girl and her partner. The goblins on the way back ere harder due to the increased level of fatigue Cecilia was under. Still, as she became closer and closer to the exit, her morale simply rose higher. Someday these floors would be trivial and she would be that much closer to her dreams,

    Silly delusional dreams... right?
