Patience and Healing

Discussion in 'Old City' started by Parvati Roshan, Nov 17, 2016.

  1. Parvati was walking alongside Kirin, a strange sight to behold to an onlooker as they made their way through the old city. Her expression was grim as she stared straight ahead as they walked. She needed to find a healer, one that would help Korra out with her injuries. She would have looked back to check on her if she knew she had to find a healer and fast.

The Amazoness moved as quickly as she could, trying to find someplace with a doctor or a healer of some kind. She didn't want to ask for directions, but if push came to shove...well, she didn't know. She just knew that she had to get Korra to a place where she could rest. "Story singer?" she asked, not glancing back and hoping that she would be able to hear some faint response.

  2. Korra had been spending a long time remaining conscious on Kirin's back, after all, if she fell asleep, it might make the damage worse. She knew at least a marginal amount of her damage, ribs, concussion, hairline fractures from place to place. She felt a lot of pain after all, and didn't really want to aggravate her injuries. With Parvati helping her though, Korra began to think of exactly where they should go so she could get some help.

With a few short breaths, she glanced over her shoulder to Parvati with a warm smile. "After all this, you could call me 'Korra' you know, that's my name." She commented with a small smile, after getting this close, the cute nickname was still endearing, but it didn't hurt to hear Parvati say her name either. Though when she considered where to go, Korra sat up gesturing down the road with a soft hand. "There's a shop down that way that has potions, the owner knows some low level healing magic that will at least get me in good shape..."

She nodded. "Very well, Korra," she said, her tone indicating she was using her name teasingly, "I will find this potion shop. Help you get better." She grunted as she began keeping an eye out for any signs or something to indicate that they sold potions or something of the like. She wasn't too sure where it was, but she hoped that the bard would able to be healed soon.

Finally, she spotted a sign with the picture of a half filled flask over the door frame, along with the words indicating that it was the potion shop Korra spoke of. "I think we are here?" she said uncertainly as she entered the premises, "Hello? Is shopkeeper here?" Pause. "Anyone? I need some attending to, a friend is injured." There was some shuffling noise and a man appeared into view.

"Need something?" he asked. She nodded as she gestured to the outside and showed Kirin with his burden. He frowned at the sight. "Come on in." Parvati gave a glance back before entering the shop. The shop had many shelves filled with different colored potions in differently shaped glass. It set a nice atmosphere, in her opinion.

  4. Korra smiled brightly despite her pain, waving at the man with a coy grin, though his brow furrowed when he welcomed them in it was more because this was familiar for him. Stepping inside, the man gestured to a seat for Parvati before shuffling through his wares in silence initially, Korra couldn't help a sweet but hard pressed chuckle as Kirin tried to carry her inside. "Old man, this isn't the worst shape you've found me in." She tried to tease, but the man was obviously in no mood only because of how familiar this was for him. Korra after all was a homeless vagrant, one that trusted far too easily in others, particularly women. It wasn't the first time one had gotten her into trouble or severely injured forcing her to crawl to his shop or be dragged by Kirin because of her condition.

Initially, he glanced at Parvati, a somewhat accusatory gaze initially, as if thinking she was to blame, but Korra gestured with a hand trying to get his attention as she spoke. "I got to see Teacher today... Hydra... Hydra's still waiting there thinking that he'll wake up." She said with a gentle expression. The words made the shop keeper stiffen, glancing over his shoulder to Korra, the man seemed conflicted for a moment before responding. "Darius... He's really gone then?" "You didn't believe me?~" "...I didn't think there'd be a monster that would turn him away." The man answered as if at a loss and confused. He didn't seem to know exactly how to deal with the truth either, like Hydra he seemed to have some hope.

Korra only shook her head though, as if she were one of the only ones who truly knew just how gone her teacher was in life, she didn't have any hope for him being able to come back from the damage done. "It's not that it turned Teacher away... I just don't think anyone knew what it really meant to confront Jabberwock. I know I didn't back then... I don't think Teacher did either." Korra confessed, accepting the potion the man finally offered her, though he began chanting a small magic to help. She felt better, though her face was still pale, her breathing had grown even over time. She put a hand to her stomach, feeling discomfort from the man's magic, but he turned to Parvati after dusting his hands off. "She will need time for the bones to set back up, but the worst is past, make sure she doesn't do anything too strenuous until tomorrow." He spoke simple instructions Korra was already tryng to ignore.

Parvati met the man's gaze with the fierce pride of an Amazoness. She disliked and distrusted men, especially if they accused her of doing something wrong when she clearly didn't. She listened to the conversation quietly as the man got to work, making a potion for Korra. She still shuddered when she remembered how close to death they were.

She didn't know what a Jabberwock was, but she got the feeling it would be worse than whatever Hydra was. She still kept quiet when the man instructed her to not let Korra do anything to strenuous before tomorrow came. She simply nodded and got up, moving towards the bard. "Feeling better, story singer?" she asked, "Or should I say Korra?" She flashed a teasing smile at her. "Would sleeping outside make you be better?"

  6. Korra flashed a warm smile to Parvati, though she still shuddered and her hands and legs quaked, she wasn't as stressed as before. As if she was experiencing muscle weakness as a side effect she nodded back with a soft chuckle. "A little bit better, good enough to share a bath again." Though hearing Parvati's question about sleeping outside, Korra's brow perked as light flashed in her eyes considering what Parvati meant, a warm grin on her face as she tried to lean forward to use Parvati's shoulders as support even if it meant pressing against her more then usual.

"If it didn't would you let me stay with you mm? A fun sleep over maybe?" She asked with a coy smile curious about whether or not Parvati was trying to proposition her with a place to stay or simply just asking her if she had a place to curl up. Though seeing Parvati trying to tease her more made her grin, it seemed like hope was slowly becoming a reality one step at a time. "After all, I might need help getting changed." She murmured trying to tease the girl back.

  7. @Korra Quinn

Parvati began to blush slightly at the mention of the bath. Though the bath did help her relax, it was still...not exactly embarrassing, but something private that should stay private. She glanced back at the owner of the potion shop. Especially if there was a man present, he didn't need to know about her private business!

"Yes, I was thinking of sleeping with you," she said, not realizing that statement could be taken the wrong way. Her blush deepened when Korra said that last bit. Her, changing the bard's clothing? It was inconceivable! She didn't know how to react to that. "A-Anyway, we should get going now, yes?" she asked, a bit flustered.

  8. Korra flashed a brighter smile at Parvati's offer to sleep with her, her bright excited expression jokingly misunderstanding the woman who probably wouldn't realize until it was too late. "Sleep together huh? I don't know, we've only known each other for so-- Okay, I mean if you're sure." She played out cutely, teasing the girl back with a warm grin since she was blushing so much, Korra found it cute enough to try and give her heart a gentle push. Though even if the girl really did have that sort of intention, Korra would no doubt be suspicious, instead it was best to wait until feelings bloomed since they seemed to be budding so furiously.

"Alright then, let's go." She said trying to throw her arms around the girl as if expecting to be carried or walked out by Parvati. With a wave to the shop owner, she walked along with the flustered girl happily humming as if nothing was wrong. Her pale complexion and quaking frame the only real indication since her mood had mellowed so much upon returning to safety with Parvati.

Parvati didn't get what Korra meant at first. Then she realized what she said to her when she thought back on her statement. She flushed a brilliant red color. "Er, not like that, I am assuming," she said quickly, shaking her head, "I meant just friend like, yes?" She hoped Korra wasn't getting anymore ideas from her words.

The Amazoness nodded and helped Korra up, letting her wrap her arms around her body as the two walked out of the potion shop. "Where shall we go, story singer?" she asked, "I can hunt for food, so we can be fine, yes?" She knew that the bard loved the outdoors now, ever since they talked about freedom. At least she's back to her old self, she thought to herself as she looked at Korra.

  10. Korra chuckled a little at her reddened cheeks, it made her heart thump but she couldn't help teasing this poor girl more. "Only as friends huh?" She asked with a small smile as if trying to gently nudge Parvati with a playful suspicion that there was at least a smidgen more. Though when she talked about where to go and hunting for food, Korra couldn't help musing, this was a good chance after all to try and open up a little more right? Why not take that chance?

"Oh? Why don't I just go home with you huh? We can have your favorite this time since Hunting and prepping things is a lot of work right?" She offered with a smile to see what Parvati lived like and ate since she was someone who enjoyed the luxury more. Korra after all wasn't exactly poor, she just didn't have anything she wanted to spend money on really. "It'll be fun right?~" She said curious about whether or not Parvati might have left out anything in her room she didn't want others to see, oh it was all so exciting for the bard who's imagination was overactive.

  11. @Korra Quinn

Parvati just shrugged at the only friends comment. So far, they were. She was starting to find the girl a little endearing, her mellow and helpful personality a plus to it all. Though she couldn't help but pause when she thought back on it. Had they really become friends after meeting each other a few times? It seemed too soon, and yet, here she was calling Korra a friend. And she honestly didn't mind it.

The Amazoness' eyes lit up when she said that they could go to her favorite place to eat. "I can show you place," she said, "Somewhere in trading district, must head to markets first before reach restaurant." She couldn't help but frown, reminding herself of Korra's injury. "Can you make it there, story singer?"

  12. Korra chuckled a little, seeing Parvati's struggle and eyes light up. It was a good feeling seeing her so ecited. "It'll be my treat." She spoke with a warm grin trying to give Parvati a soft squeeze while she was hugging and clinging onto her so she wouldn't fall. Though when she mentioned her being able to make it there being an issue, Korra couldn't help a melodious laugh. If she ever had an issue, transportation would never be it, glancing back to Kirin, she reached up for it's mane. Her efforts to get on were shaky, clearly, she practically flopped onto it's back. The Majestic creature even lowered itself down towards the dirt to try and make it easier for Korra to fall onto it properly before she hung from it like some kind of luggage or baggage.

"It won't be too hard right? This was always the reason I was popular in dungeons too, I could just carry people in Kirin's bags or double up on his back." She explained trying to roll around until she fasted the sky with her legs hanging off both sides of Kirin idly. She didn't exactly have the strength to ride properly, but since they were simply strolling she didn't need to prepare for harsh movements with a proper pose. "Lead the way okay?~" She urged with a smile.

  13. @Korra Quinn

Ah, right. She forgot about Kirin. At least the beast was gentle with her, but that was probably because they've known each other for a long time. "Very well, I lead," she said, ushering the girl to follow her through the old city and into the trading district. As more shops came into view, more people began crowding the streets, leaving barely enough room to move.

Finally, Parvati pointed to a sign in the distance. "Look, there!" she said as she went over to the building she recognized as her favorite restaurant. The restaurant was called "The Dancing Bear." She headed on inside, waiting for Korra to join her. Then she remembered her injuries and went back out to help her. "Lots of fish here, fish fresh and well cooked," she said, almost drooling at the thought of eating seasoned fish by the plateful.

  14. Korra happily reclined lazily, though whether or not Parvati knew, even though their relationship was certainly close, the reason the creature was so attentive was largely because of their bond. Kirin could grow and mature faster because of her magical power, it was for that reason Hydra also wasn't as strong as usual because her teacher died. If it wasn't for her, he wouldn't be as powerful of a creature and would no doubt end up younger then he was now which would become infuriating for the creature who had already shed it's young pony-like body with the help of Korra's development. Going back was a prospect Kirin didn't enjoy entertaining, in order for it to be safe and sound with it's current power, it needed Korra to be safe and sound as well which was why it was so cautious.

Seeing her pointing to a restaurant though, Korra cocked her head, being left behind made her grin as she saw Parvati turn around, the girl obviously anxious. "Hehe, so much so you forgot about me? How cruel~" She teased back clinging to Parvati like a drunk as she went in. Though she hadn't had enough alcohol to make it to that point before in her life, if someone was watching, they'd no doubt suspect Korra might have had a few too many up til now. "You like Fish huh?" She teased again happily remembering their girlish conversation earlier where they discussed favorite things.

  15. @Korra Quinn

"Yes, yes I do," she said excitedly, "Mother and sisters would make fun of me and try to make me eat raw. Not fun." Her face screwed up at the thought of having to eat raw fish. But that memory quickly passed as the two of them headed inside. It was a fairly busy place, but they didn't have to wait long before a hostess led them to a table and seated them.

Each of them were handed a menu to look at and Parvati just skimmed it, kind of knowing what to get. "Ah, story singer Korra," she said as she glanced at the menu, "What kind of food do you like? Meats, in particular? Or vegetables? I do not think you told me so." She put down her menu and looked at the human female.

  16. Korra chuckled sweetly, though the thought of eating fish raw made her hum. Hanging her head, as if trying to remember, she fished through memories of her childhood and finally perked her head up in thought. "Once when I was small, my teacher would tell me stories. Did you know there are villages near an ocean that's supposed to be a really huge lake where they eat fish raw. It's supposed to be really famous and popular by the coast, hehe." She said, though her memory was fuzzy, he told her a specific name for that style of food but she couldn't quite remember it. All she remembered was that it happened to be the place where Kirins originated.

Glancing at the menu though, Korra pushed it open with a soft heft before glancing down at the contents with a musing expression. Asked about what kind of foods she liked though, Korra couldn't help a hum of thought. Korra was naturally mellow by nature, this was made worse by her encounter as a child to become a person with only a single speed when it didn't concern girls. Food, as long as it tasted good was good enough for her. Favorites made her stop and think though. "Mm... I actually really like grains~ Bread, Pasta, Rice... I don't get to eat it a lot though." She explained with a sweet smile, after all, grains required fields and processing usually, for Korra who usually hunted or gathered from the woods, such things were rare indeed unless she happened to be in the mood to buy one impulsively to enjoy it.

  17. @Korra Quinn

Parvati's face screwed up at the thought of a whole area by the coast eating fish raw. She would rather not think about it, crispy fish was much better than raw fish anyhow. She had to raise an eyebrow at Korra's favorite kind of food. "I did not know you liked grain," she said, "Shame you do not buy it, but I suppose you do not need to."

A waitress came by over to their table to take their order, drinks an appetizers first if they wanted appetizers. "Water, please. Story singer, what kind of drink and appetizer do you want, if at all?" she asked, looking expectantly at Korra. She wasn't sure what the girl would answer. Maybe something simple? Who knew but the girl herself.

  18. Korra nodded back with a warm grin knowing that she only really bought her favorite foods impulsively. Rice, bread and pasta dishes weren't something she could make so easily, so when she was in the mood she'd splurge, but it wasn't exactly a need for her who grew up without them. "I do every once in a while, I know a nice place that does a kind of seafood rice, the name is strange, it begins with a P-- I can never remember it though. Meaty pasta is another good one I'll eat when I'm having a sad day to try and cheer up." She explained contently knowing that she had the money to visit if she wanted but going every day wasn't necessary.

The question of an appetizer made Korra grin though, there were a variety of things other people would probably enjoy over the menu, but if Korra had to pick her favorite, it was no doubt the most boring. "Bread!" She said with a coy grin. "And butter-- Please~" She asked knowing that the warm up bread that was sometimes served was a happy appetizer for her who didn't get to enjoy it often.

  19. Parvati couldn't help but smile at Korra's eagerness when she answered the waitress. "I will have water and salad myself," she said. The waitress nodded and left the table, intent on getting their orders. She watched the girl leave, wondering what kind of life the girl would live in Telskyura. Not as a waitress for one, that's men's work.

"Ah, is that so?" she said to the bard, cocking her head to the side, "Sounds good, perhaps, if I find it, I can try it. But for now, fish." She rubbed her hands together at the thought of having the catch of the day, seasoned with herbs and spices. She couldn't help but do that gesture, she was excited to be having some fish. Then a thought came to her head. "What will Kirin have?" she asked.

  20. Korra only giggled back at the thought of taking Parvati to those places one at a time, it would be a good excuse. "We could have a little date someday soon when I'm feeling better and visit them all one at a time if you want." She offered trying to keep the word 'date' subtle and unnoticeable as she made her cute offer to Parvati. Considering what they've been through in the time they've met after all, it wasn't really too much of a thing right?

Though the question about what Kirin would have made Korra think back, her smile softening briefly as she shook her head back. "Kirin's probably already out and looking for something to eat. He hasn't gotten to see his papa in a long time after all, he's probably out looking for his own favorites too." She explained glancing to the door knowing that the creature had been gone since they got inside. What it was looking for, Korra was never sure what it really hunted on it's own, but it was no doubt something she probably wouldn't be able to find idly wandering the woods. "He took it a lot better then I did at least." She admitted.
