Friendship is Magic

Discussion in 'Floor 5-7' started by Parvati Roshan, Nov 27, 2016.

  1. @Korra Quinn

Parvati had come down lower today, going into the fifth floor to practice her magic. Up above, monsters were a bit too easy to use it on, so she saved her strength by using her scimitar instead of magic. It saved time and effort that way and she wasn't really tired in the slightest.

The Amazoness stretched a little at the bottom of the slope that had led to the floor she was on now. It was a good long stretch, one that she thoroughly enjoyed because it meant she could still keep going. Loosening her muscles, she gazed down at the caverns of the fifth floor before making her way deeper into the floor, intent on finding some monsters.

  2. The lower floors were ones that Korra wasn't exactly meant to traverse alone, though she was certainly not well equipped or trained for direct combat to face the ants, she managed to succeed in her small job by relying on Kirin and her good luck. Since she'd encountered Hydra once more, Korra realized from her status she'd leveled up. Bri had explained it to her, and the 'luck' she gained was no doubt because of her personality. While it made her chuckle wearily, she couldn't help feeling pleased by it, anything that might help her romances blossom and protect them was welcome by her after all.

Her mission though, the one that brought her down to those floors was the small backpack that was still squirming about behind her. Occasionally there'd be a flash of blue wing or coiled tongue peaking out from her bag, but it was well restrained with the help of some leather belts. The creature within was no doubt weaker then average, frail even, much like Korra herself it was a supporter who happened upon Korra at a bad time and ended up getting bagged. This though made for a good exchange, these little blue monsters would help her earn a little bit extra on the side. Though as she began to consider packing up, she found Parvati was instead coming down. After sharing beads at least 2 times, Korra assumed there'd be little need for personal space; Instead, she tried to stretch her arms with a happy smile before trying to throw them around the other girl. "Parvati!"

Parvati couldn't help but yelp a little when Korra threw her arms around her. Her first instinct was reaching for her scimitar before her mind registered who was hugging her. She grinned. "Hello, story singer," she greeted, not really giving a hug back. She was unsure whether or not to give her a quick one or just let it be. In the end, she chose to give a quick hug.

"How fare you, story singer?" she asked once they were done hugging. Well, at least she was done hugging. She noticed, when she hugged, the squirming backpack that the bard had behind her. "And...what carry you? Does bag hold something?" She looked at the supporter curiously, waiting for an answer.

  4. Korra grinned back brightly, happily even, glad the more intimate Parvati seemed to get with their meetings, a hug was always nice in return, even if it was brief. Though she nodded back a little surprised to see her down in the dungeon once more, but everyone had to eat, she couldn't fault someone for regular dives after all. "It's nice to see you again, though we always seem to run into each other by surprise~" She tried to tease hinting that they should arrange dates instead of letting them happen by chance.

Though when asked about how she was and what she had, Korra glanced back to her ruffling bag knowing her new ride along was likely still anxious. "I caught a nice rare one from down here, I was thinking of making a little sanctuary for them above ground if I catch more. Then people can use it for healing." She explained, her expression musing. After her run in with Hydra, she realized she needed a more viable solution for injuries then getting repeatedly wrapped up by unwilling people, she considered a home, but one that was perhaps as unique as she was. "My luck's been pretty good since meeting Hydra, the experience was traumatic enough for me to level up, so I've been pretty well."

  5. @Korra Quinn

"Indeed, story singer. Chance has tied its threads on us, I believe," Parvati said as she put her scimitar in its scabbard. She didn't know why fate was making her meet Korra again and again, but she didn't mind the company at all. Though if Korra did want to meet up with her at some point, they would have to discuss the arrangements.

She tilted her head a little so she can see the backpack that held the squirming monster in its clutches. "Ah, I see," she said, "Monster good for healing, they exist? I have no knowing of it." She had to frown when Korra told her that she had leveled up from meeting Hydra and her old teacher. She wondered why it wasn't the both of them that had gotten a level up. She tried to dismiss the thought and the jealousy that went with it.

"So, I am at work with magic," she said as she crossed her arms, "I have come down here to practice. Goblins, I can fight, but waste too much mind. Kobolds, too, are boring. But maybe, perhaps, the monsters down here would make good practice, yes?" She looked at the supporter, feeling that pang of jealousy again. Her face temporarily screwed up before settling back to a neutral frown. "So, busy? What monster be with you this very moment?"

  6. Korra's smile brightened at the thought of threads being tied, it made her nod back happily, but for a different reason. "Red strings I hope." She answered with a laugh though she looked back thinking about the bag on her back knowing that her luck probably had a great deal to do with their cute coincidental meetings that kept happening.

Though when she talked about the squirming butterfly she had wrapped up, Korra nodded with a bright grin. "That's right~ Though they're usually healing monsters, they're really weak alone so I went to go get one." Korra explained thinking that she would need a few more of them to make the fun nifty sanctuary she had in mind. Though she did manage to level up meeting Hydra, it was largely because of the hid she'd taken, the thought of losing someone precious to her was her most tragic fear after all, her ultimate fear was naturally loneliness as well. Suffering to prevent that was understandably enough to help her level up.

Though hearing Parvati talk about getting stronger with magic again, Korra only giggled a little knowing that just from a glance, Parvati was so easily motivated by strengthening her magic after all. She gave a hum of thought knowing that the higher floors weren't exactly good opponents to test herself on either. "The monster I have with me now is a blue papallion; it's a butterfly." She said pointing back to the bag not wanting to open it because of it's efforts to squirm free. Though she smiled brightly thinking of how best to help Parvati before humming in question. "Wouldn't it be more helpful to try against 'more' opponents then? After all, magic is best against 'many' then it is against 'strong' right?" She tried to offer with a warm smile.

Parvati didn't get the implications of the red strings of fate, but she did listen to the supporter talk about how the monster in her bag, a blue papallion, had the power to heal others. Her brows furrowed in thought. Why was she bringing such a monster to the surface? It must have something to do with the healing aspect, maybe she wanted to make potions out of it? The Amazoness didn't know.

She frowned as Korra said that would be easier to deal with more enemies, rather than just fighting strong ones. "It fit Thunder Strike, yes," she said, "Thunder can hit others before hitting what I am focusing. But than that, I feel, is all. My spells, I find, trap my enemy before hitting." She sighed. "I have no knowing if strength is better or more is. I hear you suggest more, but I feel not get as strong with many. Perhaps I'm mistaken, nothing to worry about." She looked to Korra for her response.

  8. Korra could see Parvati's confusion for a moment, cocking her head, unaware that a portion of that might just be for the comment about red strings, but it was a custom she'd heard from her songs and travelers, not even one she was incredibly familiar with. Instead, guessing the confusion was more for her collection of the monster and her sanctuary intentions, Korra's grin widened. "If I can collect a lot of them, then people would be able to get healed just by being around them. Who knows-- if it gets popular, I might try my hand at taming monsters even." Korra mused at the thought about being a tamer. Though she knew that wasn't a project that should be taken lightly since even her teacher's monsters required fierce and violent training before they could be used if there was no magical bond.

Though hearing Parvati talking about 'getting stronger' Korra furrowed her brows in thought cocking her head. Trying to hang her arms over Parvati's shoulders to lean against her she spoke with a musing tone. "Ooh-- You mean for making your magic actually 'stronger' or learning how to use it 'strongly'?" She asked, as if she was confused by Parvati's goal. Thinking Parvati might be more confused by her question though, she giggled back trying to explain before Parvati got too confused. "Like practicing to be more efficient and practicing to hit harder-- they're different right? Against strong things you can try to hit harder, but against a lot of things you learn how to bring down more of them with a single shot." She explained making a cute sound effect as if she were firing off a spell.

"Is that so? Heal for others?" Parvati asked as she glanced at the bag Korra was carrying again. She found it to be a pretty noble goal, all in all. "Where do you put it? Do you have someplace to set free with some restraint? I do not think people would like monsters running around the city, after all..." Considering the monster's size, it would probably need to be a big place. But she had only seen Korra outside and she made it quite clear that she loved staying outdoors. If that was the case, where was she going to put it? It wasn't like the monster would follow her every move or something.

The Amazoness was confused by the bard's initial question, but after she explained, she understood it somewhat. "Hit harder, no. Efficient, yes." She sighed. "Can see why more monsters is good, but I fear to tire quickly. But who knows, perhaps I can handle such things now." Her hand brushed against the hilt of her scimitar as she looked at the supporter, her shoulders slumped. It was clear that the more experienced of the two had won her over. "Perhaps I can come with you back? Would you not mind that?"

  10. Korra nodded back in answer to Parvati's question, though it was indeed to help heal others, there were naturally ulterior motives as well. A sweet smile painted Korra's face as she began to explain. "That's right~ Also to give Kirin a nice place to hang around when I don't need him though-- That way I don't have to keep wasting energy summoning him." She said knowing that casting that spell almost daily was the reason she needed a nap mid-way through the day. Though when asked about where she'd put it, Korra wore a musing expression at the thought. "Mm, I'm not sure yet, for now I thought of just tying a rope around it and tying the other end to Kirin and having it lead it around for now. After all, this thing has no real combat ability to break free, it would only try to escape and struggle cutely like it is now." She explained with a soft giggle, though she knew that was only a temporary solution. "I was thinking about maybe a large green house-like sanctuary, that way I could live outside even inside mm?" She explained thinking she was being cute and clever.

Though hearing Parvati talk about getting exhausted by numbers, Korra shook her head musing, knowing that there was still a little disconnection between what Korra was talking about and what Parvati felt. "Mm, not casting it a lot to kill a lot silly. How to explain-- The importance of combat magic-- your kind of magic, is in the ability to try and hit lots of things at once with one spell." She explained with a happy smile. "Like with the fire walls trapping a bunch of goblins inside instead of just one, or your lightning you used against Hydra, striking lots of monsters instead of just one." She explained with a few hand gestures to help her.

The Amazoness couldn't help but snort at the image of the bug being tied to Kirin for a good part of the time. Then she imagined a bunch of giant butterflies making Kirin fly and she became somewhat disturbed by the funny imagery. Better stop thinking about it. Parvati crossed her arms, a thoughtful look on her face. "Maybe, perhaps, you can buy a place with the money you have?" she suggested, "Big green area, perhaps with little clearing somewhere?" She nodded in response to the green house sanctuary. "Perhaps make tourist attraction out of it, blue butterflies flying all around," she chuckled, "Though money you do not care for."

She hummed in thought as she listened to Korra's explanation of how she could strengthen her magic. Her magic, hitting multiple enemies? That would certainly make her spells more useful. Her mind went back to the battle with Hydra and how she had to focus her lightning on the individual head, rather than the whole body. She wouldn't mind practicing that more, as long as it wasn't against the beast. "Hnn, I see," she said, closing her eyes and frowning. She remained like that for a few moments before opening her eyes. "Multiples, I can try. Perhaps make me stronger than before, I do not know." Her eyes locked onto the supporter's. "Perhaps you can teach me something?"

  12. Korra nodded a little at Parvati's words, they were more or less her plan, though the amusing imagery of Kirin walking around with blue butterflies tied to it's body was more or less what Korra had planned. The bugs that had no combat power wouldn't really be capable of deterring the steed that was as strong as her magic in combat so she felt that the only downside was the possible risk of the creatures being caught in the cross fire. "That's what I was thinking, then I could live in there and it would be warm year round, maybe with a bed so I could still be 'outside' but be 'inside'." She mused, teasing with a mellow smile knowing that her desires and ambitions were silly and almost non-nonsensical. The things she wanted in life or desired were always so simple and amusing.

Hearing Parvati talking about being taught something though, Korra flashed a warm and bright smile as she leaned forward trying to turn Parvati around so she could press her soft chest against the Amazon woman's back as she spoke. "Like this--" She started reaching her hands around Parvati to try and describe her intentions with hand gestures before Parvati's eyes so she would be able to understand. "Your lightning strikes around things before hitting what you're aiming for right? But even though the directions are fixed, is how far from the center fixed? Also, when you use your fire magic, it makes a little cage like this that follows things right? Then if you use it in the center of a lot of monsters and it runs around a lot, wouldn't it burn down the whole group by washing them with the fire?" She tried to explain with a sweet grin.

  13. @Korra Quinn

Parvati could understand that. A warm place to sleep all year round was always nice. She knew that the outside didn't offer such things, but she wasn't going to gripe to Korra over that fact. They almost lived in two separate worlds in that regard, only linked together by her desire to cast and practice magic and Korra's intentions, whatever they were.

The Amazoness blinked in surprise at the sudden gesture before she began to look at the bard's hands and listen intently to her words. Her eyes were shining with interest as she talked and she would nod every so often to indicate she was listening. "Hm, expanding? Opposite of closing target?" she mused, "Have not done yet, perhaps will try. ...No, will definitely try. I want to be stronger in magics." She had to grudgingly admit that she was very closed minded when it came to using her magic. She wouldn't have figured out how to utilize it if it weren't for the bard. "Is your magic such as that?" she asked, trying to look at Korra.
