  1. Yama's Bar

    History

For many years, Yama has lived on Earth. His time upon Earth he learned that mortals of all races were incredibly intolerable to the liquid known as alcohol. Their taste buds would pruned and their noses would turn for some, but they drank for effect(in most cases). As he spent time in taverns, he learned a great deal about human life as he was told stories and witnessed events that he didn't believe he would ever bare witness to. These things seemed to inspire him a great bit.

His inspiration soon lead to a dream, which soon became a goal. It dwindled down until he finally accomplished opening a bar of his own. The name was simple, "Yama's Bar." The bar thrived the first few months that is was open, adventurers and Gods alike came to rejoice in the good. While some came to drown their sorrows. Nonetheless, his door was always open from noon to the early morning.

At the time, Yama had five members within his Familia. They aided him in the upkeep of the establishment: bussing tables, washing dishes, serving food and drinks, and maintaining a welcoming composure. Most importantly, Yama ordered that the members were to listen when someone spoke, no matter how long the slack of their job would be picked up by someone else. Thus, it led to the members of his Familia growing an open mind, though it was a deep burden to carry. The joyous stories of some uplifted them and inspired them to do better, while others seemed to drag them so far into the slumps they eventually would all quit and disband from his Familia.

Thus, business would come to a slow as service was lousy. Though, stragglers came in from time to time to speak with the God who always kept an open ear and an open heart. He'd listen whether or not it was interesting, somethings wouldn't require him to speak while others would be conversation that led into the morning.

It wasn't but three months ago that Yama's Bar came to a close, bringing Yama, himself, a great sorrow. Though, he vowed to open it once more.

    Description

As depicted above, the bar has a rather formal and professional look to it. Everything within the bar is of highest quality, including the drinks. A large assortment of fine wines line the wall behind the counter, mugs and glasses distributed beneath traveling around the entirety of the bar's counter. Ten seats lined with a maroon silk, from his country, sit before the bar that is draped in a dark stained wood. The assortment of light fixtures in the bar create a rather classy look, complimenting the dark theme of the tavern. Tables are strung all about the bar, with basic dark wooden chairs. The space is not as large as some taverns, but it's just enough to have a good time.

    Guidelines

So this bar is the bar that Yama once had.
    Things you can do here:

    • Come in and have a drink/food, chat with Yama about your past strife's or good times.
    • Come in and have a drink/food, dwell on past events in your character's life(good for people trying to develop their histories) and not talk to Yama.
    • Tag people in a post and enjoy a small social session based in the past(create prior relationships)
    • Or anything else creative that comes to mind
    Rules

    • If you wish to talk with Yama please tag by typing @Yanluowang, it should pop up as you're typing it.
    • NO FIGHTING IN MY DAMN BAR. If a fight does break out, you will be kicked out from the bar until your next visit. You can start a thread once you have been kicked out if you so choose to do so. Do not damage the outside of his establishment unless you wish to actually pay Yama for damage.
    • This thread may break off into a new thread in the past, if it does please link the thread that it leads to at the bottom of your latest post.
    • To keep the thread organized please use the title tags to give your posts a title. All responses should match the title that is set so that a linear look can be set and confusion will last. If you're unsure of what I'm talking about ask in the cBox.
    • You must state the time in relativity to the site's current structure. (IE. One year ago, Summer) You may do so by adding it as the title instead of something else or using the border tags below your title to input it. Up to you.
    • The furthest this can go back is eight years ago. The nearest this can go back is Summer of this year.

Nestled between the contents of an empty barrel was a child of a young age, it was a mystery to why she was there to the person whom made a commotion upon discovery of the girl, whom would slowly grow to flutter her eyes open at the sight of harsh light. She wasn’t as fearless as she was in the present, perhaps a little timid as her eyes widened at the sight of others with teeth chattering at the moment, glancing towards the strangers. “There’s a child sleeping in a barrel in the storage.” a man would call out, alerting his superiors to the child’s whereabouts. But as for her, she would be utterly confused as to her they were the ones completely foreign to her. Until she realize as she rose from her state, that it wasn’t the place that she had normally slept. No, this wasn’t the bar that she had grown used to.

How did this happen, how did she come here. Then with a flashback it all came clear. It was that moment she first attempted to try booze, perhaps she left home and came here thinking it was her place to be. And so the girl just stared in silence, perhaps slight fright, awaiting slowly for what would come next.

The bar had come to a close, it had been a fairly busy night, but Yama had seen much better. Though, he couldn't complain gold was gold, and drinks were sold. So he was happy with the outcome of the night. Majority of the lights within the tavern were turned off, leaving just enough lighting for Familia remaining inside to see what they were doing. At the moment, Yama was cleaning a mug with a wet rag, that last of the many that had already been washed. He hummed a silent ballad to himself, his eyes were feint with fatigue from the long day's work. A smirk rested upon his face, which was something that wasn't too entirely typical for the God.

Some chatter could be heard in the back, though Yama didn't pay much mind to it at first. As he continued on with his over polishing of a wooden mug lost in the fatigue and work ethic he had, a body emerged from the doorway of the storage the solid step of a halt drew his attention. "Hm?" He'd hum at his young child. "Something the matter, child?"

"U-uhm... Yama-senpai. There's... well..." Yama sucked his teeth annoyed, walking into the storage that seemed to be now occupied by his entire Familia, the child of his Familia drew to the side as he passed by. "Y-yama-sama!" The girl shouted, knowing that he wasn't going to like what he saw. The others of the Familia stood around the empty barrel signalling where the issue was.

"What is it a rodent? I told you all that if you see a rodent to ki--" His words were drawn short before he caught a glimpse of the girl that was within the empty container. Jumping back in shock, the rodent seemed to be much bigger than he anticipated. A rather animated look of surprise was upon his face as his jaw stretched down to his abdomen. "E-e-eh! When did that get there!?" He exclaimed, pointing to the barrel his children bursting into laughter.

He brought himself back to, straightening his formal attire. Clearing his throat, he proceeded back to the barrel. Reaching his hand down, he'd try to grab the collar of the girl and pull her up from the barrel. He'd bring the girl inches from his face, a mundane expression rested on the surface of his visage. "Welcome to Yama's Bar!" He'd shout, his face raising with glee as he extended his arms, the girl likely still attached to his hand. His Familia simultaneously letting out a sigh of relief.

The moment was quite frightening, being surrounded by several people whom were unknown to her. Most of them were staring back at her with an expression not much calmer than her own, before another voice made itself known. The footsteps grew close at a fast pace, until a shout, a bit of a yelp almost made her heart race. Then out came laughter, leaving the girl both shocked and bewildered, but once again a bit shaken as he came closer. Hand inched closer, it pulled her up and in, before she was witness to a rather loud greeting, both cheery and brim. “Yama’s bar?” The name did ring a bell, but not of anything she could possibly remember. But that was always the case as her head was generally always in the clouds unless it came to anything oriented around adventure.

The child’s elven ear twitched, as she was at a loss of words. Just who was this man, why did her possess such a set of terrifying eyes. Was he one of those creatures she heard about in stories from the dwarves, dragons and demons? It was bad luck that she didn’t even seem to have her trusty stick with her to tussle with his foe, though she was unsure whether she would be capable to uphold her own against such a legendary beast. Shian teeth chattering would come to let out, “D-don’t eat me, my body taste like dirt and muck.” It was the only thing that she think to let out, her arms and legs lightly wiggled as she dangled in the air. “A-and if you do eat me, all of my friends at my bar will b-beat you up.” A false taunt, aiming to intimidate the older male, as she gave a little pleading look to the others located around whom didn’t look anywhere as intimidating as he did.

This girl was rather odd. Quite still to be honest, as well. He didn't really understand as to how she got into the barrel in the first place, but that wasn't something to dwell on. Though his Familia seemed to think differently as they queried it among themselves looking one another until the girl began react finally. Pleading to not consume her as she wasn't all too tasty, which he had to agree with the girl didn't smell too pleasant. Though, not many adventurers do. Yama raised a brow, a couple of the others held in their laughter. Her threats were rather pitiful.

Raising a hand to guard his mouth's crack from the humorous disposition of the pointy-eared girl. He wished to approach this a bit more differently, turning his head to his Familia behind them giving them a wink a small smirk. He turned back to the girl reeling her in close to him once again, a grim smile approached his face. "Your friends at your bar? Where are they now?" He questioned as he moistened his lips with the tip of his tongue, biting his bottom bottom lip as the muscle retreated back into his mouth. "I don't see them anywhere? This so happens to be my bar, after all." His words lingered with a chilling sense, he'd shift his body around looking for her friends before bring her outside of the storage room. He'd extend his arm out in front of him panning her from left to right by the collar, "Do you see them? Go get them for me, maybe I can feast on them and save you for last." He asked again before releasing his grip from her garb, a maniacal chuckle releasing from his lips. It was all a game to the God of the Underworld, he'd probably feel bad about it later.

Leonidas had not been in Orario long, perhaps a couple of days at most. He had avoided the dungeon, it was a purported place of danger. Eventually he may delve into its mysteries but not for the time being. The hulking but not so hulking dwarf pushed his way into a fine establishment after a hard day's work. The place had that fancy smell, that fancy sight and an air of credibility. It was almost too posh for Leon but he shrugged it off and ambled further in. Anything was different than places back in his homeland so he needed to give everyone and everyplace a chance.

Leon the dwarf was garbed in an assortment of leathers and furs, in a more comfortable fashion rather than battle-ready. The vest he wore left his trunk-like arms bare, so as to show off his impressive muscles. He might be short of stature but he was big. Redbeard, as some called him for his same hued hair and beard, made his way to one of the tall seats at the bar. The joke basically writes itself, but Leon wasn't having any of it and turned around before leaping his rump up into a seat. Would of been more impressive had he done a backflip first but he worked with what he had.

"Ahh, barkeep! A tankard of brown ale, if you please." He rumbled aloud in his deep and gravelly voice, while scooting around to face forward. He had laid one of his arms onto the counter top and the other's hand was raised to stroke his trimmed beard while he looked around idly.

Ah, yes. A rather victorious time of the year for the establishment was around this time in summer. People seemed to grow quite a thirst starting at midday and they'd continuously pour in until the doors were shut, even then Yama didn't mind serving to one or two people while everyone cleaned up. It seemed the Familia was hard at work, earning their keep at his side and within his home. Though, he had to work as well, but it was something that he loved to do. He got to dress dapper and clean and ladies boggled at him, seducing him with their eyes from across the bar. He never let it get to his head, even in the midst of being considered Orario's "top-rated" tavern/bar for a good running while. Yama just enjoyed the company and getting to meet and learn about new people every day. It brought a warmth to him that has inevitably changed him, and countless others that have been in his familia, for the better.

He stood at the bar, it was rather bustling among the establishment at the moment. Yama flipped and turned mugs a determined look to serve everyone was upon his visage, so much so it curled his brow. Demands reached out from every which way as adventurers came in one by one asking for service. Though, there was one dwarf in particular that seemed to break through the mist of lowly orders. His voice carried into Yama's ears causing him to splash a small amount of ale to the ground, his help quickly cleaning it up. His brow would uncurl as he sent a pleasant smile in the direction of his esteemed child. "Thank you." He'd state as he poured the brown ale into the wooden mug.

He came about sliding the beverage in front of the burly dwarf across the counter. "Ah, what a strong voice you have. Tell me, adventurer, what brings you to this toxic substance on this late day? Something you wish to talk about?" He felt the need to ask him in particular as dwarfs were typically rather valiant within the dungeons had good stories to tell, he was highly interested in what the red-beard had to say.
