  1. Malaeroth Rivvikyn

    profile
Alias: Mal; Bard; Halfbreed; Other various names.
    Race: Half-Elf
    Age: 26
    Sex: Male

Sexuality: Heterosexual, although some may question this due to a few same-sex ass slaps and flirtatious comments. But Mal just likes to enjoy himself and say inappropriate things.
    Relationship: Besides himself, none.

Mal’s heritage was that of a fair elf and a dark-skinned human, giving him a complexion that makes him look tan even in winter. Despite his skin color, his blond hair, amber colored eyes, and pointy ears make it hard to confuse what sort of half-human he really is. Mal’s build is slender but athletic, as his body is riddled with lean muscular definition. His attire is normally casual, and his stride is usually one of a man who is self-confident. A tattoo adorns the left side of his face; three reddish curving lines that change in shape as they move from his eye to his ear. This style of tattoo continues down the right side of his shoulder to his lower back, but is usually hidden by his clothes.

    Height: 5’10”
    Build: Slender; Athletic

    Personality

Mal is the sort of person that is friendly to everyone—he is a bard, of course. He’ll play you a song, sit and drink with you, and usually have something witty to say about one of the patrons in the tavern. He’s not one to shy away from a conversation, and due to his lack of strength, would much rather talk his way out of situations than try to punch through them. Mal enjoys adventures too, and will oftentimes volunteer to help someone out in the dungeon or elsewhere. Those who don’t truly know him see Mal as the sort of person they can become fast friends with—someone they can trust.

And those who truly know Mal can see through that veil of niceties. By nature, Mal exaggerates the truth, either through song or story—that’s just part of the job as a bard. He can be rude when he doesn’t appreciate how the situation is unfolding for him, and he can be selfish when he wants to be, especially when it comes to money and expensive items. For as much as he enjoys adventuring, if it doesn’t seem like he’s going to get a decent payout, he’s going to act extremely slothful and find little to no motivation helping someone out.

A lot of times, Mal can exist between these two personality ranges as he finds himself unable to be a single version of himself—sometimes he’s friendly but rude, and other times he’s diplomatic but boastful. His personality just depends on his mood and the situation at hand. But generally speaking, he’s a good person—he never physically or emotionally hurts the young or the elderly, and when he sees situations that remind him of his mother or how he takes care of her, he can become uncharacteristically generous and kind. He might cover up his generosity and kindness by being an ass about it afterward, but his actions on the whole are never evil or meant to cause pain.

Positive: Adventurous, Diplomatic, Gregarious, Humorous, Quick-Witted
Negative: Boastful, Crass, Lazy, Materialistic, Self-Indulgent

    Biography

Born Malaeroth Rivvikyn, his father was an adventurous elf who was down on his luck, while his mother was a widow who was trying to make ends meet after her husband died. One thing led to another, and by accident, Mal was born. Not realizing that his mother was pregnant, his father found fortune elsewhere and left while his mother raised him. Being that she was always working, Mal ended up getting into trouble in his youth, but always seemed to be lucky enough to get out of things unscathed.

As he became older, his mother fell ill and was unable to earn a decent income. Being that Mal had never really had an honest job in his life, he turned a bit more into his mischievous ways, but also realized he had a talent for playing the fiddle. Gaining access to many taverns and inns with his musical skills, Mal was able to make enough money to support his mother and to blow the rest of it on stupid stuff like booze and boobs.

When he became old enough, he decided to try his hand at dungeoneering, and found out that he wasn’t half bad. He wasn’t anywhere close to being strong enough to swing a sword appropriately, but firing a bow was second nature because of his dexterity with the fiddle. He even realized at one point, while being trapped by creatures in one of the dungeons, that his fiddle had a magical compontent—he could distract these creatures and make them easy targets.

So he tries to make money wherever he goes; as soon as he has enough for his mother, he becomes idiotic and blows the rest. He’s known to most as a bard and a supporter, but also as a drunk and a gambler as well.

    Status

    Familia: None

Occupation: Adventurer; Supporter; Bard; Gambler; Possible mischievous other occupations
    Archetype: Magic

    Floor Achieved: 1
    Current Level: 1

    Strength: I - 010
    Vitality: I - 030
    Dexterity: I - 050
    Agility: I - 050
    Magic: I - 060

    Skill:
    • Beginner’s Luck: [active, utility] Mal is able to perform trained actions while being untrained in said actions through improvisation and sheer luck. The more he tries to perform these actions, the worse his chances get of successfully completing them. Although the crazier the action, the higher the chance to succeed. Hitting a small, moving target with a ranged weapon? A fair success rate at an untrained trickshot. Hitting an extremely minuscule target moving in different directions while he's on horseback and blindfolded? An even higher success rate. It's also possible that Mal is unable to activate this skill due to not wanting to succeed at whatever he's trying to do, either on a conscious or subconscious level.

    Magic:
    • Bardic Melody – Fanatical Fiddler Fascination: [arcane, area-effect, disrupt, medium chant] A song that is comprised mainly of an instrument (fiddle) but also with some verbal components. Playing the song counts as the initial chant, but continuous play afterward only counts as a short chant. Some creatures will become dazed and be unable to attack, while others will partially be affected, with a few resisting entirely. And due to the nature of playing an instrument, Mal is permitted to move his arms and walk no faster than a casual pace. The drawbacks of such a spell is that despite however long the song is played, it will never become stronger than its original incantation, and requires a constant funneling of mind and focus to perform.

    Equipment

    Weapons:
    • Longbow: With a frayed string and sizable gashes in the wood, this bow has seen better days. But it’s functional.
    • Quiver of Arrows: It’s possible that a blind man made some of these arrows, but amazingly enough, most of them fly true.
    • Throwing Knives: These knives used to be colored, showing a few flecks of red and black, but most of that has been worn off over time. Still, the knives are balanced and sharp enough to be useful in combat.

    Armors:
    • Leather Worn, and not in a stylish way, this leather armor barely passes for armor.

    Property:
    • Fiddle: Probably the one item that is actually of a decent quality among the other crap pieces of equipment that Mal has.

    Played by King

    Posting Pace: Every other day
    Comfortable Post Length: 200-600 words
    Face-claim: Zevran from Dragon Age
