Cooking/Alchemy Recipe Suggestion
When making a meal/potion using the [Alchemist Kit]/[Cooking Utensil] + [Effect: X], perhaps make success chance of learning that recipe based on a roll? Would add some dynamics to the crafting.
e.g. I want to make and sell a meal that gives... Fire resistance. I don't have this recipe yet, so if I learn it, it will be 'Common' quality.
I must roll 50+ to learn a 'Common' quality dish/potion.
1d100 roll + 5 bonus from mastery rank (beginner = 5*0 up to illustrious = 5*7).
If I succeed on the roll, I have 'learned' that dish and can make it whenever without having to roll. Failing on a roll can just result in a trash 'Burnt Food' or 'Useless Potion' item.
The learned recipe would go into their 'recipe' book.
Izzy wants to learn how to make a meal that buffs Fire Resistance (Effect: Defensive). She must roll a 50 or higher to successfully create and learn the recipe.
She has both [Cooking Utensil] and [Effect: Defensive] purchased. Luckily, her cooking is
Trained (2) trained so she will get an additional (5*2) bonus!
FAILED:
Izzy rolls one 100-sided die. She gets 29.
29 + (5*2) = 39.
Izzy gets a Burnt Food item in her inventory. Better luck next time!
SUCCESS:
Izzy rolls one 100-sided die. She gets 58.
58 + (5*2) = 68.
Izzy learned Food: Fire Resistance Recipe and gets a Food: Fire Resistance in her inventory. Congrats!
To learn the 'upgraded' version, you have to learn the lower rank one first. Learning 'upgrades'* to the recipes could be done via a new roll, but each grade up has a higher goal that you must beat. So.
Common = 50+ roll.
Uncommon = 60+ roll.
Rare = 75+ roll.
Exotic = 90+ roll.
Epic = 95+ roll.
*Possible upgrades being: reduced material cost, better buffs, longer durations, etc.?
Ideally, the [Effect]s can still be sold in shops, while allowing more specialization and utilization of the cooking/alchemy mastery. So once you purchase [Effect: Offensive] you can experiment to make various potions/meals - so long as they provide offensive buffs. Would give more variety in player-run shops. ;)
