With over half of the plots now cleared, the light at the end of the tunnel was slowly coming into view. Regardless of whether Jack had found the object he sought, one thing was for sure. He’d come out of it transformed. As for whether the change was an improvement or not… only time could tell. Perhaps it was his pride as a gamer that solidified even further? Now that his mettle had been tested and tempered, he’d find himself at a whole new level of clarity, one which gave him a better understanding of his surroundings, an ability to adapt, and a patience to match the trials that he’d have to endure.

The man’s hands continued to mull through the next plot as he contemplated such. Now that he thought about it more carefully, he had heard of something like this before. It was a precious moment of epiphany, similar to what other gamers had posted online with regards to their experiences surrounding the title “Dark Souls.” The game was infamous for its high difficulty level and often times, many had gone online to talk about their life changing experiences.

“Almost there…” He’d begin panting softly out of sheer physical exhaustion while continuing his search.

It was a curious thing now that Jack had paused for a moment to take a breather. Out in the corner of his eye he had spotted a young girl searching with the assistance of her young pup. If he had heard correctly, Terry was the creature’s name? Or perhaps it was Jerry. Hell, given the current mental state of the magician, it coulda been Paul for all he knew. He did eye her a bit enviously though as he watched the two continue frolicking through the grass. Perhaps his search would already be over if he too had an animal companion of his own?

He’d bite his lip and lower his head back into the field however as he’d shuffle over to the next plot of grass with a bit of remorse. He had seen the option to pick beast taming at during the character screen. The man had dismissed it quickly however, choosing more secure options. After all, he had been warned of the game’s realism. Were he to find an actual animal companion, would he have to worry about feeding it and handling its waste products? It was a bit of a commitment for the man since he played primarily to escape reality. The last thing he needed to do was clean up after an animal while trying to unwind. “Maybe this plot of grass will be luckier than the last? Bah! Who am I kidding?”

The number of patches of the tall grass hacked away by others users shocked Nalani. It was obvious that the shard hidden somewhere in one of the various areas was valuable, and a small push from Alpha that was more like a shrug, she found herself standing amidst the chaos, watching the others with rather wide eyes before turning her attention to the returning ones. She was a little worried about the knolls and the fact that they might be hacking up their territory, but hey, what the heck- She'd deal with it if it came to that.

So, setting her attention on a particular patch of grass that was closer to the middle of the group, she ripped away at it with whatever strength she had, wiping away some sweat that began to form on her brow. She honestly doubted that she would find the prism, but giving this little 'game' a chance was a good thing to do, both to pass time and to show that she was making some kind of effort. It wasn't like the Felis had that much luck, but maybe, just maybe, she would find something. Half of her wanted to move on to another patch of grass once she chopped away this one, but with the rate at which they were disappearing by, would she even be able to reach on in time?​
