A moment of silence passed as the awkward realization passed that this wasn’t technically the first time the two had crossed paths. Shifting uncomfortably in position, the man couldn’t help but cringe at the thoughts fleeting through his mind with alarming alacrity. Insert foot into mouth… she probably hates me now. Greaat… Between her nervous fidgeting and the shifting eyebrow, there wasn’t really any other way to interpret it, right? Thankfully nature had opted to distract the pair from their dissonance. With a large ball of fur tumbling out from the tall grasses, the man’s frozen expression quickly thawed into a warm smile. Despite the terrified look upon its face, the creature was rather adorable to say the least. As for what drove it to flee in terror however… Quickly realizing that he had let his guard down, Jack nodded at Nalani’s words with understanding. "Got it." His hands reaching quickly for his magical foci, he’d keep himself at the ready while sending darting glances between the lynx, the Felis and the tall brush. Though she wouldn’t notice, his eyes did seem to stray a bit longer on the woman when compared to the other two entities. Could he be blamed? She was rather gorgeous to say the least. There was a certain charm about her that he couldn’t quite put his finger on. Is this how people tame animals? Shoot, why the hell am I jealous of a lynx right now? As for now? He’d remain silent while watching the two interact. His weapons were at the ready should anything interrupt the other two and their bonding time. @Nalani Rosa
The lynx seemed hesitant as it stared at the girl in front of her, glancing back every now and then as if terrified for what was to come. However, as Nalani continued talking gently to the creature, she seemed to calm down slightly, taking one step forward at a time, ears perking up at her as she did so, "Come on... Yah, that's it." Nalani coaxed carefully, moving back onto her knees as the creature got closer. Whenever she forward, the lynx seemed to shoot back, but bit by bit, her hand slowly reached out towards the creature, totally clocking out from the world around her as she focused on the objective at hand, Just a little bit more... However, just as the taming interaction was coming to completion, the creature that was chasing the lynx in the first place suddenly came rolling out with a round of loud rustles, growling loudly. It appeared to be a wolf, much larger than the little lynx and not hungry, but just plain angry. As it looked around at the three of them, huffing heavily with foam dripping out of the sides of its jaw and eyes bloodshot, it seemed to be taken off guard by the sudden appearance of other beings. However, it soon locked eyes with the lynx, who had ducked behind Nalani with fear once the wolf came crashing out of the grass. Nalani slowly raised down from her kneeling to her feet, expression monotone but if not a bit scared, not looking over at Jack as she kept her eyes on the wolf. When she stood she stayed still, except for the small bit of trembling she couldn't control. Up until now, she had tried to avoid creatures like this in the game. She rather not, well... Die However, something inside her was telling her how to handle the situation with the animal, how to deal, "Stay still... Make even the smallest movement, and it'll atta-" Unfortunately, as soon as Nalani spoke, the lynx she had been trying to protect turned and proceeded to make a run for it, cuing the wolf into action as it too took off, shoving past Nalani and pouncing onto the slower creature. Keeping her footing as she stumbled only a little bit, Nalani brought back her wand and mumbled a basic attack, just strong enough to do some damage and knock the wolf off the lynx. However, as it's only slightly damaged health bar dropped more and it got back to its feet, it turned and directed its gaze onto the Felis as the aggro turned to her. Fortunately it didn't seem to be too strong of a creature, just enraged by some kind of video game mechanic- Probably. @Jack Anders
Although a bit anxious at what else could be lying in the brush, Jack’s eyes found themselves being inevitably drawn towards the girl and her lynx. Though he had attempted to focus as best as he could, the man found his gaze had been inexplicably drawn back towards the pair. This lapse of mental focus however was the precise moment needed by the foe lurking over yonder. Without warning, a snarling wolf appeared from the tall grass as it dashed off after its prey. Despite the lynx having fled for safety, its hunter caught up almost immediately. Still stuck in his stupor, Jack’s gaze was quickly shaken by a purple bolt of energy that had been sent crashing into the canine’s torso. The creature’s attention now focused on Nalani instead, it would instead charge towards the woman with a renewed fury from being denied access to its fur ball play thing. Refusing to get caught off guard a second time, the support frantically racked his brain for a solution while stepping forth to intervene on the charge. Judging from the creature’s speed however, it didn’t appear as though Jack would make in time. Instead, the dark haired man would let out a roar of his own while fiercely hurling the lantern in hand. “FUCK OFF, PUP!!!” His aim striking true, the large enchanted lantern would be sent crashing directly into the wolf’s skull with a large resounding bang as metal met with bone. Though his methods were a bit crude, it was the best option available. Still not fully familiar with his various incantations and left without the time to cast through the game’s interface, the best course of action was to simply rely on brute physical force. In all honesty, the man was mildly cheesed at the canine too for interrupting the kittens and their bonding time. Hopefully it wouldn’t result in anything detrimental as far as the taming process was concerned. After landing the blow, Jack would charge forth to put himself between the two combatants. A fleeting glance was sent back to the woman as he questioned her briefly. “You alright there?” @Nalani Rosa
