  1. Dempsey waited at the in, and talked herself out of ordering a drink on more than one occasion. she's only been there for about twenty minutes, but waiting patiently wasn't her thing. Shed taken a quest with another stranger to explore a massive rabbit hole back behind the inn, and was simply waiting for the other to arrive so they could set off. Doing her best to pretend she wast just fidgeting at this point, she stood, adjusted her chest-piece in a few places, checked over her equipment again and then started pacing the room slowly.

It seemed like an easy enough job. Go down a hole, see what's what, probably kill a few things, and get paid. Maybe there would be giant rabbits too, and she could have giant rabbit for dinner. That would be a nice upside to crawling around underground all afternoon. She gave into temptation and ordered enough ale to fill her water skin, promising herself that she'd only have a sip or two while she waited, and she'd save the rest for later. Just to have something just in case.

  2. It was Jake's first day playing, and already Rosalie was getting a request to join someone named "Dempsey" on a quest. She was grateful just to know there was some bit of civilization nearby- and something she could focus on besides all the sensations she was feeling in this new world, with this new body. Arriving at the front doors of the tavern, she hesitated a bit, trying to gather her composure, before stepping inside.

It wasn't long before, thanks to the HUD, she spotted the one who'd sent the request- a well-muscled cat-woman (or "Felis" as the game called them). "Dempsey? I wasn't expecting- er, I mean-" Great, she was already blowing it. She had to take this a bit more carefully. What would Rosalie really say? "...Good day, uh... milady." she said, starting over as she took a seat beside the Felis. Still sounded a bit like she wasn't sure Dempsey was a lady. Which, admittedly, she couldn't actually be sure of, but still! "I'm Rosalie. I got your message." Better.

  3. Dempsey hops off her bar stool and offers a handshake

"Glad you're finally here. I've been waiting a bit. Can't say I've ever been called a M'lady before. How are you? Ready to do this?"

she bounced on her toes energetically a few times and grinned as she looked the newcomer over. Cute, but kind of scrawny, and she didn't look like the stab first, think later type that she usually enjoyed teaming up with.

"So tell me about your character! Are you a healer? You just have that kind of vibe. I'm an unarmed specialist fighter."

Again she stayed true to her usual game plan of not telling the whole truth, but it had served her well thus far, and she decided to stick with it for now.

  4. Rosalie stood to accept Dempsey's handshake. She seemed a real confident sort- reminding Rosalie a lot of her real self. "Yeah, I'm ready," she answered, feeling energized by the Felis' enthusiasm. She did think Rosalie was a healer, which she didn't quite know how to take at the moment. Who knows, she might end up being one in the future.

"No, sorry. I went with polearms. Cultivation and music too. I guess you can call me the farmer's daughter!" She laughed, and the sound of it caught her a bit off guard. It was a really nice laugh, she thought. "I wasn't really planning to concentrate on fighting. But I figure I shouldn't just ignore anything I stumble upon that might be trouble. And a big hole underneath a tavern is trouble waiting to happen."

  5. "Well, Rose... Looks like we have big dirty bunny hole to explore! Lets do this"

She makes her way to the door hurriedly, partially because she's stoked to get going, and also to hide the slight red flush in her cheeks. Her whole "bunny hole" remark could easily be misinterpreted.

In the blink of an eye, she is out back behind the tavern and climbing down into the hole.

((and that is how you shitpost))

  6. Rosalie followed Dempsey out of the tavern, trying to avoid making any comment about her joke. The rabbit hole is hard to miss with Dempsey climbing past the obscuring bush and down into it. It then occurred to her that she was currently a girl in a blue-and-white dress following a white animal-person down said hole. "I'm a bit old to be playing Alice, don't you think?" she commented, making her way down towards whatever "wonderland" awaited them.

  7. Upon descending into the hole, your visuals distort slightly as the fabric between space and time warp. Given a second or so, your sight clears as a dimly lit room comes into view. The walls are scattered with various shelves lined with books and a single oil lamp can be seen on the opposite side of the room. Sitting next to that lamp in a rather comfy looking chair appears to be an oversized, thin and gaunt looking bunny dressed in what appears to be a purple tuxedo. (It’s statute mirrors most closely to those of the fae race.) Upon further inspection, there appears to be a door situated behind the sole chair in the room.

The creature pauses mid page flip of the tome it’s currently browsing, only to look up at the pair with a glint of surprise in his eyes. “Wonderful! Oh how wonderful. It’s been years since I’ve had some proper guests. Please forgive the mess. In all honesty, I wasn’t expecting any visitors – not that I’ve got an adequate amount of furnishings for the two of you anyway.”

The strange figure shuffles over and raises a paw to eagerly shake both of your hands with an uncanny vigor. His nose twitches with pleasure as it wriggles uncontrollably. That said, despite his desperate appearance, it appears as though a surprising bit of strength still remains in this old hare’s bones.

“Well? To what reason do I owe such a lovely visit from you two beauties? I’d love to offer you some crumpets, but I’m afraid the tin’s been empty since last year…” The creature’s stomach rumbles uncontrollably after this last sentence as he clutches his gut with an embarrassed expression.

  8. She stops dead in her tracks. She was prepared for a lot of things, but this just wasn't one of them. She quickly scans the room, just to make sure she isn't surrounded by two headed lions or anything of the like, then turns to address the anthropomorphic with a neutral expression.

"We were actually just down here exploring. You see, the terminus of the hole we came down is right behind a tavern in a fairly crowded city, and some folk wanted to pay us to see what all is going on down here. i'm glad it's not as dangerous as they all suspected, but there was talk of strange noises, and dark magic. I apologize that my friend and I aren't dressed for social occasions, but that's not what we were expecting to run into down here"

she does her best to curtsy without a dress, and raises her tail straight up prominently, just because that's how she thinks a Felis would curtsy. she straightens and asks

"mind if I ask what it is you're doing down here though?"

  9. Rosalie squinted as her vision wavered. Wherever they were heading, she had a feeling it wasn't the basement of the tavern. Indeed, once they emerged into the room, it appeared her joke about Wonderland had been more true than she'd thought. For there they were, in what was presumably the home of the talking rabbit who was proceeding to shake his guests' hands.

She was at a loss for words for a while- thankfully, Dempsey had plenty of words of her own- as she reoriented herself. This was what she was here for, wasn't it? Living a fairy tale? She was going to have to learn to accept things like this.

As Dempsey gave an attempt at a curtsy, Rosalie did so as well, with a bit more success due to actually having a dress, though she didn't really know exactly what to do either. "I'm Rosalie Browne," she said to the rabbit, "and this is Dempsey." Not even going to try to pronounce that last name. "I take it you live here," she added, responding to Dempsey's question. I mean, it was a rabbit hole, this was a rabbit, it wasn't that hard.

  10. Their awkward attempts at formalities seemed to please the creature greatly as it began contentedly thumping a foot against the hardwood floor rather happily. The pacing behind each whack however would slowly decrease as the questions began to increase. The first response was still chipper as he’d answer the feline woman’s query.

“I guess you could say I’m a guardian of sorts?”

He’d casually point back behind him towards the door resting beyond the chair he had once been sitting atop. The rabbit’s response towards the second question was much less uhh… amicable however. The thumping had ceased, and with it, his little beady eyes narrowed slightly while scrounging for an answer.

“Yeah. Sure. I guess you could say that...”

It seemed to be a bit of a sore subject for the creature. His momentary lapse of happiness however was quickly replaced however as his stomach began to rumble once more, this time even more fiercely than the last. A small paw clutched at his belly ruefully as he’d look back at the pair of women with hopeful eyes.

“You two wouldn’t happen to have any carrots on you, would you?”

  11. "I'm sorry, but we don't have any. I have a bit of bread and water I brought in case we ended up down here for a while though."

Dempsey thought it best not to mention the dried meat she'd also brought with her for now. That brought some questions to mind though. First, why can't the rabbit leave, what is he guarding, and though it really wasn't a question per say, she still couldn't shake the idea that the creature was dangerous. The "Kill now, think later" part of her mind was starting to being up some good points.

"Can't you just go to the surface and get some? Or are you trapped in here for some reason?"

She paced back and forth slowly, inspecting the room and always keeping half an eye on the rabbit man and tugging at the straps of her backpack thoughtfully. Maybe Rosalie has something for this?

(I swear on my life someday I WILL remember to tag people in my post)

  13. A guardian, he says? Specifically, he seems to be guarding whatever was on the other side of the door. Should Rosalie ask what exactly it was? After his response to her comment, however, she thought better of it. Looking on the scrawny rabbit as his stomach growled, Rosalie actually felt pity for him. Even though he was just a computer program... this rabbit was really getting to her.

"I'll tell you what," Rosalie said in her sweetest voice. "I don't have any carrots with me right now, but I'll try to get you some. And not only that, I'm... well, I'm a farmer's daughter," she explained with a grin. She was getting used to this "roleplaying" stuff. "So I might be able to plant a vegetable patch nearby if I can get the right seeds." It might be a bit more complicated than that, but who knows?
