  4. Judging by the sounds of combat ahead of her, Amane was incredibly late to the party. She'd been held up by assignments IRL, but when several online forums began talking about the new Yladian event in TS the student had made the decision to ditch her real life responsibilities for now, figuring that she could always rush them later. The event, on the other hand? If she missed it, who knows how much it would set her progression back by.

Hitting the scene, she didn't waste time observing the situation, rapidly chanting the words to a single heal, directing the spell towards the closest player she could see at a low health. The woman would begin to glow, light erupting from within and around her, and for the second that it lasted hid her figure from sight. As it faded, her health bar would begin to recover slightly more than half of its damage.

With her spell on cooldown, Amane finally took the time to survey the battlefield, trying to get her bearings. Noticing a tank right in front of the boss, she moved slightly adjacent, just in case the boss happened to have AOE attacks that could reach that far — it would be wiser not to be within range at all.

    Map
You must keep track of your character's position at all time. The rule is that you can only move 1 space per turn (diagonal counts as 1).
    • Moving to a new zone does not cause you to lose your action.
    • All characters begin in zone 7 at the start of the boss fight.
    • Melee masteries may only hit adjacent zones (this includes diagonals).

Rushing into the clearing, everybody quickly divided themselves up into different zones and began to attack the evil, minding-their-own-business mushrooms in earnest!

    Zone 1: Purple Doom Shrooms
    Zone 2:
    Zone 3: Avalon
Zone 4: Kasumi, Asuna, Roland, Solaria, Rory
    Zone 5: Legatos, Kirito
    Zone 6: Lemming, Amane
Zone 7: Ilusa, Eudora, Alphabet (everyone not yet posted)
    Zone 8: Gwyn, Kaeliel

  6. Damage

In Zone 2, Legatos and Kirito have finished off the pink group of Doom Shrooms, and reveal to the group that the Mycolossus is able to heal by rapidly decaying and absorbing the dead upon the battlefield.

In Zone 3, @Avalon must subtract 15 HP from the counter attacks of the purple shroomfolk as she battles them alone on the front lines!

As more and more heroes turn their attention upon the Mycolossus, its health begins to fall in chunks; some large, some small. It takes time for it to slowly lift the enormous blade that it wields, allowing many to rush to the front lines and take it on head to head. @Rory Ulric bravely steps forward and raises voice to it, much like the girl before him. Letting out another bellow of anger, the Mycolossus swings down upon @Rory Ulric and deals a massive 30 HP damage to him as he takes the brunt of the entire assault.

The force of the attack is so strong that rocks kick up about her, and everybody in Zone 4 becomes pelted by sharp stones as they fly by. @Kasumi Kurogami, @Asuna, @Roland Rutledge and @Solaria all take 10 HP damage as the shockwave and the debris from sword strikes them.

Damage Reduction: Apply only during damage phase. -1 damage per piece, per tier, for medium armor (to represent dodging some attacks) and heavy (to represent damage soak), up to a maximum of -10 damage.

E.g. Poor Gloves (-1), Poor Chest (-1), Common Legs (-2) for a total of -4 from the damage you would otherwise be taking. These items must be Medium or Heavy; light provides no reduction bonus, as it is purely energy regen.

    Cooldowns have refreshed

You must pick a role for this special encounter, put it in at the bottom of the post. This role will stay with you through the entire event.

Do NOT roll until you pick an action, not all action let you roll.

    Role: Tank
Shield, Guard, Phantasmia, Geomancy, or Hydromancy qualify. You only roll if you attack as an action.

Pick one of these actions to use, you can flavor it however you want. You cannot roll the die unless you pick an action that let you (i.e. attack). All tank actions scale off of the tank mastery.

Attack: (cost 5 EN) Roll d100 and add appropriate modifiers, also add 20, then divide the result by 2.

Taunt: (cost 10 EN) Attract the attention of the target to prevent it from targeting other roles and zones. Roll d100 and add appropriate modifiers, then divide the result by 2.

Hold the Line: (cost 20 EN) Requires 3 tanks (including you) to use this powerful ability to cut damage next cycle by half for everyone in your zone. You may not roll.

Rest: (No cost) you rest, recovering 20 EN. You may not roll.

Second Wind: (no cost - passive) If a tank receives lethal damage, they resist the killing blow and come out with 20 HP and 40 EN without Death Affliction. This can only happen once per event. This does not count as a Revive.

    Role: DPS
All weapon mastery and magic mastery qualify. You only roll if you attack as an action.

Pick one of these actions to use, you can flavor it however you want. You cannot roll the die unless you pick an action that let you (i.e. attack).

Attack: (cost 10 EN) You attack as normal. Roll d100 and add appropriate modifiers.

Reckless Attack: (cost 10 HP and 10 EN) You attack with abandon, doing more damage but expose yourself to more danger. Roll d100 and add appropriate modifiers THEN, add an extra +30 to the result.

Berserk: Only for characters with Berserk. You must subtract 10 EN when you enter Berserk the first time, on top of the energy cost of your chosen attack. Roll d100 and add appropriate modifiers, then ADD whatever amount your mastery says below certain HP threshold.

Remember that there are threshold limits to this skill, so if your HP is too high, you cannot benefit immediately.

Rest: (No cost) you rest, recovering 20 EN. You may not roll.

    Role: Support
Naturamancy, Illumancy, or Muse qualify. You only roll if you attack as an action.

Pick one of these actions to use, you can flavor it however you want. You cannot roll the die unless you pick an action that let you (i.e. attack). All support spells scale off of support magic. You can only support people who are in or adjacent to your zone.

Attack: (cost 5 EN) Roll d100 and add appropriate modifiers then divide the result by 2.

Single Healing: base 5 + 3 per mastery tier (excluding beginner, but +7 for Expert and Mastered) = final heal amount. You may not roll.
    • Cost: 2 EN per tier (including beginner).
    • Note: You can heal with any tier below your current level to converse energy.
    • E.g. Adept Heal: 17 HP / costs 10 MP.
    • Note: Tag the person you are healing and write the amount.

Group Healing (max 3 targets): base 5 + 3 per mastery tier (excluding beginner, but +5 for Expert and Mastered) = final heal amount divided by 3 (Round up). You may not roll.
    • Cost: 3 EN per tier (including beginner).
    • Note: You can heal with any tier below your current level to converse energy.
    • E.g. Adept Heal: 17/3 = 6 HP for 3 people / costs 15 MP.
    • Note: Tag the people you are healing and write the amount.
Single Damage Buff: base 5 + 3 per mastery tier (excluding beginner, but +6 for Expert and Mastered) = final buff amount. You may not roll.
    • Buff lasts 3 rounds for 1 target.
    • Cost: 2 EN per tier (including beginner).
    • Note: Tag the person you are buffing and write the amount.
AoE Damage Buff: base 5 + 1 per mastery tier (excluding beginner, but +2 for Expert and Mastered) = final amount divided by 2 (Round up). You may not roll.
    • Buff lasts 3 rounds for 3 targets.
    • Cost: 2 EN per tier (including beginner).
    • Note: Tag the people you are buffing and write the amount.
Revive: (costs 20 EN) Revive someone and put them at 20 HP and 40 EN, with no Death Affliction. One use per Support per event. No character may be revived twice. You may not roll.

Rest: (No cost) you rest, recovering 15 EN. You may not roll.

Passive Regeneration: (no cost - passive) +0.5 EN for every light armor piece and magical tool per tier (round up). This happens automatically at the end of every action the user does.

The status bar in your post should reflect that this energy has been gained after energy costs for casting.

    Modifiers
For this cycle, everyone gets a +5 modifier to their roll per mastery tier (except beginner). +10 for Expert rank.

In addition: If you had Beast Taming (IF you have tamed a beast) or Dual Wielding (IF you are wielding an extra weapon), you ALSO get +2 modifier per mastery tier (except beginner) +5 for expert.

  9. The huntress growled lowly to herself as she stood from the low position she had taken to restring the longbow Sera had crafted for her. Perhaps she should have been as insistent on a stronger line than even such a high draw weight required. Oh well, a trouble for another time. It was a good bow, sturdy and lethal when it did strike true. Like Nathair, it was a welcome ally. Gwyn took a steadying breath and readied herself to rejoin the fight when the buff was joined by the soothing balm of magic that felt, to her in the moment, like aloe on a sunburned patch of skin. It reminded her of those natural lotions and gels packed with plants boasting names so odd she'd never have a chance to remember them. It reminded Sabine of the summer she spent in Colorado, foolish enough to think the colder mountain air would protect her from the sun. She shook herself back into character as @Alphabet Chocolate's own natural magic joined @Kaeliel Arellende's.

"Thanks to the both of you! And the bow'll be fine, it's as tough as the smith who made it," she grinned and nodded in thanks for the healing before she turned to the smaller woman who had joined them. Alphabet's words widened her smile into something fiercer, the thrill of the hunt revived some now with the second wind their healing gifted and the mention of her beast. "Who, Nathair? I got him where he got me, half-drowned in a river. Was quite the fight!" Gwyn turned to look down at the slit pupils of said tame. "Let's show our support our thanks, big guy." In a single, smooth movement, the ranger lifted her longbow to take aim on the boss once more. Beside her, Nathair swung into motion. The dizzying pattern of its travel didn't betray its target in the least. It understood a challenge when one was issued, just as its tamer did. Once again she endured the strain and danger of a Reckless Attack's force behind her Precision Shot. This time, she wasn't going to fuck it up.

  13. Something was wrong with Roland's hammers. They simply didn't seem to have the weight or impact they should. That and they were made of out snakes. Roland jumped backward almost throwing them away from himself before realizing that despite their writhing they were maintaining the shape quite well. "Incoming missiles" a female voice announced somewhere nearby, causing Roland to frantically scan the area around him picking out a small swarm of projectiles headed in his direction.

Deftly he swung his snake hammers and managed to bat the majority of the barrage away with a clean swipe. Roland stood for a moment, purely amazed by the feat before hearing a roar that snapped his attention back towards the mechanized dinosaur. Staring down the beasts dual wielded chainsaw arms, and laser direction missile pack, Roland had little choice but the run in, screaming, "I WILL BE THE ONE WHO DEFEATS YOU!" as he tried to swing his snake hammers wildly.

  16. The creature was regenerating with each death! Asuna continued to stay just close enough to it's blade to not get hit but also allow her to make quick assaults. She spun and readied her sword and focused all of her attention on the enemy. If the others kept killing the minions would it spawn more? Causing a endless cycle of regeneration? Nothing had shown that it could do that yet but the concern was there. Possibly on others minds as well. Asuna was not a high level player in this game so her advice may not have much merit. Still, she would shout to whoever could hear her over the battle noise.

"Keep your focus on the boss! It might be able to respawn the-"

Several rocks blew in her face as she had to quickly cover it with her arm. The rocks stung and she realized that pain was pretty real in this game. Asuna was set on keeping it that way though. It was just something she was used too. A game feeling real in every way. She took down her arm and rushed the monster again. Slicing at it with a power single slash. It was just then that she heard it make a terrible sound and she knew what that meant...

    It was enraged.

  19. This is why Freya thought that she needs to stop rushing things off. Just shortly after her first login, using her own likeness as preset for her character, she ran off for some quest around. But when she agreed to be a helping hand for Yladian elves, she didn't expect to encounter a colossal mushroom; a colossal mushroom with a big stone sword. And also add equally menacing shrooms. This is a fantasy game after all, she needs to get used to it.

When she arrived, there is already a group of people fighting the Mycolossus (or so was its name). Without much waiting or assessing the situation, she quickly joins the fray offensively. The Mycolossus roars in rage after a precision arrow hits it critically and she took it as an opportunity to attack as she slashed her sword diagonally into the giant mushroom. Only for the sword to seemingly harmlessly lodge into its body, resulting in a pitiful strike. Uh oh, remind her how she needs to stop rushing things off again?

  22. Despite having been itching to be at the front of the back, the massive surge of players and enemies had gotten Aceline mixed up and a little loss. By the time she fought her way to the front, much of the mob was already gone, leaving the boss itself standing tall. If she was going to have any real effect, she was going to have to be a little reckless and jump right into there. The area right in front was starting to get a little crowded, so she moved towards the sides in hope of flanking. Apparently she was arriving just in time for the monster enter it’s enraged state. The good news was that meant it had to be close to death. Bad news, of course, being that in her newbie state this was going to be a highly risky attack. But, high risk meant high reward, if she struck!

Running after it at the side, when she got into range she leapt at it. Her rapier was meant for piercing, so she was going to pierce the heck out of it. Approaching it’s leg, she struck, stabbing into the mushroom’s flesh as hard as she could. Her sword stuck in deep, leaving her just kind of dangling onto its leg in it’s enraged state. She moved quickly to try and dislodge her sword, planting her feet on it and pulling, finally freeing herself as it kick about, sending her flying onto the ground and receiving a little damage in the process. As she stood up, she dusted herself off and straightened her hat, a slight laugh.

”Well, that went a lot better than I expected.”

  25. Claire was not happy that the group had decided to engage the enormous mushroom. But, everyone was beginning to move towards the fork in the path that it was blocking, so she had no choice but to follow along with the rest of the group. As she moved, she reformed her ice spear into the curving blade of a scythe. If the elves wanted food, might as well get a weapon that was able to carve chunks out of it.

She stayed back for most of the first wave assault, looking around the battlefield. Everything appeared to be going well, but it looked as if the giant Mycolossus had reached a breaking point. It roared, seeming to regain some energy despite the great wounds that had been inflicted. Claire grimaced--they'd have to end this quickly.

And so it was with great reluctance--she wanted to emphasize this, she was not pleased--that she stepped forward, staying a bit further away from the large group directly in front of the Mycollosus. Eager to get this done, she swung with all her might at the Mycolossus's feet in an uncharacteristically Reckless Attack. She was tired, frustrated, and took the brunt of her anger out on the creature, smiling with grim satisfaction as she creature's... flesh(?)... split beneath her blade.

  28. She was getting a bit worried about the types of attacks that were coming her way, and ended up rushing in a diagnol to avoid being at the front- the pain was really starting to get to her, and while she wanted to heal those that were getting badly hit, she was also worried that the monsters before them were getting stronger as time drove on.

Looking at Avalon, who was now in front of her rather than at the side, she decided to give a buff spell a try, strengthening her comrade only slightly, but hopefully enough to give her an edge. "Let's finish them off as a team! I can't do much, but I can still do something!" Her smile was as bright as the sun she was named after- but her eyes quickly turned narrow as she glared at the monsters ahead.

  31. Rory sunk to one knee from the blow, his arm groaning and his shield cracked. He coughed blood from the impact as he thought his arm broke, gladly it wasn't. He snarled as he swung at it, but he was a little shaky from the blow so it hit its toe. Hopefully it did damage as he yelled at it again, a battle cry going through out the air as he swung at its toe again.

Rory hoped he was helping, but in truth, the blow really fricken hurt and was hoping not to take another but that's why he yelled at it. So no one else had to. All around him were people with better gear hitting it like a pancake. He had crap gear, but he still wanted to help, so why not take the pain? 34. Taking heed of Asuna's advice- she sounded like she knew what she was doing, Kaeliel thought she'd take a shot at the boss, hoping she didn't end up drawing too much retaliation from the enraged monster. "All right, beast- this is for Yladia!" she called out as she raised her bow and launched an arrow... well, vaguely in the Mycolossus' direction. As the arrow bounced off, doing little more than scratching the boss, Kaeliel's ears drooped in dismay. "...really?" At least her bow hadn't broken the way Gwyn's had. Nonetheless, it was pretty embarrassing for an elf to show such inept archery skill. At least by the end of this she'd likely be able to improve some.

  37. She was sitting, waiting, wishing to land the last attack on the thing, to be able to claim herself both the first and the last strike upon its massive form. There was no reason other than gamer epeening, measuring the length of her magical staff against the swords of all the boys and girls running around the front lines. Sadly as much as she was into the boss fight and hoped to steal the glory of the pointless last shot... she was nowhere near as excited as Roland was. Watching him flop about, flailing his arms and screaming that he would be the one to defeat the boss, she shook her head and actually blushed at the recent memory of having run off ahead to hit the thing first.

Had she looked so ridiculous? Probably not... She didn't flail swords around like she was trying to achieve lift off, at the very least. Focusing more of her malefic energy upon the monolithic monster, she cursed as more dark energy snapped at her and caused her wounds. A healing spell from a nearby woman raised her health points to an acceptable level, however, and she shot @Amane Hirota a smile before releasing a bolt of dark magic at the boss.

  40. Avalon’s eyes narrowed down on a purple shroom before her, hands gripping tightly on her crude cinquedeas. Impatient and lacking a bit of finesse ( in that sense, even lower than Avalon’s) the monster charged against the white-haired faerin slashing and crashing its stone sword on the ground with great force. Avalon evaded her enemy’s attack with a quick, albeit large side step and closed in to stab the mushroom in what had some resemblance to a chest, and it’s characteristic mushroom head. Lastly, the woman locked it’s movements by positioning her right leg behind the creature, pushing it down and smashing the monster on the ground. Without a drop of remorse, Avalon twisted both cinquedeas and finished off her enemy.

As luck would have it, the white-haired faerin had very little time to catch her breath because as soon as she removed her weapons from the enemy’s corpse, another roar ensued, followed by a powerful shockwave. Despite her battered looks, Avalon couldn’t resist on making a comment about the situation, even if only to herself. “My oh my, makes me wonder who will get to cook each other by the end of this!” To her eyes, the scene was a bit comical – a bunch of ant-sized adventurers harassed a colossal mushroom equipped with a blade that slashed them in response. It was as if each opposing sides were carefully preparing a meal, except that something similar would happen – if they managed to kill the giant mushroom, that is.

Something did not sit well with Avalon as she noticed how the fallen pink mushroom were shrouded by some sort of magic and managed to heal the Mycolossus one way or another. Considering she had no one else to help on fending off the purple mushrooms Avalon decided to join the fray and hit the boss along with the rest of the forces. The rogue darted through the battleground to the best of her ability while avoiding as many of the purple mushrooms as possible, despite the reckless charge. When she managed to reach the Mycolossus, Avalon took the opportunity of receiving a buff from Solaria to use the purple doom shrooms as a stepping stones and jumped up to the boss, stabbing both her weapons in it. Thanks to gravity and the motions of her enemy, she slid down the monster’s body and left a large gash behind.
