It was a beautiful day to go to the river. It was sunny, and there was enough tree cover nearby to hide if it got too hot! With such great weather and a nice view, wouldn't it be a good time to try something new? That's what Solaria had decided, at least, when she managed to find some fishing gear and tried casting a line. One minute passed. Two minutes. Five minutes. The fish were taking way too long to bite! "This is unfair. Why do the fish not like me?" She puffed her cheeks, green tendrils tickling the soft skin. "Well, it stinks that I"m not getting any bites, but I guess this isn't the only way to enjoy myself at a river. Let's see..." Slipping into her lower layers of clothing, she hung the rest of her dress on a tree branch to keep it out of the way. With careful steps, she let herself submerge into the water- a surprisingly nice level of water at that. Shivering, she laughed to herself. "It's so cold!" Fish moved to tickle her legs, her sore muscles slightly cramping. "I...Probably should have stretched. Well, I guess I can still stretch in the water." Timidly, she began to stretch herself, trying to be as fluid as the river water. "Mm~ This really does beat sitting there waiting for a bite!" With a soft sigh that mixed with her laughter, she mumbled, "It's kind of quiet though..." @Korraquinn
Tania spent time at the river bed, her tools out and splayed while she hummed delightedly. Anyone in their right mind might misunderstand a variety of her efforts, her innocent and adorable appearance as a Fae made it easy to misunderstand. A child at play many would think, humming away, but the instruments were stained red, filtering chunks of fat and meat off was the most difficult part. Her childish humming and giggling continued even as she wiped the blades, gears, and springs. She used a soft cloth to wipe them as she continued to diligently and meticulously ensure nothing was damaged or scratched. "Mmm~ Tough~ Just a little bit more, it would be a shame if it lost it's balance." Tania complained lifting one up, finding it to be a little lacking. She tried to make sure things were as precise as possible; every little gear had an important role, every spring and part were important and valuable. Multiple redundancies were meaningless with precision tools, while it might work for humans, with engineering and technology it was wasteful and counter productive. That was what Tania liked about it; things made sense, things were as they should be. It was 'perfection' in the purest sense of the word. A relaxed sigh came from her lips as she began slowly setting the things in her hand down on a soft blanket again contented. "Someday soon this'll get super super interesting~" She reassured herself with a sweet giggle.
Feeling refreshed from taking a quick swim within the river, she found herself needing food more than ever. Food and fun were equally important to the body, and she was sure that was the case no matter what species one was- and with that in mind, her limber elfin body was quick to sway itself back out, onto the riverbank, a chill chastising her through her spine. "I didn't bring a blanket or a towel..." She mumbled, picking back up where she left off. She was well dressed despite having taken her most outer-garment off, but she needed to dry herself, so she switched the layers around instead while hiding in a bush for the process- she didn't see anyone around, but she didn't want to take chances. Re-clothed, she got her fishing rod back in her hands and meandered downstream, carrying the wet ones with her. That was when she saw someone. A girl with a blanket covered in trinkets and tools and possibly other things that Solaria just couldn't identify. Wondering if someone with so many nifty objects could help her figure out what was wrong with her fishing pole (because it couldn't have been her lack of patience, right?), she called, "Excuse me," then continued to make her way to the blanket. "You look like you're good with tools. Can you help me fix this fishing rod? I made it by the survival books, but I don't have the tinkering skill at all, so it's pretty bad and not really working."
Tania jerked briefly from someone else appearing. She cocked her little head, her appearance very sweet and innocent, it was something difficult to fake, she was still a child in reality after all so being a child in the game wasn't too difficult. Adding to that, her nature as a Faerin made her small and that much more cuddly. "Muu, Only fixing?~" She asked flashing a toothy grin, like a child with mischief on her mind, Tania was no stranger to harsh or cruel things. No, had she been stronger this no doubt might have ended very differently but Tania maintained a realistic assessment of her own power and ability; after all, she had to given her life in reality. "Only fixing is boring-- How about improving? Maybe with spikes? Or rockets!?" She asked, her toothy smile widening as she considered how to improve a simple fishing rod. It was a part of her skill set, a tinkerer, a hunter, she had all of the skills necessary to achieve such a strange and unnecessary venture like that. Unfortunately despite brandishing her tools with a flashy flourish, the flick of her wrist bringing a variety of things from hammers to knives, screwdrivers and wrenches between her tiny fingers... she lacked the masteries to really make anything helpful and positive. At her level of skill it would no doubt be more detrimental or counter productive at this point. She was still far too new, she had all of the know how, tools and supplies needed to make the things she saw in her head, but at the same time she lacked the proper abilities in game. In other words she lacked the skills and dexterity to achieve her childish dreams of stirring the pot with chaotic traps and hilariously unreasonable add-ons more dangerous then the weapon it would be added onto. Like a deranged crackpot she schemed, but no matter how deluded or crazed. "What should we add huh? Huh?!?" She asked with a bright and sunny giggle practically bouncing on her heels for inspiration.
"While improving it wouldn't be bad, I don't knwo if rockets would help catch the fish- it might help cook them though!" She giggled, being sincere. She could already imagine a laser or rocket launcher atop a fishing pole- it'd be heavy, but a laser in particular could be pretty amazing! Still, it wasn't like Solaria needed anything fancy. Heck, she was only fishing because it was a beautiful day and it had sounded like fun. It wasn't like she actually needed the fish. Considering that, though, shouldn't she hae let the girl have some fun? Even if it was possibly an adult, the appearance of cute child was hard not to want to fawn over... "Spikes though, that could probably make it work a lot better. At least, a lot better than it has been. I can't catch anything, and I took a dip- there's lots of fish!" Laughing a bit more heartily, she crouched to look at what the girl had. "There's a lot of stuff here, and I can't name half of it. You're pretty good with tools, huh?" "Oh, right! I'm Solaria. What's your name?"
Tania pouted a little at the girl's lack of faith in her rockets. She hadn't thought of rocket launchers, instead she was thinking about propulsion! A hook that moved like a bullet was an amazing idea she thought! Though with the rod owner saying no she could only pout adorably, her cheeks puffing out making her face round and chubby. "Muu, you don't understand the beauty of my aesthetic!" She complained crossing her arms adorably dissatisfied. Tania only heard the word spikes though before a particularly toothy grin came to her face as she nodded contently. "Spikes then~" She murmured, her gaze seemed to lose a bit of it's sparkle, as if running on autopilot briefly her hands suddenly darted towards the fishing rod. As if building at impossible speeds her hands moved like a blur-- as if the parts were arranging themselves rather then her placing them. It was a skill from her Tinkerer tree, 'Quick Build' for the placement of add-ons and the like. Unfortunately though her skill and ability wasn't quite strong enough to produce good high quality add ons. By the time she finished, the tiny hook was practically a small chainsaw. With blades along the hoop, wires along the string to be cast. Tania looked proud, a bright grin on her face when the sparkle came back to her eyes. "Tada!" She spoke, but what she made hardly qualitied as a fishing rod any more and was more likely to turn a barrel of fish into chum instead. That was only if it worked, chances were it would sooner explode given her skill level. "I'm Tania!" She said with a proud pose as if she was confident she'd be famous in the future. Given her ability choices there was a chance she could, but no doubt it would be infamy instead.
Sure, it didn't seem like a fishing rod anymore- but it could surely act as a skewer if she thought hard enough! Unaware of the possible dangers, she could only hug the girl lightly in thanks. Even if it didn't seem like what it was supposed to be anymore, it was still rather amazing. "Tania, huh? A nice name for an amazing inventor. I look forward to seeing your work even further from here!" It wasn't what she expected, but it sure made her happy. Seeing someone so enthralled and enjoying a task like this, it was truly amazing. "You really love tinkering with things, huh?" Giggling, she thought back on the concept of aesthetic. "No one can truly understand another's sense of beauty. It's in the eyes of the beholder, after all. But...I do see the beauty of your labors. Your hard work and joy shine through when I see this." Lifting the 'rod' in the air, she twirled in a circle on her feet, bending over to face Tania more closely. "I could never think to make something this cool. That's why I find it really amazing and inspiring that you can. Well, shall we take this beauty out for a test drive? If we catch some fish, we can share it for a meal somehow. Not that I have a cooking skill...But...We'll manage, right?"
Tania giggled brightly, with a soft pivot on her heel she whirled around clearly proud of herself. "Tinkering is fun~ Digging inside of things, pulling out all of the guts, poking around and seeing how it works." It was something that could be taken as a double entendre, unfortunately the deranged girl meant it both ways. Whether she was ripping apart a living thing or a machine, she viewed them as essentially and universally the same. Though when Solaria commented on seeing her work, Tania only sucked at her teeth in response. Add-ons were a layman's methodology! For those who couldn't pierce deeper into the true wonders of tinkering, Solaria was impressed by the bare boned basics! Tania huffed a little but still nodded, despite it being the basics, she did still explain that she could see Tania's ability in it. Tania wouldn't refuse a compliment at all! Instead when Solaria commented on trying to take it out for a spin though to catch something, Tania hesitated briefly. As the maker who would know better then her about her probability for success? She was almost 90% certain that that fishing rod would explode. After all, Tania had spent no mastery points, her skills were almost non-existent despite how flashy it looked. "Sure! Test away!" She said, not bothering to explain the risks regardless. Instead, she endeavored to take a few long and carefully measured steps out of the way until she could put a large rock between her and Solaria while watching from over the top. Her eyes sparkling with mischief and curiosity for her invention's possibilities. It was almost impossible for it to work without a hitch, but there was still the chance that something would work.
The girl's somewhat morbid description of what tinkering was happened to fit well with some of the things Solaria was experiencing in the real world. "So it's like my biology lessons that we have to do disections of anatomical models?" As if the memory itself enslaved her, part of her guts turned and toiled. She really did hate that part of class...Which was a bad thing for her future, most likely. Maybe this girl would help her there, too? As Tania's expressions changed regularly, Solaria could only smile in wonder at her interesting and energetic self. As she took the fishing rod with ignorant bliss, she watched the girl take a few steps back before getting a bit away. Maybe she didn't like fish? She soon found out that wasn't the issue. Far from it, in fact. As she cast the line into the water, the explosion was truly fantastic- blowing her away just enough to catch the fish that had been blown from the waters above the bait at that moment. Her rod was no more, but her haul was big...And her laughter was booming. "I've never seen fish fly like that! It's amazing, Tania!"
