  1. The power that seemed to skate like the warm glow of daylight through her muscles faded as their chosen mark fell. The feast of the Yladian's, and supplies for what would hopefully last them for a long while, was laid out and ready for them as the elves trickled into the clearing. Gwyn's gaze skated across the beast of a mushroom before dropping her gaze to Nathair's returning form. She met it halfway and crouched to slide both hands along its smooth scales. The anaconda's eyes closed under the ministrations and, with a final pat to the thick coils winding up towards its head, she stood. "Well done, friend. There will be many more to sink our fangs into." Nathair's jaw flexed as if stretching to be ready for a feast, but as soon as they made their way to the Mycolossus and tried it? The snake had a very different opinion. While Gwyn certainly enjoyed the hearty and earthy flavor of it, the flesh of a fungus was not the flesh of a beast. The anaconda writhed for a moment and spat out the chunk it had taken. "At least you tried it." She tried to hide her amusement at what was most likely an attempted offended look on part of the reptile. From the hiss in reply she didn't think it appreciated it.

With her energy and health recovering and a bit of food to pull her through, she joined the Yladians in their harvest. Other players had also joined and while she had no blades she would manage just fine. Nathair's powerful jaws could leave gaping wounds from fierce strikes and she had more than enough muscle to dig her hands in like climbing holds and pull. Chunks of the boss were pulled away and occasionally she would stop to grab a small piece before it hit the ground for another tasty morsel. Once she had a sizable amount she began hauling it to the pile, though it took two trips for her and the snake to move it all. The huntress shook her clothes free of any stray scraps and patted off some spores, though they certainly weren't causing awful toxic reactions this time. Small mercies.

@Kyupin Felnya caught her eye nearby, delivering her own share of the Mycolossus, but looking... less worse for wear physically. Not at all emotionally. She sighed heavily at the Felis was comforted by one of the Yladians and Gwyn wondered in passing if the rancher she had aided earlier was alright. If the big, bay gelding and his trio of partners in the harness were fine. The child that Rory had brought to be put in a wagon and safely moved. The druids. She considered reaching out to the Felis, but she didn't want to make a scene of it or embarrass her. Later then.

Instead, she turned an eye to @The Admiral as the woman appeared with her so called color guard. The ranger would have to catch up with her later though, it seemed she was a bit busy with one of the higher ranking Yladians. She was still unfamiliar with their ranks, their terminology, their culture. She'd like to learn, but she wouldn't be surprised if they jealously guarded it. A people on the edge of extinction and she couldn't find a single scrap of pity or disappointment in that. They were strong enough to not need her pity and she couldn't judge them for their actions when she was only a ghost with one foot in their world. Gwyn struggled with it for a moment before she sought out the healers on Yladia's side, intent on asking after the druids they had hauled back to the carts during the pollen storm. After that? There was only home to return to. She didn't quite think Astorea was that though. It would be another night of camping in the woods most likely.

  2. Alpha tentatively accepted the turquoise vial from @Luvi Nhivasi before returning to her new hobby and preoccupation; mushroom harvesting. It wasn't as fun as, say, wasting her time away exploring the expansive land and satisfying her curiosity through her travels but it was an interesting pass-time nonetheless. She ignored the fact that it was an order directly from Astorea (proudly run by her own guild leader) and instead opted to pretend that she was doing so out of her own volition. She took a bite of fungus and a gulp of the strange concoction that the stranger had gifted her and found herself with renewed vigor as she plundered through the corpse of her former enemy and took its fleshy substance for herself. "La di do," she sang lightly as she continued to strip the body of its meat. She was pleased to find that her blade didn't dull as it sliced through the skin and connected tissue.

  3. Having had minimal control over the single attack she had developed against the boss, a lingering ache swelled within her palm. Holding it within the other, Eleanor hoped that she would have more control over her abilities the next time she was required to use them. There was definitely some practice and testing to be done if she wished to grow more proficient.

As Eleanor slipped her hands back into her pockets, she examined the people around. She was curious as to see what things each would get up to. Most seemed to be heading to the body and gathering up a piece of the thing. Waiting until most others were finished, she approached the colossal corpse.

She spent a moment appraising the corpse, before discovering what seemed to be a weak spot upon one of it's lower limbs. Perhaps a spot where @Rory Ulric had swung at it's previously. Sliding her fingers into the already open wound, Eleanor quietly extracted a specimen from the carcass. Within her fingers, the fresh piece dripped.

Uncertain of what to do with the piece, Eleanor decided that it would be best to first get to a more comfortable position. Beginning to walk away from the group, she pulled her hat down. If only she could turn invisible.

  4. It was very, very satisfying seeing the health bar climb up on her target. That done, she looked around, but before she could decide on next target of healing, the monster attacked. …First decimating its own allies?

“Ha?” A confused sound escaped her but as she watched the monster, its health was growing back, so she understood that it killed its allies to heal itself.

Then came the actual attack and the health bars of many people were being chipped away. No matter how close or how far away. Why, there were even debris that were pelting her, chipping away her health. Her eyes shined with excitement, glancing around for the least healthy individual. There were few of those and one of those was again a tank.

The target decided, she concentrated. The chant was a familiar one, one she could now easily recite and the light poured from her hands. It took shape and then it shot off to reach the target, @Rory Ulric who was a tank that held the monster attention.

But, before the light even reached him the boss was dead. She let out a dismayed whine, even as the health of the tank was climbing up because her spell reached him. Because, because the monster will not see its hard work being undone anymore. Her ears dropped even as she watched some dark-haired human scream what she thought. The echoing ‘Nooooo!’ sounded exactly like what she felt.

Still. There were people to heal! Her eyes regained their shine and as the new characters, elves reappeared, she decided to heal people! Of course first she was approached by someone @Luvi Nhivasi and given a vial. “Thank you for this.” Ilusa smiled at the female elf taking the offered vial, but did not use it yet. In fact now that there was no need to hurry, she could leisurely heal people and she did so! First the most hurt ones. “Actually wait! You are hurt yourself, let me help. As one who looks up to Iedi I can heal.” Ilusa smiled and chanted same familiar spell, letting the warm light envelop the woman. Seeing her injuries healing up and the health bar getting filled up, she nodded satisfied, her tail swaying in very self-satisfied manner. Not having to conserve her energy and her energy returning to her passively she got a lot more healing spells to throw around. So waving at the elf in bye, she jumped at her chance to heal the people.

She walked up to some, like @Romeo Agostini, @Kirito, @Avalon and @Asuna in order to heal them while few others she healed from afar.

During her healing actions the contingent from Astorea came forth. The banner was from the YULAN guild and hearing the woman speaking she understood that Astor sent them.. Perhaps they too got delayed by the real-life problems? Ilusa decided to ask the King personally bit later.

That done, she decided to work for Astorea now. Getting the provision sounded important for everyone, even the elves were doing so. Additionally, she was curious if it really tasted good, because quite frankly it did smell yummy from up close. She decided to keep some for herself and if it would be good, share it with Astor. A quick chant had made her hands light up in light and thus she started to do the harvesting.

It was surprisingly easy to slice off parts of the fallen boss and it was huge enough that she could work without getting in way of anyone.

  5. The gigantic creature fell right in front of her as she could only gaze it in shock. She didn't know that she would fare this bad, let alone be useless. The sight of destroyed carts, dead animals and the look on elves' faces made Corvella wonder if the battle is victorious at all. But she believed that her and other warriors' efforts protected the fate of Yladian elves, no matter how minuscule it looked. She might fail this time, but nobody's gonna fall in the same hole twice.

Corvella stood up and people begin to harvest the meat out of the Mycolossus thingy. Oh right, looting. She walked towards the remains of the gigantic creature and with the help of small knife, she begin to 'harvest' the meat from the mushroom; the others just outright rip the meats of it but she is struggling with it.

Moments later the people who fought in the battle seem still harvesting what's left of it, so she thought maybe it would be nice to make friends with one or two of them. She tried speaking, but her nervousness kicks in and she gives up. Talking into a camera isn't the same as socializing apparently, so maybe if she have thought a way to greet them without being awkward it would be better. Is mushroom meat a good conversation starter in such gloomy situation anyway?

  8. Legatos let a relieved sigh escape his lips as he smirked. They had done it! The foal mushroom monster had been felled! Eager to continue on with this adventure he happily helped himself to the fungi flesh of the group's slaughtered quarry. Filling the contents of the bags he hoped this would be enough for the moment and would bring his haul to the rest of the group. Hopefully this would suffice. "Now onto the festivities, I take it?" He mused while sweeping a cursory glance over the gathered npcs and healers.

  9. With a broad smile at the monster's defeat, she was quick to thank @Luvi Nhivasi for the medicine she'd offered, feeling a bit tired and her wounds fairly fresh. A gentle scent had hit the air to her- was it the scent of victory? "I missed this feeling. I haven't been able to enjoy a battle like this in so long..."

Stretching, she began to join the group and gather the meaty reward. With her hair in the way, she found it hard at times to keep it from getting on the fleshy fungus, but she wasn't going to give up on it. "I wonder if it'll taste as good as it looks? I bet Ay would love this." Ay, her friend in the real world. How would she react if she'd seen this situation? "Oops, I said that out loud. She's gonna kill me if she finds out." Her laughter boomed as she returned to picking the mushrooms.

"Ah well. All's well that ends well!"

  10. Several long moments passed before the mechanized dinosaur began to self destruct, sending a stream of unicorns parading into the air where they donned top hats and began to tap dance. Roland stood mesmerized for several minutes (or hours, one of the two) before the obvious occurred to him. The robot would have left several valuable pieces of tech as it fell into its death knell.

Wasting no time Roland ran forward, using his snake machete to carve the fiber optic cabling, and large computer components from the fleshy remains. It was odd, the thing really stunk, not like a dead animal carcass but like some sort of poisonous mushroom. However, the goods were simply to good to pass up. He berated one of the incestoid creatures nearby that was collecting the parts, and had it pile up his small collection before the world turned blue, then white, then red, then black.

  11. While Kaeliel's attempt to strike at the boss fell flat, the others more than made up for it. After all they'd been through on this journey, it came as a great relief when the Mycolossus was finally brought down. "We've done it!" she exclaimed, raising her bow in the air triumphantly. She hadn't quite earned the right to make a cool victory pose yet, but that time would come.

As the Grovekeeper and Admiral spoke, Kaeliel listened well to their words. She hoped the harvesting wouldn't take too long; she was very much in need of a rest, and her player was in need of a place to log out. The healing potion from @Luvi Nhivasi helped relax her a bit as she joined in, digging out chunks of the boss with a shovel. She gazed back the way they had come, thinking back on the experience. The Yladians had lost so much; many innocents had died; but it would have been much worse had she and the other adventurers not been there. She clasped her hands and prayed to the Great Father Tree- or whichever other divine force the elves prayed to- in remembrance of those lost.

The next question was, where would Kaeliel go from here? She could have gone back to traveling as an adventurer; many of the other players would, she presumed. But after all the hardship she'd shared, and considering what she wanted to become, there was really only one possibility. After loading up her share of the load, Kaeliel approached the Grovekeeper.

"You referred to me as an 'outsider', yes?" she asked him. "I take no offense- it's the truth. I was simply wondering if I might have the opportunity to change that. I'd like to live alongside my own kind. Help rebuild, that sort of thing. I can shoot a bow... usually," she explained with a laugh. "And I'm learning naturamancy and music too. Do you think there's a place for me in your new home?"

  12. Alpha sliced through the connective tissue and made her way to the over-sized mushroom's elbow joint (do mushrooms even have elbows?). It seemed that there was little to be scavenged at this point with the quick work the others had made on the reasonably sized cadaver. "Lu li la," she continued her makeshift song as her blade sawed through another piece of flesh, removing the discolored foodstuff from the rest of the body. She placed it into her satchel, idly wondering how such a small container could hold so much mushroom flesh, before continuing on her work with a whistle and chortle. The best she could do was make this gruesome chore seem like a peaceful venture...hopefully.

  13. Avalon’s eyes widened in response to the slashing attack from the enemy causing damage to a huge portion of the forces fighting the boss, including herself. Given her recklessness in most of her previous attacks, it stood to reason that her HP would now be on the critical area. The rogue winced from all the pain coursing through her body thanks to the realistic pain setting she chose to make use of when fiddling with the game settings that allowed customization. Regardless of the damage received Avalon was still alive and kicking – she continued on with a relentless series of attacks against the Mycolossus while trying her best to keep advantageous positioning. Eventually the fungal boss’s health bar depleted and the colossal monster fell to the ground, becoming nothing short of a huge edible mushroom.

Relief wafted the air in the battlefield as players and npcs alike could feel the stress of dealing with such a large scale battle. Avalon felt tired, but that didn’t mean she had to rest now – in her eyes, she was fine with pressing on if any threat had to be dealt with as long as she could still move. Her response was a simple shrug, followed by a few kicks to the meaty corpe of the Mycolossus – a shame she couldn’t make it feel the same world of pain she herself felt a few moments ago. With a disappointed mix of a shrug and a sigh the woman started cutting up large slabs of the earthy meat using her cinquedeas. The cuts were rough and crude, with very little experience to back them up, though if one were to consider the current state in which the Yladian elves were they had to either do it themselves or suck it up and accept what she had to offer them.

Avalon set down the slabs of meat she herself harvested from the monster near a large and increasing pile of similar material. At this point, she realized that @Luvi Nhivasi gave her a healing vial. “Thank you. I’ll make good use of it!” As soon as she thanked the Yladian, however, Avalon could feel her tense muscles relax as healing light mended her battered up body. She swiftly called her system menus, fiddling with it until she found @Ilusa Nakhalee and sent her a direct message.

    “Thanks for the heals!”

Avalon wanted to keep it short and thank every good deed done for her. She was a beginner, but if this game had so much depth and realism to it, she should start working on gathering information and craft a proper social network with people, starting from here. When said thought crossed her mind, Avalon realized she had yet to thank the support that helped her out in the middle of battle – and much to her surprise, @Solaria was very close to her current position. She reached out to the healer to try and help her with harvesting the myclossus’ meat.

“I didn’t get the chance to thank you back there in that hellish fight! Thanks, I owe you one- no, I owe you two for helping me out twice. ”

  14. Kirito was a bit surprised when his ‘act’ attracted the attention of the Yladian woman whom he had looked at a while before. He panicked a bit as she approached him. His face was fully flushed now from sheer embarrassment that his gamer antics had made him look like a total fool. When she asked if he was okay, Kirito simply shook his head, though the moment he tried standing up, the pain from eating the boss’ sword head on earlier made him wince and elicit a pained grunt. “Oof… yeah, I’m okay, sorry to freak you out back there, I don’t know why I acted like that, I guess I saw the boss HP about to go and got disappointed I didn’t get to see if last hitting a boss gave you loot like SAO,” Kirito said, unloading a lot of meta language on @Luvi Nhivasi . When he saw the expression she gave him afterwards, he realized that she might have been an NPC and that he must have sounded incredibly extraterrestrial to her. “Ah! Sorry, I mean, nice work killing that boss!”

When she motioned for him to take and use her alchemical concoction, he quickly took the vail and dripped the liquid onto his palm before he worked it into his abs beneath his tunic. “T-thanks, I’m Kirito by the way, I hope we meet again in the future,” Kirito said as his mouth formed a smile.

After checking the region chat, Kirito saw the message of carving up the mushroom boss to take back to Astorea as food. Readying his sword, he headed toward the massive carcass, only to be stopped by a cat woman who insisted on healing him. Taking up @Ilusa Nakhalee's offer, Kirito let the light flow through him, easing the pain that he had had to endure this entire time.

Within a few minutes, the boy let out a breath of relief as the discomfort of pain left his body entirely. Rotating his arm about, Kirito made sure that everything was working properly before he turned back to the feline and said, “Ah, thank you for the heal, the wound I got hurt a lot, I still can’t believe this is all so real… or should I say surreal?” Kirito spoke vaguely, not wanting to make the same mistake as earlier when he spoke to Luvi in meta language without realizing that she was an NPC.

After their brief exchange, he went over to the fallen Mycolossus and attempted to carve its flesh with his twin swords, finding himself an excellent butcher as he expertly cut the mushroom into very easy to handled chunks. Just as he wiped his brows and looked around, he spotted Asuna. Asuna…? Asuna?! Kirito panicked as he rubbed his eyes with the edge of his palms several times. What was Asuna doing here? Thinking back to their journey thus far, it wasn’t his imagination that he spotted Asuna among the crowd earlier then.

His throat felt rather dry as he made his way to his girlfriend. While he struggled to sheathe his swords, he bumped into @Solaria , an Elven girl he conversed with from earlier. Reconizing her, he quickly grabbed onto her arm and said in a hurry, “I would love to chat with you some more, but I have a certain engagement at the moment… if you are a player, do you mind if I added you as a friend?”

After that exchange, he dashed toward @Asuna. There was a lot they needed to talk about, or so it seems.

  15. The Mycolossus fell and shortly after and so did it's minions. The fight was over. Asuna released a relieved sigh as she sheathed her rapier. She actually came out of this pretty well for just having jumped right into the event without any preparation or grinding. It was all do to her experiences, both the good and the bad. Everyone else fought hard too. This game... Terrasphere actually had a the potential to make a great full dive vrmmorpg. Hopefully that is all it would ever be. Asuna could welcome that.

Everyone had moved on to a new task. This time, gathering mushroom meat for some kind of meal. That was kind of disgusting to Asuna. It was a living giant fungus creature and now everyone was going to make it into supper? It would be a interesting challenge for her kitchen skills, after she actually unlocked them of course. So for now, all she could do was help. During which she decided to reach out to two people in particular, one was the other rapier user @Aceline De La Fontaine . Asuna remebered that for a short time they had crossed paths and the girl wanted to talk some more about the style of fighting. Asuna was not a sword instructor and really did not actively try to be, but she did want to try and make more friends in this game than in her past ventures. Asuna had to make sure she did not curl up into a shell again. Being stronger as a person was just as important as being stronger with her weapon.

"Hi. Excuse me... My name is Asuna. You did good with this fight. I doubt I could teach you anything but we um, could friend up sometime if you would like to."

Asuna felt a bit nervous. Being so open to form friends with another. It was so different from when she had a borderline elitist mentality. There was a time she would only align herself with the best players, particularly the Knight's of The Blood Oath. She had done everything she could to rise through the ranks. Now she was just another player. This was a chance for a different approach to things.

After her comment and possible short chat with the rapier user. Asuna moved on to something she needed to do. It was something that had taken far too long. Asuna turned to approach @Kirito . He was so similar... it was him without question. He was already heading her way. That was a good sign... she missed him a lot. She felt a tiny bit of wet apear in her eyes but it was not going to show. She would not let it. Not yet, especially in this crowd. Asuna broke into a run to him. Her long time partner and even husband for a short while.

There was some catching up to do...

  16. Huzzah! The day was saved, the great mushroom monster defeated. Not only would this clear the way for the exodus, but it would likely make the whole area safer for anyone who travelled through here. Well, at least until it respawned, unless it was just an event boss. Regardless, there should be no threat of mushroom spore clouds or anything for a while now. What would happen now, however, was the best part of an adventure: digging through the loot and seeing what you got. It seemed that their first bit of loot would be whatever they could harvest from the Mycolossus which…yeah, that was a little gross. Plus, rapiers weren’t exactly great for cutting thing: they were for piercing, not cutting or sawing.

Before she could try and get a little bit of it, however, she was approached by the girl from earlier, the fellow rapier user, @Asuna from the username. ”Of course. If you’re not an expert, we can learn the weapon together, she said, giving a smile to help the nerves of the girl. Without hesitation she pulled up the menu, sending her a friend request. ”There, I’m at your beck and call now, fair lady,” she said with a giggle.

With that settled, and Asuna running off towards what she supposed was another friend of hers, Aceline returned to the business of harvesting some of the Mycolossus. With a rapier. That was not going to get her a lot, was it?

  17. Boots met road as the Admiral dismounted and began to approach the colossal corpse, tearing off a chunk of its flesh and examining it with a quick bite. Satisfied that it was edible, she tossed the remainder of her chunk to one of the soldiers she had arrived with.
"Help them harvest what you're able to carry," she ordered, before turning her attention to those assembled in the clearing. The most immediately important was Grovekeeper Zawyc who she spoke with in hushed tones, nodding somberly and gesturing to his tired people. An agreement seemed to be reached and then he and the Admiral walked over to the sobbing Kyupin, who she tried to comfort by placing a hand on the felis's shoulder.
"If you would like to accompany us, the Grovekeeper and I are going to pay our respects to those that couldn't be saved, and say goodbye, with a proper burial." She lifted her eyes to Gwyn and nodded her head, indicating the huntress should join them if she wished. When Gwyn joined them, Zawyc soothed her worries over the druids and informed her that they were healing just fine.

Leaving the clearing, she, Zawyc, Kyupin and a handful of others took a few horses back to the plains on which several had been poisoned or crushed. One by one they found each body and Zawyc said a soft prayer before using his geomancy to create a grave, in which the body was placed. Then he covered the body over dirt and placed a seed on top of the mound, to bring new life from the old. Having not been present for events, when Zawyc asked if there were words others might wish to say, she placed a hand between Kyupin's shoulder blades and nudged her ever so slightly forwards to encourage the girl to speak her grief, and find some measure of peace.

"I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough to protect you. I'll train harder, and get better." Kyupin kneeled before the mound of dirt, reaching out as if to touch it. Her tears were drying. "I'll watch over them for you guys. The living. I promise." She bowed her head for a moment before risnig to her feet and slinking back to the Admiral's side.
