  1. She was starting to regret heading to the beach area she'd found on the outskirts of the woods. The forest had been a friendly place (mostly), at least for the faerin that was now trembling in the center of a mob. Creatures from the woods outskirts and the seashore had all taken an unexpected interest in her, and with just her 'walking stick' and little skill in combat so far, she wasn't really sure what to do to combat the crowd.

"W-What did I do to them? Why are they all after me?" She yelped slightly, louder than she thought she was going to- and the creatures seemed to only become more irritated from it. "U-Um, nice animals, nice monsters, nice um...What do you call things attacking you in games that will calm them down, anyway? I should've chosen beast tamer!"

She tried to wave the stick at her attackers, but found that it wasn't getting her anywhere. If anything, they were likely about to destroy it in all it's starter, trashy glory. "Please leave me be! I don't want to fight you- or rather, I don't think I CAN fight you yet! Please don't eat me!"

Yep, she should've listened to that elder that said not to wander too far from where you know...Maybe then she wouldn't be in this mess. Was there any way to get out of this safely?

  2. Venturing about Falderen as he normally did the male was doing his weekly scouting for new players. He'd do this a few times a week and also ask that his guild mates did as well. As the Heroes of Falderen, the guild had a duty to uphold not only for the Non-Player Characters but for the Player Characters as well. As such, Aaron had made it known he wanted patrols from time to time done in turns with all members through out the weeks at a given time to help aid and protect some of the new players. Ever since that CNN Report with that one chick with a huge rack, more and more players appeared. Mainly kids; rebels of sorts and folks who think they can come into this rule less world and enact upon the natural anarchy of the game. As such the Heroes of Falderen, otherwise known as [VALOR] had taken up the duty of unofficial peace keepers. Keeping not only those who PK and did many illegal and treacherous acts but also kept an eye out for the kids and made a note of certain players who may have acted in an improper manner with children or overly touchy with other players. Being a big brother and helping young children reach their potentials in sports; Aaron had a soft spot for kids and with how fucked up their regular world with coupled with how "Realistic" this world was using Violence and Sex as the main points in thier cover story. He knew certain gamers might be appearing for more malicious reasons and as such, he'd need to prevent such acts from occurring before they could manifest.

So, with his cause and a fair understanding one might also assume and understand why he was walking the path of a Paladin; his desire to protect, care for and tend to others far exceeded that of most players as such his journey, in particular, brought him ever so close to the outskirts of the forest, eyes scanning the area before him he'd wipe away some sweat; his blade a bit bloody from combat he'd grin wide and scan the area. As he motioned his way towards one of the newer players; given their lack of proper gear he'd chuckle some and make his way over noting the fair size mob she seemed to attract. Shaking his head he'd swiftly raise up his shield and sword rushing in quickly before shield bashing his way between her and the enemy. A faint smile passing as he noted her powerful stick of justice. His blade slashing away hacking at the enemy would soon create a clearing. His body like that of a wall; as he blocked what he could and slowly helped her in her quest to drop the beasts. If he could not force them to turn tail and run he'd beat them til they were no longer living. Once all was said and done the male would turn back and smile at the tiny child. A warm and gentle chuckle would pass before sliding his blade back into his shield's sheath as he extended his hand ruffling her hair. "Easy now there killer, can't go diving into fights we can't handle."

He'd tease as he crouched down as he was a fair bit taller than her as he smiled more and slowly spoke a brief prayer; chanting in the name of Tyl before leaning in and kissing her forehead. His hands Glow fading as any sustained injuries would be healed, "Alright kiddo, you're all patched up. Papa Steele has taken care of you." he'd say smiling as he pointed to his name, "If you are ever in the need of help, keep them peepers on the look out for [VALOR] Tags. All members are heroes or heroes in training and we look out for those in need. If you think you're up for the challenge and want to join the cause, feel free to join us." he'd say winking and giving her a thumbs up, "Otherwise, I'm off kiddo. Til next time. This Man of Steel has got to go." he'd say turning to wave by before bolting off once more into the wilds to search for more folks to help. Had she noted the information or truly wanted to thank the man she'd find him easily once more inside the forest on the way back to Stokbon; it'sa few hours later. The male resting briefly beneath a tree nomming on an apple. His eyes closed as he lazily relaxed seeing to his needs bar. A hum came across his lips between bites. It wouldn't take much to gain his attention as the male soon parted his eyes shifting them upon the sky, his hand reaching up to open his inventory and summon his mini pet; the shadow cat. The tiny creature of tricks. A faint smile passing as he soon rubbed units chin as he then fed it a few slices of apple.

  3. The fear on her face ebbed away as the stranger stuck himself between her and the crowd. His words haunted her slightly, particularly making it sound like she wanted that fight. He'd been in a rush, it seemed, however. As he told her all he could, giving her little time to even thank him, she was left in his aloof wake with only a faint blush upon her childish face, watching him dumbfounded.

"W-What the heck was that? Why do they make healing spells embarrassing...?"

Holding her face for a bit, she tried to take a deep breath and calm down, giving herself time and then opting to try to follow and find him. The man had confused her and given her many questions- and more importantly, she had yet to thank him for saving her.

She had so much to say, she barely noticed him as she passed him in the forest. It was the crunch of an apple that caught her attention, her small stature stopping short in her tracks. Glancing towards the sound due to being compelled to assume it might be a creature ready to pounce, her lips nearly quivered as the air in her body escaped all at once, her body slouching. Walking closer, she stood so that she could see him easily where he sat, seeming to stare at the grass by his feet to keep calm.

"You shouldn't run away so soon after saving someone. It's unfair to people who want to thank you, whether you are doing your duty or not. The fact still stands you saved me."

She knew it was rude to not look people in the eyes, and so she tried to raise her head, face read as she remembered the healing spell. It took all her willpower not to focus on that memory, instead managing to question him. "So...How come so many creatures came after me? I wasn't actually attacking any of them or even thinking of it until they surrounded me. I was just exploring...Is there something that spawns their ire that suddenly just by being near them? I was sure I was far enough to be safe before they darted at me. Then again... You're rather fast yourself. Like lightning."

  4. Eyes shifting to the girl as she seemed nervous a faint smile passing he'd remain silent and let her try to talk; her sudden voice found as she appeared to scold the male made him smile some. She was actually quite adamant about thanking him. A hand raised and waved, "Sorry, about that. Just had some things to take care of a hero's work is never done. Always tasked with something bigger and better until he dies and becomes a legend. Anyways, your most welcome kiddo. I made a vow along with my guild to look after you new players if you were in danger.

It does us no good if you all quit before we can even get a chance to play with you. The game doesn't exactly have levels so you need to acclimate and change your approach here especially with combat. I've been building a steady and balanced set up with my mastery points. Applying them in a manner which will best suit my ability to utilize my skills. More or less I am a tank, but also a support. They call me Brother Steele. Adept Paladin, working towards my expert status. But not sure yet as I've been thinking of Devoting myself to a god and reapply as Paladin of Tyl."

He said some rubbing his chin. Only now noticing how rude he was. "Snap, wow. Super rude of me. Sorry about that went off on a tangent. Not often I'll stop and talk. Been really focused on my training sessions and helping folks. Trying to gather as much coin as possible Between forming my guild helping rank us up and get us prepared for the new world boss I find myself often lost in the daze when online. So focused the world around me seems to disappear." He'd say shifting his gaze away from her, "But that's not your problem so again I apologize for being rude; come sit. Join me for a break, never forget to tend to your meters it can lead to debuffs and death if you fall unconscious."

he said pointing to the need bar his own indicating he needed some food. As he smiled he'd open his inventory once more pulling out a few more apples, "Hungry kiddo?" he'd ask offering her one. Yet as he noticed the blush he'd blush himself and rub the back of his head, "Erm...you okay kiddo, your awfully red; I'd hate for you to be sick or poisoned. Your status bar doesn't seem to show such. Ummm you're not smitten by me are you?" he'd say teasing some before leaning in some to try and catch her gaze,

"If it was about the kiss I'm sorry. I was trying to be fatherly. I figured I'd try to do such since I'm going to be one soon. My Fiance in game @Sera Phim Is actually pregnant with our child and I've been hoping to upgrade my father skills. But yeah, hope I didn't mislead ya kiddo." he said some extending his hands, "If not ignore me...the names Aaron Steele, I go by Steely or Papa Steel. Aaron is fine too. So what's your name kiddo?" he'd ask as he then shifted his attention back to her question after feeling it as appropriate to change topics.

"Well, to be honest, we are looking at a simple case of difficulty of enemy compared to your skill set. Imagine a dog. If your just a baby it will go up and investigate. If it thinks your weak and good food, you're going to aggro it. Now let's say you're better trained and appear near that same dog, it will note your trained and will be more cautious. It's just nature, Although to be fair there was a bit of a pack thing going on so they will try their luck no matter." He'd say with a warm smile before noting her last comment.

"Well that speed carried over from the real world to some degree I use to play Football in college. Defense and Offense. If my guys with the ball went down it wasn't good. So I'd provide support running with them as best I could; had a guy who could run the full 300 in less than a minute. The bastard was quick. But I did my best to keep up and protect him in the early stages of his running. But the speed also has to do with skills, mastery and general ability. I had my berserk briefly activated prior and was utilizing the movement speed boost and during the fight, you may have noticed it."

He'd say once more "So how did you hear about the game, what made you want to dive right into it and travel so far alone. My advice since the events that created Astoria, you should probably consider playing in a party; safety in numbers. Although if you are a solo player. Grab a healing skill when you can. But I'd advise again going solo. Cuz even small mobs like wolves can become overbearing when you are out numbered and they keep calling for reinforcements." he'd say as he pats her head, "So I can't imagine you came all this way to talk, whats up butter cup?"
    @Harveste

  5. "It's okay to talk a lot, but I didn't understand a lot of it. Like, what's adept versus expert level, and how does the devotion thing change that?" She smiled like a child in a candy store, eyes brimming with a curious glaze, their color matching the foliage easily seen surrounding her. "But, you should really take time to talk to people, mister Steele. I mean, it's important to keep an eye on your parameters for food and health and such, but...That's not the only important thing. This is still a game, even if it's also a second life. You need to take care of your emotional health too, and that includes having people to talk with. Even if you're an introvert you need it!"

Giggling slightly as the man pointed out the apples, she used her limber build to jump up for one, falling at his side to eat the tasty fruit. As she bit into the juicy apple, she spit out softly from being asked if she was smitten. "I-I'm naive, sure, but even I have boundaries! I'm not smitten on anyone! I don't want to start thinking of such things until I know someone a long time, you know?"

Her face was the color of the apple in her hand as she curled up into a ball. "Save fatherly acts for the baby, not strangers. It's better for their hearts and safer for you, anyway. Though...I really like your fiance's name. I love word play!"

Taking another bite, she was able to actually savor the taste as she listened to him explain what had happened to her that went wrong. "So...That crowd realized I wasn't certain and were attracted by my lack of understanding this world and the mechanisms of the game?"

He continued to tell her about how some real life things could affect you in game- and his explanation of his speed certainly explained her own lack of it. "I guess assuming a lithe build character would change my own actual ability was silly, huh?" He continued to teach her some of the things about groups and his own concern for her, his hand reaching for her head mde her already laughing figure become more lively. "It's funny, even in real life, being pat on the head makes me giddy. Maybe I should see it as a perk of being small."

"I already did what I came for. Though, you should really be careful who you call things like buttercup. Such cute nicknames should be for your wife and child. I may look like a child, but I'm already an adult. Well...I guess that doesn't apply in this world since I'm a fae. Fae have long life spans, so apparently I'd be a baby almost at the age I chose. I didn't think far ahead on that."

To be a solo player was dangerous? Well, that could be seen as bad for her, since she wasn't exactly good at starting the conversation of a party- even if she considered herself friendly online. "I don't really have plans for a party or guild yet. I just started recently, and I feel like it'd be smarter to wait until I know people before I bug them to play with me as a team. I don't really plan to be a solo player either, but..." She shook it off, thinking deeply for a moment. "You said your job is to help take care of new players, right? Could you teach me how to add people to my friends list...And maybe be my friend, too? It'll help me learn to be less solo in the future, and I'll be able to ask you if I need help, so it'd help your job too."

  6. As he spoke she was quite adamant about scolding him here and there, although her desire to learn was a bit more than the children he used to, then again one never knew who was who outside of the game so it wasn't exactly his call to assume. But he'd treat her however he needed; upon her inquiry, he'd respond accordingly, "Well there are several tiers to your mastery of any given skill. We all start beginner, work our way up to novice before becoming trained, then proficient in our mastery before reaching the adept level in what we can do after that you can become an expert and start helping others vastly. But it isn't until some time later you become a master and if you're truly dedicated to such a skill Illustrious. So ultimately the goal is to properly level your skill to such tiers. Each tier is better than the last; either for gears, skills unlocked, lower costs and so forth. My advice is for you to either focus spreading your skills evenly or go full dedication at first; at least until adept in a skill. I've been working at them all evenly but Berserk is my expert skill." he'd say boasting some, "Although I do need to be a bit more social. I'm always looking to expand upon my guild. I'm not really an Introvert, to be honest. I'm quite the opposite. Just not good with kids is all." he'd say looking to the side as she continued to give him a bit of a hard time. However watching her talk about her faults he'd smile, she was rather grown up.

"Oh, is that so, well aren't you quite the mature kid." he would tease playfully patting her head again. As he spoke and she seemed to grasp the concept mildly he'd nod, "Yeah, something like that. Oh so you like word play, then you should meet my fiance, I'm sure she'd just adore you. Pinch those little cheeks." he'd say teasing as if he was to do just that "Oh, how is that so, everyone who knows me knows I act with good intentions. Besides you said it yourself you're not smitten and you're not a stranger no more; your an acquaintance to say the least. Keep hanging around and you just might become a friend." he'd say with a wink, "Oh please, if I save all that sweet stuff for the wife and my kid only they'd become diabetic. Besides this is just how I am. I grew up having a rough childhood. Took care of my sister and teach and help troubled kids. I'm all about giving and helping. I wish to protect others but to do that they need to be comfortable with me. What better way than to bond and or become aquainted?" he asked her some poking her nose "Oh so you're not a kid, fair enough. I just enjoy teasing ya, remind me of a kid to some degree. Well, that and your reactions to a bit of harmless teasing seems to be more than enjoyable for me to say the least." he'd say honestly as he pats her head again this time leaning in some. As they continued their banter and she delved into the details of that race she chose the fabric or whatever it was he'd smile and nod.

A mini lesson was always welcomed although with his bars filling quicker and his desire to burn off some of the new acquired and teaming energy flowing from his body he'd raise to his feet standing his full 6'2 a bit shorter than most on the server; but he used his real height, unlike most who just wanted to hulk out. Sighing he'd shift his gaze to the young fearin, "So what do you say we do a bit of walking while we talk. I got somewhere to go but I am enjoying this. So let me ask you this, are you going to tell me your name; or at least what I should call you otherwise I'll stick to kiddo or call you pat for short. Ya know cuz I pat your head and you enjoy it." he said with a goofy grin as he motioned for her to follow, "So how long you been playing, why did you choose the faerin?" he asked curiously as he folded his arms over his chest some the casual conversation and walk far too simple to be on guard; especially given his power. The mobs decided to keep their distance.Raising his hand he'd note a few coming closer his menu popping up to invite her to join the party; "this should help balance our points to meet the thresh hold so they won't attack. At least; not unless combat is triggered. Then again, I think there is a set number of mobs in packs as well like the wolves." he'd say as he waited for her to join up with his party; had anything attacked however he'd snap into action."So tell me short stuff, what do you think about those who play hero. The idea and concept of a hero. I run a heroes guild; but what makes a hero to you?"

    @Harveste

  7. "Would you feel more comfortable with me knowing I'm actually an old lady in real life?" The faerin asked, her purple locks tickling her cheek as she continued to eat the messy food she was holding. "I wonder if you need napkins in this game...This is feeling just as messy as in real life. Though I don't eat that many apples...I prefer grapes and tomatoes for snacks."

Realizing she was talking bit too much about her real life, she let out a timid laugh. She played naive, but now she really felt it! Maybe she was playing the part of her character a bit too well after all?

He accepted she wasn't a child- that was a relief. That he liked teasing her wasn't anything the girl hadn't seen, making her realize even more how her real self filled her game persona. This was hard, separating two worlds! Being offered to take a walk with him, she stood up rather quickly, shocked she didn't feel ready to all from the blood rush, and smiled up at the man, stretching her neck to see him properly. Giggling, she mused, "Did you choose human or giant?'

"Ah, my bad! I can't believe I forgot such a basic bit of manners!" Scratching the back of her head, the girl stared at her feet softly, embarrassed by her own mistake. "I'm Harveste. I only found out about the game a couple days ago myself...So calling me new is far from off the mark. I chose the faerin because I based my character off of one I like to write about, who seemed to fit the faerin species best while I was making her. Small and agile, at one with nature many times..." She shook off her rambling, smiling up at him again as they began keeping an eye out when she noticedh is own guard being raised. Her rambling stopped quickly as she got the party invitation, which she took a couple moments to accept due to adjusting to the program- but her smile grew as it popped up to tell her she'd successfully joined the party.

"Heroes...Are a complicated thing to explain. Thinking of it as a writer, I think heroes and what constitutes a hero really varies based on things like cultural aspects and the moral code of a given world. Being more personal for it though...I don't know if I truly believe in heroes. At least, not the kind most people think of. While everyone wants to believe in a superhero or a knight in shining armor, I think what truly makes someoen heroic is the desire and will to help others, and a strong sense of morality. Does that make sense?"

Stretching her arms above her, finishing her apple finally including the core, she let out a deep sigh. "Actually, it's because I'm a writer that I'm fascinated by your wife's pun of a name. Though, I liked puns before I started writing. My dad was always making them."

She thought deeply- he'd mentioned his real life, so telling her own wasn't actually so bad, right? "You raised your sister, and I was raised by my father, who had a hard enough life without having me to tend to. I really admire people like you, with a strong love for their family. I could tell by when you talked about your sister you care about her deeply. In a way, I'm jealous. I'm an only child. For me, friends are as close to siblings I'll ever get...Though that's not so bad, I guess. But somehow, it feels like lack of blood really can be a deterrent at times."

After a couple moments of silence from her talkative mouth, she realized a question she should have asked sooner. "You said you had somewhere to go, right? You said it was okay for me to join you but...Where is it we're headed, anyway?"

    ( @Aaron Steele )

  8. As she spoke about her age and being an old lady he'd make a face, "Really...no. I don't believe it, your syntax is far too youthful. That and you haven't pinched my cheeks, called me a whooper snapper or made me cookies." he said some teasing back; just in case she was being legitimate. Arching a brow he'd look at her confused, "Not use to having teeth again; god you are making a mess. Here..." he'd say handing her a handkerchief and sighing, he'd never seen someone have such difficulty with a simple apple. None the less he'd listen to her vent about how she preferred grapes and tomatoes. A face was soon made "Toe-matos gross. Only good as ketchup or on spaghetti. But to each their own. Well honestly grapes are clutch and they are in the game. I think there is a farm that has them; they also seem to craft wine." he'd say smiling as if to try and make her feel a bit better. Shrugging as they continue to talk some he'd rub the back of his head. "Well I chose human; I'm just tall. Not the tallest though because the game has a cap at 6'6 I believe." he would say nudging her some, "Maybe next time don't choose an elf and we'll be fine...although maybe you should cuz elves are hot."

He teased as they continued to walk watching her stare at her feet a moment rubbing her head silently before speaking about manners, "Oh no worries Harveste. Like I said, I'm here to help the newer players and if you only heard about it a few days ago, then you are probably missing quite a few weeks worth o catching up to the game." he'd tease as he pats her head again. "Wait if you were writing about something a kin to a faerin. Did you happen to make yourself a rogue to utilize the speed and size difference? Hell could have gone archer too cuz natural hunter and so forth. What skills did you take?" he'd ask as he sent the invite and spoke of his own."I took sword and board obviously. Then I took berserk and learned Illumancy. I'm one hell of a paladin Although as heroic as I am I'm still just getting the hang of things." he'd say as he once more talked about heroes listening to her opinion. Nodding somewhat he'd rub the back of his head and agree, "Oh well I was asking because I'd love for you to join the guild. Maybe see what you think of us heroes." he'd say some poking her nose, "So what do you say, is there a hero in you?" he teased as he then continues walking ahead.

"Well if we are honest, I believe anyone has the potential to become a hero, it's just a matter of desire and motivation. A hero simply does what is right because they want to not because they should, not because it's rewarding but because they wish to make the world a better place. There are all sorts of heroes out there. Some more valiant than others but in the end what truly matters is those who do their best and try to make this world a better place. From the person who stops a bully to the person saving someone's life...heroes are just average people who endure and do what's right. Never giving up or taking the easy way out. That's why I founded the guild to gather the heroes of these land and inspire those around us, make the people realize we are there for them." Arching a brow he'd grin, "Oh so it's my wife's name that has you in such enjoyment. What is in a name, would a rose not smell just as sweet by any other name? Yeah, writing can be fun; I enjoy a good book here and there. Although I find creative writing a far more enjoyable venture." He'd say before shifting his body some stopping to look at her.

"Oh yeah. I raised her, although she's a bit of a handful. Well at least your a daddy's girl..." he'd tease some poking her forehead, "But what can I say, I'm a family guy." he'd say cheesily before trying to imitate Peter Griffon's laugh. Yet as she seemed to express further emotion he'd arch a brow, "No siblings, rough. But then again we are all related in one way or another. Diluted but relations must still exist at the core; hell in a game like this our data must share some related coding. I mean, our racial indicators are interesting enough. But this game as a whole is a mystery and freaking master piece all its own." he'd say some as he then paused hearing her question of what he was up to. "Oh, I have this task to do, some mission over by that farm with the grapes. You're more than welcome to join me. Who knows it may be fun then again we also might get grapes old lady." he teased some as he motioned for her to follow once more taking the lead as they head off towards the farmland. On the outskirts of the forest near one of the villages. It wasn't super large but a viable one. "Oooh looks fun."

    @Harveste

  9. Accepting the handkerchief, she giggled timidly as she took care in wiping her lips from the fruit juice. "I have teeth, I'm just not used to VR controls. That, and the apples here are really juicy. Juicier than one I've ever had. It's rather nice, though, that way."

She stretched as she followed him. "To me, you seem tall. I went for small to feel more like a fae, but I'm not very tall in reality either. No matter what, you're a giant to me." A tiny smile took to her face as she kept her eyes on his figure, rather than the surroundings that could potentionally trip her. "Elves do have their own appeal, but even if I'm already small, I do have a love for small and cute things. I can always make another character sometime."

"Yeah, tomatoes seem to be more of one of those 'acquired' tastes. Like coffee, or cottage cheese." The talk of food made her start thinking about getting off and eating, but she was enjoying the game too much- and she didn't really NEED to eat, just wanted to. "A daddy's girl, huh? I guess so. Dad and I do still talk regularly even if I live by myself now."

His reference to the cartoon had made her laugh, his explanation of where he happened to be headed seeming quite convenient. "So we're going to an orchard of sorts? Do you know what kind of work needs to be done?"

Her mind had been wandering so much, she had yet to answer about masteries. "Well, I'm a beginner at all of them, but I opted to take on naturamancy, rogue and magic tools. Basically, my goal was to be a nature fairy. I happen to like plants but lack a green thumb, so I figured this way I could pretend I have one for once!"

  10. As they walked and chatted among themselves he'd smile some and nudge her playfully, "Oh is that so...short stuff." he'd laugh at her reactions and continue to walk up until they arrived at the designated location. A faint smirk passed at being called a giant once more. Shaking his head he'd wave it off, "Oh please..." Laughing he'd shake his head some blushing, "Just be thankful you weren't Sera, she had to adjust to this giant body and all its limbs." he said chuckling. Yet her other words shifted and warranted some response, "Afraid, not Harveste. You can only have one account linked to your VR gear. So it's impossible to have more than a character. The creators have made it really tough; yet to hear a hacker who broke the code." he'd say bluntly. His teasing seeming to phase her little given her extreme focus on the need for food. "Oh, well at least you talk. Haven't heard from my mom since I was a kid and my father, well like I said he was a piece of shit. I've never forgiven him and I'd hope he sooner rot in hell then hear his voice again." Eyes shifting he'd rub the back of his head some, he felt bad being so aggressive and rude about it but still. His father was a real work of art.

As she laughed and they soon arrived at the destination he'd begin to walk through the land; various fruits and veggies growing all over. A small little barn with some live stock and a pen for the chicken a wide grin passed as he saw the hole in the fence and already had an idea of what was needed; "Come, let's make your first contract?" he'd say unsure if she'd ever completed a mission. None the less he'd point to the destroyed fence and smile as they soon encountered the NPC who ran the farm. Hello, adventurers, what brings you our way. It's not often we get visits from outsiders to this village unless we are being raided, someone is trying to establish a trade route or someone is looking for work. Given the lack of a cart and your weapons not yet drawn, is it safe to assume you're looking for work? If so I got a bit here and there for you to do, go ahead and start with repairing that there fence. It will take a bit of work, but I'm sure you can get it done. After that, I'll tell you your next task. Oh if you see any pesky foxes, get rid of them. They have been killing my chickens and I'm darn gone sick of it. He'd say as the male shifted his gaze to her and motioned for her to follow.

Making his way over towards the fence he'd look to it. He had two options repair it but that would take the engineering or some sort of skill. That second choice was to simply take the fence down and place up the new one. The better o the two for him he'd turn to her, "So, you want to take it down while I put it up or shall we do the that in reverse?" he'd ask curiously before getting to work. As he dealt with the fence he'd tried to keep his banter to a friendly manner, "So, short in real life, and old lady and you write books, what else do you care to share. I told you about my gym, my wife in the game and a bit about my real life. You seem to be an interesting person; a long life despite how compact you are." he said teasing. That was until he heard the cries of a chicken. Turning he'd rush forth and run towards the noise, blade raised and shield coming forth he'd jump over the chicken and slam into the fox. "Oh yeah, some combat.." he'd say feeling excited his head cocking some as he slammed the shield again blocking as he looked to the girl hopefully not too far off, "What does the fox say?"

He'd say with a grin as he'd reply, "Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!" he'd shout as he fought the small and nimble creature, finding it a bit hard to hit but when he did its health dropped quick. "That's right, come on harveste wail into them." he'd say as he stuns locked it with his shield bash. Leaving it open for her strong strike. Had she made it the two would have finished off the fox quite easily. Eyes shifting to her he'd give her thumbs up before changing his attention towards the fence as he desired to once more get back to repair it. "So, butter cup. Fox is dead, now we begin again. So, what kind of skill was that you were using earlier?"

    @Harveste

  11. "Oh? Is Sera also short offline?" Harveste was just becoming more and more curious about this man's wife- maybe even more than the man himself! She could only wonder what she would do if she suddenly became a giant as she thought it over. "This is giving me writing ideas..."

As Aaron told her a bit about code of the game, she laughed timidly. "Well, I'll be happy with what I made myself to be then. It's interesting they'd make such restrictions, but then again, the game is pretty mysterious as is, right? I mean, the messages when you find out about it say not to talk about it outside. I can't help but wonder..."

"My mom's a piece of work as well. I haven't seen her in more than half my life, nor have I spoken with her. My father is all I have really, and he's worked really hard to take care of me considering he has bad health. That's why I admire him. It sounds like you've got a rough offline life, huh? I hope you have others in your life that change that!"

Enchanted would be putting it lightly based on the twinkle in her eyes. The sight of the farmland and the animals made her tremble with cheer. When he mentioned a contract, she was confused, but the NPC gave her some good explained what they needed. She wasn't really able to get how to deal with contracts, but she was happy to help and noted it, which seemed to make the stranger smile. She was quick to reply after following, trying to come up the best way to respond.

"I'd probably find it easier to coax the old fence out than the new fence in, so your first plan is probably better. I hope you don't mind me nabbing the easier half of the job. Though...Will we be safe from the foxes ourselves? This is kind of like a three part job, after all."

She was about to reply to him about talking about themselves more when the fox came- but because she wasn't sure how to fight it off properly, she merely watched him, hoping to learn from him. "I thought the fox was supposed to jump over the lazy dog, not the man over the endangered chicken." She mused the words with a small laugh, hoping her attempt to tease the man back would work. "I wasn't using any special skill, though? Or rather, I don't know what you're speaking of. I wasn't thinking much when I was attacked, and I don't have any special combat skills. I mean, if I had a magic item I could, but I didn't think about whether I'd have one ready or not...I just kind of rushed into it, I guess."

  12. As they talked and she inquired more and more on his wife he'd rub the back of his head, "Well no, not as short as you, she is fairly normal in height I suppose, but all folks are short to me to be fair, well most folks. Anyways, I could tell you tons about her, like how her smile is as bright as the stars above and twice as inspiring. That her eyes are like that of gems, sparkling and rare. That simply looking with them makes you desire more from her; a treasure that you want to be just your own. Her hair flows like a waterfall of chocolate, beautiful and endlessly. Her skin is kissed just right by the sun leaving it the most beautiful tan. Her figure is like that of a goddess, her body a temple you just want to pray to all night long..." he'd say before blushing, "Yeah...long story short. She's short, a beauty and as a soul only comparable to a saint; so the name Seraphim is fitting of an angel just like her." he'd say some rubbing the back of his head. As they continued to banter about the game he'd laugh, "It's not all that mysterious this game is technically illegal software and not up to the legal standards and practice; it's never been cleared and certified. Technically if anyone dies from it nothing you can do and it could be one bad patch that slaughters thousands or gets us stuck in the game. They honestly just want to avoid another Sword Art Online incident." He'd say being honest and blunt with why it's so frowned up to even discuss it, let alone get deeply into a conversation about it and discuss it like it isn't an enigma. That's self-incriminating in itself and few were that foolish.

But she probably knew all that so he wasn't going to bust her chops about it let alone truly bother her in hopes to push the matter if she didn't he wasn't going to be responsible nor tell others how to live their life but he would shift his gaze some, "Just be careful who and where you discuss this game about or with..." he'd say hoping she might take the hint. His conversation with her about offline life seemed to shift the topic some and he'd sigh, "I do have better people in my life now, but my past is what made me into who I am today, can't help but to pay respect and thank all those who helped; even the bad in life can help influence good. It's an unintended consiquence, but it's not always a guarantee. Some people who been through rough things, tend to fall into it and become what created them. Where others, they fight against it, use their wills to desperately become the opposite of what they dealt with." he said as he'd shift topics once more to the farmland as they arrived, "Yeah, lets go ahead and do that." he'd say as he worked on the fence with her. It wouldn't be long into their work the fox ordeal had become a thing. But it wouldn't last long as he made quick work of it with her help or what seemed to be an attempt to help. None the less he'd chuckle at her and sigh, "Alright time to work on the fence again." He'd say his body shifting as he let her remove the fence and he hammered it back into the ground; causing it to become new and updated. A few passing chickens he'd sigh, "Now I think it's time we gather up these birds before the foxes have a really nice snack." A faint smile passed as he nodded her to move along.

Making his way forth he'd head off to gather as many chickens as he could. Taking one then another and put a few under his arms before dropping them off into the new pen. It wouldn't be but a half hour before most were found however a few loud cries were heard when the foxes appeared again chasing down the chickens. Rushing forth with his blade he'd slice up into them as he wailed into the beasts. His shield bashed again and again; thud, thud. Like a bell ringing the cows home, a few of the villagers seemed to come and watch in awe. As he made quick work of the foxes, either slaying them or making them run off he'd walk over and use his healing upon the chickens; testing the limits and it worked. A wide grin crossed his face as the crowd spoke in shock, "MAGIC! He Healed Them He's a healer from the gods." he'd turn to look back as they cheered and a child with a broken leg came by to check up on them. Hey mister, can you fix my leg? he'd ask Steele as he turned to look at the boy, "Not sure kiddo, but I'll try." he'd say as he rubbed his hands together and spoke, "In the name of Tyl, the almighty god of justice, lend me your aid and heal this poor boy of the injustice of a broken leg..." he'd say his hands glowing green as the boy's leg began to glow. The bone resetting and healing thanks to his skill and the crowd going wild. A few more rushing over for aid he'd wave his hands, "Now now, folks I can help you all. Just let me finish my work with your good farmer...but if you all lend a hand...I can get towards your needs quicker." he'd say knowing it would cause them all to rush and help; the farmer crying for joy.

  13. The man's romantic view of his wife was endearing, though even Harveste found it a bit embarrassing to listen to. However, in her subconscious, she made sure to take notes of his medley of description towards his beloved- it would surely be helpful in a story sometime soon. "Sounds like the kind of person I'd like to meet someday." Her words had taken time to come out, likely from her mental process taking control to keep the words earlier in mind.

"I wasn't really sure if it was legal or not. I mean, it was kind of strange, since it was a mysterious link and all that...But I figured it was just not well known, since I tried looking it up and didn't find much of anything, if at all. I wonder if the police're gonna knock at my door for playing...Eh, the police in my state mostly focus on traffic. I guess I should be fine."

Of course, the reasoning made sense, she noted to herself- the SAO incident had been major in news, to the point even a hermit, who had wanted to play it from the beginning but was unable to, was almost relieved by her bad luck. "I'm just relieved people got out of that incident safely. To be honest, I'm still a bit jealous I never got to play, though. It looked like such fun when I was waiting for the game's release. It was also easier to talk about than this game. It's good I don't go out much in real life. Not many people to talk to about it anyway, y'know?"

Laughing a bit, she listened to him happily as he noted the change in his life, even if his sigh had felt discouraging. He'd brought up a very mature viewpoint about the way good and bad experiences intermingled, making it clearer to her that he was probably an adult in reality as well. "Life is mysterious that way," was all she could say in response.

The fence work was difficult, but it was actually easier in some ways than chasing after the scattering chickens. The ones she made sure to catch seemed mostly at ease with her, possibly thanks to being a Fae or because she was studying naturamancy. Whatever the reason, she was more than happy to let one of the chickens perch on her head while the rest were rushing around- especially since at least that oen kept itself safe there.

Hearing the crowd that roared of magic, Harveste turned to watch the man she'd deemed a titan- and was now being called a godsend. As he talked the locals into helping with the fence, the farmer's crying lead her to wander to him, smiling and holding the chicken from her head up to him. "The chickens probably wanted to help too. See?" The chicken tried to wipe some of the tears away from the farmer's eyes.

"Animals can feel our love, and they can reciprocate it too. It must be hard for them, not being able to show it with words like we can. That's why they do their best in their own ways...Just like we do for them. These chickens all know your love, don't you think? And that makes this place even more wonderful than it already is."

  14. As they spoke and she seemed to enjoy his endearment. He'd smile some as they talked more about the legality of the game and her brief opinion on SAO. This was when he'd share a look of shock. Had she really envied those stuck in a game of life and death; she wanted to risk her life or those of others. She nearly died to those low-level beasts here in this game. How long did she expect to last in the other? Sure they may have been a nice written piece and some fancy book as a writer to express her experience in the game; assuming she lived long enough to experience it. His eyes shifting some his lips would part, "Are you insane? You'd honestly rather have been the one trapped in a game of life and death....alright. You want that experience, I'll give it to you. From this point onward in our friendship, you're not allowed to die, ever. If you die in the game ever then you can never log back on. For any reason, never make contact again and have to swear off this game forever." he'd say some his arms folded almost angry having to say it, "That kind of experience, that kind of ideology is foolish. You barely survived today; do you think you'd have been fine."

Sighing he'd continue, "It wasn't a game, it wasn't some memoir for a cheap thrill. These were lives lost, people died in that hell hole and you wanted to experience it. Your father...how would he have felt if he lost you....again."Shaking his head, "I get your reasons if not the logic, but I disagree with your desires." he'd say some shifting his view before returning to his work with the fences after scolding her some. As he finished the fence only to go off into combat and by the time it ended and the sudden rush of folks claiming aid from the paladin it wouldn't be long before they too aided in his cause for their own need. But it wouldn't be long into it that he'd turn to see the crying farmer and the fae trying to comfort him. A faint smile passing he'd slowly try to help heal a few folks here and there. The praise and aid spreading quick as the job that needed to be done were completed and the farmer cheered with glee. A warm smile passing he'd finish up helping the others he'd promise before poking @Harveste in the forehead and smiling, "So what now short stuff. We are free to claim our reward and such."

He'd say pointing to the farmer who went off to collect his coin and pay them.Eyes shifting he'd look to harveste. "So, we are done with that task and I'm sure if you asked nicely he'd toss in some grapes for the trouble." he'd say some trying to smile, hoping she'd forgiven him for his scolding; then again what would one expect for a father figure. As he sighed hoping she would be okay with how things were he'd pat her head some, "Well I think this might be where we part ways little one. Although send me a friend request and when we meet up again we can hang; maybe I'll get sera to come and join us." He'd say as he started to walk away, "A nice little group meeting and hang out, how does that sound? Unless you want me to stick around as your body guard, maybe at least until we get back to stokbon?" he'd ask curiously as he stood there waiting with his arms crossed? His attention focused on her, yet at the same time, he wanted to get moving. The farmer returning to pay them and a small child hugging him thanking him for the leg earlier. A faint smile passed as he sighed and turned to look at her. "You should really consider being a hero. You touch so many lives and in such simple ways."

  15. She felt a bubble of air caught in her throat- she'd only heard the early parts of the reports. Comas were one thing, death was another- she'd seen comas, and while it had scared her, she didn't really feel like that would surprise her family at all if it happened to her- issues that lead to such a thing were a family trait, or so she was aware. If anything, she was already shocked she'd never been in a coma.

It was when he explained the true depth of the matter that she started to tear. She tried to rub the salty water out of her eyes with her arm, but it was hard to do when she was busy with the fence- something that was equally hard to work on when her eyes were hard to keep open.

After she'd calmed down enough herself to help cheer up the farmer, she found he tried to do the same for her- he didn't know what she was tearing for, naturally, but that he even tried was enough to make her happy. As she was starting to simple talk with him, the job was soon done- and was being poked for attention by the man, who she quickly hugged onto.

"I'm sorry for what I said. I was wrong to think the way I did. Thank you for showing me that." She smiled up to him, letting go quickly. The hug was simply a show of adoration or thanks, but even she knew that extending it would be a silly thing to do.

When he talked about the reward, she shook her head a bit. "He's done a lot for me without even trying, the last thing I'd want to do is ask for more. He's so nice, the farmer. I just hope he'll let me come play with the animals again- they're sweet as he is." The moment he noted to add him as a friend, she was quick to do so.

"Thanks again for all the help! I look forward to meeting you again- and your Sera, too. I don't mind how we go about it. The bodyguard idea, as tempting as it probably should be with what's happened, I'll pass on. I want to work hard to learn to protect myself. It's only after that that I'll even think about trying to be a hero. I mean...If I can't protect myself, I can't actually protect others. Even if I could touch someone, it doesn't mean I can help save them from whatever it is that's troubling them, whether it be monsters or their own self. I need to work hard to be able to do more in general, first. This way, I can help a lot more people, don't you think?"
