It had been awhile since the dancing circle of fishmen had vanished without a trace with their precious shiny prism shard. No one on the Island knows what happened. They had just appeared one day after a fierce storm. Then poof, were gone just like that. Stories went a small group had attacked the fishmen and claimed the shard. However no one knows who or if the rumor is even true. Maybe the sea monsters simply returned to the sea?

Unfortunately, things for those thinking it was safe to go back into the water have turned bleak. Another sea monster has washed ashore... and this one is of immense proportions! A huge fish with a mutated appearance is chasing away or straight up swallowing any trespassers on the beach. It's body is easily the size of a tall elephant and as long as two. It's massive side fins, acting like claws are allowing it to move surprisingly well on the sandy soil. Sometimes when it's mouth opens, one can see a shiny glimmer inside. People are wondering if it is related to the previous sea monster problem... but really who cares when a giant fish is eating people?

Removing this over sized fishy is the task at hand.

    Posting Rules:
    • Minimum of 100 words and max of 400 words, excluding the OOC stuff.
    • Only one reply from each character per cycle. A cycle ends with a DM post.
    • Follow the DM instruction every cycle.
    • Max Party is 3. You enter thread you are in the party. People may join if a slot opens.
    • You may leave whenever you wish.
    • Anyone who dies/flees cannot return to this event. If Party is wiped event ends in failure.

    Modifiers & Actions

Note: All status effects last 3 turns unless otherwise stated.
Damage Reduction: Medium and Heavy Armor only (Fully outfitted Heavy does not suffer to push back).
    • -1 HP for each poor armor piece
    • -2 HP for each blue armor piece
    • -3 HP for each green armor piece

    Energy Cost: Subtract 5 EN
Reduction: Subtract 3 EN if you are equipped with a Magical Tool that helps with energy.

Highest mastery gets +5 per mastery tier excluding Beginner; +10 for Expert.
Or if you used Aeromancy or Hunting gets +10 per tier excluding Beginner; +20 for Expert.

Also a bonus for each weapon tier (dual wield accepted), +1 for gray,+2, blue, +3 for green etc. Example: Dual wield with one gray and one blue = +3.

You may choose ONE action per turn along with moving (unless slowed, in which case you can only move or do a action).

Reckless Attack: (10 EN) You attack with abandon, doing more damage but expose yourself to more danger. Roll d100 and add appropriate modifiers THEN, add +50. If hit by enemy on next cycle, you will receive 2x damage.

Berserk: Only for characters with Berserk. You must subtract 10 EN when you enter Berserk the first time, on top of the energy cost of your chosen attack. Roll d100 and add appropriate modifiers, then ADD whatever amount your mastery says below certain HP threshold.

Taunt: (cost 10 EN) Attract the attention of the target to prevent it from targeting other zones. Roll d100 and add appropriate modifiers, then divide the result by 2. Chance of success is based on hidden several hidden factors.

Guardian: (cost 20 EN) Requires Heavy Armor and all armor slots filled to use this powerful ability to cut damage next cycle by half for everyone in your zone. You may not roll.

    Support Mastery
If you had Naturamancy, Illumancy, or Muse, you may cast perform one of the following actions instead of rolling to attack on your turn.

Pick one of these actions to do, you can flavor it however you want. Support spells scale off of support mastery.

Single Healing: base 5 + 3 per mastery tier (excluding beginner, but +7 for Expert and Mastered) = final heal amount.
    • Cost: 2 EN per tier (including beginner).
    • Note: You can heal with any tier below your current level to converse energy.
    • E.g. Adept Heal: 17 HP / costs 10 MP.
    • Note: Tag the person you are healing and write the amount.

Group Healing (max 3 targets): base 5 + 3 per mastery tier (excluding beginner, but +5 for Expert and Mastered) = final heal amount divided by 3 (Round up).
    • Cost: 3 EN per tier (including beginner).
    • Note: You can heal with any tier below your current level to converse energy.
    • E.g. Adept Heal: 17/3 = 6 HP for 3 people / costs 15 MP.
    • Note: Tag the people you are healing and write the amount.
Barrier: (10 ENt) Reduce damage to 1/2 for all allies in the target zone or whole field by 1/4 damage, for the next cycle.

Offense Up: (10 ENt) Buff offense for all allies in the target zone by your support mastery bonus (+3 per mastery tier excluding beginner, +7 for expert) for 3 cycles, or for whole field for 1 cycle.

Speed Up: (10 ENt) Boost speed for all allies in the target zone (allows moving 2 spaces without counting as full action) for 3 cycles. or for whole field for 1 cycle.

Revive: (costs 20 EN) Revive someone and put them at 20 HP and 40 EN, with no Death Affliction. One use per Support per event. No character may be revived twice.

Rest: (No cost) you rest, recovering 15 EN.

Passive Regeneration: (no cost - passive) +0.5 EN for every light armor piece and magical tool per tier (round up). This happens automatically at the end of every action the user does.

    Map
You must keep track of your character's position at all time. The rule is that you can only move 1 space per turn (diagonal counts as 1) unless you are speed buffed.
    • Moving to a new zone does not cause you to lose your action (unless slowed).
    • All characters may select one zone, 6, 7, or 8 on their first turn as their starting point.
    • Melee masteries may only hit adjacent zones (this includes diagonals).

  4. What was with the bizarre monsters? She'd heard from others about the giant mushroom, but here she was...Standing before a giant fish?! When she'd talked to Ozwind about going on a sea adventure together, it wasn't exactly what she had in mind. On the other hand, after their previous encounters...Maybe it wasn't so shocking to have ended up meeting here of all places.

A low groan escaped her. This wasn't what she had in mind. Harveste was horrible at boss battles! Sure, she could probably stop the fish with her nature magic, but there was only so much that could do! Looking through her menu, she noticed she had some options. "Woah, I can do some of this...even without being a healer?"

It looked as if luck was finally on her side. Swiftly, she chanted a magic code of some sort, working to boost the power of those fighting the giant fish. "That should help you out some!" Internally, she couldn't help a gurgling in her stomach. "Great...Now I want sashimi."

  7. Gwyn was not a large fan of the sea. It stretched on forever, a gaping maw full of nothing but teeth and, well, nothingness. It was nothing and everything like the wilds she called home. Where there great trees brushed the heavens and wild beast ran between their trunks, below were deep crevices teeming with horrific and unknowable creatures. She felt the call to the glory and the gore of the hunt, but not here. Not until now. The distant shape of something odd rising from the briny foam baited her in. Gwyn pulled her longbow from her back and, adhering to the habit she had formed, plucked the string to test it. The solid hum was soothing and she grinned as she moved to meet her new prey with her teeth bared in a wild snarl and the teeth of her arrows sent flying.

    Swallowtail Shot

The cruel arrow bent and curved until it formed a wicked twin-tailed shape. The foul thing was made to bleed and a favorite of the archer. The massive fish was indeed an enemy of great size, but that only meant a larger target with more blood to spill. The Hunting mastery offered keen insights through the Investigation Mode that lit her eyes an unearthly white and the huntress flexed her grip on the bow. This was sure to be fun. Already the buff of another player added an extra bite to her attacks. There was only upwards to go.

  10. HAHAHAH Finally!

Ozwin was laughing with a bit of an overexcited glint in his eyes. A sea monster! An honest to goodness sea monster came and met him on the shore! The gods of this game world had to be smiling upon him! Who would have believed that his first sea monster fight wouldn't be in the sea itself. Pulling out his trident from behind his back he felt the rush of excitement and nervousness hit him all at once... It was rather big wasn't it?

Rather the thing was huge... quite easily the biggest creature he had witnessed in the game. He had little doubt that the thing could squish his head easier than a warthog could crush a tomato can.

Licking his lips nervously, rather than rushing and stabbing the fish recklessly he began chanting an aeromancy spell that caused an arc of electricity to dance around the prongs of his trident before it bolted at the fish.

The giant mutant fish sees itself being attacked and takes the blows fairly well with it's scaled hide. It's mouth expands into a large cavern as it sprays some very painful bubbles across the field! One may see the shimmer of the object inside it's mouth. However it would quickly close it once again hiding the object once more.

  14. Man that hurt! This was one tough fish, meaning eating it might not be the best solution after it was down. The buff before wasn't that strong, of course, but it probably would help again. However, with how much bite this beast had, there was something else that worried her- and it was a far greater concern than damage, for the moment.

She wanted to try something different, something that might help more than her minor offensive aid. "I'm not very strong, but I can at least keep them from dying quickly..."

Chanting, she created a slight force field- a barrier, that while not hindering them, could hopefully help ease the pain for the others after the fish's next move.

  17. Gwyn would have startled if the cheering laughter from the third to their little party hadn't alerted her to his presence before the bolt of lightning shot by toward the giant fish. She glanced over her shoulder and caught sight of the light in his eyes. Another hunter perhaps? Or at least some folk who heard the song of battle beating in their blood. That she could get behind, that she could appreciate. Anyone who could stare down a beast with awe and challenge in their gaze was as close to kin to her as her battle companion tames. Sadly, it looked like he had joined them just in time for the Giga Fish to attack. The bubbles looked harmless enough, but when they popped they stung something foul and she hissed a breath between her teeth and recoiled. A real fight it was to be then!

She gave her own laugh as she readied her next attack. The small support character who had emboldened their attacks previously now switched gears. As the barrier went up, Gwyn smirked. If she was going to defend them then perhaps the archer could afford to play it a little riskier. Opening up her stance and settling her footing for power over mobility might come around to bite her in the ass, but at least it'd be fun.

    Scatter Shot

The single arrow shot above the barrier and arched over the back of the huge fish. With a flash, it shattered. Where there was one, the sky became dark as they multiplied into a volley. The sharp points of the arrowheads speckled the back of the boss as they fell, only a few hitting sand or water instead.

  20. What were these bubbles made out of?! It was really at this moment Ozwin decided that he should invest in upgrading his armor mastery and equipment in the very, very near future. Yesterday would have been best. He was also starting to question some of his decisions, such as separating himself from Harveste and the much better equipped player over there due to making Harveste do more wide range buffs... But he was also afraid if he got closer to them that the monster would be able to perform a more focused attack... Still they didn't seem to have hurt the beast all that much... Ahh better not to worry about something he wasn't even sure was possible and just burn that bridge when he got to it! Wait that phrase didn't seem right.

That aside he ran over near the others, performing a roll and shooting another bolt of Aeromancy at the big ugly fish... This thing better be delicious!

Giga Fish's body stiffens for but a second before it suddenly charges forward on it's spiky side fins that push it forward at a alarming rate. It lowers it's head and like a bull launches it's attackers over it's head far to the other side. Causing them to crash into the ground.

It is currently facing away from the party. If they strike fast enough (this cycle). They will get a +25 to all attack rolls.

  22. The charged was, suffice to say, both entirely unexpected and entirely expected. She had known in advance that her choice of a reckless and wild volley could have bitten her in the ass and so when fate inevitably did that? Well, what could be done? Nothing if she was honest. The woman landed hard in the sand as they were all tossed like ragdolls, but was quick to roll back to her feet. It wasn't the first or the last time she'd be weathered down to this point.

A quick glance at either of the two new characters had her smiling. They didn't have much under their belt and her presence felt... cheapening in a way. They deserved a good fight and not the hand-holding of someone as high leveled as her. She had gotten her shots in and weakened the monster with their help. Letting the others have their earned glory was an acceptable defeat of sorts. Plus, it would be insulting to take the glory of victory away from another so enraptured by the thrill of the hunt! The Aeromancer seemed quite set on this particular mark. With a wry smile she stood and dusted the wet sand from her armor. "Alright, alright. I'm not the only one who wanted a shot at this guy. I'll let someone else take up this fight." The archer tucked away her longbow and gave them both a casual salute in farewell, "Good luck on your hunt!"

  25. Whatever this creature was, it wasn't the strangest thing to ever come out of the sea. But at the moment, it most certainly was the most dangerous thing in the area. Attracted by the noise of battle, Ash had wandered over to the beach out of curiosity. She watched with wide eyes as the fish-like beast charged a group of 3, knocking them all into the air. That was bad!

Ash quickly scrambled down to the seaside as she ran over to where the small group was fighting the beast. The archer appeared to be hit with the brunt of the charge, and she bowed out of the fight with a salute towards her companions. They weren't looking very good either.

She ran in, already chanting a spell as she ran. As she slid into place directly behind the beast, wooden spikes grew out of the shore, piercing through some of it's scales. That looked like it would hurt, but it wasn't enough to put it down. And out of breath from her wild sprint, the thorns didn't last very long either, withering away and leaving the ground safe once more.

Ash turned her head to look behind her, calling out, "Are you all right?!" to the other two.

  28. Damn Fish! Thanks to Harveste's Barrier the damage wasn't as bad as it could have been but they were down quite disorganized... Still he was grinning ecstatically. THIS! This is the whole reason he wanted to play this game! He nodded at the ranger who was making their departure, they had taken quite a bit of damage in that last attack after all and were looking terribly rough.

"Alright @Harveste we need to get out of it's path, if you want to leave the fight I understand, but otherwise follow me and throw up a barrier, a focused one, you are the most important person on the field as far as I know! Oh! Ashoire it has been a while!" Ozwin rolled to the side doing his best to keep on his toes and charged up yet another bolt to launch. "Been better, been worse, never been happier!" He grinned as yet another good hit landed on this over-sized sushi plate... Ah he didn't care he would probably die here, this is what he wanted all along! The thought made him laugh heartily as he glared excitedly at the fish.

  31. Ozwind's careful planning seemed helpful, and it was probably logical to follow it. Rushing next to him, she set up her barrier, but not long after did she notice Ashiore- a familiar face, or rather, another one. Smiling, she called out, "Thanks for the help, Ash!"

Smiling softly, she turned to Ozwind, keeping the barrier steady after casting it. "I can't do much else, but I can at least do this much. There's no way I'm going to run away, at the very least not yet. I still have some health. I should at least be able to handle keeping you safe one more round..."

Giga fish turned back around and would try to waddle towards it's now divided hunters but Ashiore was in the way! Creature did not attempt to hunt the weakened targets. Luckily it lacked a human's level of strategy. It gurgled a little as it's fish eyes rolled into it's head from the growing pain of their attacks. They were starting to wear it down! It gurgled even louder as it lowered it's body and then launched itself as high into the air as it could go, which was not that high, and slammed back into the beachy ground causing a tremor and shock wave all around it's huge bloated body.

  35. Stun: Targets may ONLY MOVE OR ACTION next cycle

The enormous slam attack almost knocked her off her feet. As it was, she stumbled a few steps back. Even that brief movement was enough to unbalance her, and she had to wait for a while for her vision to clarify again. Oof, that stung something fierce.

But it looked like the fish wasn't attacking- ah, that was Ozwin and Harveste, two people she had met before. Glad to see them safe--well, not really see, considering that everything still looked a bit fuzzy for the moment, but you got the idea--Ash smiled in relief. They looked rather roughed up when Ash had first stepped in, so it was for the best that they weren't taking the brunt of the fish's attacks. The creature didn't seem that bright, so hopefully if Ash remained where she was, it would stay focused on her.

Not like moving was an option for her at the moment, considering how jelly-like her legs felt.

Here's one spell she hadn't tried before. Green energy lit up around her hands as she traced out the incantation and she watched a large plant with a gnashing bulb emerge out of the sand. The flower bud twisted and split open like a pair of jaws, and it spat a glob of acid at the fish. Immediately the sound of sizzling filled the air, and Ash smiled in satisfaction.

"I'll keep it distracted!" she called out to the others. "Don't worry about me, I've got the health to spare!"
