Winter is Coming

If you have been lodging at the makeshift camp within or near the ruins of Castle Dormont, you would have been kept up to date on the current situation regarding Astorea. After defeating Mycollossus and harvisting its flesh, the players were able to resupply the food reserve for a lot of Yladian and players who chose to stay in Astorea. However, the problem of housing never went away and has become more pressing as autumn is nigh. It has been an incredible challenge for the refugees who had just arrived to set up temporary shelters to protect themselves against the natural elements. This is mostly due to the lack of funding, expertise, and raw materials.

At some point in time, you would have received a private voice mail that King Astor sent out en masse to everyone in the region.

Greetings,
As you might have guess, the political situation between the player and the lander nations are heating up. We are pretty much embargoed from a lot of the services and goods that come in and out of Falderen.

As of now, we’re also having a lot of difficulty with trying to get the refugees settled in with some temporary housing since the oracle predicted that we’re encroaching on a nasty winter soon. Preparation to fix up the castle and building up the surroundings is more important than ever.

For now, I think our biggest priority should be to rebuild the keep and get started con construction around the castle. As your king, I would like to expand Castle Dormont into Dormont City, a castle town. Now in order to do that, we’re going to need a large capital.

With the power vested in me as the one who has divine right over this land, I will gladly give land to anyone who is willing to contribute gold to our cost. We need as much money as we can get so we can attract services from Falderen or elsewhere as well as being able to afford raw construction materials. You can deposit gold with Yulan’s treasurer anytime you want.

Anyone who donates a fair amount will be given land of their own, either away from Dormont or within the castle or the castle town themselves. _____At the current time my amount of gold is rather down due to spending a great deal of my time away from the grand scheme of things in a small village. If I am able to amass five hundred gold I can send it your way at a later date but outside this I can offer a hand with the rebuilding, construction, and cultivation.

_____Currently my masteries are not of anything extreme but I posses Artisan, Engineering, and Cultivation. Should you require my services in any of these fields I have already begun my travel to Dormont castle, though my sense of direction and map reading is far from perfect I should reach there eventually with both my donation gold and masteries refined from practice along the way.

We've run into each other a couple of times, but I don't know you any better than you know me... but I'll be honest with you. I'm not a huge fan of this player nation thing. This isn't our place, it's not our world, and we aren't their people. They deserve family, friends, and leaders who don't live with only one foot in this game. We shouldn't really get a say in how things go, but the Yladians don't deserve to suffer because humans are as racist in game as they are back home.

So, I'll chip in. Not for you or you crown, mind you, but for the people of this world who've found themselves under your wing. I wouldn't mind a guaranteed empty stable for any mounts or tames of mine, but that's a secondary benefit here.

You do right by those NPCs or we'll have something a lot sharper than words to exchange, King Astor.

I don't have much gold left unfortunately, but I've been staying with the refugees and trying my best to help where and when I can, particularly with naturamancy. I can also contribute artistic skills. Of course, if I can earn some money I'd be happy to donate as well.
