The Admiral would push on alone(?) as the rest of the party one by one were dropping from the roster. She was very deep into the cave now and the sounds of approaching monsters were growing louder. Apparently a lone target would make for a quick meal for the local worms, rats and other sentient substances down here.

@Roland Rutledge is out of dungeon unless he posts again.

  2. Roland rolled his eyes at Admiral's comments. He wouldn't argue with her, he could tell that would be pointless, the woman would do what she wanted to do from the get go regardless of what anyone said. To think that at one point she was asking for direction was slightly absurd. It really didn't bother Roland though, the fatigue from the previous floor, combined with the lack of a fourth, and now third party member made his choice clear, "If that's your choice so be it." Roland called out, while bringing up his in game interface, "I don't want to hear complaints when you die, it's not my fault you continued from this point forward. That said I'll try to scrounge up a few people outside and see if we can't catch back up after a quick rest." with a few quick button presses Roland logged out.

  5. A shrug and a wave was tossed in Roland's direction as he went the way of the others and left the sewers, leaving her the sole occupant, so far as she could tell. There could very well of course be more drunken hobos like the one Noah had described meeting, but she seriously doubted that would be a situation she couldn't handle. Likewise, a few worms and slimes hardly meant it was time to make a full retreat from things. They had quite literally just set foot on this level when ambushed, and a failure to work together had resulted in some pretty avoidable injury here and there. The lion's share of her own wounds however were from the level above, where the the narrow corridors of stone were filled with deadly gases and dripping caustic goo. She had yet to encounter anything here that would require her to tuck tail and run. She couldn't comprehend why everyone else had given up so easily.

As Roland had just proven, you could log out at any point to avoid danger. So why not press on a little further and see if it bore some sort of fruit?

Well, whatever their reasons, they were all gone now. Focusing on the sewers ahead of her, the Admiral picked up one of Roland's glowing potions he had thrown out to illuminate the place. She tied one to her belt and took the other in her left hand, keeping her hammer out and ready in case another fight suddenly broke out. Her progress was slow and marginally safe, avoiding a few hazards in the dark that she would have stumbled right into if she'd run on ahead. She skirted a few open pits that descended like wells into darkness, from which she had no doubts the worms had come. Pools of black goop that were obviously more slimes were walked by casually, as they rested in their filth and were undisturbed by her and a loud herd of team members.

Alone and deep beneath the city. The Admiral ventured through the hollow and slimy cavern. Undeterred... until the lone target finally attracted the hungry blood sucking worms to what they might have felt was a feast just for them down in this foul place. It was so many... completely unafraid due to their numbers.

Would the Admiral survive? If she were to make it... would she have proved she did not need Yulan?

  9. The mass of worms slithering towards her merely caused the Admiral to scoff in amusement and derision, satisfied at least that they were not slimes which would have proved a truly daunting task. Instead it was merely a large swarm of slithering and slimy monstrosities with teeth that hungered for her blood. But that was okay, because she had gotten plenty of experience working with spineless things in the guild.

Setting the light carefully upon the ground she drew out her second hammer and began to twirl them each in hand, waiting for the beasts to slowly converge towards her. She was not athletic like others. She couldn't dance between them and fly from one to the next while they were spaced apart, and if she tried to do so, then she would merely get surrounded. Instead she did the only practical thing she could and held her ground, watching and listening both for the slow encroaching of the beasts as they writhed in her direction. Two leapt up towards her chest and throat and she immediately slapped them away with her hammers, sending them into crumpled heaps across the cavernous corridor of the sewer. They moved no more, and with a smirk of satisfaction she watched the rest of them come her way, prepared to take a few bites if that was what it took to advance.

"I'm going to kill someone if there's nothing but trash down here," she purred at the worms as they inched closer and closer. "But I suppose that would be in keeping with my luck, wouldn't it? Don't you hiss at me. Judgemental son of a bitch..."
Man. She was definitely losing it, but she blamed her insanity on the total lack of kinship she had in the game. Gwyn was a close friend, but couldn't stomach the politics and maneuvering that she herself enjoyed so much. Roland... well, he'd turned into whatever he was now, just like she'd turned into what she herself had become. He a bastard, she a bitch. There weren't really any others she considered herself close to. Akino had vanished. Steel was still the literal worst Non Player Character in existence. And that was in a world with Triad...
    She needed friends.

  12. Disease

The next wave of worms came and fared far better, managing to actually lunge and latch with their hungry maws on the moderately armored Admiral. The poor quality of most her armor did nothing to deter their vicious bites, leaving blood seeping from wounds as she beat them off and slammed them into the ground with her hammers. The broken links of chain fell to the floor of the sewer and she growled in frustration, wishing she'd gotten that one last heal from the runt before the kid had just run off with Roland. Leave it to a guild to provide no fucking support for its members.

Fine. She would build her own guild, and make it totally unlike the others. None of COVEN's ego stroking. Non of YULAN's posturing and popularity contests. None of VALOR's... what the fuck did they even do these days? She pushed the pain from her mind and tried to focus on more enjoyable thoughts...

Thick gilded armor and polished flanged maces. Bright morning stars good for bashing in faces. A moat and bailey with a fine stone keep. Those were a few of her favorite things...

Forty white horses, with forty fine soldiers. Imposing towers as siege weapon holders. Possibly a dragon on which to take wing. Those were a few of her favorite things...

When the sky crash. When the earth rend. When the world be crazed. She'd just think about all of her favorite things... and set the whole world ablaaaaaaaaze.

    Don't ever laugh
    As a Hearse goes by
For you may be the next to die
    They wrap you up
    In a big white sheet
From your head down to your feet
They put you in a big black box
And cover you up with dirt and rocks
    And all goes well
    For about a week
And then your coffin begins to leak
And the worms crawl in, the worms crawl out
The worms play pinochle on your snout
They eat your eyes, they eat your noes
They eat the jelly between your toes

A big green worm with rolling eyes
Crawls in your stomach and out your eyes
Your stomach turns a slimy green
And puss comes out like whipping cream
You spread it on a slice of bread
And that's what you eat when you are dead
And the worms crawl out and the worms crawl in
The worms that crawl in are lean and thin
The ones that crawl out are fat and stout
Your eyes fall in and your hair falls out
Your brain comes tumbling down your snout

And the worms crawl in, the worms crawl out
They crawl all over your dirty snout
Your chest caves in and your eyes pop out
    Your brain turns to sauerkraut
They invite their friends, and their friends too
They all come down to chew on you
And this is what it is to die, I hope you had a nice goodbye
Did you ever think as a Hearse goes by
That you might be the next to die
And your eyes fall out and your teeth decay
And that is the end of a perfect... day

Slamming the worms away as they came, the Admiral eventually found herself overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of them as they writhed around arms and weighed her down and prevented her from swinging her hammers as hard, as fast, as necessary. Snarling, she swore a blood oath to any fucking thing above or below that she would change the bitchy pampered self-centered mindsets of everybody around her... or kill every god damn last one of them. Biting into the hide of one of the worms that latched onto her neck, she chewed and tore with her teeth and with her rage, feeling the blood become sucked from her body as cold started to seep into her bones and a heavy fatigue washed violently across her. And then, sweet sweet oblivion.

Whether it was by virtue of her own spite, a glitch in the game's software, or her prayers of hatred had been answered, the Admiral's eyes opened once more and life came flooding back into her, allowing her a second chance. It was full blown Kirito level bullshit, but she wasn't about to question whatever good fortune had come her way as she stood once more and began to prise the worms from off her her, grinding them mercilessly under heel. There was a single worm left now, wrapped around her leg and trying its utmost to drain the life from her, but even at its worst she was going to walk away from the fight in the condition she had entered it: furious and at half health.

In spite of the fact that she was just going to win, the little worm bastard did not give up and continued to bite and tear at her leg, causing her to wonder why she had invested in god damned Poor armor in the first place, if it did nothing. She was going to melt it down into slag and then pour that slag into the sewers, so it could sit down here with all the god damned worms and regrets and every other fucking thing that had turned her into a bitter bitch-fiend. Possibly she just needed to get laid, but no, she already felt plenty fucked at the moment.

Crushing the last of the worms under her hammers, the Admiral put one of her weapons away and picked up the glowing potion that was in her hand, heading towards the end ahead of her now that everything was out of her way. She glanced around, looking to see if there was a definitive ending to the sewers or if perhaps it delved even further into the wild darkness below.

    [ 1000 / 1000 ]
The Admiral by some unknown twist of fate had survived and pushed on.

The monsters refused to come near her again after her work on such a large group of them. It seems she was now considered higher on the food chain down here, After what seemed like a forever of sludge, filth, and darkness. She would come to a descending slope. It was so covered in a slippery slime that standing would be near impossible. The slope was wide and had little other telltale features. It would be a long slippery slide to the bottom of this cesspit....

It may not be possible to return from there easily. You also see a Checkpoint Crystal again. Right next to the pit. Seems it's time to make a choice...
    • Continue on to Stokbon Sewers: Pit of Waste
    • Exit the dungeon via the Checkpoint Crystal.

  27. With a satisfied sigh the Admiral reached a large doorway which appeared to be rusted shut and took hold of the handle, pulling at it as she ignored the crystal beside her. The door did not budge, and a loud voice broke the quiet of the dank sewers...
