The initial reports were that all of the deacons had been cleared out, but it never hurt to be certain. Ash slowly made her way through the right wing of the temple, keeping watch for any enemies. Nothing but piles of bodies, really; looked like everyone else was very thorough with their extermination.

She gave a nod to @Sharara Gatsu as she passed by, seeing that the Felis warrior had just finished up a bunch of cultists as well. So, this room was clear too. That was one corridor and one room down, who knew however many else of each to check.

Careful guard slipping, Ash sighed as she continued down the hallway. Come on, there had to be a more important job she could be doing!

Your raid on the temple succeeded as you subjugated the majority of the cultists and more, greatly thinning out their forces. With fervor, the Red team penetrated the inner sanctum where they engaged Father and his best guards and mages in combat...

After a brief fight, you and your forces easily overpowered the cultists, killing the Father and all but a few of his men. However...

Flames began to eat away at the Father's cold body, his eyes becoming two candles from which a great flaming beast raised and roared; it was no longer tethered to the plump and pompous body which had ensnared it. Fifteen feet tall, the enormous elemental gazed upon those gathered around it, amusement stretching across its horrible face as it saw the dead cultists around it.

We burn again... Thank you, heroes, for releasing us from our binding to the human. They have failed their purpose.

We will not fail in ours: killing you all, for the glory of Them. They are coming regardless of your attempts here, and They cannot be stopped. Lay down your weapons. Retreat to the lands from which you came, and do not interfere in the scheming of greater beings.

If you leave, I will not pursue... but if you remain, you must die, for serving enemies of the Prince.

    Ash Mouth the Herald
    [ 1283 / 1600 ]

Raising its hands, Ash Mouth began to channel heat into the air above it and sent an aura of fire exploding outwards through the whole temple. What it lacked in concussive force it more than made up for in searing heat which blistered skin and tore at the lungs of everybody who had come to fight. Damages that no armor could protect against.

As the wave of heat passed, the elemental turned and conjured up flames in its hands, turning to fight those assembled about him.

    Objectives
    • Ash Mouth, the creature that was in possession of the Father of Flames, must be destroyed before the summoning is complete or he will fight alongside his greater counterpart.
Telegraph: The elemental raises both of its hands.

  5. The giant creature of pure flame frightened her enough to leave her shaking, her grimoire falling out of her hands as she desperately tried to stay standing. This was certainly a predicament she'd gotten herself into! She had magic, though it wouldn't be strong against the creature- but more than magic, she had crippling anxiety leaving her wanting to cry a river or more.

"No, I play to gain strength over my fears." Still shaky, she picked up her magic book and began to chant a spell, aiming for the dastardly beast before her. "It's not our fault these flames don't know when to quit. We'll just have to teach them!"

  8. When the air began to heat up suddenly, Ash got the feeling that something was wrong. When the alarmed shouts began rising up from the main chamber, that confirmed it. She raced back to where the noise came from and watched with wide eyes as the fire elemental let out a blast of white-hot flame.

Well, it obviously wasn't friendly. Though she was unsure what exactly plant magic would be able to do against a creature that seemed entirely made of fire, Ash brought up her spell list and began casting. Might as well give it a try. Maybe the game would even let her succeed.

  11. With a sudden flare, the father was consumed in flames giving birth to what seemed to be a fire elemental and a talkative one at that. Which was nice considering Roland still only had a bare minimum idea of what was going on here. As far as he could tell the cultist were trying to summon something, for one of the gods, specifically who wasn't a big fan of Idna. Of course, Roland was pretty far separated from theology, and in game lore so determining who that was would prove difficult. If he had to guess though this seemed to be the work of either Elwora or Ansora though the fire theme didn't seem to fit with either of the gods. "Is it possible..." Roland said out loud, "they are referring to a god outside the Elysid?" Being thoroughly distracted by the concept Roland ineffectively batted off a few attacks headed his way, as he sat back watching the fight unfold before him.

  14. The deacons and the false clergyman leading them were torn through like wet paper. A volley of arrows, powerful magics, and flashes of blades made for a devastating cataclysm that stared them down before consuming them whole. The bodies fell like flies and Gwyn snorted in amusement at the paltry fight they put up. She didn't care for most people of the cloth, as uncomfortable with religion as she was, but those foul ilk had no respect for the sanctity of other worshipers who did their holy work in peace. Assholes.

She stiffened as the first of the flames began to lick at the Father's robes, eyes narrowing as she reached an arm out to the side to brace in front of @Kyupin Felnya and urge her backwards. "That doesn't look good," she muttered half to herself and half to the Felis at her side. Soon they were growing and twisting into a form she felt was reaching to call humanoid. A fire elemental of some sort rose and its own words were just as petty to listen to. The evil and blatantly threatening monologue thing was growing tiresome is she was being honest with herself. "Sorry, he doesn't look good," she corrected with a wry smile and a glance at Kyupin. As the burning heat and lashes of flame reached their way, the hunter stiffened under the assault with a growing growl under her breath.

    Power Shot

The archer responded in kind with her own attack, teeth bared, and loosed her next shot. There was only so much arrows could do against a creature made of flame, but her Power Shot was more than just forged metal and the fletched shaft. That attack skill at least had enough force damage behind it to add a bit more bite to the strikes that were incinerated soon after.

  17. The other Players were also very active. The Felis noticed it and deciding that it was safe for the moment she looked around more over what was once a great temple. It was pity, the blood, broken bodies, altars, icons made it look quite horrible. But even under all of that she could see how it was once beautiful. And, in the end with work (like the one put into the Castle), it could be great again.

With purifying spells cast later, the place could be cleansed. With willing worshippers, it could be rebuild. With willing priests, it could be repopulated. The stain could be cleansed and the cultists actions wiped away from the temple.

Those musings were cut short as a familiar blonde joined her. His presence was rather heartwarming and she nodded. “Of course!” Yes, protecting the other, healing them a little would be useful. Thus Ilusa followed @Astor Balthas. As he cast his spell, she spoke. “By the way Astor.” Gaining Astor's attention she asked. “What was it about the ‘kinda deal’ with a very powerful caster again?” Her lips pulled into a smile and her eyes watched him, yet there seemed something almost threatening about it.

The swathe of the enemies fell to the very energetic players, body by body. To be quite honest she was expecting something to happen as the health of the most important, boss looking character was dropping low; she still remembered the huge bloodworm and the mushroom.

Yet in contrary to her expectations nothing happened. The man was felled.

“Oh.” Which was when something happened. Her eyes watched as his body turned into flame and she made a disgruntled hiss. She understood what it was, a spirit. Possibly the man had used possession school of magic; she heard it was possible, people letting a spirit dwell in their bodies in exchange for power, but the more power used, the more it took.

Then it raised its hands and heat spread, no fire spread, quickly engulfing everyone.

“Aah!” A scream escaped her; the heat hurt, her armour did not protect her, but she was not the only one. Tears gathered in her eyes as burns appeared on her body, painful looking, painful feeling (familiar feeling) and digging into her health. She glanced at Astor who was next to her and other people. Everyone was burned, everyone’s health was chipped; it seemed that armour, no matter the type did not protect from that flame. In that case…

Ilusa took a steadying breath, targets appearing in her mind, spells shifting through her mind before she found an appropriate one. A group healing with an additional effect of numbing the pain; she could not heal them completely but she could lessen the severity of the burns and the pain they caused.

Arcane words or power left her lips, hands moved and light gathered, before it was released healing the targets and numbing the pain.

  20. Alpha stared blankly at the demonic fire elemental which had blossomed out of the corpse of the target she had just fell. Her nose scrunched up for a bit at the creature's words. "You are way too edgy for me!" Alpha exclaimed, giving an exaggerated gag. She gave it a shooing motion. "You're pretty hot but not hot enough for me!"

Resisting the urge to giggle at her own pun, she grabbed another waterskin pouch tied to her waistband; her eyes were determined to do the planet a favor and rid the world of this edge lord before it could spread and infect others with its evil God Satan or whatever.

Slowly, she moved into a standard kung-fu position (the stance that you'd normally find in Karate Kid reboots and old Jackie Chan movies) and a rousing war cry began to rise from her throat. "Ninja Style: Waterball Jutsu!" she yelled as she took the waterskin pouch and splashed it onto her fiery opponent. Afterwards, she did the crane position (you know, from Yoga and Kung-Fu Panda).

  24. Exciting things were happening, and that was good! But it also kind of sucked? As Temperance ran around giving some much needed dick punting to the cultists, two small women chased after her to play as her battle buddies. One seemed to go about tripping them with vines while the other had little metal spiders that exploded on people and left bloody cadavers all over the place. That was super gross, and she got away from that woman as quickly as she was able to!

Moving through the temple, she eventually made her way to the inner sanctum by following the dead bodies with cuts and arrows in them, which is where she found the majority of people engaged in a battle against a fat man and his flame attacks. A lot of strong silent types just fought the man quietly, though the little archer girl gave a cheerful shout of support. And the big mage guy had a lot to say! Like, a lot. He was definitely the one in charge, because he used the most words. Watching them take down the jolly fat cultist, she clapped and prepared to heal their wounds when suddenly the corpse began to smolder and a large figure burned its way out of the body. That... wasn't supposed to happen.

Before she could warn anybody to get clear, a massive burst of heat came from the creature that called itself... What DID it call itself?

"HEY! Candle boy! What's your name?"
she shouted, not really expecting an answer. But if she could get him talking again then maybe he'd get distracted, yay smart plans! A glance around showed her that everyone was fighting the large flaming guy with everything they had, though she was confused why two people were trying to use naturamancy to fight a guy made of FIRE. And how it was working?
"Naturamancy girls, you could be healing people! Like this!" She threw her magic out, healing the little archer girl and the small fry that was kicking ASS with her vines! A glance at @Ilusa Nakhalee saw that she was also healing people of their injuries, which earned a thumbs up from Temperance and a big smile. Healers were the best!
"Lots of hurt people after those heat wave attacks of his, so don't waste it!"

  27. Feeling the wave of heat, Lucia recoiled a little, shielding her face with her hands. It didn't do anything to protect her, but was merely a reflexive action as she stepped back. Her frown deepened though, glaring at the large flame creature through her fingers, hearing the creature's words her rage peaked. Normally pessimistic about these situations, the creature had set itself on the other side of Synra, the Goddess who supported her, perhaps the only one in the game who whole made an effort and offered Lucia a chance. Her free hand slid down to her hip, pulling the bound book off of it's latch letting the buttons pop and the bandage unravel. Opening her Shadowtome, she used her shielding hand to begin gesturing, Lavender colored runes appearing with each hand gesture she made, but she didn't simply stop with gestures as she normally did. "We're waking up, to ash and dust, we wipe our brow and sweat black dust, while breathing in the chemicals--" She chanted while taking in a deep breath of heat, while it made her wince, she still inhaled sharply.

Her spell already began bearing fruit as the ground rumbled. Undead in armor began to slowly force their way from the heated ground. Not typical zombies, they wore black armor that wasn't worn or damaged, with weapons that weren't rusted or blunted by time. "--We're checking in and shaping up, we're breaking out from prison but this is it; the apocalypse." When her spell completed and the army stood, the sounds of shields slamming against the ground and pikes crashing against the sides echoed in Unison. "I'm waking up, I feel it in my soul, enough to make the spirits flow; Welcoming a new age." She spoke finishing her second spell, the shields and Pikes began to shimmer, a dazzling chill radiated outward, the frigid blades covered in a frost that the heat was forced to compete with. With her spells completed, Lucia could only wipe her forehead, an accusing glare being shot towards Ash mouth as she beckoned her forces forward. "Knights of the Tal'Darim! Advance and drag this bastard down off his high horse for Synra!" She demanded with the fiercest tone she could muster. Urging the undead knights forward, as a cohesive unit they charged with inhuman cries to try and thrust as many frigid blades into the creature as they could manage.

  30. Ursula quietly scouted for any remaining cultists, her gloves extending enough to push herself forward every time her gloves sunk in the ceiling and allowed her aerial advantage against the cultists. On her way to the inner sanctum, the blacksmith spotted a remaining cultist making a run towards her destination as well. Ursula stopped moving and hanged by one of her tinker arms, waiting for the enemy to decrease the distance between them both. When in range, her right arm was launched and hit the cultist’s face with plenty of force, knocking them down.

Her left arm loosened its grip on the ceiling, extending and allowing her to land on the cultist, making sure they were down for good. Ursa’s blue eyes scanned the area, and as she realized there were no more enemies to take care of, she made a dash towards the inner sanctum. Using her extendable arms would be faster, but she couldn’t put too much strain on them yet. Endra knows what they’d have to deal with! “‘Dis better be worth the trouble! I was about to get some good ol’ dark iron ore in those mines… I ain’t gettin’ over that loss anytime soon!”

When the blacksmith reached the inner sanctum, she received her second, much stronger warm welcome in the form of a blast of fire that seemed to hit everyone in the vicinity. While Ursa wasn’t exactly unfamiliar with heat and fire, she had enough skills to avoid burning herself when smithing, and much to her chagrin, one of her luscious gold hair strands was set on fire. With a swift clap of her large gloves Ursa managed to cut its oxygen supply — her eyes locked on the big torch monster while veins popped up on her temples, and she grit her teeth. Not her hair...

“ALRIGHT, YA SON OF A BURNSHIT WIPE EXPERIMENT! YA WANNA FIGHT? YA GET A FIGHT!”

The enraged blacksmith crouched and removed her backpack, pulling a large metal cylinder object out of it. She raised the metal piece high up, then slammed it in the ground with great force. Ursula opened a panel on it and started messing with some sort of component inside; the metal cylinder sprung to life, the outer metal spinning in response to her tinkering, turning into a turret. Lastly, she released many of her small explosive automatas toward the enemy.

Ursula made sure it was safe to shoot to avoid any friendly-fire. When she pulled the trigger mechanism, the turret fired and the explosion was enough to detonate all others small spider automatas around the enemy in a chain reaction of explosions along with the turret attack.

  33. The surroundings turn into a field oven with the conjuration of Ash Mouth, an enormous creature of fire. His presence is enough to cause severe heat and steam, causing Corvella's sight to be hindered by heat haze and smoke.

She made her way slowly to the frontline, using her shield to block off any direct incoming heat. There's few opening where the heatwave stops for few seconds, and she took the opportunity by jumping straight and lunging her sword into the giant body of fire.

    "Take this!"

She would get back few steps afterwards. Being close to a heat source after a melee attack is not a smart move at all.

  36. By the time Verity rejoined the whole group, he quickly witnessed what just happened as he stared at the seemingly dead cultist priest transformed into a fire spirit creature. In fact, just seeing this whole ordeal caused him to lose his sense his reality as he felt the growing heat around the whole building. Guess that the realistic graphics of the VRMMO wasn't just all talk at the news.

But while he was little impressed by this light show, he knew this wasn't the time to do so. In fact, he was aware that just one distraction was enough to lead him to his in-game death. Sure, he didn't die before, but he rather not knows the consequences if he did.

Now gripping his sword, Verity quickly used his Breeze Shroud spell to give him some speed boost before he charged onto the blazing monster in front of him and swung it to the fiery spirit.

  39. This was it! Her time to shine, both figuratively and literally! The evil machinations of the foul cultists shall be no more, their flames of destruction would sputter under the righteous light of Tyl! Eldhi accepted the quest's invitation in a heart beat, arriving in the arena where she and all the players alongside her were taken through a portal, arriving at the bubbling volcano that was Mount Vulpus.

"Umu!" Landing near the scorched land around the Temple of Idna, Eldhi joined with her brethren, charging into the sacrileged place of worship with her longsword drawn, dauntless and spirited, justice would triumph this day! Together with fellow players, some she knew, such as the plucky Kunoichi @Alphabet Chocolate and the Necromantic Sorceress @Lucia Mierz while others, well, she'd get to know them soon enough.

They fought through, smiting the heretics desecrating Idna's images and at some point, slain the leader of the wicked fraternity...

Only for the man to malignantly transform into a fiery abomination, a hulking giant of lava, stood before the brave warriors. "By Tyl..." Eldhi took a moment to assess the new threat, however, she knew her true resolve would be further tested in the coming battle. If she wavered now, what kind of knight would be she be?

"Oh, Tyl, God of Justice and Righteousness, grant me the strength to smite thy foes!" Eldhi held her sword near her chest, tapping her forehead into the flat side of the blade, then raised it up, "Divine Edge!" The edge of her weapon shone a golden light as she powered it with her Illumancy, it might not be truly the power of Tyl, she was not at that level yet but it didn't mean she couldn't please him through her efforts.

"Hyaaaaaaah!" Charging, Eldhi jumped up at the giant then made a slice on its waist, landing with a roll as she coughed. Even being in the vicinity of the wicked creature was enough to singe her hair and lungs burn, but the battle wasn't over yet!

  43. "Seems I may have taken too much time preparing."

Beretta arrived late, or not exactly with the vanguard into this fiery brawl. It was not exactly her thing really. Beretta really was not someone who actively liked to fight or to subdue another with brute force. It was only when it truly had to be done that she took the kid gloves off. The information she had gathered with Gwyn and her conclusions were not far from the mark it seemed. In the end it did not really lead her anywhere closer to the truth that she needed to uncover. It was a major event for the game, and yes the warping was definitely one of the more... out of this wolrd experiences she had gone through. However it only continued to prove that Terrasphere was extremely advanced and seemingly endless in size and scope. This was a conclusion she had made already.

Several players ran past her into what looked to be a boss, or mini boss battle. Beretta adjusted her gloves and pulled her hair back as she kept walking towards the creature. A elemental... so the cult was actually being used by a supernatural being? A trope that fit this setting pretty well. Her fists clenched as she took a combat stance. Her eyes staying on the flaming monster while her body twisted to the side and with legs a fair distance apart. Investigation mode told her it was not going to be weak to her attacks... well that was actually obvious. Her fists might be burning quite literally after this one.

"Alright, I guess progressing the story is a good way to bring out some new information for now."

With a bend of her left knee, she launched herself fist first at the fire spirit....
