Azog Prince of Fire
❰ 3576 / 7000 HP ❱
The lava continued to rise ceaselessly until it was but 15 feet below the tips of the spires. Anyone who was standing on the spires could feel it becoming more difficult to breathe and keeping their eyes open as they teared up from the searing heat. It was at this time that the threat of losing became extremely real… if the lava completely covered the enormous figure before them, Astorea and Falderen would be doomed to 200 years of terrible winters, once the flames had finished consuming everything.
Since Azog could no longer move freely, given that the viscous lava has covered up to his mouth, he opted for a different attack. Taking his massive arms, the prince churned the lake of lava, creating powerful waves to wash over the ants who opposed him with their vulgar attacks. Fortunately for players, the lava was not high enough for a devastating blow, just yet. The waves crashed against the spires and sent a spray of flame across everyone, but did not wash anybody away to their doom.
Lava Tsunami
Zone 9 was the first to get hit with the full brunt of the lava tsunami. Everyone in zone 9 takes 60 damage, but this has been reduced to 30HP damage from “Hold the Line (2/2)”. The main tank takes x2 damage (60HP). Reckless attackers do not take x2/x3 damage for this.
Zone 2 was the second to get hit with the lava tsunami, but zone 9 had absorbed most of the impact: everyone in zone 2 takes 25HP damage. Reckless attackers do not take x2/x3 damage for this.
Zone 7 took the remaining splatters from the lava tsunami everyone in zone 7 takes 15HP damage. Reckless attackers do not take x2/x3 damage for this.
Just when the adventurers thought it was over, the gorillas ran across a slab of rock floating on the lava. They led with their massive arms and used them to leap into the air. Considering how close they were, anyone who used their investigation tool would be able to identify them as Magma Gorillas.
Zone 7 The Small Magma Gorilla landed on Zone 7 and put one of its arms around
@Alphabet Chocolate, fighting to pull her away from the rest of the group, which had turned their attention on it. Alphabet is now
Burning (-10 HP every time you post for 2 posts).
If the Small Magma Gorilla is not killed within the 5 hours, it will jump into the sea of lava and instantly kill Alphabet.
As the battle escalated, you could finally discern the outline of hot air balloons high above the fuming volcano; reinforcement had come! From what you could see, the balloons bore the emblems of the Monster Hunter League, which were escorting the Ynglar Brotherhood to the site of action. It seemed that the two organizations were on friendly terms.
Lenestra
Oh my goodness you guys are still alive!!! I am so glad I could shed a tear right now, but I really can't because my supervisor is standing next to me, I'll get yelled at...
Anyways, the balloons can't actually fly into volcano because the fumes will make us crash, but we'll try to provide as much help as we can out here.
Also, good news and bad news! Good news: we discovered that the boss' name is Azog, one of the Princes to the Prime Elemental Fire Lord.
And for the bad news... I'm afraid you can't kill an Elemental Lord through normal means... Even if you brought its HP to zero, it'll just be reborn and grow back into the same body with full health again in minutes... So... it's a good thing you haven't beaten him down just yet, or we'd be right back to square one!
Astor Balthas
How in the hell can we kill it then?!

Lenestra
King Astor, please don't yell at me!!! I haven't finish talking yet...
We have someone on board who speaks Asymgog, the language of the Fire Elementals. And from the recording a player had made and sent us earlier, we were able to transcribe that the Prince of Fire was weeping and recounting his adoration and hatred for Idna.
We checked with Religious Historians and were able to confirm that the two had had some kind of interaction together in the lore that made them enemies, they were apparently betrothed. I don't know if that's relevant. BUT, we did discover that Idna abhors Elementals and actually devised a powerful relic to destroy them. Only... the Fire Elementals are currently hiding it in the Firelands.
So... how about a plan?
Basically, the Brotherhood can reopen the smaller portals that summoned those small fire minions earlier and keep it opened for a time. A very short time. Don't dawdle! Within this time, anyone who is compatible with portal traveling will be able to go through, but there's a limit of 2 people per portal. We don't have time to move everyone around, so the two most compatible people on each spire will have to go through and look for the artifact!
Just, you know... go in, get the relic fragments, get out, and voila! All we have to do then is to bring Azog to zero HP, open him up, drop the relic in and he's boom-boom-gone!!! But without the actual boom-boom part! I want to say again, this is the only way NOT to make the whole mountain explode!

Astor Balthas
Are you fucking out of your mind?!
Goddammit, you heard the lady, go into the portal to see if you are compatible before I shove you in myself, GO!!!
Shortly after the exchange, muffled voices of chanting could be heard aboard the hot air balloons as Ynglar mages worked together to open a rift portal on each of the spires. Anyone who proved incompatible would stick their hand through the portal and nothing would happen. Those who were compatible would immediately feel heat on the other side.
Instruction: Roll in the Rift Compatibility thread to see if you can go through the portal. The rolling will close in 4 hours to determine who is compatible for rift traveling. Anyone who rolled basically volunteer to go if they are compatible. Also, make 1 post doing whatever you like, but save the other in case you are able to travel.
Slowing the Rising Lava
[ 0 / 500 ]
The rate at which the lava rose had escalated to an unbelievable level, threatening to end the fight before the adventurers could complete their plan. In order to help with slowing the rising lava, the balloons launched supplies down onto each of the spires. Although many airdrops were lost due to improper aiming or blown away by the volcanic wind, the adventurers were able to retrieve a few.
Inside these airdrops were supplies to assemble a magitech device that would act as a coolant to slow down the rising lava. Unfortunately, they lacked the range to strike Azog himself.
Slowing the Rising Lava (Special Action) Instead of the actions on your role sheet, roll a d100 + modifier. You must have the appropriate magic or use the coolant to slow the rising lava.
Modifier: Tinker and Engineer get +10 per tier (except beginner). Anyone with Hydromancy, Geomancy, or Aeromancy get +10 per tier (except beginner).
If progress track reaches 500/500, the rising lava will slow down for the rest of the cycle.
- Relic group of 6 will go through the portal and retrieve the relic, in three pairs.
- Lava group will use coolant device or magic to slow down the rising lava.
- Attack group should try to bring Azog's HP down as far as they can.
