    -10 Health to Burning debuff!

The flames licked at her flesh, her clothes slowly burning as the fire spread on the cloth. But Kyupin couldn't focus on that pain, couldn't let it distract her. The lava was rising and she didn't have time to worry about being on fire of all things.

If she didn't get up on to those spires, she'd die regardless. Sweat dripped down her forehead as she clung to rocks, scaling the spire while mumbling prayers to the gods to keep her from falling. She watched as a chunk of rock broke off, falling into the rising lava. Faster! Her eyes watered as the shoulder of her dress, burning, seared into the skin there. It hurt… so much…

She whimpered as she finally pulled herself atop the stones, heaving for air and trying to pat at the burns. It did nothing other than exposing her palms to the fierce burning.

Kyupin struggled to stand on her wobbling legs. As her eyes landed upon the mighty flaming elemental, smacking lava around like a kid in a pool, all her self-preservation instincts were wiped away. Kill or be killed. If it were just herself, it wouldn't matter… But surrounded by other adventurers, other potential victims, she couldn't be selfish and take care of herself. Only once the threat was ended would she care to her wounds.

Pulling her bowstring taut and aiming her arrow, Kyupin silently thanked whichever mage had blessed her hands. She could feel the magic swirling through her veins, steadying and strengthening them. She took aim at Azog, readied herself…

And then spotted the weird gorillas.

Were they enemies too? Quickly readjusting to the new targets, Kyupin let loose. The arrow cut through the sweltering air and into the cracks of the gorilla-magma-things. Had she even done anything, other than enraging the beasts? Who knew.

Ozwin twirled the trident in his hands with a grin as he began to reposition himself to take another shot at Mt. Douchmore, but his hunting enhanced senses pulled his attention elsewhere... Actual fire monkeys... Really?

Ozwin wasted a couple seconds of the battle to stare with disapproval at Smokey the Bear's mortal enemy before changing his aim towards the oncoming monkeys. He wasn't even feeling this one, he just decided to aim for the big one because it was a larger target and launched a lightning trident at it. Fire monkeys... He needed to be more careful if his insults became real... He joked to himself knowing that he must surely have noticed them without realizing it when he flung those insults a bit ago.

They were safe. Ish. The lava was not continuing higher. For now.

Then, blizzard appeared. Only to turn into rain because of the heat. Ilusa watched @Temperance feeling an irrational anger at the woman. It was irrational, because it was not the woman’s fault that she was a healer that was better equipped to deal with this situation, nor was it her fault that she spent many hours to make her Ilumancy be on a higher level than her own. Ilusa knew better, was better and so she only huffed lightly, enjoying the next rain, and how the burning status was erased from her.

It did make her action of dispelling fire on Astor bit redundant, but she had no way of knowing the woman would have cast a blizzard that turned into rain. Either way, she should focus on finding the correct people, to heal! Like that tank, who got a bit battered up.

As she was trying to find the good angle, she was a witness to something amazing.

There was something to be said about overkill, because that was the only way she could call what Astor did next to one of the monsters standing there. A spell and the fire of the spirit was doused. No or rather frozen solid. Completely utterly frozen. To the bone. It looked like a beautiful piece of art. There was a function, a screen capture and she did not think but engage it, capturing the beauty, the contrast between the fiery pit that the place was and the frozen statue.

Then again as someone else attacked the big Boss. Then again as Astor was nearing the frozen statue aiming to kick it. The feature kept being pressed, as second by second passed. When the beautiful frozen statue shattered it into million trillion little pieces; flakes that were beautiful for the single moment that her eyes caught them.

She moved her head, and kept pressing the button, until the enemy was a heap of melted water and dead rocks.

In the meantime another enemy was killed and suddenly the platform was no longer so uncomfortably tight. but first she looked at @Astor Balthas.

“That was amazing Astor!” It needed congratulations, he killed the first monster in truly spectacular way.

Thus she returned to doing her thing, that is healing. The arcane words were rehearsed, remembered, but there was always something that could make the resulting spell bit worse off or bit better. A trick she did not manage to completely learn. This time it went.. Better than average, but not close to the best, but still, as the light seeped into the valiant tank @Roland Rutledge (who once upon a time was so drunk that the exodus had to move around him), recovering some of his wounds and numbing some of the pain he was surely feeling.

That done, she spotted someone else, whom she was planning on healing.. OR perhaps buffing? She had seen @Seto Kurama hitting the enemy with many attacks.

“Hmm.. Decisions, decisions..” Because the odd lumbering things, were not her concern. she was a support after all, not a damage dealer.

She'd ducked behind the spire on her left by chance — just to take a short breather — and not a moment too soon, lava from the gash in the volcano's floor quickly flooding the area she had left behind, leaving her to scramble desperately up the spire as she raced to out-speed its level. Several minions were summoned to block her path, but thankfully the damage dealers that had chosen to ascend the same outcrop as her took quick action, disposing the monsters with relative ease. In the end it was quite a tight squeeze on top of the spire, but she made it up safely, the lava swarming the the ground below in the group's wake, circling around the rock pillar like sharks that'd been deprived of their prey.

With a quick look around, she didn't recognise anyone other than Gwyn — an ex-guild member that she had little to no interaction with, but if she remembered correctly was pretty powerful — Alonso, and a young girl that she'd partied up with for one of the recent world quests. The two women seemed to be doing alright, but Alonso's health in particular worried her, as did that of two other DPS dealers among them. And this is where I come in, Amane supposed. While she wasn't much help in taking down the creatures, she'll at least contribute to fixing up the aftermath.

A spell leaving her lips in a flurry, she took the respite that came with their enemies defeated to back up close to the edge of the spire, taking care not to fall over the edge, yet still giving those who were fighting a larger area to manoeuvre on. If the boss suddenly decided to turn around and launch an attack, she didn't want to hinder their movements any more than her presence already did. Though its not entirely out of altruism, she admitted inwardly. Perhaps it was an instinct that had carried over from the real world, or even one born from the numerous battles that she had found herself involved in since the start of the game, but she wasn't going to stand in close proximity to one of the DPS's weapons if she could help it, especially when it wouldn't take much at all for one of them to swing around by accident and get her good in the head.

Her spell completed, Amane thrusted her palm downwards, glyphs forming on the ground as light simultaneously poured over Alonso and the two other players, healing their health by a marginal amount. She'll have to improve her heals soon: for her level of experience, her skills were woefully lacking in comparison. Though...it wasn't like she could do much about it at the moment. "Is everyone alright?" She called out when the light from the spell faded, leaving naught else but the saturated, almost eerie glow of the surrounding fires casting dancing, disfigured shadows across the temple walls.

The twangs of fatigue began its slow crawl into his system, the environment on top of damage taking its toll. Death was near, and even a little bit of dehydration was not an amusing dilemma. Soon, however, the large man felt the various magics flowing through his body, the health bar on his interface rising to a much more preferable level. "Very good all of you. Keep up the pace with your heals in this zone," he said. While he was grateful of some of the focus placed on him, the entire group was a priority compared to a singular person. Being kept with their backs to the wall did nothing to ease the tension of this boss. It was still far from over.

In the distance he noted the two, gorilla like adds coming the raid's way. Alonso was unable to hit them, as he much preferred not having more targets to deal with, but the ranged attacks from all sides seemed to be proficient in dealing with that mess. Even if the monsters were no killed, enough damage will be dealt to finish them off easier. The Felis needed to focus on Azog still. Letting out a huff, the man glared at the Fire Prince, "You should quit while you're ahead!" Lunging forward, the cat man pummeled the boss with a flurry of punches, before clasping his hands together again for a three combo hammer blow, "Rampage Hammer!"

Solaria had decided quickly that her current spot was a good place to stay. While instincts would tell her to protect people with violence, she was able to fight her martyr complex due to the lack of heavy damage. Instead, she called out to three people: one person she'd met, and two were strangers. Because she was using a broad range healing spell, she found it quite weak in the end.

"Sorry guys. Looks like I lost concentration partway through...I'll keep supporting you from here though. Just don't get too close to those things!" If the others did so, she was well aware what she'd do. Her punishment for death was an emphasis of her current personality- and even Solaria knew that could be a bad thing.

Hearing the thanks from the king in another area, the elf smiled cheerfully and waved to him. "It's only natural to aid you, my liege!" Giggling, she turned her attention back to the beasts not far away. "Great, there's more of them..."

With a fist in the air, she cheered for the people she knew upon the spire she stood. "Kyu! Elly! Verity! In fact...Everyone! Let's cool these lava lugs down with all our might!"

    +5 Health from Solaria's heal!
    -10 Health to Burning debuff!

She turned her head slightly to offer Solaria a thankful smile. Really, this girl always seemed to be helping her out. She'd have to find a way to repay @Solaria back later, maybe when they weren't handling the threat of a giant lava creep wiping out all living existence for the next couple centuries.

Reminded of their impending doom, Kyupin focused on the apes once more. They didn't seem too bad... yet. But with all the other things coming through those rifts, she didn't really want to take the chance of letting them live to prove her wrong. With a long, forceful exhale, Kyupin pulled her bowstring taut, then let loose an arrow. And then another. And though she'd usually tire after two, the magic swirling around in her limbs granted her one more shot that shattered one of those ape-things.

Too late to feel guilty then. Kyupin's body shook as she took a step away from the ledge. She was tired - all the way to the bones. And if this fire kept on eating away at her clothes and skin like this, it wouldn't just be exhaustion in her bones.

    Azog Prince of Fire
    ❰ 3576 / 7000 HP ❱

The lava continued to rise ceaselessly until it was but 15 feet below the tips of the spires. Anyone who was standing on the spires could feel it becoming more difficult to breathe and keeping their eyes open as they teared up from the searing heat. It was at this time that the threat of losing became extremely real… if the lava completely covered the enormous figure before them, Astorea and Falderen would be doomed to 200 years of terrible winters, once the flames had finished consuming everything.

Since Azog could no longer move freely, given that the viscous lava has covered up to his mouth, he opted for a different attack. Taking his massive arms, the prince churned the lake of lava, creating powerful waves to wash over the ants who opposed him with their vulgar attacks. Fortunately for players, the lava was not high enough for a devastating blow, just yet. The waves crashed against the spires and sent a spray of flame across everyone, but did not wash anybody away to their doom.

    Lava Tsunami

Zone 9 was the first to get hit with the full brunt of the lava tsunami. Everyone in zone 9 takes 60 damage, but this has been reduced to 30HP damage from “Hold the Line (2/2)”. The main tank takes x2 damage (60HP). Reckless attackers do not take x2/x3 damage for this.

Zone 2 was the second to get hit with the lava tsunami, but zone 9 had absorbed most of the impact: everyone in zone 2 takes 25HP damage. Reckless attackers do not take x2/x3 damage for this.

Zone 7 took the remaining splatters from the lava tsunami everyone in zone 7 takes 15HP damage. Reckless attackers do not take x2/x3 damage for this.

Just when the adventurers thought it was over, the gorillas ran across a slab of rock floating on the lava. They led with their massive arms and used them to leap into the air. Considering how close they were, anyone who used their investigation tool would be able to identify them as Magma Gorillas.

Zone 7 The Small Magma Gorilla landed on Zone 7 and put one of its arms around @Alphabet Chocolate, fighting to pull her away from the rest of the group, which had turned their attention on it. Alphabet is now Burning (-10 HP every time you post for 2 posts).

If the Small Magma Gorilla is not killed within the 5 hours, it will jump into the sea of lava and instantly kill Alphabet.

    The Plan
As the battle escalated, you could finally discern the outline of hot air balloons high above the fuming volcano; reinforcement had come! From what you could see, the balloons bore the emblems of the Monster Hunter League, which were escorting the Ynglar Brotherhood to the site of action. It seemed that the two organizations were on friendly terms.

    img
    Lenestra
Oh my goodness you guys are still alive!!! I am so glad I could shed a tear right now, but I really can't because my supervisor is standing next to me, I'll get yelled at...

Anyways, the balloons can't actually fly into volcano because the fumes will make us crash, but we'll try to provide as much help as we can out here.

Also, good news and bad news! Good news: we discovered that the boss' name is Azog, one of the Princes to the Prime Elemental Fire Lord.

And for the bad news... I'm afraid you can't kill an Elemental Lord through normal means... Even if you brought its HP to zero, it'll just be reborn and grow back into the same body with full health again in minutes... So... it's a good thing you haven't beaten him down just yet, or we'd be right back to square one!

    img
    Astor Balthas
How in the hell can we kill it then?!

    img
    Lenestra
King Astor, please don't yell at me!!! I haven't finish talking yet...

We have someone on board who speaks Asymgog, the language of the Fire Elementals. And from the recording a player had made and sent us earlier, we were able to transcribe that the Prince of Fire was weeping and recounting his adoration and hatred for Idna.

We checked with Religious Historians and were able to confirm that the two had had some kind of interaction together in the lore that made them enemies, they were apparently betrothed. I don't know if that's relevant. BUT, we did discover that Idna abhors Elementals and actually devised a powerful relic to destroy them. Only... the Fire Elementals are currently hiding it in the Firelands.

    So... how about a plan?

Basically, the Brotherhood can reopen the smaller portals that summoned those small fire minions earlier and keep it opened for a time. A very short time. Don't dawdle! Within this time, anyone who is compatible with portal traveling will be able to go through, but there's a limit of 2 people per portal. We don't have time to move everyone around, so the two most compatible people on each spire will have to go through and look for the artifact!

Just, you know... go in, get the relic fragments, get out, and voila! All we have to do then is to bring Azog to zero HP, open him up, drop the relic in and he's boom-boom-gone!!! But without the actual boom-boom part! I want to say again, this is the only way NOT to make the whole mountain explode!

    img
    Astor Balthas
Are you fucking out of your mind?!

Goddammit, you heard the lady, go into the portal to see if you are compatible before I shove you in myself, GO!!!

Shortly after the exchange, muffled voices of chanting could be heard aboard the hot air balloons as Ynglar mages worked together to open a rift portal on each of the spires. Anyone who proved incompatible would stick their hand through the portal and nothing would happen. Those who were compatible would immediately feel heat on the other side.

Instruction: Roll in the Rift Compatibility thread to see if you can go through the portal. The rolling will close in 4 hours to determine who is compatible for rift traveling. Anyone who rolled basically volunteer to go if they are compatible. Also, make 1 post doing whatever you like, but save the other in case you are able to travel.

    Slowing the Rising Lava
    [ 0 / 500 ]

The rate at which the lava rose had escalated to an unbelievable level, threatening to end the fight before the adventurers could complete their plan. In order to help with slowing the rising lava, the balloons launched supplies down onto each of the spires. Although many airdrops were lost due to improper aiming or blown away by the volcanic wind, the adventurers were able to retrieve a few.

Inside these airdrops were supplies to assemble a magitech device that would act as a coolant to slow down the rising lava. Unfortunately, they lacked the range to strike Azog himself.

Slowing the Rising Lava (Special Action) Instead of the actions on your role sheet, roll a d100 + modifier. You must have the appropriate magic or use the coolant to slow the rising lava.

Modifier: Tinker and Engineer get +10 per tier (except beginner). Anyone with Hydromancy, Geomancy, or Aeromancy get +10 per tier (except beginner).

If progress track reaches 500/500, the rising lava will slow down for the rest of the cycle.

    Objectives
    1. Relic group of 6 will go through the portal and retrieve the relic, in three pairs.
    2. Lava group will use coolant device or magic to slow down the rising lava.
    3. Attack group should try to bring Azog's HP down as far as they can.

Everyone must pick a role. Your role determines what action you can do. Everyone is allowed to perform one of these actions per cycle system-wise. RP-wise, you can combine mastery, do multiple actions, or socialize, etc; the system only counts the action you pick from the spreadsheets to calculate damage or support. Current version: 1.17
    • Tank - Protect allies, disrupt enemies, and mitigate zonal damage.
    • DPS - Damage, damage, and more damage.
    • Support - Heal, buff, and dispel conditions from allies.
    • Hybrid - All of the above.
Slowing the Rising Lava (Special Action) Instead of the actions on your role sheet, roll a d100 + modifier. You are either using magic or the coolant to slow the rising lava. If progress track reaches 500/500, the rising lava will slow down for the rest of the cycle. Cannot fail.

Modifier: Tinker and Engineer get +10 per tier (except beginner). Anyone with Hydromancy, Geomancy, or Aeromancy get +10 per tier (except beginner).

Hydromancy, Alchemy, Cooking: These can only be performed by people with those mastery.
Replenish Thirst: (Requires: Hydromancy, Alchemy, Cooking) You spend this turn to give everyone in your zone +30 to their water meter.

Rain: (Requires: Hydromancy) (Requires: Hydromancy) You spend this turn to prevent burning for half a cycle and give everyone in your zone +20 to their water meter
Portal Compatibility If you have rolled in the Rift Compatibility thread you should just your first action to fight/support/slowing lava and save the 2nd post if it turns out that you are compatible for rift traveling.

    Notes:
    • Fire damage heals Azog. He is immune to Poison and to physical weapons (however, it is assumed that magic casters are helping to imbue attackers' weapons with magic so they can do damage to Azog.
    • If you have made a Reckless Attack you take x2 damage from the next attack you are hit by. If you have made two Reckless Attacks you take x3 damage from the next attack you are hit by. Environment damage such as the Burning condition does not count.
    • If you don't think you'll be able to post within 16+ hours, reply in the alcove. We will not damage you.

    OOC
All posting cooldowns have been refreshed!

You can have up to 2 posts per OOC account. This means that you can post twice per cycle, HOWEVER, if you are joining with 2 characters, it will be 1 post for each of them.
    1. Post a Status Tracker in this thread.
    2. If your action requires you to roll, roll at: (Roll) Azog the Prince of Fire before posting. How to link rolls.
    3. If you need a recap of the DM posts thus far, go to the Story Tracker.
    Template Addition:

Lucia glanced to the gorilla creatures with a heavy frown. Not exactly certain about their purpose, she could only sigh heavily at least knowing that the large one had been destroyed. She didn't exactly have a mind to take care of the local indigenous monsters; whether or not they came from the Flame prince was a toss up in her mind. The Risen were different from the blood witch after all. "I'll worry about it later if it becomes an issue... For now, the larger one needs to be defeated before the Lava rises too high." She spoke with a heavy frown, she was growing a little more flustered seeing the Gorillas. Sylvanas's condition concerned her making her worry, feeling that pinch in her heart, she swept her hand again causing that gentle breeze and unseen blade fly.

    Wight Blade

The attack was as fierce as usual, but once the blade connected, Lucia tightened her grip at the creature. That unseen frigid blade would begin to rotate cruelly like a chainsaw trying to eat and force it's way deeper into the creature. She wanted to try and speed things up, even if by only a single beat, she wanted to make sure Sylvanas was okay, to make sure her knights didn't die in vain.

Temperance had no idea what was happening, as she was not receiving all the fancy messages that others had access to. Instead, she merely observed as Astor shot down an Archon in one powerful move while Ilusa healed Roland, Seto shouted and blasted the enormous elemental, and everything devolved into more and more chaos. The lava was rising so high now that her damp clothing had already dried out and her eyes watered from the heat. It was miserable and she wondered why she'd even followed these strange weirdos here in the first place, but she'd gotten swept up in the rush and excitement!

And how! Exciting is exactly what it was, because Azog began to churn the entire lake and send lava coursing up towards all of them in a massive wave. Roland and Stelluna stepped before it and intercepted most of the SPLASH damage that came from it, sparing them all a bath that would roast them like lobsters.
"My heroes!" she shouted at their backs, to let them know she appreciated their assistance and the pain they had saved her. Since Ilusa was handling all of the healing, she turned her attention to the big mage guy that was good at freezing things with his strong magic.
"Use this to really FUCK HIM UP, okay?" she shouted, tossing an orb of light at Astor to boost his magic and help him tear apart their enemies.

The lava was rising faster, and she knew there was no way she could stop it. Pyrophobia in full blast, she felt herself shaking almost uncontrollably. This boss battle was really getting to be more than she expected!

Taking a peek around her, she noticed some people had some notably high injury levels. She seemed to calm down at realizing it, her mind focused on at least helping the people around her if she couldn't stop the lava or the beast.

With a deep breath, she chanted a spell, hoping to heal their wounds. It wasn't strong, sadly- but somehow, she was able to do even a bit. She smiled brightly upon realizing she'd done anything at all. "Thank goodness...At least it...sort of...worked?"

It seemed that there was little time for rest during the combat, as the lava soon rose, splashing up upon the spire. Wincing, she turned away from the splatter, using her arms to weakly shield herself from the incoming, burning projectiles. As a rather large clump landed in front of her, soon running down into the cracks of the spire, droplets of the flaming liquid splashed across her arms and legs, burning holes into her clothes.

"Eeesh!!" Gritting her teeth, she took a sharp breath in, glancing to the others around her as the waves passed, looking around to find the lava increasing at an intimidating rate. Her eyes glancing towards the lingering spark, she wondered if her magic could do anything against the rising currents, but... Unfortunately, it seemed there was no way. Though, looking up as a package floated towards her, Eleanor raised her arms up. Suddenly, a gust of volcanic wind swept through, strong enough nearly to knock the woman in blue over the edge. Catching herself, it was unfortunately enough to send the box of coolant that she was nearly able to catch past her, spinning in the air. She sighed as it drifted away. "Damn it, wind!"

"Screw it..." Bringing her hand up in front of herself, she attempted to make another shot at the giant elemental in the center. He was certainly a much easier target to hit when he was larger, but she was going to try and make it work. Her arcanamancy always seemed to make it to her foe... At least when she pulled it off.

Attempting to let it go, the spark didn't seem to release. Eyes widening, she glared down at her hand. A misfire? Of course, she had never used her magic this much at one time. Mistakes were bound to happen. She remembered the painful head pain that occurred upon failure to fire the shot. That ache that would shoot up through her arm, shoulder, and into her brain. Like brain freeze, but worse. She didn't want to feel that pain again. In a last ditch effort, she brought her left fist down onto her right wrist.

Like a hammer down into gunpowder, it set off the explosion, and the spark erupted out from her hand, sputtering in the air before landing on the creature. Eleanor fell back onto her rear end in the recoil, truly not expecting her brute force strategy to have such spectacular results. No pain, just a dull tingling in her arm. Perhaps she would use that strategy more often!

Really? The lava was rising now? What sort of cliche factory was this damn Prick of Fire. Ozwin began making large circles above him with his trident as if he were trying to stir something huge. Soon a small twister appeared above him before he slung it down and controlled it as it swept across the top of the lava trying to draw the heat from it.

Yeah this wasn't going to be nearly enough. "Hey no pressure or anything but I never quite liked the floor is lava game!" He shouted to no one in particular. He wasn't going to leave the ocean for a while after this flaming nonsense. Hottest thing he was going to experice for a while was either a beach or a woman's body. This fire elemental crap just wasn't in his job description.

Elysian sighed in relief when she felt a small heal tingle across her skin. She waved to the support, "Thanks!" But the relief was short lived as the boss created a giant lava tsunami. The other zones got it worse but Ely still hissed in pain as some of the molten substance burned into her. The heal she had just gotten was mostly wasted and she cursed as she scrambled to get away from the rising lava. If they didn't end this soon she wasn't sure if they would make it out alive.

Out of the corner of her eye she noticed one of the smaller gorilla monsters leaping forward but before she could warn it grabbed @Alphabet Chocolate and looked like it was going to pull her into the lava! Elysian knew the boss was important, but helping out those on her team was too and she had to help. She just hoped others noticed too. "Hang on!" She shouted as she shot a swift arrow at the magma creature and even though it wasn't a killing blow she hoped the thing would die before it was too late.
