Lucia exhaled sharply, a deep frown on her face, this wasn't going well, that much was clear. Receiving something that might help her deal a serious blow to the creature was a warm welcome though. With magical boots on she ventured out into the hellish zone that was the Lava pits and made her way to the boss's body. She didn't have much more time, the heat was intense, and she was very confident that wouldn't be able to survive a counter attack if it ever came to that. Even so though, Lucia wasn't one who would fear death at this stage. Instead, she once more gestured with her hand. Shadowtome open before sweeping it down towards the creature once more. The familiar gentle breeze creating another wraith blade that began eating into the creature's body, trying to split it open, or at least begin working through it's exterior with a volatile buzz-saw like motion. She sweated buckets, feeling the burn against her skin, but persisted for the knights who died so she could make it to this point.

Without a shield there was little Roland could do, standing on the front lines, but take the full brunt of Azog's retaliatory attack. Vision turning red he was tossed to the ground as his chest was impaled by the attack, only to rip through him traveling to locations Roland couldn't follow. Staggering he fell to a knee struggling to catch his breath. A quick glance at his health bar indicated the blow had taken over half of his maximum hit points, he had survived pretty much soley due to his new armor. Cursing Roland forced himself up as the ringing left his ears, nodding wearily towards @Ilusa Nakhalee, "I'll take you up on it."

It seemed that Astor had a new plan, or rather the person Astor was talking too, Roland couldn't quite remember who it was, he was just glad it wasn't @Trinity he still had a score to settle with that blue haired demon. Regardless the plan seemed quite harebrained, they'd jump down on Azog wearing magical boots and attack him. Or at least that was what Roland assumed they were going to do. Wasting no time, Roland donned the odd shoes with a sigh, and leaped forward onto the fire element's back. With a flourish Roland prepared to strike the giant, when, out of no where a large Gorilla zipped past him carriying Astor, Roland swiped his blades at the ape but it was out of his reach as quickly as it had came, "tct... I guess he can take care of himself..." Roland said before driving his dual blades into Azog's back. Recoiling from the effort Roland reluctantly took one of @Aporia Calvaros's 'pickle juice' with a gag before yelling, "Remind me to teach you how to make some real drinks after this!"

Just as Astor put his shoes, he could feel @Ilusa Nakhalee ’s eyes on him, rushing him since there were needy people everywhere on the death island that was Azog’s head. As much as Astor would like to say he was used to fire, this level of cinder, ash, and smoke being swept upward by the updraft of hot air was too much for him. His feet felt like they were melting with every step he made in his trek across the sea of lava. Despite not sinking into the viscous mass, he could feel his balance getting worse with each step. Fortunately, he had his hand in Ilusa’s, she helped him keep his balance as he made it onto the other side.

After the strenuous crossing, he took a moment to rest his weary lungs and heavy legs. When he lifted his face, which has been sullied by soot at this point. Every time he wiped his sleeve across his face, it would progressively get worse.

Seeing the admiration in Ilusa’s eyes and her encouraging words bolstered him, pushing him to straighten his back and roll up his sleeve and proceed to open a can of whoop-ass on the titan they are standing on. Sucking the scorching air into his lungs, Astor recited another new spell. He had had to employ so many spotty water and ice spell for this boss fight that he was afraid he would lose his fire identity before long.

“Eratas neweah adafon majura avua!” he chanted. Within his palms a large sphere of water was starting to expand. Just as he was going to throw it down on Azog, a massive gorilla came out of nowhere and tackled Astor, snatching him up where he stood and was about to leap away into the lava when @Alia showed up and quickly slashed the monkey holding onto him. Without having to think, the blond quickly dropped his sphere of water onto the Gorilla’s head, which completely disintegrated it. There will be no monkey business here…

Catching his breath as the cinder invaded his eyes and lungs, Astor took a few minutes to rest as his throat started to hurt. It was hot enough that any amount of sweat that came forth from his pores immediately evaporated. Fortunately, a familiar sight graced his vision, it was @Aporia Calvaros with her ridiculous beverages. Like seriously, where the hell does she even come from? He though to himself…

Looking at Ilusa who was trying to deal with her own set of problems, Astor furrowed his brows. Being attacked by the gorilla had set them back quite a bit. Astor could only hope the relic team would be finished soon…

In the midst of battle, he recieved a heal from @Alphabet Chocolate as well, which he gestured a thank you to her.

The fight quickly escalates into colossal monster-mounting party. The magical boots will allow them to walk on the fiery body of Azog, but has fighting on a body of a giant ever end well? She has no other choice but to follow the other cross the river of lava and take the fight above. The Prince of Fire was quickly enraged, swinging everything around and releasing massive stream of heat, evaporating even the sweats on Corvella's face, drying her lips, and make her hard to even breathe properly.

No one can withstand this kind of heat for much longer, but they'll have to wait for the other team to come back. Either way, they are stuck trying to not be a roasted meat. Corvella thrusted her copper sword on Azog's upper body in order to open more surface on the body. The body of flame is hard to pierce, but a strike is a strike still.

Lucia cringed, feeling this was her final moments. Bitterness was there, somewhere but in truth it wasn't as strong as she'd thought. Glancing around to those suffering with her, she had faith that even if she died in some catastrphic explosion, one of them would be able to survive and finish things-- No, maybe she might even die in those final moments with the boss himself? It didn't seem like an unworthy death. The thought of Sylvanas being out there somewhere and suddenly losing herself made Lucia frown for a moment, but her hesitation was brief. She closed her eyes, swallowed the fears she had: Sylvanas would make it out okay, the Tal'Darim were numberless, Endless and inevitable-- repeating that Mantra in her head, she let the Wraith Blade fly once more. The silent unseen buzzsaw flowed on a windless breeze like a ghost before crashing into Azogg once more. Whatever happened, she was ready to embrace the game's plan for her once more.

So the shoes had a distinct issue. Sure they kept your feet from melting on top of the molten lava, but they did nothing to otherwise counteract the heat. Roland had been standing on top of the fiery behemoth for only a few moments, and he could already feel welts begin to form on the skin he had exposed to the heat. They had to end this fight and quickly, looking around though he saw no sign of the 'portal' or whatever it was that was going to save them. Normally at this point, he'd sigh and throw back the last of his flask, but simply put the heat would drain whatever enjoyment he'd get out of it. Instead, he scratched his brain for a way to help, he could use the coolant formula he had earlier, but it would take time to take effect, and even then it was doubtful to work on something the size of Azog. After dismissing thoughts of a 'tactical retreat' Roland shook his head before shouting, "I hope someone has a plan here, if this thing gets moving we're all screwed!" and as if to punctuate the statement Roland thrust both of his swords deep into the creatures molten flesh, hoping someone did.

This update does not refresh posting cool-down for anyone who had already posted this cycle. This is a story continuation from the relic team.

    Back from the Rift

The Astral Mage cultist had not been kidding when he said it would be a bumpy ride… As the fight with Azog came down to its last stage, the “burn,” a massive portal opened up in the air high above where all the action was intensifying. The six who came out of the portal were practically free falling towards the volcano, with no hope in sight... until they landed on the top of one of the massive balloons floating near the volcano which had changed course to catch them. Ivan was not so lucky as he missed the balloon by an inch, falling towards his death on the side of the volcano.

Eleanor seemed to find herself on a different balloon from everyone else, which made it easier for Lenestra to spot her glowing skin contrasting the night sky. Within minutes, the balloon carrying Lenestra quickly came toward where Eleanor was and picked her up, while another two balloons picked up the rest of the rift group.

Considering how important Eleanor was to the operation, Lenestra quickly gave her the run-down of the situation. “Okay, miss, uh? I can see that you have fused with the catalyst that will allow us to destroy Azog’s core. Everyone else has mounted him and are working on bringing his health down to zero. You have to stay with us until the right time okay? We can’t allow you to die before the most crucial part of the fight. So please stay here with us!”

Once she had confirmed Eleanor was the relic holder via a simple Investigation function, she opened her palm menu and began to broadcast her voice for everyone to hear again since the communication tool was still down.

    img
    Lenestra
The Brotherhood has secured the catalyst. Repeat, the Brotherhood has secured the catalyst, get Azog to zero health. Repeat, get Azog to zero health.

We will drop the catalyst as soon as a hole is made on his body.

The rest of the rift party found themselves rescued by another balloon. Given that it was one of the reinforced balloons, it quickly descended toward the battlefield and dropped the four off in spire 9. Here, use these fire walkers to assist with the fight. They will need every person they can get their hands on,” a Monster Hunter spoke as he handed the four an armful of boots, getting everyone equipped and out onto the battlefield as soon as he could.

@Temperance @Sylpha Astarte @Alice @Ursa - All of you have 2 posts to do as normal.

@Eleanor Loan - One of your post should be a reaction post with no template. You need to save the other to jump from Lenestra's balloon when the fighting group has made a hole on Azog's body for you to jump into.

After the rift group returned to the battlefield, another balloon descended to a low altitude to provide the struggling group with aerial support. From it, water began pouring onto Azog’s burning body, cooling everyone down for a bit, lessening the damage people were taking from the searing heat.

Before the adventurers could celebrate, however, Lenestra screamed. “INCOMING FLAME MINIONS!!!”

Those who looked up at that time had spotted the large rift overhead, from which came plummeting more Kindling Embers and a new type of monster; smaller and stranger… The small monsters, called Tiny Gold Beards, landed on the cooled lava first where they immediately took out picks and hammers and began to chip away at the crust while others used their magic to slowly melt the cap of stone back into magma.

Demonstrating the warning that Speaker had given so many hours before, one of the Kindling Embers was sliced in half by the collapse of the portal, while the other two made through safely and slowly fell down towards Azog.

    Enemy Air Drop

    [ Kindling Embers A: 100 / 100 HP ]
    [ Kindling Embers B: 100 / 100 HP ]

If the Kindling Embers are not killed by the time Azog hits 0 HP, they will heal Azog for 400 HP each.

    Tiny Gold Beards x7

If these seven tiny Gold Beards are not killed by the time Azog hits 0 HP, they will escalate the rising lava and trigger the losing condition for the adventurers. These things do not have a lot of health and can be killed so long as you do not roll a 12 or lower. Your character must venture out to the cooled lava to destroy them.

    OOC

Everyone posting from now on only take a total of 20 HP damage and 20 thirst when they post. This total counts the burning condition. Reckless does not double the damage.

Use the play post here for actions and template because this is not a new cycle. Azog the Prince of Fire

Things just seemed to go from bad to worse for the entire group of adventurers and Gilgamesh was no exception. He also took the damage reducing his HP even further and also causing his thirst meter to drop considerably. So, he heeded the call and rushed over to zone 5 to get the magic boots and then got to slaying the new minions that appeared before him, specifically the second Kindling Embers. Despite his parched throat and tired limbs, he still pushed on, getting into battle stance and then performing a somersaulting series of slashes followed by deep stabs at the creature.

Thankfully, he landed a clean hit dropping its HP down quite a bit. He then retreated to a safe distance so his stronger allies could finish off the creature when their turn came up.

  2. After fusing with the orb, Eleanor paused for a moment. Looking down and into her hands, it was as though she could see her heartbeat, and even hear it. She even saw a glow reaching out from herself. Her body felt as though each limb was attached with it's own respective weights, pulling her down. Feeling the moistness of her skin begin to dry was quite the unfortunate side effect as well.

With a sigh, Eleanor didn't really want to experience what it was like to jump into that portal again, but it was something she would have to deal with if she wanted to bring herself back to where she was needed. And so, the sequence of tugging, pulling, and disproportionalization (not even a real word :O) of the pieces of her frame commenced. Parts that were meant straight began to bend, and parts that were often bent, reversed in origin. An uncomfortable, and nevertheless painful process, but a necessary one.

Appearing back within the zones of combat, Eleanor collapsed upon one of the giant... Balloons? Chuckling to herself, as she winced, still feeling the pain that accompanied traversing those damn portals, she muttered to herself, "This place is full of surprises, huh." A subtle comment to help somewhat quell the nerves that were rising up within her. Now was not the time for such feelings. It was as though she was shoving the garbage towards the bottom of it's bin with her foot, the way she responded to those sensations.

It appeared as though there was another balloon venturing towards her own, as Eleanor rose into a carefully balanced stance on the floating vessel of transportation, or so it seemed. Waiting for it to come closer, she soon boarded the separate balloon with the stranger, listening intently as the other gave a rundown of how this whole process was going to work, at least for the time being.

"Heh..." Certainly, it was insane. Hearing those words 'We will drop the catalyst as soon as a hole is made on his body.' Rubbing the back of her neck, she nodded to herself. "Well, alright. Let's get this show on the road, huh?" Eleanor murmured, a slight, uncontrollable quiver in her voice, a nervous smile across her visage. She stayed close to the light purple haired woman beside her, staring down as the fighting effort continued. It was hard to describe the scene as anything less than inspirational. A battleground of players, functioning with the same goal. It tugged roughly at Eleanor's shyness. This was so much greater than herself. "Who knew." She bit her dry bottom lip, muttering to herself. Life never ceased to make things interesting within the virtual world, did it?

Damn it, damn it, damn it... Too many things going on, too many different things happening all at once. The group that went to the elemental plane returning, the boots that Claire had no idea how they worked but just did, people going to Azog, to stand on the elemental as they hacked away at it-

So she wasn't paying attention. Fine, there it was. She was impatient, and tired, didn't know what the hell was going on through her blind panic at everyone nearby migrating en masse towards Azog and she wasn't paying attention to the little tiny creatures that had popped out of nowhere. And as she rushed to rejoin the others before they left her behind for good...

...she tripped on one of them. Tripped, and very nearly splattered herself in a nearby pool of magma that hadn't solidified yet, and wouldn't that be the most embarrassing way to go? Bad enough that the wretched thing was pointing and laughing at her, seemingly no worse for wear even after Claire had sent her full weight slamming into the creature.

...God, she hoped that nobody saw that.

Elysian was thankful for the heals and thirst repenishment but with the effects of the burning most of it was wasted. Though it did however give her just enough energy to attack, maybe not Azog but one of the other enemies. She smiled at @Kyupin Felnya who had moved towards her and grabbed her shoulder confidently. "We got this, see you back on the battlefield!" And with that the Felis bounded away, skittering across patches of cooled and molten lava. She grabbed three arrows and shot them in shockingly fast succession, sending out a barrage of arrows at one of the kindling embers. with how weak the creature already was it went down almost instantly and Ely grinned with satisfaction. She might be dead soon with her everlasting low health, but at least she could help while she was still standing. However long that would be.

There she was falling, her hands holding her dress as she fell cursing her little head of for everything she had to deal with so far today. When they tried to get her back to speed she did not even listen, taking the boots and storming her way into the area as she growled loudly.

    BURNING

This had to be be the end now, his strength was nearly gone, the heat was nearly draining him of his health and his strength, there was little chance now he would survive this battle. Truely the situation had become dire, everyone around him was in a similar situation but at least most of them had more health than him or were supported by others. For the most part he had been on his own and now he was paying for it he Supposed, he couldn't be help. His life just went from worse to complete shit when he saw a portal open with a number of beasts coming forth, no doubt summoned to save Azog from his demise. "Well I suppose this a fitting end to a warrior like myself, Very well I shall accept these terms for a warrior's death."He spat his blood from his mouth into the lava below before using all the willpower he had at his disposial to pick himself up, he didn't think he be sacrificing himself for these people, what a change he thought. For old times sake, he thought he kill this thing the old fashion way. Despite the extreme heat killing him almost literally to the point it was almost impossible to stand and he it was proving to be nearly impossible to breath, he stood his ground Gripping his blade for one final charge.

He slowled inhalled before exhaling as he tried to con trol his breath so he could focus better, he switched to a guard position similar to his last attack with his blade being closed to tim but near his head. Just like last time as well, this was proving to be even harder than before as he could feel his body nearly tapped out, most of, if not all his energy was gone but he would need what was left. Draining his blood vessals dried of their energy, unable to control it now being weak as he was, he slammed the energy from both his hands and into his Odachi's blade, thus taking on it's iconic purple aura. Unlike before he coudn't use his body as a conduit anymore for more energy or else he would knock himself out or die. He had no problem dying now but if he had a choice, he rather live through the battle. Taking one last breath in, he closed his eyes one last time before he dashed forward! Working through the pain using his sheer willpower alone, he charged the kindling which took noticed of the half dead ebony warrior which in returned retaliated with shooting fireballs at him. Barrelling rolling to the left and to the right, he quickly got back on his feet despite the pain and advanced. The Kingling's attack was murder on him as it shoot countless fireballs at him, the last he narrowly dodged with his life, half of his Cuirass had nearly melted off now. Ripping what was left of his cuirass, he contiuned his advance on the kingling until he was on top of the fucker. Going in for the kill, he brought down his blade

and slammed it into the kindling's side as he contiuned running passed it, tearing deeper into the beast. Falling to his knee's, the Kindling fell behind him before evaporating into nothing.
"Finally my duty......is finally done." With almost the last of his strength gone, he felt his life nearly over but there was one last thing he needed to see before he died, he needed to see Alia one last time. Looking around he saw Alia in the distance so wasting no time he made his way towards her as the heat and flames flickered about him with his blood running down his chest from his head and from his many other injuries. Coming up from beyond, he wrapped his arms around her and laid his head on her shoulder "Sorry my Ice Queen but I wanted to see you one last time before........I probably die, Promise me you kill this thing for me would you?" Instead of Seto's voice, it was Ryosuke's, he wanted to speak with her in his supposed final moments........

Sylpha had never gone skydiving before, but today she got to feel what it was like. Except, it was ten times more frightening because she didn't have a parachute on her or any magic that could slow her fall.

Thankfully, there was a balloon to catch her. Sylpha quickly spoke words of gratitude while she recovered from the trip she just went through.

Thanking the Monster Hunter for the boots, she equipped them and headed back out into the final fight.

Her first target was the small critters trying to free the lava. Opening her spell list from her palm menu, she randomly picked a spell and her character threw two bolts of purple energy in their general direction. One hit, and the other didn't.

Too many things were going on at once. He managed to figure out the boots given were to cross the cooled lava and onto Azog himself, but the unfortunate matter of fact was finding the right size. This game needed to adjust for bigger players. However, the situation was of dire need, and those thoughts were far from vital at this point in time. Being of the slower variety the man arrived in the zone at a later point. Damn. He needed to get his act together. Not only was the clock ticking at a far higher rate than before, but now adds were being summoned yet again. "I'm getting tired of these fuckin' adds," the Felis growled, rushing at one of the Kindling Embers.

Those beards has got to go. The one he targeted in particular was about to have a bad day.

Alonso crouched down, stumbling a bit to get used to the new footing. That just messed up part of his plan, delaying him even further. Someone was going to pay again. He was hurting, dehydration continued to rear its ugly head, and Azog was still alive. Roaring, the immense brawler charged a Tiny Gold Beard who was left alone. Prey cornered with no hope of survival. Arms spread wide, the aged player grabbed the Beard, slamming the bastard into the ground before mounting in pure martial arts style. Fists soon began to fly, the Gold Beard's head smashed from side to side, "This is your petty end!"

Grabbing the Beard by the shoulders, he leapt to his feet, before tossing his foe into the air. Then, he ran forward, jumping up and grabbing the mob, the slamming into the ground again, with the Tiny Gold Beard bent over the Felis's knee, "Vital Rupture!" Some part of him remember doing a similar action to a crazed wolf once.
