She looked up to the sky, squinting at the figure hurtling through the air. It was hard to see, her eyes tearing in the heat, but the UI was ever helpful and brought up a nametag. She knew this person. "Eleanor?" she squeaked, almost disbelieving. Why was her friend falling? What was she doing up there? She would... she would die! "Wait!" She reached out. Useless. Again. As always, ever the useless one. "No, please!" Her helpless cries died on her lips as @Eleanor Loan disappeared into Azog's gaping maw.

A hat floated through the air, carried along on the currents of hot wind into Kyupin's hands. Her heart stilled, eyes staring blankly at the fabric. No... There was nothing glorious about this kind of victory. Swallowing thickly, she tore her eyes from the hat and watched Azog with an incredible ferocity in her glare. Her friend would not die for nothing.

    The Jump

Lenestra sweat profusely as she observed the fighting, which had escalated even further because of the dwarves that came shooting out of the portal. She could only hope her fellow adventurers could deal with it before it was too late. Fortunately, they were able to deal with the last minute threat and brought Azog’s health to zero with combined effort.

Turning to the balloon operator, she shouted, “Okay, his health just hit zero. It’s time, go, go, go, get us as close to the hole as you can.”

Shifting her attention to Eleanor as the balloon slowly made its way toward Azog, she gave the nervous girl a firm squeeze on the shoulder. “The balloon won’t be able to withstand the volcanic heat so as soon as we’re right over the pit, you have to jump, okay? Do you think you can do that? Please get ready so there’s no hesitation okay? If you miss it’s all over for us,” Lenestra spoke with a concern in her voice. They only have ONE chance to get this right, there was no room for error. If Eleanor missed the hole and die, then there really isn’t a second chance…

Finally, the balloon hovered right above the hole formed by the attack squad. It was Eleanor’s turn to fulfill her part and jump. Although she hesitated for a brief second, the sense of duty overrode her fear as she jumped plummeted into Azog’s body. Although it may not have seemed like it, the inside of Azog felt more like air than anything. Although the pit wasn’t deep, Eleanor found herself sinking down further and further as though she was in water. The relic kept her from being consumed by the raw elemental fire that surrounded her. Finally, she reached Azog’s core, which was a massive black crystal at least six cubic feet. It was unlike anything she had seen in her limited time playing Terrasphere.

There was a blinding explosion within Azog. Eleanor was no more...

Then, in the blink of an eye, Azog’s entire body turned to ice from head to toes. With his sudden transformation was a massive tremor that radiated from Azog’s core. Without giving anyone time to react, Azog’s icy body started to fracture. The limbs fell first, followed by the rest of the body. It wasn’t long before everyone currently standing on top of Azog would find their untimely demise via a 100-feet fall.

    The Rescue

Given that the majority of the fighting forces had exhausted themselves fighting, they couldn’t react to Azog icy collapse at all. As such, it is the duty of anyone who still have some semblance of energy left to rescue as many people as they can. Simply run out onto the icy Azog and push or throw people onto zone 2, 7, or 9, where the spires are so they don’t plummet to the death.

Anyone who couldn’t be rescue will fall about 100-feet, taking 150 fall damage.

  2. And so the long battle has come to an end, the Prince of Fire has been extinguished when Eleanor or whatever had fulfilled her mission. Since he didn’t get a chance to get an attack in, he still had quite some energy left to cast a small platform that can house up to ten people. It wasn’t possible for him to save every person there, but at least his ice platform could shelter half of the weary attack force.

“Alright, let’s get to saving some people, prioritize the non-tanks, I think they are okay because of their passive” he turned and spoke to Ilusa who were near him.

Considering that the communication tool was still block, he decided to broadcast his message so everyone within the vicinity could hear him.

    Astor Balthas
I’ve set up a platform extending from the spire on zone 9, anyone who is able should get here.

Afterward, he ventured out into the unstable ice sculpture and began to throw people onto his platform. There was no time to be gentle. Even if they are roughed up at least they will still be alive.

“Come on, go, get on the damn platform already, stop dawdling around. Last one on my platform have to buy everyone ice cream, now go!!!” he shouted as he looked around and see others like @Beretta @Ilusa Nakhalee and @Ursa trying to get people to safety as well. The hope was that they could save everyone.

Once he was done, he looked at the pile of people huddled together on his tight platform and wiped his brows. While it may not have been everyone and their mother, 10 wasn't bad at all. Now here's to hoping no one slip on the ice and fall to their death.

  3. When the balloon arrived Beretta watched it with a a bit of relief. Even if it was just a game. Her body felt like it had been in a 100 mile marathon. Thank she worked out regularly. Wait this was not her actual body.... yeah, the heat was getting to her. This place was uncanny. Beretta was nearly naked at this point. So much of her clothes had burnt and or had to be torn off. She still could keep going though. It was not something she did to just give in to her exhaustion. There was a call out to grab everyone and get out of dodge. Sounded good to her. There was still more she wanted to know about all of this and she would need to analyse the data later, but for now....

The agent made a beeline for the balloon but turned and saw some people needed help to escape. Was this worth it? Yeah, you never know what kinds of connections and information could be gathered from a debt left unpaid. She lifted a woman onto her back and grabbed two pretty boy types by their collars. The armored one really slowed her down.

"Make room for four more... please... t-take them.... sigh."

Beretta said as she reached the balloon and almost collapsed.

  4. First, when she was not looking, Astor got himself kidnapped by the gorilla thing. Luckily he freed himself easily, not much later on, but it still had been worrying.

There was heat. There was smog. There was smoke. There was burning. It was choking. It hurt her lungs. It hurt her eyes. It hurt her body. It aggravated her wounds.

There were shouts, spells being chanted, weapons drawn and used. The enemies fell; to spellfire and weapons.

The Boss health was climbing down and maybe Ilusa should have used her energy to heal, but she was having slight problems. The woman behind the avatar found out that the situation was rather overwhelming and she felt as if there was blood on her hands and there were gunshots and explosions not made from magic. It was false, it was only in her mind, but that caused her to stand ontop of the elemental, still.

    Luckily, everything ended well.

    Luckily, the relic worked.

Luckily, the heat and burning ceased.

In fact, the elemental and his surroundings turned into giant icy sculpture; the sudden shift in the temperature brought her back from the memory lane.

Thus the woman who made Ilusa her avatar woke to a new situation. Her eyes looked around and seeing the almost artistic beauty, she pressed the capture screen, even as she was noticing the cracks and the slow way the frozen boss was breaking.

Ilusa saw his limbs creaking ominously, lines and cracks showing, deepening. Shivering a little she looked around and then down, onto the long fall; she was pretty sure fall damage killed. What was once lava was now a slowly breaking apart lake of ice.

Her limbs shook, but as Astor spoke, she nodded. Yet, then she hesitated, because, the tanks did such great job. They protected them, they took the burnt of the damage, they made it possible for her to be here. Her moment of indecision, made her see Astor taking people along (and one person who refused to go with him, that healer of whom she had been jealous, the looks she was shooting the woman who had been using undead made her ponder if she perhaps was not a non-player).

No. She could not leave the tanks. Not when other people prepared to save others and it seemed to her that it would be enough. Thus she opened palm menu and cast on herself a speed buff; the downside of it was that during its activation she could not attack or cast any other spells.

Thus she ran towards @Stelluna. Like a breeze, she grabbed her and pulled, ice creaking underneath her legs. The moment she pushed the woman onto the spire, she ran back, grabbing the nearest person, who happened to be @Gilgamesh Ougami and got him to safety. Then she ran back, the ice slowly starting to crumble beneath her feet. Quickly she climbed up, back to where she last saw @Roland Rutledge. Grabbing him, she ran with him, like crazy, ice falling down around them and shattering behind them as with last push, they were safe.

That done, she could for now capture the sights... And plan whom to heal next.

  5. profile

The heat, the arid air, the perspiration that somehow left her feeling both drenched and yet dried out simultaneously...many of the other players seemed to be doing okay — or at least, they were sucking it up and dealing with the disadvantageous circumstances, but Amane needed a break. She'd never been one for sports, or any sort of exertion, really, and though technically in this world the fitness of her body wasn't exactly an issue, as long as her brain thought that her body should be tired, it felt almost as if her very bones were weighed down with coal, and every ragged breath that she took practically inhaled more soot than oxygen at this point. Sure, she felt a little guilty that she wasn't doing her part to the fullest, but the brief respite that they'd been given priorly was long over, the spells that she had been casting after that was starting to drain her, both mentally and literally, her energy bar a smidgen of blue when compared to how it was at the beginning of the battle.

At any rate, it seemed like her help wasn't needed. For a heart-stopping moment the felis had frozen in shock from her vantage point on top of the spire as a player (bravely, foolishly?) jumped into Azog's core, the boss imploding into a sheet of frost in the wake of their actions, banishing the heat that she had such problems with. Though the mage didn't even notice the change in temperature, too caught up in processing that a player had just been willing to sacrifice their life, and so easily as well. With fumbled words — heart seized in alarm — she began casting a resurrection spell, only snapping her jaw shut when the telltale glow of another revive illuminated the temple, someone apparently having taken action before her. And it was only then, with everyone safe, that it started to dawn on her. Oh, the fight's over.

Of course, the worst case scenario had to happen. Murphy's Law, and all that. By then, her energy had recovered quite a bit, and though she hadn't been very necessary to the fight, she was well-rested; this was something she could do. A quick gesture later and her consciousness hurtled across the span of the temple, cold suddenly radiating off the icy floor she now stepped on. "Everyone, if you can still move, fall back!" She yelled, grabbing onto the person closest to her, before teleporting back to the spire that she'd came from, biting back the queasiness that shot to the bottom of her gut on impact. Swallowing down the bout of nausea, she blinked one more time onto the fracturing form of Azog, desperately casting her gaze around for anyone that hasn't yet been saved, even as the ground started to break way beneath her feet.

Standing beside an ice platform that someone else had erected, a blond girl — the support that she had noticed earlier — looked like she was blatantly refusing to get on it. Though curious, Amane didn't have time to question or ponder the girl's reasons: they needed to get off the boss, and off it now. "Sorry," the felis said, snatching her arm none too gently as her other hand mimed the required gestures. Seconds later the world would dissolve around the two of them, reforming into a bird's view as Amane appeared once more atop the spire.

  6. Seeing everyone had been saved that couldn't save themselves before she even had a chance, Solaria found herself with a bright smile, running to join those she knew and heal some folks that she knew were injured. Taking her Nightingale's Oath that was in her future quite seriously, she made it her mission to give health and healing to anyone in the escape vessels, taking care of burns and bruises alike.

"We're lucky we all got out of that alive," She mused, her smile growing ever so slightly as she let light come out of her hands to help those in need. "Now, if we had a proper triage for this situation...We could really use an emergency room next time, or a general station for it. Aftermath is still painful, even if we're saved."

Remembering her own pain from the burns she'd sustained, she laughed a bit. "Maybe I should heal myself next..." Well, she could wait. At least it was all over.

  7. “AYE ‘DIS GODDAMN BOILER IS FUDGIN’ ANNOYING!” Ursula kicked her steam mech suit to relieve her frustration, though the backlash in form of pain on her right foot wasn’t very enjoyable. As fate would have it, the suit sprung back to life much like the last time. But if it only worked by being kicked, could it be that… It was masochistic, in a way? Ursula scratched the back of her head in an attempt to understand just why the thing started working again out of nowhere. With a quick shrug, she entered her mech and made her way to the group only to notice that something seemed strange. There was a platform and it seemed the ice layer was giving in to the weight, shattering oh so slowly.

“Wait… Oh sheetos, sheetos SHEETOS!” The engine on the back of her suit hissed a great amount of steam filling the air with a vicious sound of machinery as she approached the zone where people needed help. From various mechanical compartments within the her steam suit, spiders automata spiders quickly emerged and shot towards the people in need of help; they quickly pulled whoever they could out of danger, while Ursa herself pulled the last biggest ones with her own extendable gloves. With a few of the people she’d know saved, she sat back quietly on top of the spire. Ursula was way more exhausted than she would like to admit.

“Aye, this was one hell of a bumpy ride...”

  8. After witnessing the cosmic dunking upon of Ragnaros and the elemental's subsequent defeat, Aporia had a feeling that things wouldn't end so smoothly. Gathering her things she prepared for whatever might happen next, which was, sure enough, a pitfall.

Seeing @Astor Balthas pull through on something for once, Aporia decided to take a chance on her feline nature and used Rogue to pounce onto the platform. Skidding on all fours, she barely managed to hang on.

    "ahahaha wow....uh...uhhhhmmmm..."

Turning, Aporia saw various people flying at her face, either thrown in her direction by 'the now and disfuture king' or by some other means.

Taking a low stance she caught those that needed it one by one and rolled them around her. It was like being a catcher in a high-stakes baseball game, but Aporia didn't mind, this kind of labor was more to her element.

With another crisis averted, Aporia kicked a stray ice cube off the edge and listened...

"Soooooo how do we get on down? Don't know about you lovelies, but I am mighty fancyin a bath right about now. I can feel my sweat getting clammy~<3"

    Azog Prince of Fire
    ❰ 0000 / 7000 HP ❱

After the explosion triggered by @Eleanor Loan, Azog’s body and the lava immediately froze over. Just as quickly as they turned to ice, the 100-feet tall titan and his surroundings started to break into thousands of pieces and plow downward into the previously boiling volcanic mouth. The corpses of dead players, NPCs, fire walker, broken Golden Beards, butchered corpses of Magma Apes, bent spears, broken swords, and hundreds of splintered arrows lodged inside Azog… the collapse took with it all remnants of battle scattered across the icy field.

The adventurers who had made it to safety watched on as the ice shattered. Meanwhile, the fleet of hot air balloons operated by the Ynglar Brotherhood and the Monster Hunter League could be seen cutting through the thick steam rising up into the night sky as the volcano’s heat melted the massive amount of ice fragments fallen into its pit. The people inside the aircraft waved and cheered for the heroes who had valiantly risked their lives to stop Azog.

Lenestra’s balloon was one of the first to land next to the icy platform Astor had made. Before he could get a word in, she started bawling. “Y-your Highness... everyone... L-Lenestra is so glad everyone is alive. We were so helpless toward the very end, I’m so sorry everyone almost died. Thank you so much for your service!”

With eyes still wet with tears, Lenestra stood upright and saluted everyone who was nearby as a string of snot dangled down from her nose. It seemed Eleanor’s sacrifice touched her more than anyone could imagine. Rubbing away the tears and snot that had sullied her charming face, Lenestra gave one last sniffle as she gestured the rest of the fleet to come closer. Once the balloons were at a proper height, the operators and members of the prestigious factions started helping the injured aboard.

Considering that most of the people who participated in the battle against Azog were heavily injured, Lenestra negotiated with the fleet carrying the adventurers to drop them off at Pelham Springs, on the southern border of Astorea and Norfova. It would take them roughly four hours to arrive and take care of their needs.

The rest of the fleet stayed behind to salvage everything they could find at the pit of the lava. It was never the League’s interest to waste anything that remotely useful.

The cultist whom the relic-retrieval team rescued from the Firelands died a horrible death as his body slammed against the side of the volcano and tumbling the rest of the way down like a ragdoll. Fortunately for Ivan, he was resurrected by @Temperance and found himself next to her the next time he opened his eyes. When he realized that he had not only been rescued, given a chance to redeem himself, but also another chance at life, the scraggly man started weeping as hard as when death took his most beloved person and turned him to the life of a cultist.

“I will do my best to life the life of the righteous from now on, thank you miss,” Ivan spoke with a shaky voice, unable to hold back his sob between the words.

Just as the girl called out to him once more, he quickly straightened himself and had one last look at the place where his old self had died and he was reborn again. It seemed the fire at the pit of the raging volcano had lit a flame in his eyes. Turning away from the mouth of the volcano, the man quickly cast a spell that allowed him to teleport himself onto the nearest balloon flying away.
