  3. It would be a long time before she found another of these curious creatures by it's lonesome. As time passed Sylpha started to think that they were not creatures but automatons of some sort. Yet, she did not have any conclusive evidence of such since she didn't dare to get too close to one to begin with.

Selecting another of her spells from her spell list her finger started to write in the air, using the crystals to hide her gestures. Popping out, she fired the completed spell. A small bolt of arcane energy flew into the distance and by the time the target was struck, the blue-haired Yladian was nowhere to be seen.

Likewise, the result was when she came back, the creature - and the gem it was here for - was also nowhere to be seen.

  6. Having tested a few arrows of various types on the hardy frame of the floating abomination, Gwyn was on the edge of losing her patience. It wouldn't ever quite classify well as a hunt at this point. The creature- well, that was just it wasn't it? It wasn't anything natural she had ever seen, even considering the nature of the fantastical world around her. It didn't act like something sentient either with the narrowly focused task. She couldn't say it wasn't sentient though. One could never really know for sure until proven one way or another and she wasn't going to stop for a conversation over tea. Gross leaf water.

The face twitched to follow her, the body floating behind it in an unsettlingly disjointed manner, with each and every attempted strike. Normally her aim would have held true, but it was hard to keep a bead on it when constantly having to dance out of the way of incoming streaks of energy. She paused when one charge took longer and hissed out a startled noise as it trembled faintly. In a blur of movement she took off to her left and slid into a controlled dive behind a crystallized, upturned tree trunk. The beam managed to singe her coattails and nothing more. This time. Was it getting better at predicting her movements? Or maybe she just needed a fucking drink and a nap. "Hey! Reject offspring of the uncanny and silicon valleys! If I offer a truce does that shit hold?" She called out over the sound of the retaliatory attacks. The ranger was beginning to think it might be time to call it a day before one of those actually found purchase.

  9. "Magi hass seen worse, yep.... it's not that big.... it's arms.... not that long.... and it's face is ummmmmm..... uhhhh!"

No, this was somehow creepier than the big spider thingy. Oooooh what kind of freaky game was this anyway? Was nothing censored? Magi Heart kept backing up a bit more and began to charge her arrow with light magic. This ugly, gross, nasty,.... thingy! She fired and the attack hit clean but the creature seemed to just shrug it off. Luckily it was slow and did not seem to want to come after her at speed yet. It was definitely trying to keep her out of this area though. Was there nothing Magi Heart's arrows could beat? Did she always need help? Allies were her source of strength this was proven to her before but it would be nice to not need someone around to fight every little thing. Magi was starting to get bored of this disillusion. Maybe it was almost time to give up Terrasphere. The feeling returned to her again. If only for a second.

  12. Alpha didn't like creatures that seem to have been derived from a B-rated horror movie with curiously adequate CGI, thank you very much. The creature seemed to have a certain air to it that unnerved Alpha down to the core and, while she had definitely wanted to wipe that thing's unnatural existence off the planet, she hesitated. A cold chill crawled down her spine and her mouth felt dry and parched. The hand which held her blade shook and, as she once again attacked with her innate agility, she felt her dagger miss its awfully large target and, as she was sent flying off to the side from that fumble, she quickly did a saving roll and turned around.

She bit her lip anxiously but, despite her clumsy error, she was now standing behind the creature. Surely she could make a successful move with such an opening? She readied her magic. If daggers didn't work then maybe some good old nature magic will.

  15. Elysian was really testing her luck and she knew sooner or later it would run out. At the moment though she didn't care, she just wanted one of those gems for herself! So once it sounded like the metal creature had left she snuck out from her cover and silently made her way towards another. If hitting it with an arrow wasn't working she'd find another way! Gathering up all her courage she jumped as high as she could, kicking off a tree for more speed and landing directly on top of the cold metal form of its body.

Instantly the thing started screeching like crazy and flying around at insane speed to knock her off. Elysian tried her best to stay on, digging her dagger into the middle of the hatch on its back and tried to pry it open. It wouldn't give an inch, and the most she did was scratch the surface a bit. Metal claws tried to grab at her and with a curse she jumped and flipped away from her target, landing gracefully on the crystallized ground. Yet another failed attempt as she made her way behind a tree until it forgot about her.

  18. Even with all her might and arcane power put into that one clean strike, Eldhi didn't make achieve anything but slightly denting its prism-shaped frame. Just what was this creature made of?! "Tch!" Eldhi knew what came next, the moment she caught a flash of purple at the corner of her red eyes. There wasn't enough time to dodge, she just wasn't fast enough.

"Hmpgh!" Bracing herself, the white-haired knight stretched out her left arm, palm opened, casting a hexagon-patterned barrier of light in front of her. The creature then unleashed its purple ball of doom, slamming straight onto Eldhi's barrier, shattering it. The arcane shield took some of the damage but the rest went through, enough to send the knight reeling.

This creature was an affront to life, the universe, and everything!

  21. Refusing to give up, the small girl boldly moved in to attack once more. If she sang just a bit louder, perhaps her voice would aid her in growing a plant that would really reach that beast and destroy it, winning her the chance to write about the beautiful gem from careful observation.

The plant had reached to wrap around, but the vine idly fell to the ground once more. "I really need to work on my singing exercises, don't I?" Pouting, she put her hands on her hips, trying to at least sing the plant back to life, but to no avail. Without delay, she merely lifted it off the ground, wrapping it around her like a limp belt. "Sorry, viney...Ah, now that I think of it...I wonder if Drip can help?"

Yes, she'd finally named her new pet- a small slime that snuggled up next to her, as transparent as an unpolluted sea. She'd named it solely out of desperation, but used an old phrase she'd heard as a child to help her. "He's so small right now, though...I'll probably just worry if you get hurt, huh, buddy?"

  24. While Eleanor had narrowly evaded the last attack on her with her life, instinct ran through her blood. She wished to run, hide, and perhaps just flee from the ordeal altogether. But... Part of her enjoyed the danger of it. The thrill of the hunt ran in her blood, but not just the hunt, but the competition.

With a deep breath, another ring around the rosie technique was applied, though this one was much less successful. The creature, having fallen for the trick once, was able to reposition itself effectively enough to turn and meet the girl, as she came up on it's flank. As part of it began to glow, a mere instant away from blasting her head off with an arcane blast, Eleanor swiftly placed her hands upon the ground.

Teleportation was a technique she had used before, but not mastered. She was still working out the kinks, but given a solid forty seconds of preparation, she could effectively teleport herself ten or fifteen feet forward, yet forty generous seconds were not hers, and she had a mere instant to react.

From the ground, she found herself a moment later in the air. "Wah?!" Coming down from about ten feet up, she had avoided the blast, landing directly where she had been before, hard. With a thud, she landed on her hands and knees. Biting her lip, she glared up a the creature. Hopefully, by some miracle, the clumsy magician would be able to withstand and succeed in the confrontation, but... It seemed that might be a very unlikely outcome at this point.

  27. Ash panted, resting her hands on her knees. She looked to have escaped her latest pursuers, and after leaping over a little ledge and sliding down a slope into what looked like a miniature valley, she finally had a moment to catch her breath. Those things were aggressive and rather territorial about their excavation sites.

She had a few moments to think on what she was going to do now when a scratching sound caught her attention. Looking up, she winced as she realized that it was another of those hovering, digging things.

But the difference was, this one looked preoccupied with scratching at the dirt, and looked oblivious to her presence. Ideas began forming in her mind, ill-conceived and likely not even a decent decision, much less the best one. But it was frustrating being forced to run obstacle courses every time she accidentally bumped into one of these things. Ash figured that payback was only fair.

She took a moment to concentrate, and then traced the runes of her favorite vine restraint spell in the air. Two pale green vines lashed out from the ground and wrapped around the thing, and Ash grinned in triumph.

Only she shouldn't have started celebrating so soon. The creatures' thin arms were deceptively strong--their claws could even crack stone. So seemingly without expending any effort at all, it grabbed the vines and ripped out of the restraints, turning its blank face towards Ash.

She didn't even have time to swear before ducking to avoid the incoming energy blast.

  30. The Crystallised Zara was a new and exciting place that she went to out of curiosity. If there was one thing she had to admit, it was that the land was trully beautiful. True, the reason for that beauty was horrifying, an infection that turned all fauna and flora into crystal, but it did not diminish the beauty of the place.

Ilusa was enjoying her stroll and with her artistic side awakened, she made many screenshots; even if that meant climbing up the crystallised trees. Sometimes, she stood still as she watched a monster that was alive and yet made of crystal walk past (and also made the picture of them). It was exciting. Some crystallised things were fragile, but sharp. Stepping on some of the grass caused it to break. Some was hard and durable. Of course curious as she was, she also pocketed few crystals from here and there.

Though overall, the place was very quiet and seemingly cold. The light reflected oddly and beautifully from those crystals and there was no fauna and flora she was used to, only crystal followed by more crystal and even more crystal.

    Beautiful but still.

However this peaceful moment was destroyed by a sound of crystals being destroyed.

The Felis quickly found the source of the horrible noise (glass breaking, nails scratching glass). A thing. Odd, mechanical and very out of the place in the crystallised forest.

Then Ilusa noticed that in its mechanical arms it was holding a beautiful gem. The dead looking eyes looked at her, but then past her, clearly ignoring her. It was picking up the gem and readying to fly away, when Ilusa decided to pick a fight with it. “Take that!” An offensive spell of light hit it. There was something about the combination of dead human head and the metal that just freaked her out.

Of course a single hit was not enough to defeat it, so she readied herself to a fight gripping her wand as those dead eyes locked on her.

  33. The archer sighed irritably as the odd enemy she'd found to face entirely ineffectively continued with the deluge of attacks. She reached to pull an arrow to string, but paused. What would she gain from this? It was beginning to get pointless. It was no creature she'd enjoy taking a trophy of and she had no knowledge as to the purpose of the gems themselves that the thing was digging up. Gwyn didn't do fear and she didn't shy from a challenge, but really what challenge was there here to be had? Well, besides the test of her footwork and tenacity.

Gwyn poked her head up in between shots to leer at the thing for a moment, not surprised in the least it had ignored her admittedly joking offer from before. Or it didn't care for it because of the insult. Not that it should have been able to understand that in the least. Finally it stopped for a moment, though it didn't yet turn to flee or continue its task. Well, that was enough of an opening to take her leave. She dug her boots in and fell into a sprinter's crouch behind the stone. Another few heartbeats passed and she shot off as fast as she could away from it. The weird fucker certainly wasn't catatonic though and proved it with a last beam burning its way across her right shoulder as she cut away last minute into the crystalline biome. Fucker. She hoped it choked on those precious damn gems.

  36. Nothing she was doing was working! Magi Heart felt the need to run, the creature was wiggling it's long boney arms out at her and tried to grab her. Magi yelped and leaped back to almost slip and slide onto her butt like last time she did that. The girl was pretty sure that for some reason the game was just not friendly towards the people who played it. There was very little fun to be had here and she was not saving anyone from evil doers so....

Magi Heart left. What a disappointment. She was still unable to accept these kinds of monsters. It would give her nightmares for a week now... sigh.

  39. "Seriously?!" Alpha groaned as her blast of magic seemingly did no damage at all to the floating being. The green projectile had splashed against its hull and dripped off like the dying sparks of a firework, leaving not a single bruise or scratch. A wave of indignation ran through her; it was as if the monster's very existence was taunting her and riling her up to new heights. She struggled to keep her irritation in check and a vein popped on her forehead. She rubbed that little manifestation of her rage and, with a small trickle of blood streaming down her lower lip (punctured by her bite), she prepared her magic once again. This time, however, she'll be going all out. There's no way that thing could stand up to this, right?

  43. It was on her way back to the shelter that Temperance stumbled upon more of those strange creatures, rooting through the ground like a pack of hungry boar searching for grubs and truffles to gorge themselves on. Their mouths hung agape and sighed out shuddering breaths which were visible in the cold air, so she knew they were... alive? But nothing about them seemed naturally occurring. She stared at the way their metal arms twitched and moved like puppets under their control, chipping away at clusters of crystal and stone in order to collect their strange prizes. She wanted one! If only to have something to take to that Younglove Brotherhood that Ivan had joined, so she could speak to the man again and see how he was doing. They were magic sorts there, and might understand these gross things better than she could. But she was tired and panting, and injured from the chase one of them had given her earlier... phooey!

  46. "Just give me a damn gem!"
The Felis shouted as she rushed yet another of these nightmare fuel creatures. She wasn't holding back, sending out arrow after arrow and ignoring the fact that they were bouncing off and were doing no damage. Sooner or later one of them would have to do something right? There had to be a way to get these things to open and she was going to figure it out one way or another.

Or maybe the fiend had other plans. This time when it sent out an arcane blast, Elysian was too close and too distracted to even dodge. The blast hit her dead on, causing her to stumble and roll to the ground. "Ughhhh," she groaned, scrambling to her feet and crawling behind a tree. The creep kept shooting blasts at her but luckily she didn't get hit again. She had to go at this a different way, but what was that exactly?
