100 HP MAX HP 100 EN MAX EN Rig was beginning to get irritated. He stood up and shook off the broken crystal and glittering dust from his fall. He looked up from where he was struck and saw that the pyramid fiend was still clawing away at the ground. Rig began to lightly chuckle, then laugh under his breath, then roar with laughter that echoed through the crystalline forest. "So that's how it's going to be, eh bloke? Fine! I don't care what it is you're doing, but I cannot let ya go anymore ya slag! With that Rig charged forward. He wasn't certain if his geomancy would work with the crystals that encompassed everything. No matter. He was going to do a good ole fashioned Rig greeting. He brought his hammer up behind his head as he neared the creature and with a roar he brought the hammer down with all of his might. The hammer struck the body of the monstrosity with a resounding clang. Dust and particles filled the air from his blow that covered his vision and made him cough. As the glittering dust cleared from his view, he glanced at the blow that he just caused...and saw it didnt even leave a mark. "Oh crikey..." He whispered under his breath. 32 Roll Link
100 HP MAX HP100 EN MAX EN Its attention firmly locked on her, the thing whirled and turned to face her fully. The dead milky eyes stared at her. It floated closer and she could see even better how unnatural it was; not only because of the dead human head put into it, but because of the almost sci-fi look the thing had. ‘I thought this was supposed to be a fantasy genre game?!’ Was her panicked thought as the metallic arm started to whirl and aimed at her. “Eeek!” The Felis let out a scream, tail standing up and ears flat, fur raised; she somehow avoided the arcane blasts. It was more to do with her luck, than her ability. When stumbling back, she tripped over a stone; which made her fall and roll on all fours, but it also made the attack to miss her. Ilusa scrambled back to her feet, glaring at the thing. It really looked cybernetic, with tubes of some sort connecting to the dead head. A shiver went down her spine and she brandished her wand, hitting it with her own blast of light- Which did no visible damage at all! “Ugh!” An annoyed huff escaped her at the seemingly lacklustre performance, but as she stared intently at the thing, its health-bar showed that she did actually cause damage to it. Even if it was small. The Felis glanced at her wand, then at the enemy that was gathering arcane power again. “Mhm. Nope.” She murmured, running to the side and avoided one blast, then continued to run, avoiding another blast, then she stopped ad the place she would have been was hit with the blast. Her ears were still flat and she stilled. This time it was her time to start the chant while aiming at the thing. roll 71 (Roll) Easy Pickings
100 HP MAX HP 100 EN MAX EN Staring at the gem's guardian beast, she groaned, until her small slimey friend moved from her side and into an attack. "Drip, wait!" She hadn't formulated a plan yet- and how exactly did a slime fight anyway? Still, the slime fought bravely in her place, its liquid body trying to encapsulate the his master's enemy. Alas, it was no use. It repelled her friend as it had her vines, almost as if it had a barrier against magic. But wait, there was no real magic in just jumping onto a thing as water, was there? "Now that I think about it, I don't really get slimes at all...I should do some research and come back. 65 (Roll) Easy Pickings
100 HP MAX HP 100 EN MAX EN This time, Sylpha could not find any of the curious gemstone-extractors. Instead, she came across a scene that was clearly the aftermath of a battle. The gem to be extracted as well as the creature were both gone, but it was clear that someone had achieved success in their efforts to hunt down one of these things. And that person was not Sylpha. Logical, considering how Sylpha was rather new to the game and did not expect to be lucky enough to somehow hunt one of them before anyone else could. However, there was some feeling about the scene that made Sylpha linger longer than she should have, before she moved on to search for more of her hunting target. 99 Roll Link
50 HP MAX HP 50 EN MAX EN Those stupid ugly beasties! She watched as one drifted near the entrance to the shelter, whose doors seemed closed against the possible threat that the things posed. If she was going to take a hot bath and get some god damned sleep any time soon, she was going to have to either fight or run her way past that thing! Summoning her courage, she sent a volley of hail down upon the thing, listening to the hollow thud of ice striking its metal shell. The thing let out a ghastly roar just like the other had. "Mistakes were made!" Temperance sobbed, running from its arcane bolts as it chased her around in circles, craters forming from where each blast missed. Splatters of blood decorating the ground every time it made contact. She did what she could to keep herself alive, hurling ice at it when possible, desperate for an opening to get inside the shelter. 44 Roll Link
100 HP MAX HP 100 EN MAX EN So, those monsters definitely seemed territorial or, at the very least, protective of those gems. So then, what would happen if he tried to show that he meant no harm, and just wanted to learn how to get those sweet, sweet gems? Kylar again found one digging into the ground and non-chalantly began walking over towards the thing. "Hey, would you mind--" Bam! A magical blast hit the ground right in front of him. Not wanting to die, Kylar again retreated, hoping to find a different tactic. 88 Roll Link
75 HP MAX HP 75 EN MAX EN If that wild west music with the harmonica could be playing, it certainly would, as Eleanor rose to her feet, face to face with the contraption. It seemed, somewhere on both of their forms, they prepared their own, not to dissimilar arcane blasts for one another. Locked in a heated stare, the two waited for which would act first. A sound to set them off, perhaps the cracking of a branch in the distance, and-- Pow! Both threw their attacks. In a clash of light a power, Eleanor was temporarily blinded. While she could not see, the apparent pain radiating through her palm was obvious. It seems, in the trading of blows, she had come out the most scathed, and as she began to see more clearly, she saw that the being was most definitely still intact. And so, she did the smartest thing she could think of, and hightailed it out of there, leaving without a goodbye, or any sort of courtesies. It wasn't the classiest exit, but it was certainly the most safe one. Zipping to and fro through the trees, she avoided line of sight with the being until she was back out of the forest, turning to look back into the crystalline wood. "Well... That was interesting." Panting, she rested her hands on her hips, staring up towards the wondrous forest. Pointing a finger accusationally at the woods, she sighed. "Not making that mistake again. I'm leaving." Turning around she left, without a gem, but with her life. And who is to say that wasn't a gem of it's own? 90 Roll Link
75 HP MAX HP 75 EN MAX EN Okay. No more running this time. It was exhausting going about all over the place trying to get away, and with her luck, she'd just run into another one of these things and have to escape from that one too. Besides, she didn't think they'd be so forgiving now that she had actually tried to attack it. Letting her makeshift shield drop, Ash aimed a blast of energy at it again, causing a giant Venus Flytrap-like creature to sprout from the earth behind the thing. Its jaws clamped shut around the miner, but whatever material its body was made from was too strong. The plant retreated after only one bite with the mining creature no worse for wear. It didn't turn around to try and deal with the already-disappearing plant like Ash had expected. This time, it remained trained on her, and thus she wasn't as quick to get out of the way of this next energy blast. It caught her in the shoulder, and she let out a hiss of pain as the arcane attack enveloped her upper arm. "Not great," she muttered to herself, ducking behind another conjured wooden shield. Now what was she going to do? 38 Roll Link
75 HP MAX HP 75 EN MAX EN As soon as the words "Oh crikey" left his lips the machine seemed to finally be completely fixated on him. Its limbs and head creaked with strange machinery as it spun like a top. The arms, once again, throwing him into the air. He landed and tried to roll as gracefully as he could. When Rig caught his footing, he looked up to see the monstrosity staring down at him with those pale eyes and its mouth ajar. There seemed to be some kind of strange energy that was being drawn into it's mouth. Almost as if... "Oh CRIKEY!" he cried again as the monstrosity blasted his direction with an arcane blast. 60 Roll Link
50 HP MAX HP50 EN MAX EN She thought this was going to be easy. It sounded easy! But every attempt had failed and now she was actually getting hurt in the process. Was this gem so worth it? Seeing all the other players attempting said yes, but not if she died in the process. "Ah hell, let's do this," she said with all the confidence she could muster and ran out from her cover. Almost instantly she was met with arcane blasts from two different directions. Those cheaters! Elysian dodged the best she could, rolling and jumping and ducking. Before she could get away however one of them hit her and she growled with annoyance as she dove behind yet another tree. Bringing up her UI she could see she was down to half health. One more try, and even if she hated to she would have to give up if she failed again. 97 Roll Link
75 HP MAX HP 75 EN MAX EN She'd come back for another shot, and this time she was way more prepared- or so she'd figured. What Harveste didn't know was that the gem's guardian had started to practice attacking and not just defending itself from enemies- meaning now, she had to not only attack, but evade. And this thing was strangely quick! Hit by some form of magic she couldn't even begin to describe, the girl found herself flung back in an attempt to rush in with help from a vine. For once, her plant stood tall- but she'd fallen face first into the ground, groaning. "Ow...That really hurt..." That was quite the fall she'd taken- it took out a fourth of her health in less than a minute! She looked around for her pet, finding she'd landed upon it. "You okay Drip? Maybe we weren't prepared yet after all..." 63 (Roll) Easy Pickings
100 HP MAX HP 100 EN MAX EN Alright, well, if those things didn't like kind questions, maybe they'd react differently to interrogation? Begging? What could he do- As Kylar stepped over the cresh of a hill, there was another monster right in front of him. As he stood there, shocked, it turned like a spinning top towards him and bellowed an agressive noise. When that was done, it began preparing its magic. Kylar ran, praying that it wouldn't follow to far. 67 Roll Link
50 HP MAX HP 50 EN MAX EN The duel between man and machine, flesh, and metal, biological and artificial continued on the crystalline field. Sparks flew each time Eldhi's longsword made contact with the floating contraption's frame. Even after all the hits it received, the creature was still clicking and ticking about, glowing 'eyes' gazing right into Eldhi as if wanting to steal a soul it never had. "By Tyl! Just break already!" With a snarl, the white-haired knight made a powerful overhead cleave! "What?!" Only for the machine to literally catch the blade with a pair of its metal arms. Impossible! "Gah!" Two arms occupied meant it still had the two rest free, the oddly intelligent creature used it fire a purple arcane blast. At point blank range. 9 roll #5 / 7 Roll Link
50 HP MAX HP 50 EN MAX EN Staggering from one blow, Ash dropped to her knees. She scrambled to her feet from that not a moment too soon, as the next blast let out slammed into her chest. If she'd just been a moment slower in getting up, it would have caught her full in the face. She stumbled back a few steps, hitting the rock wall of the small pit she had found herself in. Ughh, not great. Ash did the same thing again and brought up a shield once more. She was burning through energy at this rate, and didn't know how much longer she could keep up fighting. The thing seemed to shrug off whatever attack she could muster. The venus flytrap hadn't worked, the acid spitting plant hadn't worked, and it tore through restraining vines as easily as tissue paper. And it never stopped! When she caught the telltale glow of an incoming blast peeking around the corner of her dome shield, she bolted. Luckily this one only grazed her, but it still stung like hell. Grimacing, Ash ducked behind some more cover. She really couldn't last much longer. 9 Roll Link
25 HP MAX HP 25 EN MAX EN This was her last chance and Elysian was going to make the best of it. With her back against the tree, her only cover, she closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths. Her body was stinging from the blasts but she knew she could take at least one more hit before dying. She hoped. Yet she doubted one of those things could attack her for half health, they hadn't so far. Her fingers itched to grab onto one of those mysterious gems and she set her amber eyes with determination. Time to not hold back. In the next moment she was sidestepping away from her cover with her shortbow aimed and ready. "Eat this!" she yelled as her arrow glowed with a white aura and shot out at almost blinding speed. It hit the gem holder dead on, the thing screeching out in fury as it shook the attack off. "Still hungry eh?" She growled as she sent out another power-imbued arrow. This one managed to break off a part of its metal claws and it freaked out. Eyes glinted red and Elysian started backing up slowly. "Uh okay so you're not hungry," she joked as she turned and ran. Not fast enough as yet another blast hit her and this time on her leg. "Dammit," Elysian winced as she limped into a denser part of the forest where she knew she'd be safe. Her health was blinking, and with how she felt she knew it was over. No matter how much she wanted a gem she wasn't going to get her first death because of it. Hell with that. "You win this time you metal freaks," she said under her breath as she made her escape and didn't look back. 23 Roll Link
