  1. The front gates of the Stony Tor Arena were not gilded, but grand. Massive and steel, with a portcullis of barbed iron before it, the entrance spoke of the character of this place. Cold, hard and unforgiving. Beyond the gates lay a small courtyard in which several guards stood post. There were empty lots where trader stands could be set up, but the Arena was presently closed for... repairs. Looking about, there did not seem to be any damage in need of mending. Nor were there working crews shoring things up and fixing the place. The grates in the ground which allowed air to go down to subterranean levels where creatures were kept produced the sounds of many deadly monsters, but no sawing or hammering. The mysterious nature of these repairs was answered when a half-familiar figure arrived from a nearby staircase, green robes wrapped about her. A warning flashed above the woman's body in flashing red, very different from the "ON PAR" and "THREATENING" of the guards in the courtyard.

I see you made it. Mister Rutledge. Miss Hirota, Miss Harveste. The Master welcomes you to his Arena, and thanks you for accepting his challenge. If we have not been properly introduced before then allow me to amend that: I am Speaker, the voice and will of the Arena Master. Through me, he conducts his business, allowing him to remain reclusive. As discussed in the missive sent to Mister Rutledge, should he survive six bouts within the Arena, he will be rewarded with a suitable prize for his erm... fortitude and prowess.

She grinned, seemingly amused at that notion, then steeled herself and returned to a professional manner once more. Her eyes drifted to Amane and narrowed ever so slightly, as if looking beyond the woman at something 'more' happening about her.

As for you fine ladies... Harveste, I'm afraid we have little to offer you outside of gold, should you survive. Miss Hirota, it would seem as though there are certain spirits of light wishing to make your acquaintance. The Master can provide you with the means to commune with them, should you wish. The strength of your present magic is enough that they sense you, and it would appear some wish to discuss the possibility of bonding with you. A profitable arrangement, should you be interested. Merely survive alongside Mister Rutledge, and the meeting can be set up.

You will be facing six different challenges in our newly designed Arena floor. It may appear identical, but the Master has placed a veil within, which takes you to a pocket dimension. Visible to the contestants but... the laws of nature will function differently there. I'm sure 'why us?' is a question on your mind, so allow me to address it immediately: the Master is aware of actions taken against Azog the Prince of Fire. If some among you were present, as he suspects, then he wishes to gauge your strengths and limits while also testing this new Arena floor. Any other questions?

@Roland Rutledge, @Amane Hirota and @Harveste have been invited to visit the arena, to test its new structuring. Due to the nature of this event, a tracker must be posted in the linked thread before you make an official in-game post.

    Health

All characters begin at base 50 hp and 100 eng. From there, bonuses are applied to hp based on mastery and inventory. You do not count "trash" tier in calculations:
    • +2hp per piece of armor per quality tier for light armor.
    • +3hp per piece of armor per quality tier for medium armor.
    • +5hp per piece of armor per quality tier for heavy armor.
    • +2hp per mastery tier of wellness (excluding beginner).
Because of this, armor will not provide damage reduction. It is instead utilized as both extra health, and as an increase to your Armor Class.

    armor class

All characters begin with an armor class at base 30. A few skills increase this number, making you harder to hit. You do not count "trash" tier in calculations.
    • All armor, regardless of light/medium/heavy, increases your armor class by +1 per piece per tier.
    • Guard/Shield provides a bonus of +1 per mastery tier (excluding beginner). They cannot both be used, as Guard is specifically when wielding weapons.
    • Rogue provides a bonus of +1 per mastery tier (excluding beginner).
    • Mobility provides a bonus of +2 per mastery tier (excluding beginner).

  2. Several Days Ago...

With a shiver, Roland pushed himself out of the shrine he had been resurrected. His battle with @Vermillion (XIII) had gone worse than he had hoped, ending with what felt like his head exploding. After dying, Roland had been forced through a longer than normal respawn time, in which he was trapped within the game for an unclear amount of time. What had happened during that period was a blur to Roland, he could remember bits and pieces of meeting a beautiful woman, and holding a long conversation, but her face and the words she spoke eluded him. Not knowing @Alphabet Chocolate's fate Roland was tempted to message her, but at the end of the day she was a high-level player in her right, and could likely take care of herself. Afterall, it wasn't like he could easily travel back to the odd mansion without Narth guiding him. Roland could feel a slow burn of anger in his gut before he was stopped by a courier delivering him a rather cryptic letter. It had advised him that he had been personally challenged by someone at Stony Tor Arena. With a laugh, he almost threw the letter away, after all, player challenges were commonplace and usually were just a chance at bragging rights. To be honest, Roland didn't have the idle time only to crush lower level players thinking they could outwit him; he needed to do something about Vermillion. However, as he moved to toss the paper away, he noticed the location. Norforva. That was an odd choice. Most players, even high-level ones, steered clear of the desolate wasteland, and as far as Roland knew most there were no surviving structures beyond the occasional derelict ruin. So to learn this said Stony Tor arena was in such a location intrigued him. With a reluctant sigh, Roland opened up his communication window and jumped into the 'Looking for Group' channel rapidly typing in a very brief plea of help.

I may have found something of interest in Norfova, looking for two others to join me on an expedition of sorts.

He was frustratingly vague on purpose, he hadn't decided whether or not he'd accept the challenge but visiting the location would be worth it on its own. "Maybe I should have mentioned this is an arena..." Roland thought idly before his thoughts trailed back to Vermillion and his plan to exact his revenge....

    Present Day

After getting in contact with his two traveling companions, the group headed out towards the Stony Tor Arena. Approaching to the structure Roland was slightly confused, how could there be such a large building out here, that no one had found yet. It seemed suspicious but even more so when the Speaker showed herself, explaining the situation a bit further. Her elite status aside, something felt distinctively off about this entire situation. The mention of pocket dimensions and magical lights weren't what he had expected from an arena out in the middle of nowhere. As well it seemed his original conclusion was off in the sense that she made it appear that he was to fight waves of creatures as opposed to player characters. Eyeing the girl up and down he responded loudly so that she may hear him, "I get the feeling that the questions I'd want to ask like, 'who are you,' and 'what are your goals here' aren't going to be answered so instead I'll ask, what kind of opponents are we meant to fight here?" Roland frowned as he realized at some point he had decided he would go through with these shenanigans, it was likely a stupid mistake. Turning his gaze, he'd peer towards @Harveste and @Amane Hirota, "Well are you two up for this?"

  3. It looked akin to a family outing- if a family in Falderen could have three different species that looked nothing alike. This was what Harveste's first thoughts were when she met the 'giant man' and the 'equally giant feline' she'd partnered up with for a task she knew far too well she wouldn't fulfill properly. Optimism was a virtue, though- and if she didn't try her best in this world, how could she do it offline?

@Roland Rutledge had already noted most of the questions the curious faerin had. The lady, who was far too mysterious, felt almost like a phantom to her. "I have my doubts we're allowed to know that in advance. Considering we're 'testing' this arena, though...I have my doubts they'll go easy on us." Still, there was nothing wrong with a little struggle, so long as they did their best. But as she looked at Roland and @Amane Hirota, she began to feel smaller than she was.

"I know I'm not that strong, but...I'll do my best to support you! I'm sure I can do it!" She wasn't really sure, however, and it was clear on her childishly honest face. Her certainty was simply that she would do her best. But even she wondered, would her best really be enough? "Even if I'm weak, I'm not going to give in. I'm with you the entire way, Mister Rutledge!" She looked the part, so it was at least a good idea to be as polite as a child, wasn't it?

As she chirped, soft grin graced her face, her head turned upward to stare at the man who was over a foot higher than herself. He'd let her come along so far after replying to the bulletin board. Hopefully, he wasn't going to give up on her now, and neither would the third of their party. "What do you think, Miss Hirota?"

After the world boss Amane hadn't had the chance to pick up much quests — or do anything productive, really. The last thing she did was participate in a mystery egg contest, but even that had little to do with progressing in the game. And so when Roland's message had appeared in the lfg chat, it was a no brainer to shoot him a reply requesting to accompany him. An adventure sounded pretty fun. Besides, Norforva was still largely unknown, and the opportunity to explore it with the support of a strong player — and she knew Roland was pretty strong — was one she didn't want to pass up.

Arriving at the towering structure with the party, consisting of Roland and another player she wasn't familiar with, the warning above the Speaker's head quickly put the felis on edge. Sure, powerful NPCs weren't unknown to her, but this was the first time one out-levelled her so drastically. Even in Dormont the NPCs were still capable of being defeated, and that was a noble's castle, with their entire military. Just what was this place?

With narrowed eyes Amane lagged behind by a step or two, letting her party members take the lead. Instinct, perhaps, from being a support throughout these last few months, or maybe a subconscious desire to keep a distance from a being as dangerous as the Speaker. Either way, the whole situation felt suspicious, to say the least, even if she couldn't quite put her finger on why. When Roland was done, she posed a question of her own. "Will they all be three on three matches? Or at the very least, are the match ups fair?" An arena could vary, after all, from the more honourable jousting displays of knighthood that were popular in Medieval England, to the gladiatorial blood sport of Ancient Rome. But even as the words left her mouth, Amane had a sinking feeling that she already knew the answer to her question.

"...sure, let's do this," she said at last to her two companions, a sharp nod punctuating her statement. Despite her unease, she wasn't about to ditch the party when they'd already made their way here; she wouldn't do that to Roland. Besides, she was curious about those light spirits that the Speaker had mentioned. Hearing the purple-haired girl's words — Harveste, according to the party's UI — she gave a small grin in reply. "Then I look forward to working with you."

  5. It was with patience and a respectful, accepting gaze that Speaker listened to the various comments, questions and possible criticisms of each person's nuanced reactions. She gestured towards a hallway nearby and began to walk down it, gesturing for the others to follow her, as she began to answer their concerns.

    Speaker

As I've said said before Mister Rutledge, I am Speaker. The voice and will of the Arena Master. If your question was meant to be a broader "Who is the Arena Master" then I'm afraid that's not a question I will answer. However, their goal here as you've so brusquely put it is to manage this place respectably but privately, hence their reclusion. It is their agenda to provide quality entertainment beyond the confines of various laws and governments such as Falderen... or the untrustworthy 'word' of underworld arenas such as the tournament that blew up on Druuk Island. Here, there is one rule: do not stand in the way of the Arena's business. And our being dishonorable would be bad for business, so I shall be ever honest and courteous to all of our contenders.

She turned down another hall, walking down some steps that took her to a gate that already stood open and revealed the Arena floor, made of packed dirt and enormous and oval in shape. The air beyond shimmered ever so slightly; a detail that had not been observed when looking down into the fighting area. It was obviously the veil spoken of. She casually walked through it and onto the Arena floor, to demonstrate it was perfectly safe. Within, the air felt slightly heavier and more static as the body adjusted... and then returned to a normal sensation. There was none of the unpleasantness that came from leaping through gates.

As for who or what you will all be fighting... it hardly seemed appropriate to throw together an arbitrary set of challenges beforehand. So we've gotten together a sort of... roster for you to select from.

Gesturing to one of the gates along the walls of the Arena floor fighting zone, it opened and several guards pushed out a large contraption with several colored bands on a wheel capable of being spun. On each band was a sketching of a potential fight, from a single person or monster to groups of either. The most obviously horrifying and dangerous seemed to be L, D and H, while the safest and simplest were C, G and K if one were to trust that colors equated to potential danger.
The wheel was set against a wall and spun once by the guards before they left, just to demonstrate that it worked. Speaker, watching it spin 'round and 'round and 'round, aimed a hand at it and fired a small bolt of white energy, hitting the J.

This is how you'll be choosing your fights: at random. You have six fights to get through, and twelve options. In order to keep things interesting and narrow things down faster, every time you participate in a fight, the option opposite it on the wheel is also removed as a potential. In this situation, were you actually fighting team J... team D would be removed from the wheel and no longer possible to fight. Which would be lucky for you, I think. The dark bands are the most difficult, according to our ranking system. The yellow bands are the simplest fights. If you are lucky, you'll land on ALL of the orange ones, to remove the potential for the hardest fights from play. But... that's up to fate now isn't it? Discuss among yourselves who will make the first spin, and may your fight prove interesting.

Turning, she walked out the gate through which you all had entered, which sealed behind her and left you in the middle of the massive Arena floor with nothing but a wheel to spin and a choice to make.

@Roland Rutledge, @Amane Hirota and @Harveste must roll a single d12 to determine what they will be fighting first.

  6. Roland rolled his eyes at the response from the speaker, as her vague responses regarding the intentions of these games were pretty much as he expected. He would just have to assume the purpose was simply violence for violence sake as there didn't seem to be any merchandise or audience for the said tournament they were about to enter. Roland took the moment they spent walking to the first gate to take full account of his companions. The first was the Faerin Harveste, she had a childlike look, and claimed to be a weak support. However, knowing Faerin age remarkably well, Roland suspected she might be older than she pretended to be and hoped it would show in combat. Next was Amane, whom Roland had traveled with a handful of times, which said most of the times she preferred the supporting role as well. Roland wasn't sure how this was going to fair, but it would depend on what they were facing.

As the passed through the strange magical gate, Roland snorted uneasily, the last time he had been teleported somewhere it had not ended well. Wasting little time, he quickly produced two potions. One, a potion of invisibility, he handed to Harveste, the other a potion of stamina he handed to Amane. He didn't describe either of the items, knowing the players would be able to read the tooltips, instead, he quietly whispered, "Use them at your discretion..." Eventually, the guards brought out the large board, separated into 12 sections, each with a picture representing a creature, person, or group of either. Grimacing Roland examined the pictures; it seemed they were up against sentient beings again. This would likely make things a bit more difficult. With a nod Roland asked the speaker another question, "Once we spin the wheel, will we have time to prepare in between matches?" It was likely something he should have asked earlier, but he hoped it was true. Turning he gazed at the two magic users, "If we have the time before the fights, it will likely be wise for you to create any magical traps you can, if not some magic to buff our stats would be best. I'd rather run out of energy than health here; we can always tap out by the sounds of it."

With that said, Roland would listen to any replies before nodding and moving to the wheel. He'd have to rely on them in between matches rather heavily; he just hoped he could shoulder most of the burden during them himself. Roland produced a flask pushing it to his lips and took a long draw of a dark red wine, before grabbing the wheel with a jerk and sending it spinning.

    Thrown die:

  7. She was a bit surprised when the potion of invisibility was given to her, struggling to use the tool tips function despite already having been at the game for a month. Impressed with what she was given, she smiled and stored it until it was time to use it later. "You're quite the strategist, aren't you, Roland?"

When he was waiting for input from herself and the third in their trio, Harveste let out a nervous laugh, scratching the back of your neck. "Yeah, you should probably spin it. I'm horrible at games of chance." She couldn't even bother counting how many games of yahtzee, bingo and other such games she'd lost in her life. She could probably easily count how many she'd won, though.

Her eyes began to follow the numbers as the wheel was spun. It was certainly an interesting way to choose an opponent, in her opinion. Far more interesting than just choosing lots! As it landed on a number, she tried to pay closer attention to the sketch upon it. How could she describe the creature that was drawn?

"Looks like we'll be fighting a monster and not people, at least for now." While she didn't know what it was, she did know there were more of them than it, or so it seemed by the image. "I swear it looks like pictures a friend showed me of the 'Jersey Devil' ages ago... Maybe that means we'll get some favoritism out of it too." Realizing her joke was pointless without context, she still merely laughed at it. Ah, puns and pointless banter were always fun!

  8. profile

"Thanks," she whispered back, sliding the potion into the sleeve of her kimono. Not the most convenient place, perhaps, but nevertheless still faster than retrieving items from the inventory. Idly tapping two fingers against her forehead as they followed the Speaker, Amane read the small UI that appeared. A potion of stamina, huh? It was particularly thoughtful — if there was anything that she feared most in combat, it was running out of energy. Even her preferred fighting style of dual-wielding battle trinkets was testament to that fact. There was nothing worse than being rendered useless in a party, unable to do anything for fear of risking a mind-down. The mage would honestly rather be in critical health.

She watched with trepidation as the wheel was brought up, listening carefully as the Speaker explained the rules of the battles. It seemed pretty straightforward, though she wondered what the heavy feeling she had felt when they had first entered was all about. Unfortunately, before she could speculate much about it, it had faded soon after, leaving her with nothing but half-formed guesses. Ah well, it was probably nothing more than a side-effect of the portal, Amane thought, brushing it off to the back of her mind. "It makes the most sense for you to spin it," the felis agreed after Harveste had said her piece, turning towards Roland. Giving him a slight grin, she continued. "After all, you'll be taking the most damage out of all of us. So its only fair that you pick your own poison, so to speak~" With that said, as Roland stepped forwards and jerked the wheel, her breath caught in her throat, body tensing as the wheel spun and spun and...fell promptly on one of the three darkest bands in the whole circle.

Trust Roland to roll one of the strongest enemies right off the bat, Amane thought, staring at the board with part amusement, and part abject horror. If the Speaker outclassed them so utterly, who knew what was considered 'dangerous' in a place like this? At least she seems to be honourable, the felis consoled herself, though she hadn't quite relinquished all of her previous suspicious. If so, the worse they would probably suffer should they lose was a blow to their pride. And Roland's prize and contact with those light spirits, of course, but that was a small price to pay for retaining their lives. Provided the lady was telling the truth, but her no-nonsense way of speaking didn't give Amane the impressions that she was the type to fib. Still, if the worst occurred, the felis made a mental note never to let Roland live this down.

Observing the sketch that covered the section of the wheel Roland had spun it to, it looked like the fight would be against a single creature. Likely advantageous for them, since they only had one tank, and neither Harveste nor herself could take much damage, if the light armour the other support had don was anything to go by. But just how deadly did one monster have to be in order to warrant the highest difficulty rating? The sketches on the other two maroon sections were all parties of three — to have one creature that ranked the same as a three-man effort didn't bode well to her.

At first glance it looked like it possessed a dragon's head, but its mandibles gave it a rather insectoid look, and when combined with its multiple incisors growing at odd angles in its mouth it resembled a sort of eldritch horror. Certainly like nothing that Amane had seen in the game so far. Behind it's head was a mass that could have been a thick arm or tail...but judging by how it was positioned, the more she looked at it, the more sure she became that it was in fact a wing. And if it could fly..."I'll buff then," she decided, quickly chanting a spell under her breath. If successful, a light would swell beneath her feet before dispersing, tiny holographic wings attached to Roland's, Harveste's, and her own feet appearing, the appendages fluttering occasionally. It wouldn't let them fly, of course, but it would provide a boost in mobility if the spell worked as it should. And though they would never be able to match a creature that could take to the air, being faster should hopefully make them less of a sitting duck.

OOC: Amane used a mobility buff on the three of them! @Snide, @Roland Rutledge, @Harveste

  9. It seemed as though in the anticipation of the fight Roland did not notice Speaker had already left, so it was no surprise that his remaining questions remained unanswered. She watched, along with a dozen other interested parties, who took seats in the emptied Arena stands and inspected Roland, Amane and Harveste carefully, as though anxious to see how things would play out. When Roland spun the wheel they stared, a few shaking their heads as it landed upon H: the nameless single beast.

Amane's buff was cast, forming small wings upon the heels of herself and her allies, granting them a mobility bonus to avoid potential harm.
[+4 to AC for each party member for their next turn only. Group Buff Adept Illumancy.]
Each would find themselves more fleet of foot and hopefully able to avoid the dangers their challenge presented. As they prepared themselves, one of the far gates began to lift up. At the same time, the boundary of the demi-plane took on a slight yellow tinge, the air above humming. A bird which had been lingering in the area began to fly up away from the Arena floor and struck the edge of the bubble that was the demi-plane zapping immediately and falling dead to the ground: there was now a ceiling to this fight, which spectators could look through and fighters could not escape.

The gate finished rising and milky white eyes glowed within the darkness of the hall beyond, blinking as they adjusted to the light. Then, suddenly, a huge form ran forward on all forms, its many jowls slobbering and snapping as it entered the Arena and leapt into the air, taking flight. It neared the barrier and turned sharply away, realizing it was too dangerous to simply flee... It was intelligent. As it looked down upon the party, its information became available for them to quickly review.

A vicious beast hailing form the North, the goreglider swoops down upon its prey from above, often dropping them from great heights or slamming them to the ground and ripping them open. What makes this beast so particularly horrifying is that it heals a fraction of the damage it does with its blood magic, rejuvenating itself through the wounds of its enemies. It is better at crushing than casting, however.

This monster cannot be attacked by melee fighters when in flight, which is where it does its casting.

Snarling, it glared at the three figures below and tucked its wings in, landing with brutal force on Roland and knocking him to the ground. It reared its head towards Amane, as though smelling the taint of holy magic on her.

Roland turned looking for the speaker. His focus had solely been on the wheel as she had stepped away, and he hadn't noticed they were suddenly alone. With a sigh Roland said, "I really wish there was a perception skill in this game..." as he turned around to investigate the area he noticed a bird falling from the yellow-tinged ceiling that had entrapped them. With a grimace, he called out, "Prepare yourselves!" as he unsheathed both his blades in anticipation of an attack. Instead of an immediate attack, however, the beast seemingly watched from its cage briefly before flying into the air giving Roland a moment to read the small tool-tip describing the creature.

The pause didn't last long, however, as soon the beast came plummeting towards the earth aiming itself at Roland. Wasting no time, Roland braced himself, piercing the creature with his blades at it crashed into him sending both of them tumbling to the floor. After a brief flurry of commotion, Roland pushed himself back onto his feet backing away from the creature, while barking out a few commands, "Amane, use your magic to attack it from above and force it to stay on the ground! Harveste!" Roland paused quickly realizing he had never learned what the girl was capable of, "I don't know what your abilities are, but if you can keep this thing on the ground somehow that'd be great!" With a grimace, Roland circled around the beast as he noticed it looking towards Amane. He tried to position himself between the beast and the caster while screaming at the monster in an attempt to provoke it, "Hey ugly! Why don't you try that one again!"

Amane winced when the bird hit the ground, and judging from how it gave nary a budge, it was very much dead. Still, gruesome as the sight was it gave her an idea. If the barrier that was enclosing them in was as powerful and deadly as it looked, then perhaps...her thoughts were broken, however, when a humongous form tore out of the newly opened gates, leaping into the air and rising with powerful wingbeats, the monster that had been depicted on the wheel, now in flesh and blood, observing them from on high. So she was right, it could fly after all. That would pose a problem — their strongest hitter was by far Roland, and his melee attacks wouldn't be able to connect if the beast was in the air. Frowning slightly, Amane tried to rack her brains for a solution, but nothing came to mind. Well, she supposed, as long as the beast was in the air, she'll have to be the one attacking instead, along with Harveste, if the support was capable of doing so.

She created a bolt of arcane magic in her hands, the purple light pulsing with an intense, concentrated energy. When the sphere was fully formed, she shouted the last words of the incantation, the light bursting out in an incandescent beam aiming straight for—— But before it could connect, to her dismay the monster dived downwards, crashing on top of Roland and knocking him onto the ground, the spell flying harmlessly above its head. A complete miss.

"...Roger~" she said after Roland imparted some advice, giving a nod from behind the party, even though the dual-wielder wouldn't have been able to catch it. Attacks from on high it was then, from now onwards. Amane wondered though, looking at the wings that framed either side of the creature's body, if it was possible to target them exclusively and force the beast to face them on the ground. But she supposed that was a question for later, as the dragon-like creature raised its head, swinging its gaze around to face her, making its next target pretty known. Even as Roland moved into position to shield her, the mage balled her fingers underneath the sleeve of her kimono, bracing herself for the possible hit.

Taking out her magic book of spells, Harveste was quick to take up the role requested of her. She sang her favorite spell, a song she'd written to grow vines quicker than normal casting, and tried to pierce one quite sharp plant through the Goreglider. Unfortunately, it missed, and her disaster fell fast to the floor.

"Crap..." Grumbling idly, she tried to sing a bit longer- if she was lucky, she could at least set up a trap at it's feet, hoping to make it trip like she often did herself. It was either the Goreglider was too fast, or she was just far too anxious.

Glancing to Amane, who had missed just like she had, she could only hope it was the earlier- yet at the same time, that wouldn't help matters at all, now would it? "It looks like it might strike again soon! Please tell me you have another plan, Roland? Also...Both of you, watch your steps!"

Glancing between her teammates, she felt her small stature shrink slightly in her chest. "How is that thing so swift on the ground let alone in the air? There's gotta be a way to slow it down more than this..."

The beast roared as Roland sank his blades into it, back-peddling on all fours as it shifted its gaze side to side, examining the various combatants in the ring with it. Behind it, Speaker and the other dozen observers watched, some of them taking notes on parchment they had brought, though most kept rapt attention on the fighting.

The goreglider turned suddenly towards Amane and rushed at her, aiming to trample her under its massive form, though it missed as her enchanted heels helped her to move out of the way before the enchantment sputtered and died, the buff fading from the entire group. Thrashing its tail about, the raging monster utterly failed to crush anybody with its body, and so with a snarl it crouched... preparing to leap into the air.

    Target: Goreglider [AC 47]
    Buff/Debuff: 57 and Bind~
Duration: Summoned vine creature will remain pinned so long as rolls exceed the enemy's AC, or vines are defeated. [Vine HP: 30]

Watching the creature rush into Amane to attack, she was too late to react and stop it. Growling at her own lack of ability, she began to sing again- this time, putting an emphasis on lower notes, her heart reaching further into the ground with each word she let out of her lips.

The vines grew once more, but this time, they'd done exactly what she wanted and entangled themselves around the great beast's legs. As she opened one eye, having winced as she struggled to keep her thoughts at bay, she stared in a sudden moment of awe. She'd really slowed it down!

"Guys, I'll keep it down, so you both focus on beating it for being a bastard!" Staring into its eyes, she kept her song going, trying to tighten the vines and keep him still. Sure, she knew her breath was a bit ragged, but it wasn't nearly as bad as when she'd been scared at the volcanic summit.

No, this was a different rush. She was actually managing to do something, and if she was lucky, it'd make her two teammates have a much easier time fighting the beast that harmed them in the first place.

Roland grinned as Harveste's plan bore fruit, trapping the wyvern like creature under a tangle of vines. Seeing as the mage's previous attacks had flown off course Roland was hoping it being trapped on the ground would make it a bit more manageable to hit. Wasting no time Roland ran forward towards the creature. He noticed its fragile wings, briefly considering them as a target before opting for the monster's throat. It was possible he could prevent its flying abilities, but with it currently helpless it was better to try and force it to soak up as much damage as possible. With a flurry of slashes Roland aimed his furious blows at the monster's neck looking to decapitate it.
