Ursula growled at the weird sensation in her right. It was enough frustration to have failed on her first attempt at getting something worthy of the pain she felt, but to top it off she had to deal with bandits, monsters and a nasty kind of curse that seemed to mess around with her body. The blacksmith rested her pickaxe on her shoulders while taking a quick break to regain her breath. On the ground around her, many corpses littered the crystallized dirt of the crystal “forest”.
“For the love of Endra… I feel like crystallized poop. If it ain’t enough that minin’ these crystals is hard, I have to deal with a nasty curse thing as well. I tell ya this has somethin’ to do with magic, I’m sure of it! Everythin' works with magic!”
Huffing in annoyance, Ursula raised her pickaxe once more. Waiting for too long would force her body to succumb to the curse much like some of the corpses around her ended up. A shriek came from behind a large crystal; a bandit from the same group she dispatched a few minutes ago was surprised to see his buddies on the ground, crystallized. Ursula’s generally calm and laid-back expression quickly turned into a cold gaze.
“Why hello there, little cheater…” She extended her right arm in the general direction of the now fleeing bandit. Her mechanical gauntlet was launched like a rocket, grabbing him by the ankle while reeling the bandit in at great speeds. Once her arm managed to retrieve one of her goddess’ nemesis, Ursula kicked the man’s throat, pinning him down on the crystallized ground. A quick glance found no prism shard.
“Bummer. Seems like ya ain't lucky either eh, pal?" Although she felt nothing but contempt toward his bandit kind, her eyes catched just how much the curse was eating away at his body. To his luck (or despair) Ursula wasn’t a sadist.
“Worry not buddy, I’ll make it quick.” Her pickaxe raised high in the air, the tinker gears ran at full speed as they mixed the eridium, cobalt and orichalcum powder. It released a powerful kinetic blast on contact with the body, killing the man instantly.
“May Endra guide your soul to the path of honesty.” Before long, the crystals engulfed the mangled body.
Ursula rested her weapon on her shoulders once again, checking her surroundings. “Well then, next…”
