A squidgily-widgily sort of mushy-mushy-bleugh-blah feeling worked its way through Temperance's system as the teleportation crystal carried her to what some people referred to as a "check point" in the depths of the Stokbon sewers. She appeared to be the first to arrive, after more or less muscling her way onto a team that planned to go exploring the underside of the the great city in search of treasure and adventure. Normally she wouldn't be caught dead near such a gross place, but the big excitement inside of the volcano had given her a taste for the sort of scary fun that dungeon diving could be!

Besides, if people were willingly going to throw themselves into dangerous situations like this one, then it was her HOLY DUTY to help them out and keep them alive with her gratuitous reservoirs of holy magic. Buffing, healing, throwing around a few bolts of holy magic... healing... buffing... She could do it all! And if THAT didn't work, she also had a smattering of hydromancy to bring to the table! Perhaps that was why she had been allowed to join the group that had been getting ready to come down here and finish some big adventure they'd been too injured to complete. Perhaps it was because she VOWED never to stop pestering them until they said yes, and let her come along! Who could say? Who cared? What mattered was that she was here now, looking at the large creepy doors that lead to the next area.

She was not aware, as a non-player-character, of any prompts telling her to wait for her team... but she wasn't trying to enter the strange place others had referred to as a "boss room" without the rest of her team present. So, summoning an orb of light that filled the area with a soothing sandalwood smell through her holy magic, she used its light to glance around. Lots of dead bugs... areas of dried blood, and a smudge on the ground that looked like a person had collapsed in the filth only to stand up again and fight their way towards the crystal she stood near.

    @Roland Rutledge @Gwyn ap Herne @Alphabet Chocolate

  2. And here he was again, the sewers. A wave of nausea passed through him as soon as the smell hit his nose. "Ugh, it truly is awful down here..." Roland complained as he moved forward to Temperance pinching his nose in exaggeration. "I wish I were going to say it wasn't as bad as I remembered but I swear it's worse." Of course, the last time he had been down had turned into a giant mess with party members leaving in the middle of battle; he had much more concerning him at the time than the smell.

Sighing he moved about the room in impatience. From the last few creeps, he had fought here, whatever lies beyond that door was going to give them a rough time. With all the flashing lights and sirens it was clear that they were going to enter into something even stronger. The question was what? This area seemed to have some disease-ridden theme, with every creature giving out status effects, surely they could suspect that but what else? Taking out his oil he began to coat his blades with a unique concoction that he had learned, it would give his strikes an extra bit of damage. He might as well be prepared for whatever they were going to face. "So..." he said, "Who all is coming exactly?" He asked Temperance, while he waited, impatiently tapping his foot.

  3. "Rudolf!" Alpha squealed, running up to the purple-haired man to give him a hug. Whether or not she succeeded was of no consequence as she immediately bounced back and began to hop back and forth like an overeager rabbit. "It's been forever!" she exclaimed but, towards the end of her enthusiastic cheer, it simmered down. A blonde lady stood next to her friend and, judging from their relative proximity from each other, was definitely in some sort of scandalous relationship. Alpha's eyes widened and she piped down, leaning into Roland's ear (firmly forgetting Temperance's presence at the moment) to whisper in conspiratorially. "Is that your wife?" she spoke, her words being shushed-down rapid-fire bullets that pierced through the echo of dripping water and the stark silence shared by the field of cockroach corpses scattered across the sewer floor. "If not, I think she's out of your league."

After giving her advice to Roland with a wink, she drew back and straightened up, harrumphing as if nothing important had happened as she looked Temperance over with a glinting, sharp eye. Within seconds of finding whatever it was that she had been looking for, her face softened and, with her arm outstretched, gave a charming grin. "Nice to meet'cha lady! Name's Alphabet Chocolate but you can call me Alpha! Oh! And this is my good old friend, Rudolf. You know about him, right? He fought against Azog and Arachna and kinda won the entire battle over!" she gave a sly clack of her tongue and batted her eyelashes, jabbing her thumb over to Roland's general direction. "I bet you that he'd defeat this boss thing we're fighting in five seconds flat! He's a real catch, you know?" she crowed and, with a triumphant cheer, continued to sing praise of Roland's name (internally gagging as she did so). Hopefully her purple-haired friend would find a significant other to settle down with and she wouldn't have to put up with his eccentricities (Not to say that she wasn't completely supportive of Roland's cross-dressing hobbies! The event merely destroyed any vision she had of Roland being a knight-in-shining armor with images of petite, well-spoken Rosaline). The irony of that thought was completely lost on her (as was many other ironic statements in the past).

"Anyways!" she finally declared, twirling around. "When's the last guy gonna come? I'm just itching for a fight! Just don't make me gag you lovebirds!"

Suddenly, a predatory, vicious smirk found itself tugging on Alpha's lips. It seemed out of place on the girl's facial features and, for a moment, her eyes shined a bright red. It was a flash that could've been a trick of light (especially with the copious amounts of red staining the floor and walls of the sewer). "Just itching for a fight," she repeated. Just as sudden as her odd countenance had appeared, it dissipated into a toothy grin as she stared at the crystal expectantly.

    @Temperance @Gwyn ap Herne @Roland Rutledge

  4. The Admiral had informed her of a boss fight she had uncovered and the first thing she noticed as she answer the call at the chosen time was that there was a distinct lack of her and those awful, wonderful hammers of hers. The warping of the crystal left her feeling a little off kilter, but she was quick to shake off the oddity of teleportation magics while skimming over her companions. @Roland Rutledge and @Alphabet Chocolate were becoming increasingly familiar faces between the various bosses and battles. The two were very good at crossing paths it seemed. Their third, however, she didn't know the name of. Just the face... and the magic. She was the woman who had offered her the holy buff in the fight against Azog. A kiss for three arrows each.

Gwyn nodded in greeting to the three, lifting a hand to nervously scratch at the scar crossing the bridge of her nose. "Sorry I'm late, I was- uh, waiting on someone. I guess this is four though so let's head out." She waved her hand toward the descending staircase to motion everyone on and took up a position toward the back. The woman did glance for a moment at @Temperance to speak with her a moment. "Thank you again for your help with Azog. I don't think I ever got your name? Name's Gwyn." They weren't here for pleasantries, however, and the walk down into the depths of the waiting boss fight would bring a rather sure end to that. Still, it wouldn't do to be rude to a kind lady who had aided her unasked previously.

She had a sinking feeling she'd be needing more of her help soon enough.

You slide down the path of slime on your feet, back, or rear end into a enormous new cave. This one has all that remains of what was the sewer system far above it. With many of what look like sewage drains all along the ring above. From those drains is flowing several waterfalls of sludge down into the cavern you stand in now. Luckily the cavern floor has many elevated portions that form a 'reef' of sorts in the toxic dump. Piles of ancient trash are piled high all around, having traveled all the way down here from the world above. It would seem that there was little left to explore here.... however.

The slimey water began to bubble and writhe as several long black goo pillars shot straight out of the sludge. They converge in the air above to form a cage like sight all around your party. The goop then oozed down into the center of the cage. All of the slime began to gather into this spot. Rising higher and higher until a massive black mass filled the center of the pit you are in. The sentient mass of sludge shook it's gigantic body as it formed a mouth and deep pits for eyes. It opened and closed it's maw at the party with anticipation.

Roland blushed at @Alphabet Chocolate's comments but he was happier to see her safe, after all this had been the first time he had seen her since the entire Vermillion ordeal. He really needed to ask her how that ended up turning out, "Hey..." he started before seeing the red rose sitting on the bridge of her ear. It's red color sent his stomach swimming shutting him up as he moved towards the door. Barely registering @Gwyn ap Herne arrival he pushed forward mechanically on the door before his feet gave out beneath him.

Tumbling forward in the darkness Roland quickly lost any sense of direction before he plummeted into a dark and smelly room. As he pulled himself off the ground he saw the mass of black liquid gather before him, "Well.." Roland complained, "I'm off to a great start..." looking at his blades he realized that any oil applied had washed off. Taking a moment he hurriedly reapplied the rest of his concoction to his swords before turning to the creature. "Let's go blob."

Roland's teammates didn't fare as well as him sliding down the tunnel, which was saying a lot since he had been dumped on his rump. Looking around in the darkness Roland couldn't quite spot any of them, but the large giant slime in front of him seemed to menacing to peel his eyes away for more than a minute. "I have to buy them some time..." Roland growled as he waded forward through the trash and sewage, purposefully making sure to breath through his mouth as much as he could as he tried to resist vomiting.

    "Heeeeeeyy!"
Roland yelled at the top of his lungs, waving his sword around, "Ugly! I bet a dumb slime like you doesn't even know what Im saying do you?" Roland growled as he realized simply talking to the monster was likely not to get him anywhere. The best method of distraction would be to simply attack, and that's what he did slicing into the beast with both his blades which left a heavy dose of steam from his attack thanks to the alchemy enhanced oil.

Temperance gave a shrug in response to Roland's question about the rest of the team. She had no clue who all was coming, which made it even more EXCITING! The others quickly revealed themselves however, in the form of a small girl and a tall archer. Oh, oh, it was Miss Never Miss, from the giant volcano thingamajiggerdoodadbob! She smiled at the taller woman and then turned to Alphabet, who seemed to be talking excitedly about Roland. It was so cute when a little girl had a crush on her idol!!! It was creepy if the guy liked her back. So, hopefully that wasn't the case here, or she'd have to unleash some divine intervention and fuck a fool up.

"Oh Rudolf and I met during the big volcano thingy, when he kept yelling at the large lava guy to hit him! I think it's really brave of somebody with obvious suicidal tendencies to at least end his life in the service of others, rather than walking off a bridge or something selfish like that! So, yeah, I don't doubt that this will all be over for Rudolf in five seconds flat and I'll be SUPER sure not to heal him, so that I don't stand in the way of his death wish!"

She turned to give the man a thumbs up, saw that he was gone, and must not have heard as he'd already run off.

"A SERIOUS death wish, woooh he left without us! Alright let's do this girls! Oh and my name is Sister Temperance, priestess of the Lord of Light! I bet you're confused about the bunny ears, everyone gets confused by the bunny ears. He's also the god of Life and Fertility, and rabbits rut like ALL THE TIME and have lots of little bunny babies but you'll learn all about that when you're older!"
Sobering, she knelt, placing a hand on @Alphabet Chocolate's shoulder for a moment. "Just not with that Rudolf guy, okay? There's NOTHING more cool than being hugged by someone you like, but if someone tries to touch you in a way or a place that makes YOU feel uncomfortable, that's NO GOOD! It's your body, nobody has the right to touch you if you don't want them to. So what do you do? First, you SAY NO! Then, you get out of there! Most important, you gotta tell someone you trust. Like your parents. A policeman. Or your teacher.

    OKAY LET'S DO THIS WOOH!"

Turning to Gwyn, she blew a kiss and three small orbs of light drifted over, attaching themselves to the front of her bow to join with the next three arrows she used. Then she turned to the way down, which had markings from where Roland had made his descent. It looked slippery and gross, so she used her hydromancy to create a layer of ice over it as she went down, which really sped up the process of going down... As Roland was in the middle of fighting the massive slime beast alone, she came skiing in on a path of ice and took up position in the upper corner of the room [zone 1], near where Roland was fighting.

    Damage Buff: 2 Rounds Remain

Gwyn didn't pay much attention to the talk between the three beyond their initial greetings, too busy eyeing the putrid slip-n-slide they would be using to head down to the boss fight. Roland seemed more than ready and headed down before them. For a moment she paused there, trying to decide between heading down or waiting on the others. Before she could speak up the two wrapped up whatever the bunny-eared woman had be all in a tizzy over and blew yet another kiss her way. The archer stiffly cleared her throat with a meager, "Thanks," and threw herself down the slope. Who just... blew kisses to people? And kissed their arrows all the time? Was that a requirement of her incantations or what? She shook herself off the subject resolutely.

Sliding down into the bowels of sewers wasn't exactly high on Gwyn's list of favorite pastimes. Admittedly she had done some odd enough things in her life, but the grossest it got in terms of location was likely the wood rot and rust of abandoned mining facilities, cabins, etc they stumbled across in the woods and mountains every now and then. Especially in Appalachia. Nothing was quite as eerie as finding one of the old mines that had been closed after WWII and left frozen in time. She'd found an unopened bottle of whiskey in one once. That had been a fun camping experience.

Sewers, however, were new. A new she really didn't like off the bat, but a fight was a fight and the ooze of ichor and slick pulled itself together to offer one. It would be horribly rude to turn it down after sliding into its home with reckless abandon. She felt the buff Temperance graced her with simmer over the shaft of the arrow drawn, like it had before against Azog, and smirked. Gwyn readied a shot and let the imbued arrow fly toward the frankly disgusting body of their enemy. She wondered in passing what kind of consistency the thing had, but hopefully her being at a range would mean she needn't find out.

Alpha tilted her head, confused at Temperance's sudden lecture. What did inappropriate touching have to do with a gigantic, toxic, and downright violent pile of sludge given life? She stared for a few moments, still trying to work out what Temperance had said, before she shook her head and looked over the battlefield. It seemed like everyone had already gotten prepared and ready for the battle but her and Alpha wasn't about to let herself fall behind. Brushing away Temperance's words for later musing and consideration, she dashed over to a far corner away from the creature and, after finding a suitable spot, began to charge up a spell in the palm of her hand.

"Try to beat this!" she shouted over the chaos, smugly looking over her shoulder to glance at Rudolf, Gwyn, and Temperance. "Dog Attack!" she proclaimed and, as if on cue, the magic burst from her palm and manifested into a small rat terrier made of green, phantasmal energy. It gave a few barks and yips and it chased its tail for a few seconds before it turned to face the Megalomass Ooze and, with one last determined bark, charged forward and hit the creature dead-on, dissipating into wisps of magic floating in the air.

Silently, Alpha mourned the loss of her creation. Why did she always make them so cute and lovable?

It seemed his party had finally found their footing or rather finally descended into the depths of the boss dungeon. Why had he left the above room so quickly earlier anyway? A quick memory of a red rose sent shivers down his spine, but he failed to connect the dots. He needed to focus on the monster before him, it had begun to jiggle under the sudden assault of Roland's comrades and was sure to retaliate here soon.

Again, Roland sent a flurry of slashes into the side of the beast, each strike cleaving a small smoldering path out of the creature that quickly was refilled by the rest of the monster's mass. Jumping backward Roland scratched his head, looking at the beast. Had it gotten smaller? Sure it didn't seem to have any actual damage,

Yay! Pew and pow, the fight was really kicking off now! From arrows being fired to swords on fire, to dogs made out of magical energy running at the giant slime and exploding into puffs of magical energy! What the fuck and holy shit! Still it looked like it did a good amount of damage, and the archer was benefiting greatly from the spell that Temperance had already given her. The Rudolf guy was busy trying to be eaten so she didn't want to waste any of her energy helping him out... Instead, she focused on the young girl.

Summoning up some of her holy magic, she sent a buffing spell at the girl, wrapping her in holy magic so that her next three physical or magical attacks would be blessed to deal more damage to the giant slime monster.

Of course she had no way of knowing about the Vermilion incidents, or what might happen if holy magic started to envelope Alphabet. @Pandora

    Damage Buff: 1 Round Remains

The damage they managed to let loose upon the boss made for a fairly large dent in the creature's health, though it gave back as best it could. It also summoned up minions from its own cleaved away mass, which was bizarre to consider. Were they apart of a hivemind? Were they their own creatures? Could they fuse back together? Hunter or no, she probably didn't want to know the specifics of ooze-based biology. That sounded like a right foul rabbit hole to go tearing down. Despite her momentary distraction as the new black oozes rose across the way from her, the boss carried on with its defense of itself and its territory in the abandoned cistern.

She could see the opening to escape the coming attack, but in readying itself for it? There was so great an opening for her to strike rather than to flee. Gwyn took a steadying breath and readied the next holy arrow. The gleam of the arrowhead shone far brighter than its metal had any right to, a single spot of sunlight fighting back the foul dark of the sewer.

It flew as she released her grasp on the bowstring with a radiant line, a perfect arch. It hit beautifully into the side of the creature and the mass of it rippled as the burning divine light was guided to her mark. The pain of the slime's tentacles catching her was fair recompense. The obnoxious fumes following weren't nearly as welcome. The archer screwed up her nose and coughed, pulling up the collar of her coat to breathe through as she stepped away from the drifting plumes of miasma. Fucking gross.

She took it back, she'd rather deal with the Mini Me oozes.

+17 fire oil buff final round
Roland continued to swing his swords in a rapid succession, each blow slicing out large chunks of the Megalomass Ooze slime monster. Sweat began to run down his forehead from the exertion, taking a slight step back Roland heard noises around him. For the first time since the battle had begun, he saw smaller pieces of the slime moving on the floor. "So it was getting smaller after all..." Roland thought while turning slightly intending to deal with the smaller version of the monster. Precisely at that time when the ooze suddenly shot out several appendages from itself. In a manner of shock Roland jumped backward and yelled, "Careful guys, I don't like the looks of those. Let's hope it hasn't watched any Japanese porn."

Instead of what he had expected, however, the ooze began to shift moving the tentacles around it, sending them flying at the nearby fighters. Roland didn't bother trying to avoid the attack. Instead, he focused his effort on purely cutting through the tentacles as they came at him with limited success. He wasn't knocked down, but it seemed they were filled with some poison that was slowly sapping his strength, the only good news was that the creature was sustaining a great amount of damage.
