img No Misha! Trizzaldi had finally commanded (begged) Lady Verm to let her go without that bumbling , smelly, bottomless pit! Nothing, nothing was better than this! Oh yeah! A somewhat lanky blonde magician walked with her pointed staff spinning like a baton. Her head held high and her glorious cape billowing behind her. Yes she was the one, the only, the greatest Tyrant Witch, Trizzaldi The Great! She wanted to shout into the sky her freedom, but...

She stopped at a large crack in the earth that ran nearly the entire region from north to south. The only way past here was a very dangerous route if Trizzaldi remembered correctly, and of course she always had picture perfect memory! There was just one problem. She now was paired with some total newbie knight wannabe that was becoming one of Verm's favorites because she... well she just nodded and did things! Trizzaldi did sorta wish she had some minions that were that obedient... wait, she did! How silly of her, she had her astral beings! Nothing else was needed... yet! Golden eyes of the mightiest and most terrifying witch of all time swept the horizon. The sun was setting slowly of the rocky terrain.

"It's been a long time since I was here. You should be careful peon, There is little mercy for those without great power such as I. I MIGHT protect you... if I feel like it and you don't get in my way. Are we CLEAR?"

Trizzaldi said looking back with a glaring look of both superiority and disdain.

"Saber huh? You have been having some luck lately haven't ya?"

She tapped her staff in her hand with a shift of her lisps and then pointed it straight downward into the canyon.

"You wanna know what's down there? A Chaos Beast. Do you KNOW how strong those are Justicar? Or has someone of your level never even heard of one?"

A sneer appeared on the sorceresses face and she stuck her staff into the ground as she continued hoping to see some fear in this stoic knight's eyes. Trizzaldi could not stand anyone who got more attention than she. It was always like this... even before Lady Verm! It will change, she now had unfathomable power! It was only a matter of time and she would... yes indeed! The astral beings were on her side!

"As your senior, I repeat your superior... 'ahem' your BOSS. I will graciously supply you with the needed info.... hmmm now..."

Trizzaldi checked her belongings and began to look a bit flustered. No way, did she lose that? The Extractor! The Overwatcher will chew her out....

"Tell me peon... did you happen to be given the Extractor? Ya know... the thing that will get the Chaos Shard out of the dead monsters body?"

  2. How did she get paired up with this insufferable jackass again? Oh right, Mistress' order as there was no way Eldhi would - in good conscience - ever initiate a partnership with Trizzaldi, the so-called 'Tyrant Witch'. "More like Tyrant Bitch..." Eldhi shrugged mentally, wondering how could she even stay alive? Judging by her love of going into pointless fights and arguments, it would only be a matter of time until the monkey fell from the tree, no matter how strong her grip was. It normally wouldn't concern Saber but... one thing could lead to one another and sooner or later, she'd jeopardize the whole Vermillion XIII. By the Crimson Noble, it was Alphabet all over again, except without all the cuteness and affection.

"..." The white-haired Justicar was content to just stand slightly behind the blonde sorceress as she made an overly dramatic pose just before where the ground split into a massive crack. There was no audience around and yet her egotistical need to announce herself still wasn't quelled. Saber was confident Trizzaldi could be given an empty stage and still manage to put up a 'performance'. Why was Mistress send her out of all people? Sigh, maybe because she realized that pairing Misha with this walking bastion of arrogance would be the equivalent of letting a blind man lead another blind man.

"Oh..." After her little monologue, the blonde had the courtesy to acknowledge Saber's presence, now that was quite flattering considering how she behaved. "I am merely doing what Mistress wished me to." The knight answered with an incredibly deadpan look, turning her gaze slightly down to the dark ravine below. "I see." Chaos Beast, Death Dragon, The Doomy Dooms of Doom, whatever, Trizzaldi failed to realize that Eldhi had fought Vermillion in direct combat before, standing up against her, powered through her blood spears and vines, and landed a solid strike against her before finally succumbing to her wounds. Considering that, there was little else that could intimidate the Justicar.

Still... "Please enlighten me." Eldhi didn't see any need to antagonize the girl, she wasn't even mad really, it was just... apathy. Her loyalty lay with Mistress, not her, whatever she spout or claimed was of no consequence to the Justicar. However, in this case, Mistress wanted her to work with the Tyrant Witch so she'd do exactly that. "Go ahead, Tyrant Witch." Trizzaldi called her by a title, it was only fair to reciprocate in return.

Oh, what was it now? Not even one step into the ravine and problems already came up. She was so busy boasting and hollering, her priorities got all messed up. "Yes, I have." Eldhi sighed, fishing out the Extractor from her digital inventory, holding it in her hand, "Do you want to hold onto this one or shall I?" If the latter and she ended up losing it again, she wouldn't be at fault. Hey, Trizzy was the Boss, right?

  3. Naryu Canyon
img The Tyrant Witch made a triumphant smirk as she snatched the Extractor from Saber. Good, now she did not have to be ridiculed by that eye bearing dwarf! Trizzaldi held the device, which was surprisingly technical for the setting, up to the knight.
"See this baby? This is some real work of art, gotta say. That Xsune is a helpless little shrimp but this thing makes the job a heck of a lot easier."

She placed it in a small satchel at her waist. The sorceress then placed her hand on her hip and set her staff into the earth as she explained Chaos Beasts to this most likely hopeless newbie.

"Chaos Shards are the purest and most precious of the shards Lady Verm wants. These shards give off a very chaotic energy that for some reason or another attracts monsters and wild animals."

The witch shrugged with a bit of uncertainty but also lack of care.

"I guess the things fall from the sky. considering they can be somewhere that there was never one before. The shards I mean... then the monsters eat em."

Trizzaldi gave a sinister look to the Justicar. Hoping to scare her into wanting to give up. That would get her eaten real fast and save Trizzaldi the trouble of dealing with the peon. The Tyrant Witch needed no one! Not a kung fu using corpse nor a armored babysitter! Why couldn't she stay with that pink haired brat?

"Anything that eats a Chaos Shard.... transforms into a Chaos Beast. They're the worst kind of monster... vicious, unrelenting, powerful, MAD!"

She swung her arms up in a display as if telling a scary tale.

"They look like something out of colorblind kid's coloring book. You'll see, it will be worth writing home about... if you MAKE it out alive that is peon. There is one right down in the Naryu Canyon, according to Ey- uh the Overwatcher."

Finishing her explanation and avoiding calling the Overwatcher by her own personally made nickname. Trizzaldi then decided it time to get going. Saber accepted her as the boss and that was a very good sign! Perhaps the newbie could be her first personal servant someday. Once she had become so great that even Lady Verm bowed to her magical might!

"Very good peon! HAHAHAHA! Now watch carefully, my mastery of the astral arts! I shall get us to the bottom with no muss and no fuss!"

She began to chant extremely quickly for a magic user of astral magic. Magic known to have long chants. Her words flew as a large purplish portal extended beneath her and Saber. Then the two would quickly sink into the portal and vanish.

Far below at the canyon's depths. A purple portal spread across the ground and up rose the duo. The arrogant blonde looked with a smug face at the knight. This would show her the witch's greatness! She was likely trembling in her boots! Now for that monster....

    ROOOOOOOOAAAAAAAR!!!!

A massive roar echoed throughout the entire canyon. It was time to show off even more of her incredible powers!

"HAHAHAHAHA! Try not to disappoint me peon! I will do most of the work of course! Let's get cracking!"

Trizzaldi laughed her signature over the top villain way and thrust her staff forward before heading towards the roar, her cape blowing dramatically behind her.

  4. Oh yes, very useful, so much information. "..." Saber could barely keep a sarcastic deadpan look from showing up on her otherwise stoic expression. How could she not? The so-called Tyrant Witch was explaining everything she already knew from the mission briefing moments ago. It was quite evident that Trizzaldi didn't even listen or else she'd realize her white-haired companion was aware of the Extractor's purpose or the stuff about Chaos Shards and Beasts. The Overwatcher had listed everything in a nice and concise manner, no bullshit, no exaggerations, just as Saber liked it.

Still, she looked so happy, so delighted as if she derived true pleasure from being able to show off her superior knowledge. If that would make her perform her role better then why not humor her? In the end, Saber's first priority was the mission, not Trizzaldi, satisfying her ego was just a means to an end. "I see, very informative, Tyrant Witch." Saber acknowledge, her tone neutral and business-like, "W-... you will retrieve those Chaos Shards and I shall assist you. Mistress should be pleased if you present her with a bag full of them." It wasn't all that hard to figure her out, huh?

"Nothing is stronger than our Mistress so we shouldn't be intimidated. They may be strong but they are simple animals." Eldhi shrugged, "I am sure they are nothing to your illustrious powers." The white-haired Justicar peered down at the dark depths, "Well then, please lead the way." For all her boisterous ego, Eldhi had to admit that Trizzaldi had actual skill in the arcane, she was able to open a complex portal by herself faster than even a group of mages could. Impressive, Saber just had to keep her ego in check and she could use her powers to accomplish the mission. Yes, the mission, that was all that mattered.

Upon arriving, the knight immediately brandished her trusty longsword, The Judicator, as the bluish crystalline blade shone with a golden glow. Dauntless against the roar, she stepped forward then increased her pace, keeping up with the Tyrant Witch. "I tribute my body to the monster so you can focus on unleashing your masterful magic unhindered. Surely, I can do nothing else but tank a few of its hits, you are the only one who can actually slay it, Great Tyrant Witch."

Trizzaldi and her worthless knight 'ally' would not take long to stumble upon the Chaos Beast. Not just the beast either. It looked like there were bodies strewn all across the bottom of the canyon. Smashed against the rocky cliffs and torn literally into pieces here and there. Upon closer inspection it became apparent they were... magicians? The hats and robes were definitely those of magic practitioners. Trizzaldi in fact recognized their emblems... they were...

    "...What? Why are they here?"

    ROOOOOOOOAAAAAAAR!!!!

Nevermind that now! The Behemoth was daring to defy Trizzaldi the great? How foolish!

"HahahahAHAHAHAHAHA! Serves them right for getting in my way! Saber, this was once a Behemoth, a powerful monster on it's own, but made even more dangerous from that shard it ate! Don't wet yourself peon for I the Tyrant Witch, shall bring it to it's knees!"

The beast roared and prepared to attack. Trizzaldi gave it a smug grin as she began to channel her mana. Oh right! Useless squire over here needed to be warned or she would get herself killed and the sorceress would get the blame!

"Listen up peon, I'm not going to repeat this! Chaos Beasts have some properties that can be a real pain to deal with when you suck like you do! When they hit you it can cause all kinds of disorders, you need to NOT get hit, GOT IT? I don't wanna have to waste my great powers on healing your worthless hide! They also resist things completely at random. I don't think you have to worry since all you do is hack like a barbarian! Now.... let's get my SHARD!"

Trizzaldi then chanted quickly and cast her spell, thus beginning Saber's first encounter with a Chaos Beast....

So the dreaded Chaos Beast had shown itself, a mutated version of the infamous Behemoth, colored as if a demented artist just splashed paint all over its body. It stood in the middle of a bloodbath, no doubt being the one responsible for the carnage. By the looks of things, it looked like it was just simply defending itself from the foolish sorcerers who attacked it. Why? Judging by the Overwatcher's explanation, no doubt to retrieve the Chaos Shard inside its massive gut.

"..." Saber had to tread carefully here or she'd join the torn corpses around the humongous beast. With Trizzaldi around, they might have a chance of victory but she wouldn't count on it. Not because she doubted the Tyrant Witch's power, nay, her ego would be her downfall as she'd make poor tactical moves. This was a battle they must not play around with. Sigh... if only the Overwatcher could take over Trizz' body right now. Alas, she must do with powerful, yet foolish, sorceress.

The Justicar shrugged off Trizzaldi's slight moment of hesitation, only relieved that she didn't decide to retreat now after all her boasting. Any vacillation would pose a huge risk after all. "Ugh..." Saber let out a low groan of frustrated annoyance, she already knew it was a Behemoth, one of the most infamous monsters in the adventurer's bestiary and obviously it had eaten a Chaos Shard, glowing colored body much? However, she appreciated the information regarding its ability to inflict ailments.

"I am afraid you will have to prepare those healing spells. It'd do you well if I am alive long enough to keep its attention off you, we don't want it to interrupt your illustrious magic, Tyrant Witch." The knight answered flatly she stepped forward in front of the blonde, The Judicator brandished, dauntless against the beast that towered over her many times over. The abomination was stronger than her, much stronger, however, it was nothing against Mistress and she served the Crimson Noble, so why should she be afraid?

"Face me!!" Eldhi enunciated, defiant and clear, pulling the beast's attention to her as she focused her power inwards, emitting a spherical barrier of golden light around her.

Trizzaldi's face went from haughty to a look of shocking awe and then she facepalmed. Just great! As expected this knight was useless and she was going to have to deal with the elemental flipping crap of this thing alone! She was making a good human shield though.. still this was infuriating. No one was worth her time, no one! Now Trizzaldi needed to get a healing astral and... wait... oh...

"Wake UP! I don't.... um... have healing spells! You useless clanking clod! Damn it all to hell!"

She rushed up next to the knight as she chanted her astral magic. She would have to use non elementals to keep it at bay. Luckily she had a arcanamancy astral being at her beck and call just for this task! Thrusting out her left hand as her chant concluded and a sphere of energy expanded from it. It opened into a small portal.

    "Trizzaldi Impulse! HAHAHAHA!"

Waves of energy spheres emerged from the portal and crashed into the Behemoth rapidly with a magical spray of orbs. Trizzaldi ignored Saber's sleeping form and just laughed as her wave of energy continued. She was confident she could win alone if needed and anyway, it was just sleep. The knight would wake up soon.... or else!

"General Faulkner! We found the monster, i-it's killed all of the Academia mages! Foul beast! What kind of beast is this? It shines like...."

The cleric looked and saw Saber's predicament. He shouted under a opened helmet.

"Hey there! She looks like a knight? The coloring... could be House... regardless, anyone who is fighting this thing needs the blessings of the Elysid!"

He cast a curing spell on her awakening her from her sleep! The rest of the squad focused on protecting him and seemed to be waiting for their general...

"Hmph!" The Justicar was prepared, mentally and physically, to receive the enraged blow as the gigantic beast struck her with its claw, "Guh..." She knew it would be powerful, it would overpower her but surprisingly, her barrier held fast. The sphere was horribly cracked and on the verge of collapsing but she held on, that's what all that mattered. She was doing her role as a vanguard properly.

"Nnn..." At least, that what she thought as an otherworldly energy washed over her armored form. "Ah..." It wasn't pain she felt, it had come to pass. Not agony, suffering, or anything of the sort. Instead, the Justicar was stricken with an unnatural drowsiness, her red eyes struggling to stay open as her vision blurred, "Kuh..." No matter how hard she tried to stay alert, her mind was shutting off on its own. In a span of just a few seconds, the thrill of battle didn't matter anymore and the ground she stood looked very comfortable... so much she could just lay on them and sleep.

"Nnkh..." Her muscles faltered, the crystalline sword slipped from her hands as she fell unceremoniously to the ground. Gritting her teeth, the last vestige of consciousness left her mind, succumbing into a restless sleep. The panicked chastising words of the Tyrant Witch went over her head.

    ..........
    .....
    ...

"N-nngh..." Tanned eyelids fluttered open as the Justicar gradually regained consciousness, her fingers twitched before she roused awake. "!?" Red eyes opened wide in alert as what had transpired played in her mind, she was in the middle of a battle, how could she sleep?! Grunting, the Justicar got herself back up, quickly assessing the current situation. Trizzaldi was now standing beside her and... a squad of soldiers clad in crimson plate armor had joined the fight. Were they Vermillion's? No... very unlikely, Mistress would never employ 'filthy males'. A quick logical assumption would say they were related to the massacred mages, whoever they were, for this particular battle, they were her allies. 'An enemy of my enemy is my friend'

"Apologies." Eldhi muttered to the Tyrant Witch, brandished her blade then charged forward, once more into the fray! "Foul beast!!" She struck at the offending claw, clashing her crystalline blade with the distorted behemoth.

Help? Help!? Who asked for that! Certainly not Trizzaldi The Great! The Tyrant Witch recognized the colors and armor style. It was Tertorian. They were right on the border with the kingdoms' lands after all. Then it was Academia mages. Trizzaldi wondered, was she still here? Did she... die with the mages? No, would never happen. That insufferable woman, she would never lose to this thing. Much like how Trizzaldi now would never lose to anyone ever! The Behemoth then unleashed a roar that caused her to have to stick her staff into the ground to maintain balance or be blown away. her cape blew out behind her as she looked and saw the quick follow up tail swipe.

"PEON! Good you have awakened! I don't think our wannabe saviors are going to be helping too much from the way they are looking. Hmph! But no matter! HAHAHAHAHA!"

How dare this puny beastling challenge her! Did it think Trizzaldi would be like other mages and just die? Foolishness, nay, foolishness times a million! If only she could see her now....

"Try to weaken me huh? You have to be kidding me! Behold my GREAT magic brought to the next level! HAHAHAHA!"

Trizzaldi's body began to brim with bluish lightning as she chanted her astral spell. This was her greatest magic, indeed, it was why she should be worshipped!

    "TYRANT'S GATE!"

The battle field was suddenly basked in ripples of energy that began to shift everything into a strange new realm. The ground was now pure arcane energy, As far as the eye could see was infinite expanse as if they were now in another plane of existence. In truth it was not, rather Trizzaldi had brought a small amount of the astral planes into this one. Creating a buffing magic called a 'field' over the immediate area.

A white well maintained horse galloped onto the scene with a young man on it's back. Maximilian was looking on in horror at his men being swatted like flies by this monstrosity. What was this thing? He had heard reports of such creatures but never imagined they were true. The King of Beasts was a threat alone, this was madness! It could only be worse if the other more infamous monster showed up. He shook the thoughts from his mind. After all, Ikuko was nearby if the rumors in the capital were true... Then he simply had to protect his men at all costs and stop these causalities! Lady Flanst will be unhappy with him not wanting glory but so be it! He should try to get the others out as well. They looked in danger!

    "Get it together man!"

He pulled his bow from his back. It was his job to deal with the monster, just as his falcon arrow attack was unleashed a spell of some kind engulfed the area. A... field? He had only seen this once before. That caped girl was impressive! Perhaps they did have a chance...

"Tch!" The Justicar winced hard as the Chaotic Behemoth unleashed a mighty roar, the sheer force of its voice was enough to send her reeling, forcing Saber to stab her azure blade to the ground in an effort to keep herself steady. "Kuh..." She could feel every fiber of her being quaking with primal terror. While Saber could push through it, a part of her mind was driven into an utter panic, mitigating her combat performance.

By the time she pulled her sword up, the behemoth had already devastated around half of the red-clad soldiers using only a single swing of its gigantic tail. "..." It didn't look good. Emotionally, she couldn't care about them but pragmatically speaking, they could serve as cannon fodder for the beast, keeping it busy alongside her. However, even that job couldn't be done properly, losing half of their squad with a single attack was not being a proper fodder.

Trizzaldi unleashed her magic, her masterful power enveloping the very space around them, turning the floor, walls, and even the air into her domain. At any other occasion, Eldhi would be impressed, her powers were mighty. However, after seeing what the Behemoth did, the Justicar wasn't even sure it would be enough. Only time would tell.

Fortunately for the soldiers' sake, their commander arrived, a golden-haired noble warrior wielding a bow. He unleashed a mighty arrow towards the beast, striking it true. Witnessing this, Saber's spirit rose as she gripped her blade. She mustn't falter! Preparing her legs, the white-haired knight ran then jumped up towards the humongous beast, getting to its eye level before she unleashed a flash of searing light from her blade.

    skill
    Blinding Light

The divine luminescence should blind the creature-... "...!?" No, impossible. The behemoth absorbed the light into its discolored body, using her energy to heal some of its wounds. How? She didn't intend to heal it, hell, even Tenebris wasn't insane enough to attempt something like that. "..." So she saw, the beast had the power to absorb arcane energies, most likely due to the Chaos Shard it consumed. If that was the case, then perhaps she should rely on the pure physical prowess of her azure blade. It wouldn't be much but it was the least she could do.

The arrival of the red garbed man and his white steed meant little to Trizzaldi. After all, she was handling this so well that they could all just leave! That was the exact thought that she had when the chaos beast rushed right into her and Saber. Trizzaldi simply laughed as the earth rose up and took the hit for her, sending rocks flying everywhere but not hitting anyone fortunately. Her great magic would not ever backfire in such a way!

"HAHAHAHA! I am invincible! Peon! W-"

The knight was not just hit, but also seemed to have been completely wrecked by the chaos beast's ailment causing abilities. The Tyrant Witch was beside herself. This knight was so useless that she was going to die! Die and not be a good meat shield like any peon should! Unbelievable!

"Tsk! I truly DO have to do everything myself! Not that it's a surprise or anything! I guess the Tertorians will have to suffice!"

Trizzaldi said as she backed away some to cast her spell, honestly not interested in ending up like the Justicar. If by some weird fluke... that actually might happen.

The Archer of Flanst was able to get his men under control it looked like. Unfortunately things only became worse for the duo of young ladies that were facing the beast head on. Quite brave, however he still had no idea who they were or how they got here? This area was very difficult to traverse. Astoreans?

Upon seeing the body of the knight turning to stone among other things. Max gestured to his small unit.

"Move! Try and get that cleric to talk as soon as you can! I can't let anymore of you die! Stay out of harms way. This beast is not like any I've faced before!"

He rushed still riding his horse straight for the knight and reached into his saddle bag. Pulling out a gold and red bottle that looked likely created by a master alchemist. This potion was given to him by his lady in case of dire emergency. The alchemist that made it was one of the Eight Noble Lords. From what he had seen, the man was brilliant. Hopefully this would work.... he would have to explain this to his lady. He poured some of it onto the statue of Eldhi. He spoke to her uncertain if she had lost hearing yet or not.

"Young knight, you're efforts are not in vain. It will probably tingle for awhile but you should be alright now. I don't know who you are, but your in grave danger here!"

He turned his horse around and positioned himself to face the enemy. He had a worried look, but not dire. They may just pull through...

Bullying a dragon, or a beast with the power equivalent of a dragon, carried a certain consequence, one the average adventurer would not live to tell the tale. Saber certainly felt the full brunt of the Behemoth's vengeance as the King of Beasts rammed her with its massive horns, literally tossing her into the air.

"Guhck-!!" The Justicar coughed blood as her armored form was flung like a ragdoll. Unfortunately, unlike her egomaniac companion, she didn't have the Earth Guardian's blessing. The knight was forced to take every bit of agony the beast delivered. Her vision blurred, massive pain frying her nerves to the point of numbness, and she was barely conscious even before gravity embraced her.

Her armor shattered, exposing her petrifying flesh. Envenomed, blinded, exhausted, muted, crippled, utterly disoriented, and infected, one could arguably say that turning into stone was a more merciful fate than having to go through those agonies one by one. "Ngh..." A last few weak twitches were all the fallen Justicar could manage before she closed her eyes, lying limp as her body turned into a statue, depicting yet another tally to the Behemoth's long list of victims.

Would this finally be her end?

Shit out of Luck. No Action.

She was a Justicar, Vermillion's Iron Fist, she was her Judge, Jury, and Executioner! If she fell to a mere savage beast, then how could she honor her mistress?! "Nnkh..." The petrified form of Saber immediately twitched after The Red Archer of Flanst poured the concocted Elixir on her. Recovering much faster than expected, even compared to past recipients of such a potent elixir, Saber cracked the stone layer covering her body as she rose up. "Grrkh..." A guttural growl left hissed through her teeth as her red eyes narrowed in utter rage at the Behemoth. Whoever healed her, pleasantries could be exchanged later, right now, right at this moment, she would not leave until the Behemoth lay slain at her feet! Picking up her crystalline longsword, the reinforced weapon having fared better than her armor, the Justicar stood fearlessly against the chaotic beast.

"Aaaaaaargh!!" WIth a roar that was previously unheard of, Saber charged at the King of Beast! "CURSED ABOMINATION!" Forgoing her light for pure physical prowess she launched a wide swing at the Behemoth's body. Even though she was a weakling to the Behemoth, though she was a peon to the Tyrant Witch, still she was Mistress Vermillion's treasure and that's all that mattered!
