As you slowly come to, you could feel your bare skin against the cold stone floor. You are able to recall the long march you had to do as Falderen’s prisoners with the bag over your head, but you can’t remember your arrival at all. Given that you have been stripped of your belonging and had had your attire replaced with dirty rag, all the while having your wrists bound by rope, you can assume that your captives had knocked you out before they turned you into the model image of a prisoner.

You are able to use your palm menu, however, the communication button was grayed out. If you went into your inventory, you will see that it is completely empty. If you tapped on the logout button, a warning popped up saying that due to you being in a dangerous area, your character will immediately die if you go through with it.

Your cell was small, but not entirely dark, there were people around you, either already conscious or still out-cold. If you walked up to the barred door (1) that kept you locked in, you can see a dimmed light source that was a thin line ahead. From what you could see, the light seemed to be bleeding through the crack of the door leading into the room across the hall (2) from your cell. Occasionally, if you waited long enough you could see the door open, giving way to the blinding light as someone who looked like a chef carrying a tray of food casually walked out, whistling as he closed the door behind him and disappeared down the hall to your right (A). If you looked to your left, you can see another hallway that was pitch black (B).

At some point, you spotted two guards, one with the ringed-eyes and one without dragged someone down the hall, past your door (A to B). When they came back, you can see the normal looking guard peering into your cell and muttered to his partner. You can make out his words, but not his partner’s so it was a rather choppy conversation. “Was it the Felis with the white hair? When? That soon? Tch. Fine. I don’t know why we can’t just do it now and leave her in there for the night.”

After that, you may notice a few things if you look around…
    • There was nothing particularly out of place in the cell, it was fairly well-maintained.
    • If you placed your ears against the wall at the back of the cell (3), you can hear intelligible chatters, it seemed that this cell in particular was connected to another chamber that was occupied.
    • Lastly, you can see a guard with a torch coming down from hallway B, stopping at your cell and looking inside with his creepy ringed-eyes before moving down hallway A. With the clock from your palm menu, 2 hours later, you noticed that a mage with a blueish light came down the hall and doing some kind of gestures at the wall and passed by your cell without looking in. 2 hours later, the guard with the torch returned; it was a set routine!

Exhausted after the long journey, Roland had forced himself to sleep in the cold cell for some time in order to recover his strength. After he awoke again, he eyed his surroundings, noting the nondescript cell, and the others that had joined him. "Well this is a fine mess..." Roland moaned as he pushed himself upright so he could lean against the far wall, facing the barred door. With his hands bound, movement would be difficult, but he could still see his inventory, noting sadly, everything was currently missing somehow. Without supplies, any hope of using his alchemy was out the window forcing him to rely on his own wits, or the abilities of those around him. So for now he merely sat, watched, and listened hoping to recover what strength he could as he looked for weakness in the guard routine.

After a good amount of time had passed, he noted the guards rounds, and waited for them to return again. They muttered something as they passed, mentioning a white haired felis. "Did they mean Illusa?" Roland thought to himself, "But she is right here." Shaking his head he dismissed the thought, whatever thier plans were, he hoped they wouldn't find out. Standing up, he spoke in a hushed tone, "We have about two hours until the mage returns, and another two until the guard comes and checks in on us, now is likely our best chance of escape...." Looking around the room, any hope seemed grim, however as try as he might he couldn't think of a good plan of action. "To be honest," he said, "I don't have any skills that would be useful to get us out of here, unless someone has a better idea. I would say the best thing we can do is somehow convince the guard to open the cell when he returns, and ambush him once he does so. For now, I think we need to focus on removing our wristbinds..." Knowing it would be futile to simple struggle his way out of the rope that bound his wrist, Roland sat down, waiting to see what the others would do, resting for the time being, and hoping they could form some sort of a plan within the next few hours. If for some reason a guard would enter the room, whether due to distraction, or not, Roland would abandon his rest to attack him.

Action: Resting, unless the door is opened, then Roland will attempt to attack the guard barehanded.

As Surrechis came to her senses, she could feel a dim light pressing against her eyes. Cracking them open, she found herself in a shadowy cell with some other people. A bit of closer inspection revealed two of the figures to be @Ilusa Nakhalee and @Eleanor Loan. She gave a weak greeting to all of them, not quite finding the strength to stand yet. Her voice was soft but occasionally strained whenever she shifted enough to bring stress to where the arrow had hit her earlier.

"Greetings Lady Ilusa and Ms. Eleanor, it is good to see that both of you are living..."

Her voice trailed off as she ran out of things to say. What else was there to talk about- Wait, there was also another person (@Roland Rutledge) in the room. The last person was unfamiliar, how did she miss him? Regardless, given that the quest was to rescue the princess of an enemy nation, he would surely not be a man of too dubious moral character. Hopefully. When he started speaking however, Surrechis felt she had a grasp on his character. He was definitely the adventuring type. She turned to him and said,

"Forgive me, I did not see you there. I'm afraid I do not have anything that could help with removing our wrist binds. My name is Surrechis, may I ask your name?"

What could she do? She barely had any idea what she was doing when she was traveling and now she was imprisoned by Falderan. She did her best to remain calm and composed but the stress of the situation left her in an unstable mood. They had taken away her usual clothing and the ceremonial dagger she had obtained recently but they couldn't take away her magic. Without resorting to cutting out her tongue at least, she thought, as she remembered what had happened to Astor before. She shook those thoughts away, she would do what she could. Doing her best to focus, she started to softly sing a healing melody. Hopefully it wouldn't attract any of the guards. They all looked worse for wear and Surrechis herself felt a bit battered but the others would come first. She doubted that she could do all that much compared to the rest of her group.

The virtual world often filled Eleanor with a sense of inspiration and glee. Between vibrant displays of color and beauty, and mysterious vastness beyond imagination, it was easy to be lost in the magnificence and magnitude of a seemingly infinite virtual universe! The world was full of life changing sights, adventure, mysteries to unfold, and moments that could spur love and laughter... But this was not one of those moments.

Her muscles ached from the long, arduous journey to where they were now located. The rags that had replaced her clothing rubbed on her skin like sandpaper. But discomfort was not the only issue, her stomach grumbling beneath the ragged shirt. Still somewhat out of it, she sat with dazed eyes staring towards the barred door. The subtle twist in her arms being positioned behind her back began to strain into an occasionally painful twinge that shot through her biceps.

She was only tugged from this hopeless trance upon hearing the voices of the others within her cell. With blurry eyes, and foggy thoughts, a few of their words slipped past her. Still, with each passing statement, she made attempts to renew her focus, but it was a laborious task. Even keeping up with a conversation was straining, her mind dancing on the fringes of consciousness, fading in and out, before a song from @Surrechis helped in aiding her.

"Eehm..." Squirming to her feet, she walked towards the barred passage out, placing her face near to the blocked path, she peeked left and right, squinting her eyes in an attempt to see further. As if on instinct, she made an attempt to bring her fingers up to her temple, as investigation mode would most certainly be a useful tool in this situation, but alas... Her hands remained bound.

"I might be able to manage a..." Turning back to the group, she leaned back on the bars, muscles still sore and aching. It was the most she could do to maintain some sort of reasonable posture. "Short range teleportation... But I'm not sure what after that." As much as it was the best idea she could think of, it was a dangerous one. Caught outside of her cell, she could be tortured or killed. Her hand still ached from the previous wound the soldiers had inflicted...

"What have you all up your sleeves? There must be a way out..."

    Action: Resting and contemplation!

Ilusa woke up suddenly, but she kept her eyes closed and stayed still, pretending to still be asleep. To be quite honest, she did not remember being that bad off that she fainted. Or that tired that she fainted. Or that sleepy that she fell asleep. And her head ached.

The easy reply to that was that there must have been a spell or an airborne, invisible gas. ..Or perhaps a knock to the head or neck she did not see or feel coming (a professional).

A few moments later it seemed sure that whoever was around was not an enemy, and so she opened her eyes, groaning as she sat up, muscles and half-healed wounds aching and not feeling the need to hide the hurt. Then she glanced around, spotting... Three familiar figures. It seemed that she was somewhat lucky in that her companions were people she knew of, seen, or briefly interacted with.

Her hands were bound but she could manoeuvre them to actually do something with her menu. Feeling dread at the state of her clothes against her skin, she checked her inventory and bit back a wail.

‘Nooo! It’s completely empty!’ Her ears dropped in dismay and checking her current equipped gear she almost winced. What was worse was the fact that the communication button was greyed out.

She glanced around, noticing the confines of their cell and could see a bit of light. The moment she heard the sounds of footsteps outside, she closed her eyes and leaned against the wall to pretend being unconscious when the guards reached it. There was sound, perhaps one was leaning in to see better? And fragments of the conversation reached her.

‘Pizdets.’ It seemed her earlier grim thoughts were spot on. Once the footsteps went away she opened her eyes and glanced at her status; her health recovered a bit but the condition and debuff icons made her silently curse.

“Oh, they certainly will check on us to drag me out.” The felis grimly said in reply to @Roland words and then sighed raising her hands and staring at the knots. Then the little faerin decided to heal them a little. But with the debuff the action was weaker than it would have been normally.

“…” Then she thought silently, watching her eyes with speculation. If those were normal ropes… After sharing her thoughts outloud, she licked her lips, ignored the headache and cast the spell. Wisps of light reached to the ofered hands, the innocently looking lines made of light gave off quite the heat. Ilusa was planning on burning with the light through the ropes.

@Roland Rutledge was hopeful, but the guards simply left after the brief exchange, not interested in grabbing the white-haired Felis until later, as one of he guards had said. The jail door seemed to be locked.

@Surrechis sang softly. One might have thought someone would be able to hear it, but thanks to the kitchen accross the hall being rather noisy, her vocal went unnoticed. Everyone heals for 1HP.

@Ilusa Nakhalee was rather clumsy with the execution of her spell. But, she did manage to free everyone from their bindings, but from the exposure to the light-based heat, it ended up injuring the rest of the group. Everyone but Ilusa takes 5HP burn damage and drop the wrist-bound condition. Since the spell is being applied through Ilusa's hand, she can't free herself, it seems another person can help free her with minimal effort.

A while afterwards, the cook who passed by your cell earlier returned to the kitchen across the hall. He seemed to be empty-handed after delivering the food. The blinding light and the sounds of plates and other food preparation can be heard when the door swung open, it seemed they are working full time. You reckoned it must have been around dinnertime and assume that the cook or the maids are sure to go exchange empty plates from the dinning hall soon.

The guard with the torch will return in about 1 hour and 25 minutes, according to your clock, which says it is currently 19:00.

    Notes:
    • A few things I need to mention, since this is freeform, please be a little explicit with what kind of spells you are casting and their effects!
    • In total, everyone except Ilusa must subtract 4HP and drop the bound-wrist condition.

The blinding light stung Surrechis's wrist as @Ilusa Nakhalee's spell went off but it did the job well enough. That was one obstacle down at the very least. And she could mover her arms freely, which was great. Not so great was the fact that she still didn't really have a plan or any skills to get out of the prison. She would leave the planning to the other members of the group, surely they would have thought of something by now. Surrechis went over to Ilusa and tried to undo the bindings by hand.

If she lacked the skill or strength to break the ropes, she would ask Ilusa to close her eyes and remain still. It wasn't something she wanted to be exposed but considering the circumstances... it was no time to hold back. She would use her Malefimancy to destroy the ropes if needed, but only after making sure that no one was looking.

Roland with-held a grimace as he smiled gratefully at Ilusa as his hands came free, the stinging pain from the proccess was simply overshadowed by the feeling of freedom it had served. Staring the ropes on the floor Roland pondered their use, not knowing anything off hand, he took them holding them loosely in his off hand. "Well it's not a weapon I'm exactly proficient with, but its better than nothing."

Their plan was set, albeit not in stone. Elenor would try to use her magic to teleport through the door, and unlock it while Surrechis tried to free Ilusa of her binds. He was thankful it seemed he was trapped with a few magic users, with their skills it seemed they had a good chance of at least getting free. The problem remained in that, they were likely in a housing surrounded by a large legion of men. Escaping from that was going to be difficult, but they'd have to take it one step at a time. With a curt nod towards Elenor, Roland spoke, "We only have about an hour until the guard returns go ahead and try to unlock that door. I'll come out with you, and we will have to secure this hall..." Wearily he eyed both passageways thinking about his plan. The guard on patrol normally made his way from north to south, but as he wasn't due for another hour they shouldn't need to worry about him quite yet, the biggest risk would likely be from what seemed to be the back entrance of the kitchen. It didn't seem like any guards came through there, but they opened the doors at irregular intervals, and even a civilian could raise an alarm. "Once you unlock the door, I will cover the room across the way and make sure we don't have any guests, after that I suggest we move south (A)." Roland grit his teeth as he prepared himself to move.

Action: Roland will wait for Elenor to try to unlock the door. If successful, he will move to try and secure (Keep and eye on/keep shut if possible) the door of room 2. He is armed with an impromptu weapon in the form of a rope, which he will try to use to disarm, armed opponents, or strangle unarmed civilians that happen upon them.

Feeling the bright heat on her wrists, Eleanor jerked her hands forward and... To her surprise, they were free from their bindings! Though the process had resulted in some minor discomforts, it was most definitely worth it to have their oh so useful arms untangled. "Thank you..." She gave a sincere smile, bowing her head briefly to @Ilusa Nakhalee, the one who had freed her from the restraints.

"Alright..." The detective took a deep breath, glancing towards @Roland Rutledge. "No time to waste then, huh..." Turning to step towards the blocked passage to their cell, Eleanor raised her hands up to the rough bars. Taking grip around them, she focused her energy. The violet glow that radiated from her palms was not as it often was, this time appearing much dimmer and subtle. Maybe even going unnoticed, if one did not examine closely.

Closing her eyes, she inhaled deeply, focusing her energy. At the peak of her breath, she held it for a moment, before exhaling. Opening her eyes, if she had managed it, she would be staring into the cell from the other side, having blinked across the barrier. What followed, success or not, was a dull hum in the back of her head. A signal of magical exhaustion. It was one she remembered experiencing often, before she was more competent with her arcanamancy. A familiar, yet unwelcome feeling washed over her.

Alas, there was little time to assess her minor discomforts. Lives were in the balance. With haste, she set out to assessing the barred doorway. Finally able to access investigation mode, she scanned for some sort of block or locking mechanism. Whatever it was, she would get to seeing what she could do to disable it, and get the door open.

Action: Attempt to teleport to the other side of the barred door, making attempts to unlock/unbar the door, using arcanamancy if it is required, to free her cellmates!! Jailbreak!

The scent of singed flesh reached her and Ilusa winced at the realisation that no, her control over the offensive spell was not what it should be. Then again, she did warn them and she did use an offensive spell for a non-offensive use. Still, she apologised, her ear twitching even as the words of gratitude reached her.

Then the little faerin mentioned the sounds on the wall and as she let the young girl (possible Not-Player) try to free her own hands, Ilusa kicked the wall few times, to check if there was someone from the Player group.

How to check it? Easy. Her leg kicked it thrice, a short tap-tap-tap. Then she dragged her heel over the wall, thrice, making three longer taap-taap-taap. And then did the quick kicks again, short tap-tap-tap. Morse code. Maybe another Player could hear it. And even if not, they should hear something through it, right?

That done, she decided to actually heal up her cohabitants and heal what she caused. Sure, the highest spells were out of her grasp, but the lower and mid-tier spells shone in her mind brightly. And while she did use hands when casting, it was more as means of focus; the gestures were not really needed.

Thus she focused inwardly, on the words themselves, not on anything that was happening. One hour before the guards came back was aplenty.

“Trülfar bärnoi dunhyohan-turya, moitrashnahya prëhär. Frakastani fruhlaishi girlanpa. Shürnsho roitï munpär-” Words of power flowed through her and light started to seep out from her body, in wisps. Unlike the spell before, the warmth it gave was small and not hurtful. Ilusa looked at @Roland Rutledge, @Surrechis and then even @Eleanor Loan (the spell reach was far enough that it would reach her even if she were on the other side of the door now). “Defh harnuchan unstrafala kwartïr.” The wisp of light swayed, flying over to the humans and faerin, wrapping around them like a warm blanket. The light sunk into most visible wounds, soothing the pain and knitting the flesh back as much as it could.

Action: Using morse code to kick the wall in SOS. Using illumancy to heal Roland, Surrechis and Eleanor

@Surrechis It took you some time, but eventually, you succeed in wrestling Ilusa free from her binding. Though, you noticed some rashes from fiddling too much with the rope, it is mildly irritating.

@Ilusa Nakhalee Hopeful as you were there was no response on the other side of the wall. The sound resembled that of laughter and merriment, which you are able to discern thanks to your Felis' ears. With your hands free, you are able to concentrate on your healing attempt and succeed in doing so. You forgo your own healing to help your party recover by 5HP, losing 10EN in the process.

@Eleanor Loan You succeed in teleporting onto the other side of the barred door. Though it was far too dark to even use investigation mode. Thankfully, the wisp from the Felis priestess provided a temporary light source as it hovered around you. While investigation tool didn't help as much as you had thought, you were able to feel the inside of the lock with your magic.

It took some effort to be quiet as you studied the lock mechanism, but once you discover its incredibly simplistic design, it took very little effort to unlock it as you are able to move the parts inside the lock with your magic. The door came open rather easily, allowing the others to escape into the hall if they so choose.

@Roland Rutledge With the jail door opened, you snuck up to the door into the kitchen with your improvised weapon, but are unable to execute your plan as you do not know what was behind the door leading into the kitchen.

If you looked through the keyhole, you can see that there are roughly 2 cooks who are busy working the stove and 3 female servants. One of the woman was in the middle of the room chopping meat with a cleaver while the other two are off to the side, chatting away while they reclined on what looked like massive bags of flour. They seemed to be fully invested in their task and did not seem to hear anything from your party at all.

Out in the hallway, you finally get a sense of the sheer size of the prison. Down hallway B, you see that there was an adjacent cell next to you, though from what you can tell at a glance, there didn't seem to be anyone you knew there. Looking down hallway A, you can see that there was a hallway leading somewhere. A faint light was coming down there (C), it was most likely some kind of garrison room where the cook went to deliver the food earlier.

"Let's get you guys out of there..." Stepping back from the unblocked door, Eleanor pulled it open carefully, attempting to make the metal contraption move without much noise. Depending on how rusty or creaky it was, this might have been impossible, but it was worth the effort. Her teleportation had managed to be a success, at the very least!

Twisting her gaze towards @Roland Rutledge, as he appeared to be the most physically competent among them. It was also a relief to see that he had manged to arm himself, even if it was just a rope. "Perhaps we could sneak into the kitchen and attack them. Use their clothes as disguises. I think that we will be attacked on sight, if caught in these." She whispered in a low tone, as not to attract any attention, pulling her left hand up and onto her hip.

"Do you know how many are in there?" Fearful that she might make a wrong noise and bring a swift death to them all, Eleanor did not dare to venture close to the door to the kitchen, staying quite close to the cell door that previously contained them. Anxiety and caution crept up her legs from her feet with each movement she made, as if the floor was lava.

Action: Trying to stay quiet and keep out of the way from other party members, prepared to follow through with the 'attack the chefs' plan, if it is accepted by the group.

Well, it seemed like the others were committed to the plan. They would attack the staff in the kitchen for disguises and weapons. If they could find the rest of the group, perhaps they could arm the others as well. Of course, the obvious problem was the noise that a scuffle would cause and the time limit they were under. She was nervous, no doubt but she would do her best. Taking a calming breath, she began to get ready to sing in such a way that would hopefully cancel out noise while being undetectable, whenever the group was ready to begin the assault. Fingers crossed that it would all be fine.

Her ears twitched hearing the merriment on the other side. ‘So, not fellow prisoners then.’

With help of @Surrechis, her hands were freed before she was casting and so the spell went off without a hitch. Yet, even so Ilusa winced at the inefficiency of the spell. Truth was that she got used to her heals being more powerful and less draining. The setback was unwelcome.

Then they were free. From the cell at least and as they, one by one walked out of it, the Felis frowned when even now the spells she wished to use were out of her grasp. Of course she thanked the bluenette, quietly and as she glanced around the hallway, she noticed a blue light coming off the walls. Curious, she initiated the investigative mode, touching her temples with her fingers as her eyes flashed silver light while she tried to gain some information about the unusual glow and… Were those symbols?

As she did that, a whispered plan was made and then she added her own input. An offer of a spell heavily influenced by real-life flash grenade named Flash Marble. Its effect was stun and blind. It did not last long but had wide area effect.

What was best was the fact that when in inert state, it did not give off light, it looked like a white ball. Ilusa came over to @Roland Rutledge and whispered into his ear. “You’ll have to open the door and give me a signal.” Then she moved back and started an incantation, as quietly as possible, a mere whisper.

“Qoina-mär nuhoi.” It was not long incantation and on her palm, a white ball appeared, innocuous in its look. Best part was also that the last words set target area so the moment she threw the Flash Marble, it would fly into the mentally decided space. And in this occasion it was the area behind the doors.

Truth to be told she did not feel that their chances were all that great, due to numbers and possibility of the alarm sounding. As she waited for a signal, Ilusa wondered, if they would manage and take over the kitchen, perhaps there would be enough items to whip out a hair (and fur) colour changing potion?

The moment Roland gave the sign; she would throw the Flash Marble and hope that he and @Eleanor Loan would defeat the enemies quickly.

Action: Using investigation mode to check the blue glow on the walls. Prepared Flash Marble spell and will throw at Roland’s sign.

Roland shot @Eleanor Loan a sly smile as she opened the door for them, quickly before slinking into the stone hallway. It seemed their jailbreak had so far gone on un-noticed allowing Roland a moment to take in the scene around him. It seemed there was another similar cell further down the hall, as well as a door immediately in front of their jail cell going to a kitchen. A rather well-staffed kitchen, unfortunately. Roland silently cursed his luck, had they chosen to break out during night time they likely wouldn't have needed to deal with quite so many people. At this rate not only would the kitchen be fully staffed but the guard posts would be as well. They needed to find some weapons and quickly.

It seemed it was Eleanor who spoke first, voicing an opinion to raid the kitchen for supplies. Roland hesitated before speaking, wondering if it would be worth the risk. Eyeing @Surrechis silently she seemed to agree, despite this she seemingly prepared a spell for the operation. A quick glance at @Ilusa Nakhalee's hand made her intent clear, and it seemed she would be relying on Roland to determine the correct timing. Fearing the guard may come at any moment, Roland hesitantly gripped the door, quietly pulling it open just enough for her to see through. Shielding his eyes from any bright burst Roland took cover in the hallway, as he waited for Ilusa to cast her spell, before being the first to burst in prioritizing the girl with the cleaver and attempting to disarm her tool before she could recover, while making it very clear not to make any noise or sudden movements.

Action: Roland would open the door for Ilusa to cast her spell, and try and disarm the cook with the cleaver immediately afterward. If more time passes he would try to incapacitate any threats nearest an exit.
