Do Fish Dry Their Scales?

  1. Advertising deal... is this guy in marketing? It pisses me off a bit that he came up with that before me. I'd never thought of using a streamer to advertise my abilities, maybe even make a name for myself. Hell if I'm going to stream though. I don't need asshole's pm'ing me for nudes or trying to figure out who I actually am. If they did get my identity, it would be social suicide.

"Heyyy, this guy with the marketing tips, huh? That's not bad a bad idea with a stream."

Backfire grinned and attempted not to speak through her teeth as she said this.

"I don't mix the game and the outside world. This is this, and that's that. Here I'm Backfire, there I'm... well it doesn't matter much who I am out there. I don't even see the fun in talking about it. I mean, I didn't start playing to talk about my job or if the intern's coffee sucks at the office. Here we're free. Heh, best to act like it right, Rory?"

Backfire shot a 'leave the outside world, outside' glare then turned to Lucia.

    "Lucia, huh..."

    Backfire grinned ear to ear.

"If you ever need a stream-pal, I'm game Necromancer. Who knows, once I get a few more skills under my belt, maybe the two of us... or even three if Rory is in, could blow some crap to hell. Nothing like a little chaos to get an audience excited. Could be fun, right? Maybe make a little cash on the side or what have you. Not to mention, I keep hearing all this talk about war on the horizon. Nothing better then a good battle in my book. Get's the blood pumping, and good for business or what have you."

Backfire winked slyly at Rory and Lucia.

"I'm going go try and do something with all of these fish parts. Now that we're all friendly, feel free to message me if you two stumble on any good opportunities. Of course if either of you ever needs me for something. I don't work for free... hehe but I'm sure we can make a deal."

    Backfire eyed Lucia.

"Don't forget, I'm into demolition I don't think you and your skeleton horde would need much help in a brawl, but maybe there's a situation when a bridge needs to go missing, a castle wall needs breaching, a port needs torching... hehehe, man I'm drooling just thinking about it. You need some of that type of work done, you give me a call.

Backfire straightened herself, turned, and began walking towards town.

    "Later."

  2. Lucia nodded a little at the compliment about being nice. She wouldn't refuse it at least, it was good to have someone think nice. "No no, usually only undead show up on it, whether it's them fighting or me raising and making them. I make different videos; the combat ones are pretty cut and dry, but the raising and building are more like vlogs to keep track of everything I do for reference." Lucia tried to explain. Likewise, if she were pointing cameras at someone it was likely because they were either going to be attacked by her soon or had some role to play in a thrall's birth. Naturally she didn't try to bring people in who she had no problems with, or at least had no interest in the goings on of the undead.

Being told about social media though, Lucia raised a finger, giving it a small wag as if to say 'not so fast'. "That is right, if I'd been using normal social media or storage devices, naturally I would be in big trouble. The game itself however has it's own social media in the form of the Zero Channel. I'm not the only one using it to gain fame or even profit. While I can't call myself particularly popular or famous, there are some who are." Lucia explained patiently since it was an important thing to know. People couldn't spread the game's existence naturally, there would be consequences. Instead, the content simply had to be kept in places the game approved for it to be spread to other players.

Though at the woman's words of offering her services again Lucia could only chuckle. Gold was the most unreliable currency in game. Later on they might find out how worthless it truly is. Unfortunately reserves were important for the community, which was why she couldn't just give to people who were new, but it didn't really have as much value as the other currencies and points. "If I do, you'll be the first to know then. Don't be a stranger." She offered to the woman who seemed to want to move on to her next quick buck. A striking personality but not one Lucia hated-- She tended to like big and noticeable characters after all. Glancing back to Rory though, Lucia flashed a small smile. "If you're looking for good landscapes and places to explore and see though, I'd recommend picking up some Seafaring and Mounting. You won't be able to reach the really special places without them." She tried to offer thinking that that was the type of thing Rory enjoyed in this game rather then the various NPC affairs.

  3. The somewhat stupefied man gave a short wave to Backfire, who had come and left much like the swift blaze she seemed to portray. He quickly turned his attention back to Lucia, who brought up an interesting topic again. "Zero Channel, huh?" Well, served him right for not talking to more people. "Sounds cool. I'll hit it up sometime." A stray thought passed his mind, causing him to giggle slightly. "Sorry, I was just thinking you'd make a cool first NPC to meet in a game. Decently powerful-seeming, already have your cohort of minions, unusually helpful. Good stuff."

After a slightly gruffer cough than was perhaps natural, Rory returned to a more composed state. "I have to get a little stronger before I can acquire more Masteries right? Oh, wait, defaults," he said, snapping his fingers. "Caught myself that time." The newb seemed rather pleased with himself. "Anyway, I'll shelve that approach for now and pick it up later. I should try and, uh, get into the flow of things."

"Well, anyway, I don't want to keep you for too long, since you are headed somewhere after all," Rory added. "I should find someone to party with at some point, though. Battle shouts ain't really good for soloing, right?"

  4. Lucia couldn't help a warm laugh at the talk of being a fun first NPC. She couldn't fault it, if she'd met an NPC like her when she first joined, she'd be smitten personally. "Is that so? It's unfortunate I'm not an NPC despite my notoriety, if I was I bet I would've given cool quests." Lucia mused, the prospect of NPCs was interesting to her, she was always curious about them because she needed them as a summoner, but others might not be as immersed as she was. "I do still have one last step to take before becoming 'decently powerful' in my own eyes though." She commented, she had mastery of undead, but without an illustrious mastery she felt it wasn't grand enough to be decent on a world level.

Though when he brought up defaults and mastery acquiring, she grinned a little nodding back. It was difficult to level up, particularly in the early stages when it was harder to make moves that would bring around big returns. Instead, it was a slow building process to create a foundation. "It wouldn't hurt to test some combat styles using your masteries. There are a lot of options you won't know about simply from the descriptions. Take Malefimancy I started with, everyone used it to make black evil bolt attacks but I used it to prey on my opponents with drains, toxins and illnesses." She tried to offer advice, experimenting helped make masteries higher much easier then the alternative she thought. Finding someone to compare notes with and try new things with and expand on techniques was how she got stronger.

Nodding back, she slid her arms back, knowing that if she took too long she might miss the meeting that was called, that wouldn't reflect well upon her. "Alright then, I'll get going~" She commented turning her back to get on her way. After a few steps though she turned her head up and answered him as she went. "Everything is as good as you let it be~ Experimenting will help you figure things out-- After all, Battle Shouts don't just have to effect allies." She tried to hint. Battle Shouts was the Martial orientation of Phantasmia after all, a Mastery that she was planning to acquire down the line. It could effect allies as well as enemies.
