The Dark Harvest Festival is almost upon Falderen. This annual festival is the biggest and spookiest highlight toward the end of autumn. Since there are a lot of preparations to be done, there are notices asking for help everywhere you go in Falderen. In the weeks leading up to the festival, Falderen economy experiences an incredible boon as the crown eases up the tariffs on importation, increasing business everywhere in the Kingdom.

Below are a collection of domestic quests, which are looking for hired hands right now!

Note: All Dark Harvest Quests will be labeled as (DH)

    What is this?
This is a special series of quests that's only around for October and the first week of November. The faire will start in roughly 3 weeks, where all of these quests will affect it. Each character may only take one of these at a time.

Every year around the Dark Harvest season, the demands for brews spike by a hundredfold, all farms are especially overworked to finish the last of their harvesting and producing an numerable number of alcoholic kegs to be delivered to the capital city in Dunnstads.

To begin, your party must possess either Cooking or Alchemy to take the quest. Each of the mastery help determine the quality of your brew by the end of the quest.

Objectives: All of these objectives must happen within your thread for it to be considered complete!
    • Harvest the crops
    • Process the crops and brew them
    • Optional: Ship them to Dunnstads
    Cultivation/Engineer:
    • Allow that person to roll to see how much crops they can harvest.
    • This determines the number of batches the group is able to brew.
    • Roll d8 to determine how many batches of crop you are able to harvest. Modifier: +0.5 for every mastery tier excluding beginner, round down.
    Cooking/Alchemy:
    • These mastery allow you to brew, you roll to determine the quality of all of the batches.
    • The number of batches of crops you can brew is determined by the roll result of the person with Cultivation or Engineer mastery.
    • If there is no one in the party with Cultivation or Engineer, you can only produce 2 batches.
    • Roll #xd100 where # is the roll result Cultivation or Engineer. You apply the modifier to all dice that are rolled. Each batch has their own quality.
    • Modifier: +10 for every mastery tier excluding beginner.
    Brew Quality:
    • 01-30 Poor
    • 31-70 Average
    • 71-95 High Quality
    • 96-100 Superb

    Process
    • Roll in (Roll) Dark Harvest Preparation before posting.
    • You can only roll for a one of the actions IF you had one of the listed mastery.
    • If there are multiple people in the party with the same mastery, everyone can roll, but only count the highest dice (also include modifier).
    • Mention your roll and modifier at the end of your post. You can only roll once per thread so roll whenever you're doing the actions below.
    • You can't roll for an action unless you have that mastery.

It is not a festival without all of the big and showy attractions that occupy the faire's ground. With an incredible number of festival activities planned for the faire, builders are necessary more than ever. And so, you and your party has been hired by private investor who asked the party to design and construct a unique attraction for the faire that would garner enough interest to make them money.

    Objectives:
    • Design an attraction at the faire
    • Make a plan for the attraction in-character
    • Construct it
    • The DM will rate its potential afterwards
    Process:
    • No rolling necessary, simply work together to design an attraction (festival games, mirror house, haunted place, etc.) and build it.
    • This thread will involve a lot of dialogues and planning, it is recommend you do shorter posts to accomplish more!

One of the most popular attraction in the recent years has been none other than the Strange Exhibition, ran by none other than Earnesto Munster himself. Earnesto was once a famous hunter of bizarre creature and turned his business into a very successful business by touring around the world. However, he's rather old now and can only depend on the younger generations to go out and help capture strange beasts and monsters for his exhibit.

You might have encountered one of his ads in a city somewhere, looking for young and able adventurers to find the most exotic beast or monster and capture it for his showcase at the faire.

    Objectives:
    • Attempt to capture a strange beast or monster within 2 rolls
    • Only subdue the creature, do not kill it
    • Deliver it to Earnesto and his company
    • DC is # player times 120
    • Modifier: (Beast Taming, Hunting, Geomancy, Hydromancy, & Malefimancy) +5 for every mastery tier excluding beginner.
    Process:

This year, there appears to be a contest the fair has been aggressively advertising, that is a musical contest between groups known as the Battle of the Spook. You are backed by a private investor to participate in the contest. However, the band's assembly and practice is entire up to you.

    Objectives:
    • Assemble a band
    • Come up with a theme or style and a name
    • Compose a song that your band will compete with
    • Practice and prepare for a band battle during the faire
    Note:
    • This is an entirely social thread
    • The time span is roughly a few weeks
    • Only characters with the Music mastery or people whose background is in music should consider going on this quest.

  8. Quest: Battle of the Spook
Thread Summary: Created a song with Cadenza Lacrimosa as the base. Though Surrechis was unable to attend, Cain and Harveste are doing interchanging lyrics, from low, fast lines to painfully high pitched arias. They wish to paint the image of a man's descent into madness and a woman's grief of witnessing that transformation, through song and dance.

  11. Quest: Dark Harvest - Faire Artisan
Thread Summary: Made, designed, and built a haunted mansion complete with special effects (artificial and magical), and an actual curse on the structure thanks to a violent murder and human sacrifice performed on the land. After all, what's the best way to make a haunted house than to actually make it haunted?

    The Haunted Mansion
You stand almost hypnotized by conflicting emotions of fear and curiosity, silently gazing at the dilapidated house given life to by unknown hands. You begin to shiver as though ice had replaced your spine, thanks partially to the cold sea air that enveloped your entire body. However, not even multiple layers of clothing would protect you against the deathly cold that came from within you, born from a primal fear of the unknown inherent in all sentient being regardless of shape, size, or race. It was the one thing that made all equal, and the structure before them now was just that – it was fear incarnate.

A single, time-worn walkway led up to house; the dead trees that lined the sides of the path like pilgrims with their hands raised high in praise of some pagan god, informing of the fresh sacrifice that was about to come. Red roses grow wildly in thick batches by the gate, almost as if staining the entryway with blood and deter all passersby from entering the cursed place. The light from the moon cast a ghoulish glow on the structure, the rotting vines on its side forming a twisted maze of green upon the side; reaching their tentacles towards the roof and into the cracks into.

The mansion's walls showed black decay by purposeful neglect, the splotches of original paint hinting at the owner’s former prosperity before some tragedy forced them to abandon whatever wealth they had. Cobwebs covered the corners of the doors, tiny black spiders threading towards their prey; adding a final touch to the manor of damned, fit for the kings and queens of the supernatural. You tell yourself that it was not real, but your trembling lips and clammy hands belie that thought. You want to go back – to forget this horrible place and leave whatever sleeping entity that dwelled within alone. However, you are forced by your own curiosity; you know something bad is bound to happen. Nevertheless, you take a single step towards your own damnation.

The door begrudgingly creaked open when you pushed it; you curse yourself, noting that the noise could have awoken the secrets that should have stayed secret. A musty, dank order creeps into your nose, but you ignore it. You have no intention to confirm whether or not it belonged to a corpse or not. You call out for anyone to sate your anxiety, but the house was dead silent except for the intermittent creaks and moans from the rotting wood that now had to support the footsteps of a live visitor. You look up to see black and brown mold that dotted the ceiling in clusters, evident of years of rain seeping through the roof.

Unwilling to stay and endure the oppressive darkness of the entryway, you quietly entered the dark living room with a stone in your throat. Windows covered with grime and dirt welcome you into the ordered madness, the calm moonlight struggling to penetrate the choking darkness in thin rays. Sharp shadows roamed around the room; you know it was just your mind playing tricks on you, but nothing you could do could stave off the crawling fear that crept up your back. The sofa and chairs suddenly overturned, revealing deep grooves on the ground where they used to sit. Something had just forced them to tumble. You panic and try to run back where you came in, but it was too late – the door had already shut. You are now trapped inside this cursed manor.

You run up the splitting staircase and see a large jagged hole dug through the middle wall that dared any to enter, or at least peek into the unknown, instead of running either left or right. You enter the hole as if pulled in by some unseen force and see picture frames that hung off-center from a misplaced grand bookcase that stood the corner of the room, undisturbed for a long time, which begged the question as to what else the force that overturned the furniture in the living room was capable of moving such a weight. If one were to correctly guess, selecting the correct book could reveal a secret doorway into a labyrinth that led into the bowels of the haunted house where the secret of its damnation lay hidden. To brave the depths meant to risk horrors beyond your imagination, but at the same time, it might be the only way to your salvation.

Should you choose to go back into the hallway, you would see a sliver of light coming from behind a door. You would be tempted to approach and open the door. If you do, you would find out that the room was that of a grand bathroom, dust swirling around like bubbles floating in some infernal sea. The medicine cabinet mirror lay shattered in pieces on the floor tile. Empty medicine bottles lay in the porcelain wash bowl, where a closer look would reveal the discoloration of the water – a malady-brown concoction from which emanated a rank odor you remember from when you first entered the house. A lone mouse stood sentry at the bottom of the tub. Never having a visitor in a while, it curiously eyed me before scuttling away into the darkness, just before that same darkness took shape before your very eyes.

You try to scream for help, but fail. After all, dead men’s words hold no meaning in this cursed place.

Do not let it catch you.

    Escape your fate.

    Or succumb.
