  1. In the distance, he could see the smoke and the raging flames that raced across the night sky above the tree line, from the heavy breathing from Seto, It was clear he could barley breath from the amount of energy he had used to quickly teleport himself, he had been pushing himself to his limit and now it was starting to bite him royally in the ass but he had to keep moving dammit! It wasn't much further! He had to be only half a mile now from what he could see, he could see the origins of the smoke and the raging fire in the background.

"Dammit.........Why the hell now.....of all times???? Damm those bastards!......erhh....I gott keep moving, am almost there."

Out of breath and exhausted, his body forced him on one of his knee's for the moment, Seto cussed to himself under his breath as growled quietly to himself, his body couldn't give out now dammit! The damm town was only a short distance away, this wasn't the time for his body to give out, he had to move now! The constant screams and destruction in the distance didn't bother him mentally but it kept reminding him he would have to move now If he wanted to save the town. His body just wouldn't let him travel anymore since he had been teleporting himself the entire day and to think this all started early in the morning when a messenger came to him with a message from the mayor requesting his immediate assistance since the town was being targeted by a large group of armed people. Even though he had departed at once to goto Dawngrave's aid mostly out of obligation than anything else, he still refused to let it be destroyed or razed to the ground, well it seemed things wern't going to go his way since he was almost out of energy now at this point. He just couldn't believe it right now at this moment of all times that Dawngrave was under threat by some group, most likely bandits or raiders but it was his luck they would only attack when he wasn't there to protect it.

He had no choice he supposed now with the low amount of energy he had left in his body, placing his right hand on his chest over his heart, he placed his other hand on the ground to brace himself. Slowly he gathered the small amounts of energy he had remaining in his body and transferred such energy into his heart after he had turned it's neutral nature into dark energy which immediately after it entered his heart, it began sucking the lifeforce from his body. The pain was real, he could feel as it started to become harder to breath and his body started to scream out in pain all over yet at the same time, his body started to become more engerizied and soon within a few moments could feel his energy returning to nearly fifty percent. It came at a cost of course, he sacrificed half of his total life force to regain half of his energy back, .The countless small open wounds didn't help but at least it wasn't interior bleeding, as long they didn't become any worse, he should be fine for now albeit taking it easy. He could use any powerful attacks he was known for but for now he had to conserve his energy until he could be completely healed by a white mage whom the only one in the area was in Dawngrave. There wasn't any time to spare, putting his middle and index fingers together, he entrusted his fingers with his reserved energy and teleported himself not once, not twice but three times in succession, finding himself on the outskirts of the village.

"Am......tooo late........damm.......Am......sorry Dawngrave, it seems I couldn't protect you when you needed it most."

Infront of him laid the burning town of DawnGrave, the fire raged on the rooftops of the many houses, the stone path leading to the destroyed Tori gate was covered in blood with the corpses of the fallen, the Toro stone lanterns were destroyed, Seto somehat had the urge to cry once his eyes came across the Kagura Den, Sessha Shrine and the Honden main hall were already burned down already. This place, this town was the closest thing he had to a home on Terrasphere and now it sat here burning with most of it's people dead or dying in the streets, the constant buildings ablaze and the screams of the terrified. Seto came back to it when he saw a few unknown armored men carry off a few people. He wasn't going to have them die either he thought as he drew his Odachi from it's saya.

  2. There was peace in the forest in the wild areas of this world where its true majesty could be seen with ease. It was shaping out to be a full rest day his quiver was hanging from one of the branches lower on the tree. There was a gentle breeze blowing through however the scent caught him there was something off about the smell. There was a hint of smoke that was clinging onto the breeze, it shouldn’t have been anything to worry about, but there was something off with the smell. Burning wood didn’t smell like that was the smell of flesh and mortar. That was not the smoke of a forest fire but the smoke of a town or village burning, he needed to find out where. So he climbed scaling the tree like it was some great beast that he had to conquer, using its limbs to pull himself higher until he was above the tree line. Looking across a sea of emerald and islands of brown, until he spotted what he was looking for. A greasy trail of black smoke that was making a clear path in the sky a clear X marks the spot, it was south-west from his location. For a second he racked his brains to try and remember what was there. However for right now he couldn’t place what was located in the area, luckily he didn’t need to know what it was for right now.

He just needed to get to the location, so he dived down jumping off the top branch free falling pass a good amount of trees. Reaching out grabbing one of the branches letting the momentum of it carry him into a spin fling himself forward toward the next set of branches slowing down him descent those rouge skill kept paying off each day. Spinning off a branch for one final time before landing hard on the ground sending up a little cloud of dust around his feet. Grabbing his quiver and equipping his long bow before taking a direction. The smoke was coming from a south-west location that would be slightly downhill into the wind. Setting off through the forest landscape at a run he knew the general location but it was still going to be a hassle to get there. Flowing around tree and jump over bushes in his attempt he was about half a mile away when he heard the screams. The sounds of people dying not that burning smell was making sense, so he speeded up where as before he was just taking alight jog It now turned into a sprint. His feet slapping the ground with purpose as he gained ground on the area, he ha made through the tree line when he was it, a village on fire. It seemed as though a ground of raiders had decided to become slavery and was taking the residents of the village to be first stock.

He didn’t slow down there wasn’t time for him to second guess himself, drawing one of his crow feathered arrows from his quiver and aiming it at the chest of the nearest raider. Pulling back to his full-length before letting go. "No more you will take no more."

  3. Where the hell were they taking them? Oh hell there was no time to think! Gritting his teeth angiry, within the moment, he focused his eyes on his sights of the enemy infrot of him he wished to kill. Building his energy up until he was ready, he used the gathered energy within his body to dematerialize his body. Using arcane magic, his body was desconstructed into a beam of energy that ripped through the air at the speed of sound, forcing it's way right on top of the enemy. Rematerializing in the air, Seto gripped the hilt of his Odachi as he drove down his blade vertically on the enemy. Like a warm knife cutting through butter, the Odachi's blade propelled itself into the man's skin, tearing skin and flesh from his body until the crimson liquad known as his blood began overtaking as it ran down from his severed limb and mouth. The man screamed out in agony until he was silenced by horzonital strike done by his own blade. Seto stared down the other two men as their comrade laid dead on the ground decapitated.

    img
    Seto
"You will tell me what I want to know......or else I'll simply cut you down and send you to the waters of oblivion dogs."

Instead of speaking the two surviving men, stood there shaking, quaking in their clothes and boots, slowly taking a step back out of pure horror. Seto's action and demonic like presence made it clear they were terrified out of their minds, far too gone now to be any useful. Seto himself at the moment was a very impatient man, so much so he would wait for these two dogs to speak.

    img
    Seto
    "So be it!"

His dark, deominc words became embedded into the mind of the two men that stood before him in. causing them to act as children, crying, screaming and begging for their lives, something Seto cared little for at the moment, especially with how things were right now. These bastards would attack his hometown, kill majority of the people here and expect mercyin return? Only those who kill should be able to be killed! Not wanting to waste anymore time on these weaklings, slowly he raised his Odachi in the air and waited for a moment, allowing the men to second guess themselves widely before with one last powerful swing, the Odachi's blade shredded the air as it ripped into both of the men diagonally, ignoring their chest plate armor completelely. Theone was outright dead from taking the blade first head on but the other laied their in his blood, his hand reached out for Seto as If he was still pleading for his pitiful life however this man recieved no such trouble. Instead the man screamed out in agony as Seto jammed his Odachi's blade into his back, killing the man almost instantly. Once those three were finally dealth with, he looked back to the handiful villagers that were being handled by the men he had just killed, majority of them looked horrofied or too mentally gone to be any of use, he didn't regonize any of them besides the Mayor? How the hell did he get here? He thought he of all places would be in the great hall, it had to have fallen If he was captured Seto thought to himself.

"Mayor........am sorry I wasn't able to get here any faster.......even with teleportation, it seems I wasn't fast enough. I don't know the situation at hand.......I had sent @Emmeline Valenick my servant to scout ahead of me before I left Dormont Caslte but I don't see her?.........did she die here?.....I know she's a good person, she wouldn't leave people in need.....anyway........I need to know what is happening.......Who is attacking our home? Who is.......killing our people? I won't let this stand! I'll kill every single one of these bastards! Such scum deserve no mercy!........WHERE IS CHRISTINA?.........Don't tell me........she's......."

    img
    Dawngrave's Mayor

The sighed slightly as he kept up the same sad and dissapointed face he had before Seto had even arrived at his home.

"My Duke....I don't know who is the enemy, all I know is they are soldiers.....or they were, why anyone would attack our humble town I do not know, we have never done anything wrong, we only tried to help those in need. Dawngrave was attacked........in the morning........the guard.....and our young and foolishly brave went out to protect our quiet town.........Eventually they did not come back and we were left defenseless. Our buildings pillaged and destroyed, many of us were slaughtered, our women were raped and hauled off to god knows where or were killed, almost half............half of us are gone including........the children..............Christina......was in the main hall the last time I saw her, she was healing the wounded until the enemy.......captured it..........the last thing I remember is hearing her screams........I have failed as mayor my lord......Please my lord........help us protect our town."

    img
    Seto
"You don't even need to ask, I took an oath to protect this town long ago and I will use all my strength to do so. Despite everyone's belief, I may be a Fiend Knight.......I may control the dark arts.....I may kill without remorse.........perhaps I am........a monster and perhaps they are right but I do not act on evil intentions.........I only do what is necessary.........I still have some humanity left in this body and mind........Stay here and watch over those you can find or save, If you come across any of my servants, tell them I order them to aid you in your time of need, I will head to the main hall at once."

Before giving the Mayor to speak, Seto dematerialized his body, disspearing into the darkness of the night. The words he had just said, those words even If no one would ever understand or believe him, he meant them from the bottom of whatever heart he had left at this point, it sicken him greatly he was labled as a evil villain for the sake of things, he may have not unmoral things but he didn't take enjoyment out of doing such things..........well usually anyway. Rematerializing infront of the Hoden main hall, he could the screams agony of those were dying in the streets and ruins or those who were being defiled. One scream seemed to get his attention however coming from the Hoden main Hall, his eyes widened

    img
    Christina
"Nooooo! Get offf me! Eeeeeeeew stooooop! Ppppllleeeeeeaaaseee noooo!.........IT HURTS!"

Hearing that voice, brought up flashbacks of the memories he in Iraq, they were almost too powerful, almost to the point they almost took over. Shaking his head widely back and forth, he wasn't going to allow his past to stop the past from repeating itself again. Wasting no more time, Seto spirinted up the stairs and barged through the main doors of the Hoden main hall, ready for anything.

  4. There were so many dead in the street were full of the corpse bodies were piled on street corners, limb missing with dead eyes it was like a forest of the dead. These were less armored and had no weapon gripped tight in hand civilians, but that didn’t make any sense it would have been more economical to take the village and reason them back to the kingdom. This type of slaughter was necessary and wasteful not to mention cruel this was the work of the beast, not men. These villagers would have vengeance for this travesty that was visited upon them he would see to it. However he needed to move deeper into the village there wasn’t many alive on the edge of town, and from the sounds, it seemed that the majority of the communities who still lived were concentrated in the center region. Making his way towards the center of the town keeping his bow nocked just to be a bit safe as he moved it moved in it seemed as though that was a good idea as just he banked the corner two of the raiders decided that they took a problem that he was alive. So they charged at him swords brandish high in the air, he didn’t have time for this. Pulling the arrow towards him stretching the bow back to its full length the tips of his feathering brush against his face lining up his shot before letting his bow spring back with a snap. Watching his first shot tear through the air drive the arrow through the gut of one of the attackers, quickly drawing the next arrow back and releasing at the first target dropping him with an arrow through the chest. Before ducking under the sword that had come swinging towards his head rolling back upright pulling an arrow from his quiver at the same time. Nocking it back ensure that the bow was at its full draw releasing it as the raider turn around to charge at him again. The arrow caught its mark, however, driving straight through the attackers head its point protruding through his skull.

Jumping back to his feet there and turning his jog into a full sprint there was a place he needed to be, and there was no longer any time to be delayed. So he abandoned the path and instead took to the rooftops, jumping off one of the rails that ran around the banister pulling him up on the tiles. From there he could work with having to stop moving forward, sprinting from roof to roof raining down arrow at everyone the possible looked like a raider. It wasn’t his best shooting, but every arrow hit a target someone, and it gave an innocent time to escape. He moved as quickly as he could sometimes sliding on rooftops to move faster until he reached the square. However, there was a man elderly he seemed to be trying to get survivors out of the village to the safety of the trees. It was a good plan the raider didn’t seem to be interested in capturing or keeping anyone alive they just kill and looted by the Gods did he hope they did nothing else. There was someone a raider sneaking up behind the elder he had to move quickly. Jumping off the rooftop and pulling three arrows from his quiver nocking his longbow back to its full length lining up the shot. Three arrows spilt that rider pinning him to the ground his crest of the House of Kurama had come out from under his shirt in his maneuver landing in front of the elder. “Be at peace I am here to help, now what has happened here?”

“I….I know that crest…. That’s the duke symbol …..If you’re one of his we need help, he told us to tell you to help us please.” Aalam grabs his shoulders then shaking him slightly in his urgency. “The Duke! Is here, where speaking up damn what did he say? Never mind you just told me to listen you must get as many of the town folk here. We could make a barricade and save as many as possible. I will guard the entrances, but you must hurry. Lead them to a place where I can funnel the flow this spot is to open I need a wall to my back.”

Pushing the elder slightly away to get him moving as he took his stand, grabbing a hand full of arrows for his quiver and driving them point first into the ground. He was in the middle of the square and had a good visual on all paths that lead to it. Pulling an arrow from his quiver locking on his first target and letting fly and grabbing the next arrow and repeating the process, again and again, he wouldn’t stop until he was sure that this was over.

  6. The Mayor nearly staggered behind on his back as the mysterious man grabbed firmed of his shoulders, shaking him. All this shaking made it hard for his old mind to think clearly to give the boy the answers he seeked. He didn't doubt the boy's alligence, after all he held the crest of house Kurama at his disposal, something that couldn't be easily copied. Still he was surprised how quickly the Duke's own men were already when the Duke himself had just been with him only moments ago, he wondered how many more of the Duke's servant's would appear? Rubbing his forehead with his right hand in an effort to remove the sweat that irritated his skin, he couldn't believe how quickly the raging fire engaulfed the entire town. All this fire and smoke made it only the more difficult for him and the other few elders still alive to breath but despite that still, he tried his best to speak with the young man infront of him.

    img
    Dawngrave's Mayor
"Yes young lord....cough...cough....Lord Kurama is....cough...present here. He went...cough...to the main hall after...cough....cough...he saved us from these rogues..."

Before he could finish however, Aalam changed his mind, telling him and the others present to start building fortications, He guessed the younger ones present could build, his old frail body couldn't be of any help in the reconstruction but he agreed nevertheless since the chances of them escaping from the ruins of Dawngrave were slim to say at the least. First though before that could even happen, he would need to look for survivors first, albeit he couldn't do it due to his old age, walking was a chore for him in this day and age
    img
    Dawngrave's Mayor
"Yes young lord I understand, I..cough...will try..cough...cough....to gather as many survivors..cough...as possible."

With the clap of his hands joining together, two young men, teenagers really stepped forward infront of the others and soluted the old Elder who stood before them.

"Listen...cough...Listen lads, I need..cough you two carefully search..cough..cough..cough.....Dawngrave for any survivors,...cough...well build a defensive...cough....fortification in the mean time, I'll be counting on...cough....you two alright?..cough...cough....Now get going!..."

Dropping their hands, the two boys ran off into the blazing fire filled ruins of Dawngrave, both going off in different directions to make sure to cover more ground, The Mayor sighed slightly, he really hoped there would be more survivors or else he wasn't sure how Seto would react to the situation was already bad enough the town laid in fire destroyed but If everyone but himself and those with him were also dead, he feared Seto would forever walk down a dark path. Turning around to face the survivors, he lifted his hand

    img
    Dawngrave's Mayor
"While the boys...cough... look for survivors, well build a..cough....cough...a barricade to.....cough......protect ourselves.......cough...come on lets get...cough..cough...started."

With the words of the Dawngrave's mayor, the middle aged people at once began grabbing house materials nearby such as logs, planks of wood, stone etc and started to build the barricade while the Mayor's and the surviving Elder unable to help, took a seat on the ground, the Mayor began caughing heaver as the smoke started to intensified.

    Seto
"YOU DAMM BASTARDS! I'LL SLAUGHTER YOU ALL!"

Roaring at the top of his lungs, Seto's Odachi tore through the air as gravity pulled it down, from the ebony aura that shrouded the blade itself, the energy that Seto had harnessed from his body as well tore itself from the blade, taking the form of his blade's shape, the three magical slashes created from his vile energy soared through the air like a jet fighter, traveling so quickly, the three magical slashes in succession smashed through the unknown invader's bodies, tearing through their fragile, meaty bodies, immediately Seto's attacks ripped through their corpses, splitting them in half or tearing their limbs off, prompting to give them a long, suffering death. Walking over to one who survived, he had initally thought of interrogating the dying man for information but considering his lower half was completely cut off, he would only die sooner but even still, Seto was filled with rage from what he had seen when he entered and he was gonna take his anger out on this bastard!
Picking the man up by his neck, He gritted angrily, spitting at the man's face, as soon as the dying man started to laugh at the Duke, there wasn't any words spoken to Seto, instead his Odachi did the talking to him as he impaled his blade into the man's chest all the way before removing it. With another Grin, Seto threw the dead man's upper corpse across the main hall before walking back to Christina's lifeless corpse. For a few moments, he simply stared at her naked corpse, unable to accept he was too late yet again. Dropping his Odachi, Seto Fell to his knee's, at first he moved his right hand towards her group but hesitated, his body started to slightly vibrate, tears began ranning down his eyes and his cheeks. Eventually somehow, he managed to muster enough willpower and strength to slowly, but gently lift her lifeless corpse into his body, it was only than did his tears and shaking began to intensified even further. He tried closing his eyes to stop the palethic waterworks he displayed but it proves useless.

  7. Well, at least the elder was able to get some of the town’s people to listen even if it was only town boys. They were young, so that was good that meant they would be able to move if his life was any experience young people tend to know all the best shortcut that would be best to avoid getting caught. They were the best choice for the task at hand and hopeful they would be able to find survivors throughout the town they might not be able to save everyone, but at least they would be able to save some. However, right now he needs to make sure that that barricade was coming along without it there would be a slim chance that any of the villagers would make do until the duke was able to return. They had started, but they were slow it was to be expected half of the village was likely dead and the other injured, those facts alone could be enough to kill any moral. He wasn’t gone to be able to bring it back however he wasn’t that type of person, the threat of death was able to keep them working, however, and soon a makeshift barricade was almost constructed. A jumble of doors and benches put together in a way that would offer the basic of protection from most weapons, it blocked off most of the path that leads into the area and most of the civilians were closer to the door of the main hall. The elder had said that the duke had gone into the building if he was in there then it was a good chance that he wouldn't leave any alive, so at least in that direction, the people wouldn’t have to worry about attack. Now he didn’t have to focus on four paths just the one straight in front of him and that he would be able to manage.

“Elder tell your villagers who can walk to grab something sharp if a person gets close to the barricade I want them to just shove the sharp point at them. Do not let anyone set out from behind the barricade as it’s too risky. I will thin the number from right here.”

Nocking back his bow he began to fire arrow after arrow at everything that seemed to be hostile and moving in the direction of the barricades. He had shot down around seventeen raiders when the boys started coming something one at the time something with a person under each arm. It was slow going he made sure that every person those boys brought were cared for and got treatment. These people were essential to his duke so by extension they were vital to him. So far there the boys had brought back around thirty civilians. They would be able to hold until his lord came back from the hall, the villages were not the best fighter, but they could stick a sharp end into someone. However as good as this might be the people the boys were back there numbers were getting small and few. There was going to be a need to wrap this up as quickly as possible, and he needed to make sure that his lord Seto was ok. However as long as the raider kept coming he would hold the line, he could only how that the duke would come back soon.

  8. Some time had gone by but after some hard work and determination, the baricades were on their way to be finished thanks to the cooperation of the villagers working together in harmony despite the situation at hand. With all the door, benches, logs, wooden planks etc, it would make for formidable makeshift defenses once completed. During this time, the old and fragile mayor sat on the ground quietly with the other elders watching the young ones protect them, the old man looked, closing his eyes every time the Duke's servant took a life with his bow and arrows. The grail old man that was the Mayor was startled, nearly falling on his back when the Duke's servant yelled at him to have the townpeople make makeshift weapons to defend themselves from their unknown attackers. Looking around, he didn't even need to say anything to his people, it looked like they were taking his orders rather well, he didn't to give them out aparrently. Was it beacuse this young man carried the burden of serving the Black Duke? Perhaps that demanded respect since the Duke here was considered a local hero in these parts for his contributions to Dawngrave even when he considered himself weak.

It was tad surprising many of the men worked on the nearly finished barricades while the women and the young made the weapons that resembled spears or well any weapons with sharp points, many were pieces of metal or planks of wood with points, they couldn't pierce armor obviously but against the flesh was a different story. Majority of the enemy wore metal breast plates that covered their chests which protected them to an extent to arrows and swords but the rest of their bodies were unprotected, meaning the villagers if they aimed correctly could take down the enemy infront of them. Once they were finished with their creations, the women and young went on the defensive, this frail old men didn't personally approve of this spear formation or whatever this was but he knew there was no other way unfortunately. He would join himself If he could but him being a Knight again? The very thought made the Mayor jest slightly, no it was better to help in other ways.

    img
    Dawngrave's Mayor
    "Young Lord....Cough...I will...leave you...Cough..Cough....in command of...Cough....Cough my people and the...Cough..defenses. I will tend..Cough...to the wounded."

The Mayor covered his head with his hands, kneeling as the young man fired off a dozen or so arrows, in return, a few arrows were returned back towards him and the barricade, some managed to tear past the barricade to where the people were, a few landed near the Mayor and some of the Elders, luckily no one was hit yet. With his hand over his heart, the old man sighed in relief when he begun to see the two young boys he had sent out in the ruins of their once beloved town had come back with a person under their arms. Every time the boys returned with fellow survivors, the Mayor took it upon himself to tend to the survivors wounds, some had simple scratches while others had broken limbs, severe burns and a few even had lost a limb, not all were able to be saved but they have no place to lay them so when the men were finally finished building the barricades, by the Mayor's command, they had to stack the dead in a corner to make room within their defensive perimeter. It wasn't something he wanted to do, no one wanted to do it but they all knew there was nothing they could do about it, even the smell wasn't pleasing with the scent of freshly burnt corpses in the air, such a scent made a few of the villagers sick.

With the young man under the Duke's command, the old man felt somewhat at peace or safe for the moment as he watched this young man do his very best at holding off the enemy advance by himself mostly, the villagers that were capable took to the defense of the barricade's and their fellow villagers behind them, they were few in number but they were determined and proud of their village, they wern't going to allow these bandits or soldiers destroy their home without a fight! It seemed like everything was going well enough for the most part until in the distance, a dozen or more enemy troops arrived on the scene to reinforce their comrades. Compared to the rest who seemed lightly armored and only vaugely organized, these men and women seemed to be far more organized and wore heavier armor led by some Knight Commander in awkward looking plate armor. Though they were far away, anyone could hear the enemy commander giving his orders out loud.

    img
    The Enemy's Knight Commander
"FIND IT! I don't care what it takes, destroy the entire village and all it's inhabits IF need be. We must find the Ebony Duke's Codex at all costs!

With a wave of his sword towards the main hall, the new dozen or more new enemy troops scattered, some took to the roof tops of ruined buildings and began firing their bows off at the barricades, many of the villagers maning the defense managed to take cover behind the countless doors and walls of logs and planks of wood, sparing them from certain doomed however those in the open were not so fortunate. Many of the people who couldn't take cover, couldn't move or were simply couldn't move were cut down by the volley of arrows shot at them. The elders and even the Mayor himself ended up taking arrows to the back of his body. His death was almost panicked, falling to the ground, the red liquad known as blood began coursing out of his body's wounds, within seconds, the old frail man couldn't feel his back or his legs.

    img
    Dawngrave's Mayor
    "Young Lord...I beg of...cough.....you....please...cough...protect our village!.....what...cough....did we do.....cough..cough...cough...to deserve such...cough...a fate?"

In his last moments, the Mayor attempted to reach the young man infront of with his right hand raised but the life force that allowed him live, left his body quicker than he had wanted, refusing to allow him to speak anymore. Like the other elders, the Mayor's body laid on the ground in their own lakes of blood.

    ---

No matter how hard he could try, he couldn't stop the weeping from his closed eyes, clinging to Christina's body, he took all the hatred, all the suffering, death and destruction opon himself, this was his fault, this was his fault everyone laid dead or dying in the streets of his destroyed home, even with all the strength and power he gained, it still wasn't enough to save them. Making a fist with his right hand. he punched the wooden ground as hard as he could out of fustration and for his failure. Seeing the destruction first hand yet again, the inferno fire that raged across the town, the destruction of the entire town of those who once lived here and seeing the dead corpse of Christina caused the memories of his past to surface once again. The rain, the bloodied bodies of his comarades and enemies laying in the street of the highway, the destroyed vehicles, the destroyed houses and skyscrapers, seeing himself stll alive laying against a ruined wall caused him to gripe the sides of his head as his head began to pounder harder and harder every time the flashbacks of his failures became more apparent and clear. WHY? Why must his mind always do this to him? WAS this punishment for failing? It wasn't like he had wanted to live either, he would have been content dying on the front line with his comrades but for reasons he couldn't never understand, fate had decided he wasn't to die, not once, not twice but a handful of times.

In his worst moments, Kurama deep within himself jested out loud and proved unyielding in his laugh, this was just a moment he had been craving for. He couldn't break out due to Seto's physical form but his mental form was different, Ihe could convince Seto to let go, he would be free to do whatever he desired. From the beginning of Seto's mental collapse, Kurama sat in his sealed cage feeding Seto the images of his past life as If he had always been with him from when he was born until now, causing the pain of lost within the Duke to rupture like a volcano. By such a sight, seeing a man on his knee's, his body shaking, and his hands against his head as she spoke words no one person could understand, it would be clear whatever Sanity he clinged to was beginning to fade away. From the memories of seeing the truth about Michiko and the death of her father due to his letter to the demise of his entire unit in Pakistan to Satoya's death, than the sudden destruction of Dawngrave, his home and the memories of watching Kurama destroying, killing and raping many was just too much to bear, such destruction and loss of life was something he could never hope to describe or make sense of. With his eye's pupil nearly gone and his head facing down towards the floor with his bangs covering his face, Seto body became lifeless once more as his hands dropped to the wooden floor of the main hall, his mind blank and his body laying their shaking vaguely, it seemed it looked he was dead from his complete mental break down, leaving him a empty shell which was Kurama had wanted all along.

  9. Laughing hard in victory, Kurama assumed it was time to claim his prize and become a powerful warrior again to do whatever he pleased! He had been waiting for this for months since the last time Seto nearly died, he couldn't wait to destroy and ravage, especially that green haired elf whom he enjoyed the last time deflowering her and scaring away that weakling girl who thought she was all powerful. At the final moment as Kurama started to become comfortable in Seto's empty shell of a mind, a white light overtook him, blinding his vision and sending him back into his dark and lonely cage.

    img
    Kurama

Kurama roared out in anger as he gritted his teeth.
"What witchcraft is this? Impossible who could possibly known the magic necessary to keep me at bay?....Damm."

Out of Anger yet again, Kurama gritted his teeth. Taking a seat on the watery ground, it seemed he would need to bide his time yet again.

Back on the outside world from Seto's internal battle still laid a battered shell of a once powerful warrior with few equals. "I....won't....let you.....win...demon...." The few motor skills he still retained, he used them to turn his head to the faint voice he heard which drew him to Christina. Christina......was alive? he muttered out of his mouth. Using what little energy she had left in her body, Christina firmly grabbed his left arm with her right to pull herself up. Christina took the moment to catch her breaking, taking it easy. When she turned her sight at the Duke and saw his mental state almost non existent from his eyes, she without hesitation slapped him hard.

"Wake up dammit! We need you Seto and I won't let that thing take control of you just because of me. You already nearly died once for me already, am not going to allow it again so wake....THE HELL UP DAMMIT!"

Christina again slapped Seto again, again and again in an effort to wake him up from whatever hellish nightmare he could be in. After a few minutes of getting slapped senselly without remorse, Seto's head shoke violently, closing his eyes as well. Slowly his mind came to it, reactivating like a power plant, the spark that Seto himself turned back on. "VICTORY! WOW!" Despite being hurt physically and mentally and not to mention tired from what happened transpired, she yelled out in joy lke she used. Opon Seeing Seto back in the flesh, she wrapped her arms around and snuggled her head under his chinn. Surprised, Seto tried looking down but couldn't, seeing Christina hugging him. In response, Setofollowed Christina's example, wrapping his arms around her naked body, he hugged her as well and closed his eyes.

    Seto
"Thanks for saving me Christina and I am sorry I didn't get here faster to save you and everyone else in Dawngrave, could you ever forgive me over this? No matter what I do for the greater good wether here or in my world, it seems I bring death and destruction to those I associate with. Dawngrave might have been destroyed tonight but I promise I will rebuild Dawngrave in my land and make things right, I must for everyone's death from your mother's to those who have fallen tonight, It is......least I can do for you and everyone else here who took me in when I had no where to go and was in need of help."

His words were of someone else's, it wasn't Seto speaking for his words were always cold to the touch and calculating.....no instead these words were of a different person, one that was serious yes, like Seto but different. This person's voice was warm as the sun, calm and collected and friendly, it was obviously the voice of Ryosuke, the one who controlled Seto. It seemed to whatever transpired had forced Ryosuke to break his character, breaking Seto and instead during the mist of this entire event, Ryosuke decided to take full control, feeling it was necessary.

  10. They had the walls up it wasn’t the bet barricade that he had ever seen, but it was steady, and it would hold under up fire. This was an excellent village it seems that every in times of distress they were able to work together to get the job done and that moral was able to save lives. Most importantly they could listen when orders were given. As a result, most of them were still alive. The makeshift weapons were keeping the pressure on the side and him. As a result, he could focus on cutting those that stood in front of him down. However, the mayor was looking ill it could have been the stress of the event it was a lot for an old man to bear. They needed to finish this quickly or at least hold them off until the duke arrived. He was still in the main hall dealing with whatever was in there alone, but Aalam might need an extra bit of help out here soon. The bowstring was digging into his palm the skin was sore and red, but it had cut into his flesh as of yet, but he couldn’t keep this up for long.

Looking back to judge how the operation was going, yea he was right this was a good village while the men were working the women were defending the barricade. It was a synergy that was rarely seen even in the real world. If the thing were to continue on that path then where would be a good chance that most of the villagers would make it out. At the same time the elder left to try and tend the wound, Aalam had forgotten to assign someone to look after the wounded. Well, it seemed that he wasn’t on top of thing as well as he would like, he couldn’t afford to forget the wound. The elder was a lifesaver right now. He as even able to get them to stack their dead in one of the corners out of the way. He would get them out of this they were the duke’s people, and he had an obligation to help them. As long as he could keep their spirits up they would be able to hold out by the Gods he hoped they would be able to hold. That hope died when he saw the reinforcements arrive, it was an entire second platoon complete with the enemy commander. They cut down the villagers like wheat to the scythe anyone who was not hard on the barricade was lost to them. It was precise and methodical action it was not the type of activity that was done by raiders. He had seen raider he had killed raiders, but these did function like raiders this was a personal force. It was an attack on the village for the purpose to draw out the duke and to find this Codex whatever it was worth the lives of the entire town. This was a particular kind of madness; even the mayor was struck his body filled with arrows.

Aalam was able to pull him under cover of the barricade, but there wasn’t much he could do light wound he could bandage but this. This was fatal the archer knew what he was shooting at. He tried to get the man to stay still just to try and conserve energy, but there was nothing to be done. Too much of his blood had seeped on to the ground. That man died in his arms it also broke him, and Aalam accept the futility of the situation, but then he remembers what the man was saying and looking around at the face of those that were still alive. Closing the mayor's eyes and he stood up he would honor the man last wishes it was the least he could do. Yell out to the others he needs to keep them fighting “Everyone hard on the barricades we will not let him get what he has come for, do you understand they will fall tonight. They shall not take this place without a fight.” Calling out to the commander, “You will never take this village do you hear me? On the blood, all those that have fallen and by the gods above you will die here.” Muttering under his breath low enough so that only he would hear. 'Hurry sir hurry."

  11. Christina was truely touched by Seto's words but were they the words of Seto? They seemed so different....so lively and warm as well as sincere, it was like Seto was someone else entirely, for a moment she pondered on the thought of Kurama in control but she shook her head on that idea. If that was the case than Kurama would have surely had his way with her by now since that thing was simply a beast with urges. Holding Seto close while she went in for one last, super tight hug before finall releasing him and looking into his eyes or his closed eyes at the moment. "I know you didn't get here in time my lord but your here now and that is all what matters right now, I know you go out there and defend whats left of Dawngrave and my people so there's no need to ask for forgiveness, everyone knows you always come to our aid when we need it most. Now go...waaaagghhh!
Without any warning, Seto picked himself off the ground and by extension, Christina's frail body using his right hand alone while he walked over to his blade.
"Hey what are you doing?"Christina muttered out loud to Seto as she pouted in his arms, Seto in response shrugged at Christina's actions

"Clearly am taking you with me, am not leaving you in such a place. You may be more safer here than outside at the moment but the moment you are found again, I doubt you be given a second chance again."

With a sadden face now, Christina pouted yet again, Seto was back to himself again much to Christina's preference. Back to his Odachi, Seto used his free hand to pick up his blade and slide it back into place in it's resting place before than using both of his hands to hold up Christina. Using his back to open one of the main doors to the main hall, opon walking out revealed a similar hell he was used to. Within the night where the raging fire and smoke took charge in his sights, it seemed nothing had changed, there was still destruction and death widespread across Dawngrave and now there were even more enemies now than there was previously when he had arrived. He gritted his teeth as he breath angirly out of his nose, this wasn't good at all. With this many enemies around, it would prove difficult in the long run to elminate all the enemies in the area without completely destroying what remained of Dawngrave....but he wondered If the town itself was even worth saving? The majority of it was destroyed or was being destroyed in the process by the fire.

In the distance he could see a barricade manned by villagers? He couldn't tell for certain but the appareance of their clothes said otherwise, At this point he figured If there were any survivors they would most likely be at that barricade otherwise any other were left were probably dying, dead or somehow managed to flee Dawngrave when given the chance. With this many enemies up and about, in Dawngrave, it would only be a matter of time before the villagers would be Slaughtered so he would need to work fast, Unforuntely for him and the others present, he knew a spell would surely help him. Holding Christina tightly with his
right hand again, he freed his left hand and began using his left hand as a conduit, gathering all the energy he could from his body in a short time. after he gathered what he could in a minute, he quickly turned what he had harnessed into dark energy and when he was ready, he slammed his magic engulfed hand against the ground.

    "Vugel Bruh!"

Such action caused the ground around him to crack under pressure where his fist had hit. Out from the ground came a dark purple, almost ebony color smoke that took form close to the ground, less than a foot of the ground which soon turned from smoke to a mist as it began to consume the entire area of Dawngrave besides where the barricade was located. Within minutes of unleashing a spell that was essentially an area of an effect spell, in the distance he could hear the moans and screams of the dying before everything going silent once more. He guessed his curse killed many however he was sure there was still many other who were alive, as long as they didn't touch the ground itself, they life force wouldn't be drained quickly, of course he was immune to his own attack and Christina was with him so she couldn't be harmed either unless he left her on the ground. If he did his spell correctly than everyone at that barricade should be fine as well, he needed to make his way there now!

  12. Arrows were flying so many arrows were slamming against the barricade it was almost a continues stream, and there was nothing he could do until he figured out the timing. He had to keep track of all the arrows that were being fired he had seen the archers before they open shot on the villagers. There were about fifteen archers at various locations on the rooftops and at least three on the ground by the commander. He needed to thin the number as long as they were pinned down like this there was going to be a small chance of survival. So he started his count listening to each arrow slam against the wood, fifteen, sixteen, eighteen fire. Nocking back an arrow pulling his longbow back to its full weight and picking a quick target, rolling out of cover to make a shot letting it fly at one of that one who was stationed on the roof. The black shaft streaking through the air sinking into the chest of one of the enemy archers, Aalam spent just enough time to watch it hit before diving back under cover. A fury or arrows were striking the area where he just stood, letting out a gasp as he leaned against the Barricade ducking down as an arrow burst through the wood just above his head. Damn, there was still too much archer he knew that he was able to take down one, but there was still fourteen more. Grabbing a handful of arrows from the quiver and slamming them into the ground.

He had to stop them, and the best way to do that was to target the enemy commander if an army had no leadership, and then they would fall. So glancing out of the corner of his eye he aimed, it was a good thing the blowhard had decided to polish his armor to the point of excess, it was as gloss as a mirror. Muttering a quick prayer to the Gods to be lenient on him if he was to fall in battle, then he moved turning from out of cover and letting his arrow fly then a second and a third. Watching the first two just bounce off his chest the steel plate deflecting most of the force away, however, this third one was luck it hit the bastard right in the shoulder and went through the mail. ”Hmm nice” Then he was shot twice once the arm and another in his side, knocking the wind right out of him and bring him to the ground. Gritting his teeth, he was able to pull himself back to the cover of the barricade; he had to deal with the arrow in his arm the one this would hurt. Breaking off the head of the arrow that had gone through his arm and pulling it out from the shaft, then stealing himself to remove the one from his side. This was a second time that he regretted having the pain settings on realistic, grabbing the shaft with both hands and yanking it out. The pain was intense so much that spot danced in front of his eyes.

Aalam was about to make his peace with the fact that he failed his duke he something started to happen a black mist appeared covering the area that was outside the barricade. From it there was the song of unearthly scream, a little smile made its way across his face it looked like his duke had arrived. Pulling himself to his feet leaning on his bow to stay straight, it would do well to great his lord sitting down.

  13. The sheer number of moans and screams out in the distance pleased him and Kurama, he could hear that little demon in him laughing it up like a good storm. Seto wasn't a blood thirsty warrior like Kurama but he would have been lying If he didn't enjoy watching his enemies die by his own attacks and If they had slow, painful deaths, all the better If you asked him. Seto had been chuckling to himself as he witnessed the mass death for himself until he felt his wrist clinched by something. Looking down showed Christina's right hand gripping his wrist, with the death stare on her face looking at him, Seto decided to stop with his fun. "So that stuff on the ground won't kill me right?" With her inquired tone, Christina asked worried as she stared at Seto's emotionless face.

    img
    Seto
"As long as your with me..well carrying you specifically, you shall not be harmed. To be effected you must on the ground where my dark mist is located. Being a master of my craft, I am able to make the mist asorb the life force of those in the ebony mist quickly so a common soldier or rebel wouldn't last long. Only those who could be immune is a another dark user or a person skilled in similar level to myself with white magic could destroy it."

Seto's words made Christina only clinch Seto's body further, she really didn't want to fall than otherwise she would die surely! She didn't even have clothes!
Seto seemingly didn't mind Christina's actions, after all he did see her as a daughter in some ways, either that or he simply felt obligated to help her since her mother had passed. Still though, he was amazed Sola hadn't came coming to the rescue to Dawngrave since she shared some weird reltionship with Christina although at this point, he doubted there was any relationship between the two now. Just thinking of that impuslive moron made his head hurt far more than he wanted, vilbrating his head, he wiped those thoughts from his mind and continued onwards into the ruins of his hometown.

Despite what had happened to Dawngrave which laid in a sorry state, it didn't take long to move through the wreckage despite the fact many of the house and shops had collapsed into the many corridors that were once called streets. The lifeless bodies of the dead, civilian and soldier alike angered him greatly, it didn't matter If Christina was with him, he was going to kill these damm bastards for doing this. The smell of rotting decay and the sight of the worst possible deaths imanginable accomplied by their pools of blood on the ground and on the walls made Christina closed her eyes, she was no longer the innocent child he met a long time ago but she was still human compared to himself. Finally after a few minutes of endless walking, he found himself infront of the barricades, surpringly the barricade's makeshift spears didn't try to kill him, opon closer inspection, he was astonished this many villagers had survived? How he wondered? Than he saw a similar man....Aalam? When the the bloody hell did he get here? He wondered. Once a few of the survivors manning the barricade's with their makeshift weapons recognized Seto, carefully he handles Christina naked body over a large man whom reminded him of Alonso. As Christina was laid under a door for proection, Seto used his Arcane ability to teleport over the barricade than try to climb over it before calling for Aalam to come to him

    img
    Seto
"Aalam I need a stasis report ASAP! And come here, I will infuse your bow with my dark magic, it should make them cursed arrows. Unforunetely were gonna have to do this the old fashion way, my energy reserves are low are having to use half of my total energy and some of my own life force to get here quickly.

No matter what though, I will not abandon my post here, I won't abandon these people to their fate......Not again......Even If I must fall in battle to do so, so be it!"

Once Aalam came over If he did, Seto would put his right hand on Aalam's shoulder, Seto would gather what spare energy he could from his body, it wasn't much considering he had already used most of it. It was obvious from his exhaustion of his breath and the sweat coming from his forehead that he wouldn't be able to continue for much longer but he didn't care right now, he refused to fail at something like this, especially since this scene was similar Ryosuke's own memories of the past. Turning what he could get into dark energy, he infused the gathered dark energy around his ranger into the form of a clock and his bow.

    img
    Seto
"There.....I've given you what I can, that ebony cloak will protect you from my mist........for a time, considering I have less than 30% of my total energy, I do not know how long it will last nor for your bow but at least every arrow you fire will cause a decent amount of sap damage, you don't need to inflict a mortal wound, a flesh would should be sufficent.

Now go and do what must be done my Ranger, I shall stay here and defend this place with my very life, I shall give the offense to you. I must conserve the energy I have left so I won't be able to go on the offensive without extensive rest first."

  14. His side was still hurting his body in the game healed much faster than he would have in the real world but it always took some time. Especially since he pulled that arrow right out of his side, there was no way that the wound was going to close as quickly. It was going to take some time, but at least he wasn’t bleeding too heavily that would have been terrible. His leg was still shaky however putting pressure directly on it right after extracting the arrow that was to be expected. He always had to keep a look out at the entrance until the Duke arrived he could allow his watch to let up. Resting some of his weight on his longbow using it as kind of staff to take a bit of pressure off his leg, it was a bit of relief, but he would need that health regain to hurry up. He was about to call it when he says something was moving through the mist whatever it was it was solid. For a few second he through it might be the enemy commander that somehow he had gotten through the mist and was still going to press the attack. Shifting his weight to the other leg and picking up his bow he needed to be ready in case it was something. However, it wasn’t the commander but his lord the duke. And he was carrying someone his arms it looked like someone who needed help. Calling out to one of the villages but there seemed to be no need the recognized the duke long before he did and they seemed to even know the person he rescued.

Aalam was shocked when the man disappears and then reappeared on his side of the barricade well it seemed that the duke had more powers than he knew. Making his way over to the man his leg was fully healed by now and his side was almost entirely closed up. He might not have been able to double he we could still walk smartly, throwing his bow over his back, as he made his way over. He wanted a stasis report, and Aalam could give him one. “We lost almost half the village the mayor as was killed in the final attacked before you arrived. Most are wounded, but there are people going around giving basic medical attention, it should be able to keep them alive. All paths expect this one is blocked and manned after your last assault the villagers should be able to hold it. You, Sir, will only have to worry about the opening in front of you. Sir, they were looking for something they called the Codex they were willing to raze the village to find it. Whatever it is they wanted it bad sir.” It seems the duke had a plan and passing over his bow while the man rested a hand on his shoulder.

As he felt contact he felt cold it was like being wrapped in a blanket of mist and shadow. He could see that it cost his duke much to do whatever he did, but it seemed to work, he had to help however the man was barely able to keep his feet. He felt so cold he was surprised that he couldn’t see his breath. The cold crept up his arm and coiled around his bow it seemed to taint the wood a darker shade. The arrows in his quiver seemed to glow to his eyes, well this was going to be fun pain back always was. However, that was not an excuse to forget his training stilling his breathing and by extension his heart rate and letting his presence become no more than a shadow in the background. Giving a bow to the duke them heading out to the mist there might still be enemies alive out there and that had to be corrected. Passing half-decayed bodies as he went yes the duke power was terrifying. There were a few stragglers. However, men and women gasping for breath as they drowned in the mist; he put those out of their misery quickly. However, there was one man he was looking for one person that he had to make sure that he was dead and he found that man ten minutes later. Leaning against a post half of his leg rotten away, that kill he did not make quick. The first arrow took his remaining leg then through both of his arms, then five on his chest and three through his head. He owned the commander that much for all he had done, only once Aalam was sure that he was dead did he continue his search for any others.

  15. The Codex? Shiiiiiiit....he cursed under his breath......In the split second afterwards he froze in place, he was astonished someone knew about his Codex but how? Only he knew of it's existence and where it was located. There was a time when 'Others" knew of it and it's location but that was a time far long ago and everyone who knew of it and it's location were dead now, the only one who could still be possibly alive is that cursed witch but why? Why would she want it of all people? Merkaba was even more powerful than him in the dark arts, he could kill her of course since he was more skilled than her in general but still, It didn't make any sense. His Codex was the foundation of the work she tought him when she still controlled him, it was rather basic compared to her true teachings so why would she want his work? The only conclsion he could think of was his Dark Ancesion technique but she wasn't a warrior! She didn't have the body to withstand such physical pressure on one's power despite how poperful she was. The constant thinking his mind went through trying to figure out what Aalam said started to give him a headache.

Why was he thinking so much about some old book he wrote some time ago when half of Dawngrave and her people laid dead infront of him? It was relief at the least that half of the villagers had survived even If it was unforunete that the Mayor had perished in the battle, his sacrifice wouldn't be in pain. Of course the enemy wasn't going to make this easy on them, they had the clear advantage in this battle, having blocked of all the paths despite the ground being cursed by his power. They on the other hand were sorrunded with a large group of people to defend and he was low on energy. He gritted his teeth out of fustration as he punched the ground, If only he had more energy he could smash right through the line but no, of course not right now he only had enough energy for a handiful of magical attacks and If it came down to it, he would take them down with him with his Final Destination technique. He smirked after that thought, it seemed perhaps he would get the chance to die tonight.

"There isn't enought time to explain Aalam. The short story is that before I became I Duke of Astorea, I wrote magical tome that housed all my magical abilities. It's safe to assume you could learn my spells If you dont' end up destroying yourself from mistakes first. The only person who know of it's exiestence is my Mentor and Master and she's dead."

After he buffed Aalam, it was obvious he was exhausted from what transpired, Aalam noticed this right away, paying close attention to detail as he usually did, going to his aid and helping him stay on his feet afterwards, He nodded at his Ranger when he was alright to stand on his own. By Aalam's facial expersion, it was clear though he wasn't used to the feeling of dark enery around his body, he chuckled a little at the sight, it would take some time before anyone would get used to it's power, Seto wasn't an exception by any means, of course when he learned it for the first time, the witch made it......painful for him since he swore she got off torturing people. He was a little puzzled when Aalam gave him a bow but he decided not to say anything before he ran off into the misty ruins of Dawngrave. not being skilled in the art of archery, such a weapon would prove useless to him unforuntely. Drawing his Odachi with both of his hands out from his Saya, he prepared himself as he contiuned to hear the moaning and screams of the dying........The song of the dead.....was a familiar one to him, it seemed to travel with him no matter where he went wether in Terrasphere or in the real world.
