  3. As he expected, there were bound to have dangers along the way. His first reaction was to hold on to the wagon as he felt a small tremor. Unfortunately, what he didn't expect was the falling rocks as a result of it. Thankfully, it only chipped off little of his HP, but just seeing the others' didn't relieve for one moment. Although at the same time, he did saw some of them doing everything to stop the wagon from falling. He even saw @Lucia Mierz summoning Mortimer and her wraiths to remove the rocks.

When @Solaria asked him to heal @Morna, he turned his attention to her as he continued to hold on. "It might be easier said than done. Unfortunately, my healing methods aren't of magic variety, so those rocks might have a chance of breaking some of them if I do. I'm afraid I have to heal her after we get out of this mess."

He wasn't exaggerating as due to her attempts to stabilize the wagon and calming the horses, the wagon's shaking may have a chance for him to lose some of the healing potions that he made. But thinking quickly, he cast Breeze Shroud so the wagon will speed up so they can get out of the danger zone.

    The Gilded Pass

The tremors fade with a few final clouds of dust knocked from the cliffs and stray pebbles clattering to a stop. The air around your group hangs heavy with silence as if the life of the mountains has hunkered down in fear it will start once more. It doesn't.

Slowly the horses settle, able to sense the seismic activity fading, and fall in line once more. One of the geldings jerks his head pointedly to snatch at the reins being fought over by both Solaria and Vivian while his companion lowers his own to lip at Morna's hair. It seems the beast of burden might be apologizing. Or think her hair looks tasty. It's hard to tell. The cart has taken a bit of a beating from the falling rocks, but with two tanks shouldering hits and the speed of your group the wagon has faired well enough.

Without the dangers of the rockfall, your group is free to continue up the sloping pathway of the ancient pass and higher into the mountains. The peaks still tower above you, but you are more than halfway there. The verdant plantlife from the valley has lessened some here and the only green to see clings to the banks of a thin creek running alongside the worn way. The waters still glitter unnaturally in the lowlight, but make for an enchanting sight all the same. Soon enough you crest the top of the slope and get a clear view into the gap before you. The source of the bright flecks in the water and the name of the passage is made clear.

A great statue stands half consumed by the cliffside of the canyon and in the dying sunlight you can see the swathes of it that were once leafed in gold. Scattered patches and spots remain, but the water trickling down the lines of it wash more and more away. Time has not been kind to the strange being pictured. Its proportions are unlike those of Humans, Elves, and Felis. Though the proportions are smaller, not ever Faerin seems to be the right fit. A relic of times gone by, truly. The note from your scout indicates the open area in front of the titan as the predetermined campsite. There is still light should you choose to busy yourselves while you wait for nightfall.

  7. Though they'd found a place to set up camp at least, Solaria didn't have many skills in this kind of situation that could help. Curiously, since the horses were still in a bit of a tizzy, the girl opted to take out one of her salves, seeing one had some injuries itself. Whispering the best she could, she tended to that horse's ankle, sighing. It was bruised and battered, but it'd be okay...If they could even use the wagon before daybreak, with the way the wheels were.

"It's times like these I almost regret that I didn't take wood-shop... You'd think with dad's work in construction I'd know how to fix a wagon. At least I can relax the horses... And then maybe I'll rest, too..."

  10. Seemingly as quickly as he offered to help the girl down, all the horses sped into a frenzy. Kijin struggled against the increase in speed and managed to get both feet onto the side of the carriage, but only just.

His red gaze snapped to the girl who had spurred the horses into a gallop, silently thankful that Solaria made the snap decision to take over handling the beasts and assuring that the man for dear life would not die.

    At least, not just yet

She called out commands for Verity to take her place, but even her plans were erratic and he slowly began to realize. Their "team" was anything but. No would worked together. There was no unit cohesion.

Under normal circumstances, the swordsman would have jumped at the opportunity to survey the area and gain new information, especially given their plight and unhelpful scout.

At the moment, though, he felt the need to be cautious, keep eyes on the camp, and to regain some of his lost stamina

  13. Lucia couldn't help chuckling at the sight of everyone at work, this was the reason she'd experienced such adversity in her first raid. That said though, it wasn't as bad as the raid, at least she hadn't been brought down to critical condition in a flash with first contact. This lack of cohesion wasn't unusual among the player base at least, a unified front was simply impossible with so many people acting in self interest. It was for this reason she'd ended up having to turn to Synra for the darker powers of Necromancy, to be able to do everything herself if the need arose. "Mortimer, glance around the surroundings, take half of the winter's claw to look around. Hopefully we can make some preparations." She instructed causing the undead phantom to turn his gaze towards the surroundings.

"Understood." His reply was simple, the few wraiths that she'd summoned to support the group began fanning out to scout while Lucia spent her time curiously digging into the towering golden statue with a perplexed expression curious about it's purpose.

  16. Man that had to hurt. First getting kicked by a horse, and then getting your spine smashed with a rock. Morna was not sure what part of her body to cradle to try and attempt to keep the pain away. Seeing as she was a Berserker, she had no pain blockers on, and was very tempted to use them just for this moment. Shaking her head a little. The breathing of the horse upon her hair as an apology, or just because the horse may be hungry. She stood up with a groan of pain.

It seemed that the most was over in a few moments. Which was good. The problem is that everyone seemed to be fine, while Morna, was the one who took the most damage. Lets just say she was not happy with herself and the fact that she had made a rather rude comment, and knew that her allies may not want to heal her for now.

Leading the horses the rest of the way up, and making it to the campsite, She let the reins for the horses fall to the ground with the carriage stopping. While others may be mending the cart, or exploring the area, Morna set up to do something else.

Make a fire for food, or otherwise just a general place to be at. Clearing the little spot of any dry materials, and gathering some stones to make a circle was easy. Considering they just had an avalanche. It hurt a bit to put strain on her back to pick them up, but with a little effort, she made the circle. Looking through her menu for a second, she produced a flint and steel. Sliding them together once to check that it worked, and then set upon starting said fire. Taking a few moments to gather the kindle, and trying to spark it a few times, on about the fifth or sixth try she got it done.

Sitting directly in front of the fire, there wasn't enough of the flames nor burning of materials yet to make any warmth. Adjusting the setup of the wood, and blowing into an "vent" produced more fuel for the flame. Getting to a small height, Morna adjusted the wood once more to make sure that the fire slowly burned, and would conserve the wood. Otherwise, she scooted back a foot or two, then laid on her back. She almost plopped down, but stopped about half way realizing her back was still hurt. Slowly laying down, she groaned a little as she wasn't in as much pain any longer.

Noticing that Kigin had also decided to rest, and seemed to do nothing but watch the campsite. Sighed, and stretched a little to once more, release the pain.

  19. The event had died down only to leave behind an unsettling calm in the wind. Only a few pebbles could be heard scattering down as the rocky avalanche had come to a halt. Vivian had let go of the reigns when it was jerked from her hands, "Looks like you beasts won't have to worry about rot in your bellies this time." The woman lifted her hand and flicked the royal purple hair off her shoulder and jumped off to solid ground.

Her cold eyes looked around as she inhaled deeply, her chest rising and falling in one liquid motion as she placed both hands on her hips to take a look at their surroundings. Some of the team had stopped to rest and recover but Vivian had much on her mind especially that of the statue that a certain other female was now looking into. Vivian's one exposed eyes glimmered with interest as her red lips peeled into a small smile. A bubbly laugh erupted from the woman as she moved towards the inspected statue. She tilted her head and smiled at @Lucia Mierz, "Good luck with that, Honey." The female malefimancer made the comment as she passed by, her interest lied in the creek water.

Something about the glimmer from earlier had drawn her attention to it now. Water was said to be a host of uncertain things, mostly life essence. She knelt down and scooped her hand seamlessly through the babbling creek. She lifted her hand when she got a good scoop and let it roll off her and spilled into her other open hand. A low chanting could be heard from her lips as the wind around her grew abysmally before she stopped before provoking too much of the unknown. But then again...what fun was that if not to provoke uncertainties?

  22. Well, he had to admit. That was an eventful way to start their mission. Though he did expect that there are dangers along the way. Eventually, they managed to make it through the tremors and falling rocks as he got off from the wagon. So far, other than a few bruises and the loss of some of their HP, they made it in one piece.

As most of them are either resting, repairing, and exploring, Verity decided to do the latter in an attempt to see any kind of dangers his group will be facing. It wasn't much, but it was better than doing nothing. Besides, with the previous dangers they faced to make it here, he knew he needed to lay down the land to know what they are up against.

  25. For now it seemed the worst was behind them. Everyone still seemed to be in good health, despite not exactly working together to get up the mountain alive. Even now in the safety of their makeshift campsite his teammates each decided to go their separate ways before it was time to settle in for the evening. There wasn't much he could do about that though.

Glancing around at each person in turn he took note of their actions. Solaria was tending to the cart while Morna and Kijin decided to start setting up camp. Lucia, Vivian, and Verity all wandered off in different directions, leaving the swordsman with his own thoughts as they did.

“...I guess I'll go look around too.” He mumbled while heading away from the group. Lucia and Vivian had already started investigating the two places of interest at the camp itself, but maybe there was something nearby that would be useful for the rest of their trip. He'd try his best to explore, but the nagging feelings of worry toward their mission wasn't making it easy to say the least. Hopefully the other groups weren't having as tough of a time with their tasks.

  26. Cycle 6-D: (Blue) The Pass

The sunlight fades away as the camp is made and tended. The horses settle in well enough with enough greenery to eat and the stream nearby to drink from. While @Solaria's efforts seemed to accomplish little, the care did not go unappreciated by the animals. Camp itself was quickly thrown together with Mona's efforts to stoke the flames that would offer warmth, comfort, and an easy meal to the rest of the team once night fell. Kijin kept watch, though nothing in their little valley seemed content to move. All was quiet here, almost oddly so, but what animals would live so high up willingly? @Morna and @Kijin Shihaku both recover +10 EN and +5 HP.

Neither @Verity nor @Alric Stalwart would find anything of use. Their eyes skimmed over the topography of the landscape and found little of importance. @Lucia Mierz's summons would find a similar lack of subjects to report on, though Mortimer would notice a peculiar, faded script on the statue. Of all the scouring eyes only @Vivian Cruz would notice something more. While her magic did nothing but tug on her energy reserves, hunkering down so close to the water's edge revealed an odd formation in the shadow of one of the giant's legs. The shadows were far deeper around its calf and heel half-devoured by the mountain. However, night fell quick and forced all the scattered bodies of their dysfunctional team "home."

A watch shift was quickly arranged and all settled in for what would hopefully be a good night's sleep. Sadly, fate fucking hates each and every one of you.

With Kijin nodding off after a prolonged watch at the edges of the campsite, Vivian woke for her own. Her intentions were far less set on watching their backs and more for getting Lucia's back bare of her nightgown. As she snuck back across camp from the necromancer's tent to wake Solaria for her shift, she was nearly toppled by an unexpected tremor. Sharp, icy eyes scanned the darkness around them and spotted something far different than her earlier tentative explorations. A line a rubble. A line of faintly shifting rubble emitting an awful high-pitched noise akin to an awful club song with sampling from a household blender. Vivian had exactly enough time to say "Well, whatever it is, it's not my fault." before two broad-shouldered beings hauled themselves from the shadows.

You all recover +5 EN and +5 HP before your rest is interrupted.

    Greater Earth Elemental
    〈 350 / 350 HP 〉

    Lesser Earth Elemental
    〈 250 / 250 HP 〉

Two elementals, one far larger than the other, emerge from the earth and move in on the bright ring of light cast by Morna's campfire. A fire with lesser care would likely have burned out far earlier, but the coals were still strong enough to show the entirety of the elementals now raising their fists in unison to slam forward. Vivian, awake and aware, has no trouble making a dainty jump over the two rings of disrupted rubble that rippled across the ground from the impact. Her sleeping teammates, unaware of the danger but maybe subconsciously aware that it's certainly not Vivian's fault, wake to being washed over by a wave of sharpened stones.

Even in the dim lighting, it is clear that both are well armored by nature, bodies made of great slabs of stone sliding together. The smaller of the two almost appears to be a singular piece of stone beside the faint lines of where parts must be meeting to allow for movement. The larger, however, is an ever-shifting body of boulders and sharpened shards grinding away against one another.

  30. "What in the world?!"

That was his first words as he got up in shock after he felt the tremor around him. Just the shock of it was enough for him to have his fully healed HP chipped off once more. He already felt the tremor before, so why another one? Running out of his tent in shock, he quickly saw the towering elementals right in front of him and the rest of the party. And judging by their nature, he doubted they would pass them by very peacefully.

Though just the sight of the rocks covered their body was enough to make him hesitate. He doubted that his sword will put a dent in them and his Aeromancy thunder-based spells might not able to drill them through, he knew he needed to put up some precautions. "Everyone, hold on! We can't defeat those behemoths with our weapons alone!" He then took out a bottle of smoke from his inventory and aimed it on the ground. "Get ready and make sure all of you breathe it in! It will increase your strength enough to break through their skin."

With that, he threw the bottle down to break it, causing red smoke to release throughout the camp. As he breathed in the smoke, he drew out his sword and prepared himself to fight.

  33. A shiver, creak, and finally a moan.

Kijin snapped both eyes open when the wicked dream ended abruptly, and all the baleful, lusty sounds were perverted into sinister reality. A mighty upheaval tore earth and rock asunder in the middle of their encampment, and the resulting damage split their already ragtag group even further apart.

He was on his feet as the shaky around beneath them gave, and his body slid ever downward toward the beast below. It thrashed and pounded the dirt around it like a child berated, unable to cease its senseless tantrum. The world suffered for its selfishness.

@Verity called out just as the Bloodsworn unsheathed his blade, and the strange amplifier augmented his movements beyond the norm.

He threw himself downward to engage the largest elemental on the sundered ground below, blade first.

The Katana bit into rock and gave a shriek of protest, but managed to bite deep nonetheless. Shrapnel ricocheted off the elemental and splattered back toward the swordsman, but he grunted and bore the damage as best he could.

When he landed, he held his blade at the ready, intent on keeping this beast focused on him.

  36. Moving with the quickness of a cat, Vivian had jumped left and right to avoid the oncoming damage of the Elementals. Her eyes narrowed as she squinted in the darkness, darkness all around her as she shifted her body and placed her hand on the hilt of her sword. "Looks like I won't be enjoying the rest of tonight!" She was about to unsheathe her weapon when had watched Genji rip through the bigger Elemental with his slashing weapon. When his attack struck, the blow shattered pieces of itself towards him causing damage.

Vivian blinked and slid her naked blade back into its sheath, "Not going after that one." She said as a matter of factly. Taking a small leap backwards, her eyes fell on the ground that seemed to have been exposed to a chemical property. Verity had used some kind of potion thing to induce a buff on the team. She could feel her magical powers becoming empowered as she inhaled the fog around her, "That's one way to get high. I am sure you are a Beast at house parties!" The woman stood up and spread her legs out, her shining armor dancing from the moonlight as her arms stretched out. A circle beneath her feet began to glow as she prepared a spell.

Wind shifted as her hair uplifted from the magical draft. Her eyes glowing in a veil of darkness as she looked at her target. As the circle below her feet pulsated with power, fragments of rock and debris lifted off the ground and levitated as her purple hair whipped around her face and body. A small smidgen of ooze began to form at the base of her lips as she attempted to summon such uncontrollable power. "Trial and error..." she said to herself. Feeling her body pulsating with power, the female Malefimancer thrust her arms out and circled them in opposite directions.

The Lesser Elemental was attacked by an unseen force, being pulled and pushed side by side as a ghostly visage of itself began to peel away from its stony body. It was not human, but it still had life energy within it and she would snuff it out the best that she could. With her eyes narrowed, she would let her magic weave into the core of its body to stiffen its limbs and corrode its exterior till one of the arms nearly broke off from the eroding Elemental.

  39. In just an instant the world seemed to go to shit. Again. He was starting to think that peace was just a foreign concept on this world; at least in places that were away from the major cities anyway. His slumber would be cut short as the floor in Alric’s tent began to shake like the mountain had earlier that day. In a state of panic he shuffled over to his equipment and hurriedly tried to put it on, just barely getting the last piece fitted as the ground began to split. Sharp chunks of stone shot upwards, cutting the swordsman's body as he fled the scene. He would just have to grit his teeth through the pain for now.

    ---

Outside didn't look much better. Two enormous creatures had invaded their camp and by the look of things Kijin and Vivian we're already engaging them. A red colored gas had enveloped a good portion of the camp but he wasn't sure what to make of it for now. With all the commotion he might have heard Verity mention something about breathing the stuff in and seeing as how no one dropped dead from poisoning yet there probably wouldn't have been much harm in giving it a try.

Passing through the buff cloud, he made a dash for the lesser elemental with the shield raised to cover his torso as he closed the distance between them. Fighting in such close proximity to the monster was risky, but there was no way around it; he’d just have to be careful not to get caught in the witch’s spell as well because now was his chance!

Using what strength he could climbed a nearby boulder that had been raised in the tremor and jumped off it toward the elemental’s chest, scrunching his body up behind the shield as he soared toward the creature. The impact wasn’t very hard and he felt like it barely dented the thing’s body. He tried to cushion the fall with his shield and with some success was able to roll away with suffering any heavy injuries. At least they were making some progress; Kijin would just have to hang on for a while until they could spare any attention to the greater threat.

    (6 + 5 + 7) x 2 = 36
    Lesser Elemental: 104/250
Tracker / Roll (AoE Damage) / Roll (Attack)
