  3. Having finally tried to sleep, she was startled awake by shaking- and, unfortunately, it was not because she'd been snapped out of the virtual reality by a nosy roommate. She knew she hadn't much to do that day offline, which made it a great day for a quest. Apparently, it was also a great day to be attacked, though.

"Ugh...So much for trying to rest for a change."

She didn't get much energy back, but she had enough to take on a wimp- and with two monsters, taking out the runt was usually a good way to go. Smiling at @Verity with a word of thanks for the buff, she stumbled from the tremors, distracted by them enough to hinder her attack- which was simply a strike of her sword that barely managed to damage it.

"Apparently, an exquisite sword doesn't mean it'll stop anything..." Groaning, she looked towards the remainder of the group. Kijin had already attacked the giant, but Alric and Vivian seemed to be in her mindset enough to start killing the minion off. Who hadn't attacked yet? @Morna and @Lucia Mierz? "Morna! Lucia! If we take down the small fry first, we should be able to focus on the big one better. I doubt it's just one of them making the mess...They're tough, but we should be able to beat 'em!"

  6. Lucia didn't find anything particular until Mortimer pointed something out, the Phantom brushed a hand along the scripts with a musing expression as it began to explain portions of it's suspicions about them. Lucia couldn't begin to understand a foreign or lost language, instead deciding it best to simply retrieve this knowledge for future investigation. With a gesture, she collected the Wraiths together under Mortimer's guidance to imprint the scripts onto parchment using fine powders, a technique the assassins and saboteurs of the Winter's Claw were familiar with.

The tremors only made her brows knit though, a deep frown coming onto her face as the familiar shaking returned. The stones once more battered her, though more critically then earlier, she licked the red staining the corner of her lips and quelled the ache of her body with a clench of her fists as she shouted over the chaos. "Fine... Mortimer, Drag that little one down for me." She shouted causing the Phantoms of the Winter's claw to suddenly twitch in the Elemental's direction. Immediately there was movement, the wraiths all began flickering in chaotic groups one by one disappearing and reappearing as they crossed the distance. Some began pulling wooden cases off of their backs and arranging contents accordingly while others began to swing their arms violently loosing a myriad of loose flexible weapons. Ranging from chained blades to rope darts and Kusarigama. The flashy display though wasn't meant to do damage as much as it was restrain the creature though.

Anchored down by the chains, whether or not the wraiths were powerful enough to keep it down for long, they only needed a second. Pulling the restraints taunt, Mortimer took on the role of flashing towards the creature's back to mount one of the wooden boxes to the creature with a twisting thrust. The Gentleman assassin tried to give the box one test jerk before disappearing in a puff of smoke just as the box burst open, a flash of light and sound as the Wraiths coordinated to finish off the crumbling Elemental with a series of small explosions thanks to the scars left behind by the other attackers.

  9. After the sun had gone down, Morna was not the first, nor the last to take over. At the very least she was trying her best to fall asleep. It was only when she was finally able to get some rest, to recuperate some of her health over time, that she was interrupted by loud banging. Trying to get up, she couldn't quite get out of the blast. Not in the center, nor on the very ledge.

She was buffed back and barely got up to see that all the others around her were already attacking and buffing one another. By the time that Morna had drawn her sword, the others had already taken out the smaller elemental. Morna shook her head as she was buffed to attack damage. Considering she had crappy gear, and everyone else was making massive damage on the little one, Morna raced after Kijin and his attempt to attack the larger one. Drawing agro towards Kijin. Considering he was a DPS/Tank, She would try to let him keep the damage going towards him, and not herself.

Morna came forward and attempted to slice at the creature. Yet at that moment, rocks broke off and smacked her in the face. She avoided all of them, and likely was only able to because the rocks that broke off were all very small. Causing massive damage would mean a massive amount of rocks to break off.

Slashing and piercing damage wouldn't work well against this creature. At best, Morna was keeping constant damage, and was only attempting to keep the beast between the both of Kijin, and herself, instead of her healer allies.

    Lesser Earth Elemental
    〈 DEFEATED 〉

The combined powers of the dysfunctional team align to lay low the Lesser Elemental, the thick arms of the behemoth sweeping out in vain to strike down its foes. Unfortunately, it faced too great an enemy in their superior numbers. Lucia's summons, bade to unlife by her Necronomicon, manage to ensnare it in range of an explosive trap after having been weakened by the scattered group's assault. Smooth stone is blasted apart and the exposed core of the elemental shatters like glass from the concussive force.

At its side, the Greater Elemental rears back to roar in a voice loud enough to nearly deafen the party. Each word is incomprehensible, obviously foreign like Azog's own speech, but undeniable. It refuses to go unheard and in that moment it is as if the earth itself holds its breath to listen.

"THUU VAUM DA'ETT KU MORNE. HARSCH HUUR KAL'E'HUTT. YOOR SCHKEIR."

It throws its arms to the side, the rest of its body following suit to bring it hunched over its fallen companion. A shrill grinding sound accompanies the unhinging of its cobbled-together jaw as the Greater Elemental swallows whole the broken core, large hunks of stone rotating within to bring it to meet its own heart. There is a pause as it freezes, only the dust drifting around it like a sheer veil, before the fallen rock of the Lesser Elemental rises to slot in perfectly with its own. The Greater Elemental has cannibalized the Lesser Elemental and grown in size!

It stands. Bigger. Badder. And a whole lot madder. It shifts its weight off of one leg and holds the position as if readying itself, the glowing rocky joints of the limb catching on one another in what would surely be agony had it any nerves. The extra weight appears to have slowed it down in exchange for more protection.

  13. That takes care of the lesser elemental. However, he noticed that the more they attacked it, the more rocks from its body are released to the attacking members in the process. At least buffing them was a good idea from the start because he would have risked a hopeless attack with his sword or his Aeromancy spell. Though at this point, he not only have a few more buffing smoke in his belt, he felt his energy began to drain out of him.

Regardless, he quickly dodged at whatever attack will the elemental give him as he tossed another bottle, releasing another red smoke to buff the others once more. Now the only problem he needed to worry about was his own energy and the elemental's next move.

  16. Massive chunks of living rock fell away as Kijin lashed out again, albeit in a similarly ineffectual manner. His chosen weapon seemed to deal insignificant damage to this foe. Unfortunate though that was, dealing any damage was significant enough to keep the thing attentive, and he had already garnered a great deal of enmity from the creature.

Of course, as it hideously consumed the flesh of its fallen friend, the creature seemed to grow in both enormity and relative danger.

"Alright," Kijin growled as he hefted his blade into a blocking position, he took a deep breath and called out to the group. "Support, prioritize healing and bring the group back out of the danger zone," he called out. At this point, whether the command came from him or anyone else, cohesion would be the key to their survival.

"Everyone else, focus on the legs. If we can limit it's mobility, we can find weak points and avoid heavy damage. I'll keep my attacks to the core so that the boss will harass me and damage to the rest of you will be limited-"

His gaze turned pleadingly to @Solaria as he spoke his next words. "-so please, watch my health. I'm trusting you with this."

Kijin raced forward as he finished his sentence and thrust his blade forward, prompting another hail of rock to pelt him as he carved it free. The swordsman grit his teeth and endured, despite his realistic pain settings.

  20. Vivian had to take a step back and watch the events unfold with her own meticulously locked eyes. The ground had shook with fervor as the massive Earth Elemental seemed to evolve as it 'ate' the core of the other. Just as things had been swinging in their favor, this new massive Rock Creature was now growing in stature and ferocity. It bellowed out words that none of the aforementioned party understood.

"I think it just called me cute." The female said making a joke of the situation. Of course this was not to be taken lightly at all. Despite their iron hand, the party was growing weary from battle. Health depleted, energy reserves were going to the pits. Even the female malefimancer had a bead of sweat rolling down her cheek. Things however, could get a lot worse, but they were not. Despite the shift in momentum, they were still on even footing.

Swinging her arms around, the female began to weave into a new spell. Her lips parted and her eyes began to sizzle with energy and power. Long range attack at best she could, she would not go anywhere near that thing with the lack of proper gear and equipment. Her eyes turned a hazy purple as her fingers moved in the wind as it uplifted her hair once more. Beneath her feet was the glowing spell circle in which she stood as her spell began to formulate. Vivian's eyes locked onto the bumbling nature of the Rock Clan Mammoth. It was slow so she would go right for the feet as the handsome Samurai boy suggested.

A curse in place to make the beast fumble about as it tried to make its way towards the group. But despite her long distance attack, the earth around her feet seemed to come alive and jut out to attack her. Her body armor was pelted by several sharp stones battering the woman as she continued the chant to curse the movement of the foe. It was up to the others now to attack. She'd do her best in this situation...

  23. Hearing Kijin's plea and request for support, she realized she was the only one acting as support besides Verity- who, at the moment, was taking great care in keeping all attacks buffed up, including her own. If she was going to heal, she'd have to let go of the buff she'd just received.

Turning to @Verity, she smiled and called out, "You keep them buffed up and I'll keep their health from getting too low. Focus your attention on the fighters for now. Once we know everyone's safe, I'll be able to use it too... But until then, don't waste your energy on me."

Falling back a bit to focus on healing, she set up an area healing spell focusing on those with fairly low health, such as Kijin. Her eyes paid a clear attention to the health bars as she chanted. There were a few that worried her a bit more than others, and with an Area spell, she could at least make them less worrisome before focusing on specific people later.

"Let's look back before harm's way found you..."

    skill
    Fate Rewind

With a bright light, she watched the health bars raise, though without blinding anyone as the warmth left her hands and heart and wandered its way into the bodies of the brave fighters protecting her. To think, this is a way to protect too...Not just my sword... Her thoughts were short lived, as she realized the energy loss wasn't quite worth the health they gained. "M-Maybe I really should stick to one at a time...But no one is more important than the other... Crap..."

  26. With their joint efforts the group had managed to take out the lesser elemental without much of a problem. Or so he thought. In a fit of rage the larger of the pair roared as it ignored their party to go to it's slain ally’s side.

    “It’s… Eating it?”

Alric watched in disbelief. The core had been consumed and parts of the dead monster's body began to shift toward the living one. When the dust finally settled his eyes grew wide. The real fight had finally begun.

    Shit, shit, shit!

The same thought was set on repeat in his mind. Kijin had decided to be the first to reengage the Greater Elemental, assuming the role of the party captain and barking out orders as he did. The others surprisingly followed along in what was finally looking like an organized formation. Wasting no time, Alric would also make his move.

The legs were their priority for now but with the thing’s tough armor all he could do was try to bash them apart. While Kijin kept it distracted the knight ran in with his shield raised, smashing his shield against one of the elemental's massive legs with as much force as he could muster. Cracks began to form and stray shrapnel fell towards him but with his armor and ability to block he was able to get away mostly unharmed while dashing off toward @Kijin Shihaku .

“You’re not alone,” He shouted at the swordsman while while dropping into a defensive stance. “If you're hurt fall back and let me tank for a bit. There's no point in getting yourself killed if you don't have to.”

  29. Lucia only chuckled a little seeing the Elementals cannibalizing one another, it wasn't unfamiliar to her at least. @Verity had been with her when dealing with the Corpse Collector. This was merely the elemental version of devouring the power of their own. The Collector variety of undead had taught her enough about how to deal with these creatures. With a huff, Lucia gestured still with a welling frown. "Mortimer, the Legs are causing a larger disturbance. Explosives might not be the best idea, use the Talismans." She demanded folding her arms as the Phantoms moved towards the larger elemental. The whirling stone that formed their legs was a difficult thing to bring down but the undead were hardly bothered or perturbed.

"Wood creates fire, fire creates earth, metal overcomes wood, wood overcomes Earth. It's good to know the Laws don't change." Mortimer mused as the other phantoms prepared loose slips of paper. The group of undead formed hand seals, shouted mantras and swung their bodies as they threw the paper talismans into the chaotic stone formations. Each one after being applied would begin to twist like gnarled roots forcefully entering the stone and earth in an effort to sunder and penetrate. While all of them might not activate properly, a few seemed to be taking effect. All the while, Lucia waited in a farther off place, away from the debris where it wouldn't strike back at her, her undead not causing enough chaos for the backlash to reach her.

  32. What the hell? After defeating the creature, it fell to the ground in crumbles. Everyone did fairly well. Morna barely could do anything, but whatever happened, happened. What made this even worse, was the fact that the larger elemental, then literally ate the dead one. Gorging himself on the beast, and then yelled something at the group. . All she could assume was that it now wanted to eat them for killing his friend.

Morna shook her head. Preparing to strike once more. However, this time, everyone was aiming for the legs. Kijin was even telling us to do that so anyone attacking the body would be focused on them. The body held the monsters core and life force. Thus, it would want to protect it's more vital organs right?

Morna could feel as her power increased by Verity buffing them, and Solaria healing them all with an AOE. It was enough to mitigate most of the damage that was coming towards them. Even as we struck at the legs, She barely could do any damage once more. DPS? At best, She might as well just start buffing others and their attacks if she were going to do anything.

Regardless, Morna took her weapon and stroke out towards the legs. Taking a blast to rocks to the face. She recoiled back before being able to do any more damage.

The might of sword, shield, seals, and such tore through the massive limb as the Elemental stood frozen in preparation. The cobbled-together stone of its legs was almost entirely hacked away in a shower of stone and dust, but no matter their efforts it wasn't quite enough. The limb remained and the creature had had more than enough time to charge up an attack.

The same attack before initiates as soon as the crumbling foot of the Greater Earth Elemental meets the ground. The area around it buckles and cracks into so many sharpened fragments it nearly ripples like water. Then they grow. The short ring of bladed rock from before is this time replaced with a hip-high wall of jagged rocks shooting up before settling back in a ring around the elemental moving outwards at a nearly blinding speed. It is only the quick reactions of @Alric Stalwart with his shield (91+5=96) and the long blade of @Kijin Shihaku's katana (74+5=79) that manages to catch the incoming wave before it hits any of their teammates. Instead of your party all taking the full brunt of the damage, your hybrid tanks suffer wounds in your stead.

While your enemy struggles to keep itself stable and its mass is now far too top-heavy for the weakened legs to effectively support, it still draws back an arm now faintly glowing. The front of its chest is pulled away and the heavily armored back and shoulders of the being face the party instead.

  36. When @Solaria volunteered to heal some of the party, he mentally sighed in relief. Enduring the tremors was bad enough, but at least they have separate responsibilities to make sure they would succeed and get out of this mess alive. "Alright. Though I feel it might be a little too late about my energy." Just staring at his EN meter was enough to make him feel worried. Plus, with his limited amount of the enhancement smoke bottles, he wondered how long he would keep this up until he will lose most of his energy.

Just thinking about them made him a little tense, causing his calm composure to slowly break down from the stress of this battle. "Everyone! You have to kill that monster immediately! I'm almost at my limit and I only got two potions left! I don't care if you're exhausted or anything! Just attack them as much as you can before it's too late! That is an order!" He can't think of his words now nor thinking of them as offensive, he was almost at his limit and he didn't want to die before they can reach their destination.

  39. Their frontal assault had caused the shift in momentum once again as the Earth Elemental created waves of spikes to slew the Blue Team. Vivian and the others had stood behind the two hybrid tanks as they swallowed the incoming attack. Both Alric and Kijin had risked life and limb for the party.

It was safe to say that...they had indeed taken a blow for the woman. Such nice little pawns! She mused under heavy breath as her spells had taken their toll on her and her energy reserves. But the battle must go on! With Verity strumming up another magical inhalant for the group, Vivian inhaled deeply from the rich vapors that seemed to give her a second wind.

Eyes flashed from blue to dark purple, her hands moved omnidirectional as the spell circle below her feet seemed to gather energy and pulsate outwards. The marked ruins in which the ground had been etched with gave her the power she needed to concentrate on her next front attack. Weaving her words into a chant and mantra, her arms outstretched as the words of power saturated the air. Despite how much the Earth Elemental wanted to protect itself, it could not with what it could not see. Casting her spell, she lurched forward with the full force of the wind beckoning for her, "Go!" simple words were enough as a black whiff of air spread around from the cratered rock below the elemental. Sapping vines came forth and latched at the legs of the Stone Soldier before they pulsated with animosity.

Bringing her hands together and then apart had caused the dark tendrils to wrap around what was left of its foundation and then ripped it apart, blasting rock and rubble beneath it watching the great Elemental fall in its place. The woman shifted her hands on her knees and lurched forward, drawing air into her lungs for a much needed rest. She waved her hand, "Go get the rest..."
